Violence Erupts Outside Ramji Lal’s Residence Over His Rana Sanga Statement

Violence erupted at the residence of Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday as unidentified individuals resorted to stone pelting, breaking window panes and vandalising vehicles parked outside.

This comes after Suman sparked controversy with his statement on Rana Sanga, a 16th-century Rajput king, calling him a “traitor” for allegedly bringing Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty, to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.

Rana Sanga, also known as Sangram Singh I, was the ruler of Mewar from 1508 to 1528 and is revered for his bravery and sacrifices. Suman’s statement has been widely criticized, with many calling for an apology and action against him.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Jagadambika Pal has strongly condemned a statement made by SP MP Ramji Lal Suman, saying it hurt the sentiments of millions of people. Pal emphasised that public representatives should not make disparaging remarks about respected individuals, and criticised Suman’s party for not taking action against him.

“The sentiments of crores of people were hurt by his statement. No public representative has the right to make a statement about a person who is very respected and his party did not even issue a show cause notice against him and did not take any action against him. These people speak against Sanatan Dharma every day, say disrespectful things against great men,” said Pal.

SP MLA Ranjeet Suman alleged that the protestors belonged to Karni Sena. Notably, the Rajasthan unit of the Karni Sena has also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who will blacken Suman’s face and hit him with shoes.

SP MLA Ranjeet Suman, said, “Since 2 days, people were threatening through social media to come to the residence and attack us. Today, they came here, and a lot of people were attacked, and they suffered injuries. The people belong to Karni Sena. Police were present here and they were injured too.”

Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Dimple Yadav also alleged that the vandalism was orchestrated by the government.

Dimple Yadav said, “If we see the situation in Uttar Pradesh, where bombs are exploding on the roads, where women are not safe. It is the responsibility of the government. If such incidents are happening, then it is very unfortunate. What message do you want to give to the young generation? The government should take strict action against this. Somewhere this is an act done by the government.”

On March 24 SP MP Ramji Lal Suman clarified that his intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Ramji Lal Suman said, “I had said in the Parliament that Babar was invited to India by Rana Sanga to defeat Ibrahim Lodi. My intention was not to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. I may or may not believe in any religion, but there is no right to play with the sentiments of the followers of any other religion. My statement was neither against any caste, nor against any class, nor against any religion. I salute all those who have sacrificed their lives for the soil of this country. My intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Suman further said, “Babur came to India on the invitation of Rana Sanga. This is a historical fact. I did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. Every time, it is said that India’s Muslims have Babur in their DNA. The Muslims of India consider Muhammad Saheb (Prophet Muhammad) as their ideal and follow the Sufi tradition. I do not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

He further said that Muslims are under fear in Uttar Pradesh.

Lal Suman said, “Our Ganga-Jamuni culture is being destroyed. Yogi Adityanath should learn that every religion spreads the message of love, not confrontation. Here, who is the one digging old graves? During stampede in Mahakumbh Muslims came forward and helped the victims.”

SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav Akhilesh Yadav has come out in defense of his party’s MP, Ramji Lal Suman and asserted that everyone, including BJP leaders, is revisiting history. He pointed out that BJP leaders want to debate about Aurangzeb, so Suman merely turned to a different page in history.

Yadav emphasized that history was written 100-200 years ago, and it’s not their place to alter it. He requested the BJP to refrain from revisiting history, warning that doing so would lead to scrutiny of other historical events.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “Ramji Lal Suman said what he said because everyone is turning the pages of history. The leaders of BJP want to debate about Aurangzeb. So, Ramji Lal Suman also turned a page in history where something like that was written. We did not write the history 100-200 years ago. I request the BJP not to turn the pages of history because if that happens, then people will also remember that when the ‘Tilak’ of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was going to happen, no one did it. His Tilak was not done with the hand but with the toe of the left foot. Will the BJP criticise this today? Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s tilak was done with the left toe, will the BJP apologise for it?” (ANI)

Kamra Accuses T-Series Of Copyright Notice On Stand-Up Video

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has accused music company T-Series of issuing a copyright strike on his latest stand-up video, ‘Naya Bharat’, on YouTube.

Kamra, who is already facing criticism for his joke referring to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a “gaddar” (traitor), has now targeted T-Series.

