Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a post on X, has extended wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday on being re-elected for a third consecutive term in the Lok Sabha polls.

Wishing PM Modi, Netanyahu said, “I extend my warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being reelected for a third consecutive term.”

“May the friendship between India and Israel continue to surge towards new heights. Badhaai Ho !” the Israeli PM wrote on X.

Netanyahu’s wishes come at a time when Israel’s war with Hamas has entered the 8th month.

The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, and with its allies has 292 seats in the Parliament. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth winning 99 seats.

With PM Modi registering his win for the third consecutive term, wishes from global leaders also came pouring in at the speed of light.

The Italian PM, in her congratulatory message to Prime Minister Modi, said that both nations will cooperate on various issues that bind the two nations and are for the well-being of the people.

“Congratulations to @narendramodi on the new electoral victory and my warmest wishes for good work. Certain that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship that unites Italy and India and consolidate cooperation on the various issues that bind us, for the well-being of our Nations and our peoples,” Italian PM Meloni said in a post on X.

Other leaders also congratulated PM Modi and the BJP-led NDA government on their third consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

Singapore Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, also extended congratulations to PM Modi earlier today. “Congratulations, @narendramodi on the historic victory by the NDA for the third consecutive term,” he wrote in a post on X.

“Look forward to working with you to deepen the Singapore-India partnership and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year,” Wong added.

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu too, congratulated PM Modi and said he looks forward to working together to advance the ‘shared interest’ in pursuit of shared prosperity and stability for our two countries.

“Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi, and the BJP and BJP-led NDA, on the success in the 2024 Indian General Election, for the third consecutive term. I look forward to working together to advance our shared interests in pursuit of shared prosperity and stability for our two countries,” Muizzu had said.

In response, PM Modi thanked the Maldivian President and said he looks forward to closer cooperation for further strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations.

He said Male is New Delhi’s valued partner and neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region.

“Thank you President @MMuizzu. Maldives is our valued partner and neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region. I too look forward to closer cooperation for further strengthening our bilateral ties,” PM Modi posted on X.

INDIA Bloc Leaders To Meet At Kharge’s Residence Today

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday that a meeting of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance bloc meeting will be held this evening in the national capital

“The INDIA Janbandhan leaders will be meeting today at 6 PM at 10, Rajaji Marg to discuss the election results and strategy thereafter,” Kharge posted on X.

Counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday.

According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will need the support of other parties in his coalition, primarily — JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

The INDIA bloc is trying to woo some of BJP allies to pull the game in its favour.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Congress President said that the party will hold discussions with its allies as well as “new partners.”

“Till we don’t talk to our alliance partners and the new partners who are going to ally with them, we will talk to them as well and see how we can make a majority. If I talk about all the strategies here, Modiji will become clever,” the Congress president said at a press conference.

“I thank our INDIA bloc partners. Everyone campaigned for each other and worked. Our fight hasn’t reached its conclusion, we have to keep fighting for people’s rights, the protection of the Constitution and democracy, the nation’s development, and safety on the border,” Kharge added. (ANI)

Modi Tenders Resignation Ahead Of Next Govt Formation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has submitted his resignation, along with his council of ministers, to President Droupadi Murmu ahead of the formation of the next Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government.

This will pave the way for the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha, which ran from 2014 to 2019.

The President accepted the resignation and requested PM Modi and the Council of Ministers to continue till the new Government assumes office.

This came after the Cabinet meeting held here in the national capital on Wednesday. The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recommended the dissolution of the cabinet whose term ends on June 16.

According to the sources, as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal-United (JDU), the potential “kingmakers” have given the green signal, the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi is likely to take place on June 8.

Both parties are expected to submit formal letters of support to the BJP during a meeting of the alliance which is scheduled to be held later today.

The meeting of the newly elected MPs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be held on June 7 in the national capital, sources said.

According to the sources, discussions will be held on the government formation by the NDA.

As per the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India has declared results for 542 of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the BJP winning 240 seats and the Congress 99.

The BJP victory tally was much lower than its 2019 tally of 303 and the 282 seats it had won in 2014. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats compared to 52 that it had won in 2019 and 44 seats in 2014. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions from exit polls.

New parents Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar who are celebrating their third wedding anniversary today dropped an adorable picture along with wishes for each other.

Yami on Tuesday, took to her Instagram account to drop a cutesy picture with her husband and filmmaker Aditya Dhar from their recent professional collaboration for the film, Article 370.

In the picture, the couple can be seen smiling as they pose for the camera.

The ‘Article 370’ actress looked cute in a pink dress as she flaunted her baby bump.

Aditya on the other hand, looked stylish as he carried a monochromatic look.

LS Results: Despite Two Splits, Maha Vikas Aghadi Leading In M’rashtra

Maharashtra, the financial capital, which witnessed a change in government mid-term and double splits in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), saw political gains in the Lok Sabha polls. The INDIA bloc is leading on 28 seats in Maharashtra, the financial capital of the country, while the Mahuyati alliance manages to lead on 17 seats.

BJP is leading on 13 seats, Congress 11 , Shiv Sena (UBT) 11, NCP (shared pawar) on 6 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde) on 5 seats , NCP on one seat. Independent is leading on one seat, as per the Election Commission.

There are total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra.

In the most watched constituency of Maharashtra, Baramati, NCP candidate Supriya Sule is leading with 8689 votes while Sunetra Pawar is trailing.

Sunetra Pawar is the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, who is contesting Lok Sabha polls on an NCP ticket from Baramati against Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) candidate Supriya Sule, who is sitting MP and her sister-in-law.

Sule who is eyeing a fourth term from Baramati, registered a victory here after defeating BJP candidate, Kanchan Rahul Kul in 2019.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal leading with 96330 votes against the Congress candidate Bhushan Patil, as per the latest trends by Election Commission of India.

