POCSO Act Dalai Lama Kiss

Delhi HC Dismisses PIL Against Dalai Lama On Child Kiss Controversy

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking action against Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people under the POCSO Act on kissing a child on the lips issue.

The plea stated that the startling video went viral across media channels on various social media platforms in April 2023 without hiding the identity of a child and discussions and debates were organized by many news channels which had a grave impact on the well-being of the child.

“This unfathomable sin transpired inside a temple. The poor little child simply asked if he could hug Dalai Lama,” the plea said.

The bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said the incident took place one and a half years ago and it happened in full public glare. Dalai Lama has apologised for it.

The plea moved by a confederation of NGOs and Jeroninio Almeida stated that the present petition has been filed with the intent to be a wake-up call on the deafening silence of concerned authorities and other stakeholders including media on the crime committed against gullible little children by the revered godmen, spiritual sacrosanct, religious heads, priests, popes, maulvis, sadguru, spiritual leaders, gurus or monks and the likes and in the instant petition global spiritual icon, the Dalai Lama, to take appropriate action and also to frame appropriate guidelines if required to ensure the protection and safety of children during various gathering like Spiritual or religious gathering.

“How the perpetrator hugged the child and then kissed his lips and then embraced him repeatedly before asking him to suck his tongue, is improper, inadequate, inappropriate, uncalled for and classified as an offence under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act),” the plea read.

The plea further stated that after this incident came into the public domain, the members of the Tibetan community worldwide came forward and made an insidious remark to divert and distract the very course of contention by justifying that ‘sticking one’s tongue out’ is being used as a form of greeting in ancient Tibetan culture.

It also stated that it is pertinent to highlight that despite comprehensive legislation to protect children from sexual offences in place, adult citizens have proved to be irresponsible towards their duty of utmost care and protection towards the child.

“It is a sad reflection on the attitude of indifference of society towards the violation of human dignity of the victims of sexual abuse, especially when victims are children,” the plea stated.

Dalai Lama on April 10, 2023, issued a public apology after a video clip featuring him and a child triggered outrage and criticism over his “inappropriate” behaviour. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi should be slapped Karnataka BJP MLA

Rahul Should Be Slapped: Karnataka BJP MLA Sparks Controversy

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Bharath Shetty sparked controversy, saying that Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should be “slapped” for his alleged anti-Hindu remarks.

Addressing a protest march in Mangaluru on Monday, a BJP MLA said that the Congress leaders who call themselves Hindus ‘only talk about violence, hatred and lies’.

“He follows anti-Hindu policy. If you look at his statement, it is clear that he is a big madman. He should have slapped Rahul Gandhi on the cheek inside the Parliament,” he said.

He further attacked Rahul Gandhi for holding a picture of the Hindu god Shiva, and said, “He calls Hindus violent. Madman does not know that if Lord Shiva opened his third eye, he (LoP) would turn into ashes.”

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA alleged that Rahul Gandhi changed his stance based on the region he visits and claimed, “When he comes to Gujarat, LoP Rahul Gandhi becomes an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. When he goes to Tamil Nadu he becomes an atheist, when he goes to Kerala he becomes secular.”

He further commented on Rahul Gandhi’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections and said that “After getting only 99 Lok Sabha seats in the general election, LoP Rahul Gandhi is claiming to have made a great achievement.”

After Rahul Gandhi’s maiden speech triggered political outrage, several portions of his address targeting the central government were expunged from the records of Parliament on Monday.

In his speech in Lok Sabha, during the debate on the Motion of Thanks on President Droupadi Murmu’s address, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of preaching and spreading violence and hatred.

He also called the Hindu symbol ‘Abhayamudra’ which gestures fearlessness, reassurance and safety, as the symbol of the Congress party.

“Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress…The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions…All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear…But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth…Aap Hindu ho hi nahi,” the Congress leader said. Rahul Gandhi Rises To The Challenge

Rahul Rises To The Challenge

Rahul Gandhi’s first speech in Parliament after the 2024 polls, clearly, stunned the ‘non-biological’ man, his best buddy from Gujarat, and his entire political party. Their shocked, crest-fallen faces told a story.

For the fake prophet, who has routinely flaunted his 56 inch chest, ‘red eyes’ and ‘ghar mein ghus kar marenge’ rhetoric, this is truly a fall from grace. Even his objections were so feeble and lame. So much so, his best buddy was seeking ‘protection’ from the Speaker – their own man – with an infamous record of brazen partisanship.

Ideally, Mr M should have gracefully accepted defeat and quit. He and his party have lost the mandate. That he did not point to other compelling factors – and not only the cliche that he is addicted to power. Powerless, one hundred old stories of solitude would have resurrected yet again, and those wouldn’t have been stories of magic realism!

In contrast, the entire Opposition in the INDIA alliance seems full of cheer, upbeat, buoyant. As if they have won the polls.

Indeed, they have, morally, emotionally, and psychologically, and this is no conspiracy theory!

Political observers believe that if the first two round of polling had been authentically accounted for in the Election Commission (EC) data, that is, if the final tally had not suddenly increased so drastically, soon after their initial disclosure – the results would have been quite different. Perhaps, the BJP would have failed to do even a ‘200 paar’!

Undoubtedly, it was the tremendous pressure exerted by civil society groups, the INDIA bloc, and eminent citizens that, perhaps, put the EC on the alert. The case unfolding in the apex court added to the gist. And ordinary folks were openly saying on the streets that Modi can only win if he fudges the EVMs!

Now, each day, there is new social-psychological pressure being exerted on the BJP leadership. Lalu Yadav has suddenly asked all in his party to be ready for assembly polls. He added to the suspense by claiming that this propped-up regime will fall in August. There have been whispers that the government can fall any day. Even Mukesh Ambani’s visit to meet Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, in a season of obscenely lavish pre-wedding indulgences, has made the gossip-mill go on an over-drive.

Now, Gujarat, has been added to the list. Rahul Gandhi told the BJP in Parliament, that they can take it in writing – they will now lose Gujarat! For a party, which has somehow managed to break the BJP citadel by winning one MP seat this time, this is like promising a utopia. The BJP will be defeated because the “balloon of Modi’s vision has burst,” said the Leader of Opposition (LoP).

By defeating the BJP in Ayodhya, INDIA bloc has defeated the Ram Mandir movement that was launched by LK Advani. “What I am saying is something very big…” he said. “Congress party and INDIA bloc defeated them in Ayodhya… In Parliament, I asked the prime minister as to whether he was a human being, as he himself said that he was non-biological, and has a direct connection with God. If you are directly connected to God, then how were you defeated in Ayodhya?”

“You could not have imagined that BJP will get defeated in Ayodhya or that Modi will win Varanasi by a small margin. They are going to be defeated here in Gujarat like they were in Ayodhya. All you have to do is to ask the people of Gujarat to not be scared,” he said.

ALSO READ: Rahul – A Glimmer of Hope For Secular India

He has added another twist to the tale. He has claimed that Modi wanted to contest from Ayodhya (considering the grandiose hyperbole created around the ‘pran pratistha’ ceremony, and the huge hype by the stooge media), but he was told by his advisers that he will face certain defeat. “That is why, he (Modi) did not contest from Ayodhya, but opted for Varanasi. In Varanasi, we made a few mistakes, or else, we should have defeated him there as well,” he said.

This is like the proverb of both heads and tails of the tossed coin falling in the lap of the LoP. And this LoP is no run-of-the-mill guy!

So, soon after the electrifying speech in Parliament, what did he do? He went to share the life experiences of the working class and skilled ‘mistris’ who build homes and buildings with their bare hands and back-breaking labour, on abysmally low wages. Every picture clicked with them reeks of a certain honesty not seen among the political class in India since decades.