In a post on X, Kamra claimed that he did not use the original lyrics or instrumental of the song in question. Criticising the music company, he wrote, “Hello @TSeries, stop being a stooge. Parody & satire come under fair use legally. I haven’t used the lyrics or the original instrumental of the song. If you take this video down, every cover song/dance video can be taken down. Creators, please take note of this.”

He also accused monopolies in India of behaving like a “mafia” and added, “Having said that, every monopoly in India is nothing short of a mafia, so please watch/download this special before it’s taken down. FYI – T-Series, stay in Tamil Nadu.”

Take a look:

Kamra recently sparked a row with his “gaddar” (traitor) joke, allegedly aimed at Eknath Shinde. Several political leaders condemned his remarks during a stand-up show and demanded action against him.

On Tuesday, Kamra shared a new video mocking Shiv Sena workers for vandalizing The Habitat comedy club in Mumbai, where he had previously performed.

Reacting to the controversy, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, “Our CM Devendra Fadnavis had responded to this issue on behalf of the government. Our CM has said that action will be taken as per the law.”

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took a strong stand against Kamra’s remarks. Speaking in the state Assembly on Monday, he said the government would not allow freedom of expression to become a tool for spreading “tyranny.”

The Chief Minister said, “We appreciate humor and satire. We accept political satire, but we do not accept freedom of expression if it leads to tyranny.” He stated that Kamra staged “low-quality” comedy. “This artist makes statements against the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice; he wants to gain fame by creating controversy. He targeted Eknath Shinde and staged low-quality comedy,” the CM said, adding that the people will decide whether Eknath Shinde is a traitor or a selfish person. (ANI)

Atishi Questions Yogi Over ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ Liquor Offer In UP

Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Legislative Assembly Atishi on Wednesday slammed the BJP and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s government over viral videos showing large crowds at liquor stores due to the ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ offer, questioning if they were attempting to turn people in adjoining states into alcoholics.

Speaking to reporters, Atishi said, “In various states of BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, be it Noida or Meerut or Muzaffarnagar, there are viral videos on social media that show a huge crowd at liquor stores, there is utter chaos, and stampedes are occurring. Why? Under Buy 1 Get 1 free, Yogi ji’s government is providing one bottle of liquor free on the purchase of one bottle. We saw the videos on social media that people are falling on each other to enter shops.”

“I would like to ask the BJP whether it wants to make people of UP and people in adjoining states alcoholics. I would like to ask the central leadership of the BJP whether Yogi ji is implementing ‘Buy 1 Get 1 free’ with your approval…” the Delhi Assembly LoP added.

She further questioned whether the BJP would take to the streets to oppose the situation.

Atishi also alleged whether the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) would conduct a raid.“If this is not happening with your approval, will the BJP protest against it? The BJP had said that ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ means corruption, that it indicates a major scam. So, when will there be a CBI-ED raid at Yogi ji’s office?” Atishi questioned. (ANI)

‘Rana Sanga Didn’t Need Babur To Defeat Lodi; He Had Done It Twice On His Own’

Randhir Singh Bhindar, Umrao of former Mewar state, says history is being distorted to legitimize Mughal invasion which suits a particular political narrative. His views:

In a recent statement in the Rajya Sabha, Samajwadi Party Member Ramji Lal Suman claimed that the legendary Rajput king Rana Sanga of Mewar had invited Babur to India. This assertion is not just misleading but a gross misrepresentation of Indian history. A careful examination of primary sources—Babur’s memoirs, contemporary chronicles, and Mewar’s records—reveals that the claim is entirely unfounded. The truth is that Babur was invited by disgruntled Afghan nobles, Daulat Khan Lodi and Alam Khan Lodi, not by Rana Sanga.

Rana Sanga, one of India’s greatest warrior-kings, had no reason to seek Babur’s help—he had already defeated Ibrahim Lodi twice and crushed the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat.

Allow me to separate the chaff from the grain. The claim that Rana Sanga invited Babur stems from a single, dubious reference in the Baburnama, where Babur mentions, in passing, that the Rana had sent an envoy expressing goodwill. However, this reference lacks detail; no names of envoys, no terms of alliance, and no corroboration from other contemporary sources. Contrast this with Babur’s detailed description of Daulat Khan Lodi’s embassy, which included gifts and lengthy negotiations.