In Nanded Lok Sabha seat, Chavan Vasantrao Balwantrao is leading with 3651 seats against BJP’s Chikhalikar Prataprao Govindrao.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is also leading in Nagpur with 40603 seats against Vikas Thare of the Indian National Congress party.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the National Democratic Alliance won 41 seats while the UPA won 5 seats.

Bharatiya Janta Party is leading in all the Lok Sabha seats of the national capital, as per the trends shown by the Election Commission on Tuesday.

The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party fought the polls in alliance in the national capital.

From Chandni Chowk constituency, BJP candidate Praveen Khandelwal is leading with over 35,000 votes against Congress candidate Jai Prakash Agarwal.

In the East Delhi-3 constituency, BJP’s Harsh Malhotra is leading by 25884 votes against AAP’s Kuldeep Kumar.

In the New Delhi constituency, BJP candidate Bansuri Swaraj is leading by a comfortable margin of 33465 votes against AAP’s Somnath Bharti. Bansuri Swaraj is the daughter of former Union minister Sushma Swaraj.

From North-East Delhi, the incumbent BJP MP Manoj Tiwari is leading with a huge margin of 109130 against Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, who is a former Jawaharlal Nehru University Student’s Union president.

In North West Delhi, BJP’s Yogendra Chandoliya is leading with 124334 votes over Congress’ Udit Raj.

In South Delhi, Ramvir Singh Bishuri of the BJP is leading with 78765 votes against AAP’s Sahi Ram.

In West Delhi, BJP’s Kamaljeet Sehrawat is leading with 95591 votes against AAP’s Mahabal Mishra.

Shah Leads With 6,37,104 Votes In Gujarat’s Gandhinagar

As the counting of votes is underway for the 18th Lok Sabah elections, Union Minister Home Minister Amit Shah is leading ahead in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar with 6,50,399 votes.

According to the latest trends by the Election Commission of India, Amit Shah has so far received 8,58,197 votes. On the other hand, Congress’ Sonam Ranambhai Patel is trailing behind and has secured 2,07,798 votes.

Out of the 26 seats, BJP is leading in 25 seats while Congress is leading in one. The BJP had earlier won the Surat constituency unopposed after the election officer on April 22 cancelled the nomination papers of the Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani over alleged “fake signatures of people who signed as witnesses.”

Meanwhile, BJP is leading in Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, Amreli, Anand, Bardoli, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Chhota Udaipur, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Kachchh, Kheda, Mahesana, Navsari, Panchmahal, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Vadodara, and Valsad.

On the other hand, Congress is leading in the Banaskantha constituency.

KL Sharma Trends Put Him Ahead Of Smriti In Amethi

Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma, who is on the verge of pulling off a major upset by defeating Union Minister Smriti Irani from Amethi, termed this a victory of the ‘Gandhi family’ and the people of Amethi.

KL Sharma, the long associate of the Gandhi family was given the responsibility of winning back the party’s once-held bastion.

“This is the victory of the Gandhi family and the people of Amethi…the counting is still taking place, so I won’t call it a victory now,” Sharma told ANI.

“I didn’t fight this election, the people of Amethi did,” the Congress candidate said. “The Gandhi family gave me the ticket and bestowed a responsibility on me, and I think I am fulfilling their expectations.”

According to the latest numbers by the Election Commission of India, KL Sharma is leading Irani with 1,18,471 votes.

KL Sharma has got 3,97,538 votes and Smriti Irani has got 2,79,067. In 2019, Smriti Irani won the seat of Amethi by defeating Rahul Gandhi by a margin of over 55,000 votes.

In the state of Uttar Pradesh, BJP is leading on 35 seats, while the INDIA bloc, of Samajwadi Party and Congress, has won 34 and 7 seats respectively.

The Congress is leading on the seats of Amethi, Rae Bareli, Amroha, Saharanpur, Sitapur, Allahabad and Barabanki.

Rahul Gandhi, who is contesting from the other party bastion of Rae Bareli is leading by a huge margin of 3,85,501 votes. He is also contesting from Wayanad in Kerala and leading by a margin of 3,59,170 votes.

Kuwar Danish Aliis leading in Amroha from 12,896 votes. Ujjwal Raman Singh is leading in Allahabad by 42,492 votes and Tauj Punia is leading in Barabanki with 2,04,180.

J-K: Omar Trails In Baramulla, Independent Candidate Abdul Rashid Leading

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) vice-president and Baramulla Lok Sabha candidate Omar Abdullah is trailing in Baramulla by a margin of 46,225 votes against independent candidate Abdul Rashid Sheikh, as per the ECI.

This is the first Lok Sabha election in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. The elections to the five seats in Jammu and Kashmir were held in five phases.

Omar Abdullah, while speaking to the media, expressed hope that the exit polls are accurate for Jammu and Kashmir and incorrect for the rest of the country.

He also stated that he has faith that his party, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, will win all three seats.

“I have faith that JKNC will win all three seats. Exit poll predictions will be proven wrong. I hope exit polls prove to be right for J-K and wrong for the rest of the country…”

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is trailing in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the BJP had six candidates in the fray in Jammu and Kashmir but failed to win a single seat in Kashmir.

Strict security measures have been implemented to ensure the smooth counting of votes for more than 8,000 candidates in this general election. Vote counting commenced at 8 pm today.

Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that a “very robust system” has been put in place. “There are around 10.5 lakh booths. Each booth will have 14 tables. There are observers and micro-observers. Nearly, 70-80 lakh people are involved in the process,” he said.

Results of the Assembly elections in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh were held simultaneously with voting for the 543-member Lok Sabha. Results of 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and 147 Assembly constituencies in Odisha and results of bypolls in 25 Assembly constituencies will also be declared today.