Then Rahul Gandhi went to meet railway drivers and loco pilots from across the country in Delhi, who work in hard shifts, who are over-worked, stressed out and lack proper sleep, and who take rest in not-so-comfortable spaces with lack of washrooms. Despite thousands of vacancies, the railways are reportedly not hiring staffers. Besides, there is a massive privatization spree happening.

The drivers poured their heart out to him. Soon after, railway officials rushed to meet the drivers and their union leaders, promising to do what they have refused to do all these years.

This visit is to be measured in terms of the series of deadly train accidents which have occurred in the recent past. In the last case near Darjeeling, the overworked railway driver has been reportedly blamed. Under Ashwini Vaishnav as Railways Minister since 2021, 329 accidents have reportedly occurred, including the death of 296 passengers in Balasore, Orissa, last year.

In another interview , Rahul Gandhi said that he showed the ‘abhay mudra’ in  Parliament, that most people in India work with their hands, but they get nothing in return. “Instead, we want to give them respect, appreciation and protection. This is our thinking.”

While the PM must have forgotten about Hathras, Rahul Gandhi was there immediately after the ghastly stampede killed around 120 people in an overcrowded show held by yet another ‘godman’. He consoled a little girl, while holding the hand of another, listening to them, sharing their grief, seeking compensation.

In September 2020, a 19-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped by upper caste men in a village in Hathras. Her body was burnt by the cops in the night in a hush-hush manner. Even her parents were not allowed to do the last rites. The Delhi and UP police blocked all the highways with barricades. Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi braved their lathis, broke the barricades and reached Hathras. The heart-rending pictures of Priyanka hugging a grieving mother became viral — a moment of deep sorrow.

On Monday, July 9, 2024, Rahul Gandhi was back in Manipur. This is the third time he has visited the ravaged state which has lost its peace of mind, with thousands in refugee camps, scores of dead in the conflict zone, and the nightmare of  two women being brutalised, stripped and paraded naked by a mob still haunting the conscience of the civil society. He has now visited the relief camps in Jibram and Churachandpur districts.

Significantly, the PM has not visited Manipur till this day. Why?

No one knows.

The truth is, now, it does not matter. He has lost the game. The game is over for him. And every day, in popular consciousness, his image is sinking deeper into a lower abyss. It seems, ‘acche din’ has finally arrived for Mr M.

Besides, as he flies to Moscow, its people suffocated by another life-long megalomaniac-dictator, he should analyse the poll results in the UK and France. Left-of-Centre Labour Party and the Left solidarity alliance of the New Popular Front has won decisive victories out there — defeating the Right-wing, including the Neo-Nazis in France. Even in Iran, the hardliner Islamic fundamentalists have lost to a proven reformist.

The winds of change, cool and soothing, they often arrive, suddenly, quickly, and undetected. However, when they do arrive, they refuse to go away so soon. These days, it seems, they have come to stay.

SIT Hathras

Hathras Stampede: SIT Says Satsang Organisers Responsible

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the stampede in Hathras has recorded 119 statements and submitted a report on Tuesday stating that the committee that organized the ‘Satsang’ was responsible for inviting more people than permitted.

According to sources, the report indicated that the committee responsible for organizing the religious event, ‘Satsang,’ was accountable for the stampede incident. The committee invited more people than the permitted number, failed to make adequate arrangements, and the officials had not inspected the site despite granting permission.

Statements from 119 people, including family members of the deceased and injured devotees, were recorded in the nearly 300-page report.

The SIT also recorded statements from DM Hathras, Ashish Kumar, SP Nipun Agarwal, SDM, and CO Sikandrarao, who gave permission for the Satsang, as well as police personnel on duty for the Satsang that took place on July 2.

ADG Agra Zone Anupam Kulshreshtha and Aligarh Commissioner Chaitra V were present. The report has been submitted to the government.

Earlier on Monday, an eyewitness to the incident claimed that the attempt by a large number of devotees to collect “Baba’s Charan Dhul” (soil from the feet of the godman) led to the stampede.