Historians like Jadunath Sarkar and Gopinath Sharma have long dismissed the idea that Rana Sanga sought Babur’s help. Sarkar notes: “A hundred and twenty-five years after Timur’s invasion, Babur began the Turki conquest of India… Daulat Khan, governor of Punjab, was faithless to his master Ibrahim Lodi and courted Babur in the hope of making himself independent.”

Babur himself admits that Daulat Khan and Alam Khan Lodi sought his assistance against Ibrahim Lodi. Rana Sanga, who had already humbled Lodi in battle, did not need Babur’s help. Rana Sanga was no ordinary ruler. By the time Babur entered India, Sanga had established himself as the most powerful Hindu king in North India, commanding a confederacy of Rajput clans. His military record speaks for itself: 1) Battle of Khatoli (1518): Defeated Ibrahim Lodi’s forces, capturing his commander; 2) Battle of Dholpur (1519) where he crushed a 40,000-strong Afghan army with just 15,000 men and; 3) Battle of Gagron (1519) when he destroyed the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat, taking Sultan Mahmud Khilji II as prisoner. Babur himself acknowledged Sanga’s might thus: “Rana Sanga had grown great by his own valour and sword… He defeated Sultan Mahmud of Malwa and reduced his dynasty to feebleness.”

The narrative that Babur needed an “invitation” to invade India is also false. He had already launched four raids into India before the Battle of Panipat (1526): First in 1519, he attacked Bajaur and Bhera. In 1519, he marched through the Khyber Pass, then in 1520, he captured Sialkot and Sayyidpur. And finally in 1524 he was invited by Daulat Khan Lodi to attack Lahore though Babur was not waiting for an Indian king’s call.

Babus, a seasoned campaigner looking for an excuse to expand into India, reveal his ambition thus: “As it was always in my heart to possess Hindustan… I pictured these countries as my own, and was resolved to get them into my hands, whether peacefully or by force.”

ALSO READ: ‘PM Must Intervene To Stop Distortion of Rajput History’

The royal diaries of Mewar contain a fascinating detail: Babur actually sent an envoy to Rana Sanga, seeking his support against Ibrahim Lodi. “When Emperor Babur was ruling in Kabul, he thought: ‘The Lodhis rule India. To destroy them and establish my own rule in Delhi, it is better to seek friendship with an ancient kingdom.’ So he sent an envoy to Chittor… Babur wrote: ‘I will come from this side and establish my rule in Delhi. You should come from your side and take Agra’.”

This directly contradicts the claim that Rana Sanga invited Babur. Instead, it shows that Babur sought an alliance with the Rajputs, which Sanga likely ignored, given his own strength.

So, why a false narrative persists? The myth that Rana Sanga invited Babur serves several political purposes: 1) To shift blame for the Mughal invasion onto Indians, as if they “welcomed” foreign conquerors. 2) To undermine Hindu resistance narratives, portraying Rajputs as collaborators rather than defenders. 3) To legitimize Babur’s invasion as a “response” rather than an act of aggression.

But history does not support this distortion. Rana Sanga was a fierce opponent of foreign rule, and his eventual clash with Babur at the Battle of Khanwa (1527)—where he fought to expel the Mughals—proves that he never saw Babur as an ally.

Rana Sanga remains one of India’s greatest heroes—a king who never bowed to invaders and whose military genius kept North India free from foreign domination for decades. History must be based on facts, not political convenience. The evidence is clear: Babur was invited by Afghan rebels, not Rana Sanga. Let us honor the truth and remember Rana Sanga as he truly was—a lion of India who stood unbroken against the storm of invasion.

AIADMK’s Palaniswami Urges Shah For A Thorough Probe Into TN Liquor Scam.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday said that he discussed the Enforcement Directorate case on the alleged scam involving the state-run liquor corporation, TASMAC, during his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged for a detailed inquiry.

Palaniswami, who is also Leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly met with the Union Home Minister in the national capital on Tuesday evening and the AIDMK leader said that various issues regarding Tamil Nadu, including National Education Policy’s language formula, the release of funds and developing railway projects for the State were discussed.