Sudhir Pratap Singh from Mughalgarhi village said, “The incident happened after ‘Baba’ announced that devotees should take soil from around his feet. The devotees rushed to collect the soil in a hurry but started falling over and piling up.”

“Baba’s convoy left the spot amid the stampede. Only locals and the administration helped the devotees who were present there,” Singh said.

The Uttar Pradesh Judicial Commission team recorded statements from several eyewitnesses in the Hathras stampede case.

Meanwhile, the godman’s advocate, AP Singh, claimed that the mishap was caused by unidentified men who sprayed poison during the event. Singh asserted that the group of conspirators fled the venue after causing the stampede. “The stampede incident at the Satsang was not an accident but a conspiracy,” the lawyer said.

The incident took place at a religious ‘Satsang’ event of self-styled godman Suraj Pal, alias ‘Bhole Baba,’ in Fulari village, Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, on July 2.

Devprakash Madhukar, the main accused in the Hathras stampede incident, was sent to 14 days of judicial custody after being produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday.

The court inquired if he had written permission for the event and from whom it was obtained. Madhukar replied that he received permission from the SDM for a gathering of 80,000 people. When asked if the event was publicized, Madhukar denied doing so.

Madhukar had been absconding, and a reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced for information leading to his arrest. He was finally apprehended on July 5 in the national capital. Additionally, two other accused, Ramprakash Shakya and Sanju Yadav, were also arrested, according to the police.

Earlier on July 6, ‘Bhole Baba’ said in a video statement that “those who created the chaos will not be spared.”

The self-styled godman Suraj Pal, who also goes by the name Narayan Sakar Hari, expressed his grief and condoled the deaths caused by the tragedy. (ANI)

Zelenskyy: Disappointed To See Modi Hugging World’s Most Bloody Criminal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia, which he termed as a “devastating blow to peace efforts.”

On Monday, PM Modi who is on a two-day visit to Russia met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the latter’s house in suburban Moscow and images from the meeting showed the two leaders exchanging hugs and chatting.

“In Ukraine today, 37 people were killed, three of whom were children, and 170 were injured, including 13 children, as a result of Russia’s brutal missile strike. A Russian missile struck the largest children’s hospital in Ukraine, targeting young cancer patients. Many were buried under the rubble. These visits will be a wonderful opportunity to deepen ties with these nations, with whom India has time-tested friendship. I also look forward to interacting with the Indian community living in these countries.”

PM Modi said that he wishes to discuss aspects of bilateral cooperation with his friend President Putin.

“I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues. We seek to play a supportive role for a peaceful and stable region. The visit will also provide me with an opportunity to meet the vibrant Indian community in Russia,” the PM said.

PM Modi added that the special and privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia has advanced over the past ten years, including in the areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Earlier on Sunday, India’s Ambassador to India, Vinay Kumar said, “The program includes a private meeting with President Putin, delegation-level talks, restricted talks, luncheon hosted by President Putin for Prime Minister and his delegation, visit to an exhibition centre in the VDNKH Complex, Rosatom Pavilion, and also exchange of documents which we are preparing to sign and exchange during the visit.”

“Prime Minister will also address a gathering of Indian community members who are very eagerly looking forward to this visit to Moscow by Prime Minister after a gap of nine years. The last Prime Ministerial visit to Moscow was in 2015. So these are some of the important elements of the program,” he added.

Notably, India and Russia have a longstanding and time-tested relationship with more than 77 years of mutually beneficial diplomatic ties. The relations between the two nations were elevated to the level of “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” in 2010.

After concluding his visit to Russia, PM Modi will depart for Austria in what is the first visit to the nation by an Indian Prime Minister in 40 years.

In his departure statement, PM Modi stated, “In Austria, I will have the opportunity to meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Austria is our steadfast and reliable partner and we share the ideals of democracy and pluralism.”(ANI)