Palaniswami said that he discussed the case of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), asking for a detailed inquiry into the matter. On March 20, the Madras High Court had directed ED to halt any proceedings related to searches on the premises of TASMAC.

Further the AIADMK leader said he had in the meeting, requested Shah to continue the two-language formula in Tamil Nadu.

“Various issues of Tamil Nadu were discussed with Union Minister Amit Shah. We stressed two-language policy should continue in the State. Requested to release funds and implement various schemes for Railway projects,” the AIADMK leader told reporters in Delhi.

Palaniswami, who is also known as EPS, further rejected any rumours of discussions regarding an alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the AIADMK for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly polls in 2026.

“There is nothing related to alliance. we came here for people issues. Only media is giving news about alliance for sensationalism. There is still one year for the election,” Palaniswami said.

EPS said that he will only consider talks of an alliance after the election dates are announced, adding, “Is election date is announced to speak about alliance? In 2019 and 2021 we spoke about alliance only near to election. Alliance and ideology is different. Our ideology is constant. and alliance would be based on circumstances. Circumstances only decide the alliance. There is still one year is for election.”

Assembly elections for Tamil Nadu are scheduled to be held in 2026.

AIADMK had got into an alliance with the BJP after the demise of J Jayalalithaa’s demise in 2016.

The DMK won both the 2019 Lok Sabha and the 2021 Assembly elections. the DMK also won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The AIADMK and BJP were in an alliance for the 2021 state elections, during which the BJP won four seats. It however broke off ties with the BJP in the year 2023.

The issue of the NEP’s three language formula has been a point of contention for the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, alleging that the union government is trying to “impose” hindi on non-hindi speaking states.

On March 25, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin said that all parties except the BJP supported their resolution against the three-language formula, adding that nobody is against any language but he cannot accept any language imposition.

Chief Minister Stalin added, “Except BJP, all parties have supported it (resolution against three languages). We are firm that we will never accept it (triple language policy). I came to know that opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has gone to Delhi. We hope that the opposition leader (Edappadi K. Palaniswami) will raise this issue.”

AIADMK leader EPS had arrived in Delhi on the night of March 25, along with other party leaders for the meeting with Union Home Minister. (ANI)

State Wants Better Education For Muslim Children: U’khand Waqf Board Chairman

Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams on Wednesday emphasised the importance of modernizing madrasas, stating that the state government wants better education for Muslim children to ensure their bright future.

Shams praised the government’s efforts, stating that the implementation of the NCERT syllabus in madrasas will not limit the children to just religious texts rather it would also ensure a bright future for Muslim children.

He further clarified that the state government’s aim is not to target any specific religion.

“We are giving the concept of modern Madrasas, highlighting what the Dhami government wants. The state government wants the NCERT syllabus to be followed for the bright future of Muslim children. The state government wants better education for Muslim children and do not want to limit them to just to religious books so that they can make their and country’s future bright. The Dhami government is working to make them (Muslim students) contribute to the growth of the country. Our aim is not to target any specific religion. There should be a level fixed on madarasas…” Shams told ANI.

The Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman further emphasized the need for clarity on the criteria for opening madrasas.

Responding to Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind filing a petition in the Supreme Court against the sealing of madrassas, Shams said, “It is democracy and it is their right to file petition but at the same time they should also tell about the criteria for the opening of a madaras. There should be some limits and criteria for opening a madarsa.”

Earlier on March 21, the Haridwar administration, on the orders of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took action on madrasas that are unregistered under Madrasa Board or the Education Department in Uttarakhand.

Subdivisional Magistrate Ajayveer Singh told ANI that two madrasas in the Gandhi Khata area have been sealed.

“Two madrasas have been sealed in Gandi Khata of Shyampur police station area… Uttarakhand Chief Minister has ordered us to take action against illegal madrasas and illegal constructions,” the Sub Divisional Magistrate said.

Earlier on March 16, a statement from the CM’s office mentioned that 43 allegedly illegal madrasas were sealed in Dehradun.

“Chief Minister Dhami has already made it clear that tampering with the culture, tradition and geography of Uttarakhand will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He has given a free hand to the administration to take strict action against anyone who carries out illegal activities under the guise of religion,” the statement read.

The Dehradun administration has launched a large-scale campaign and sealed 31 illegal madrasas in Vikasnagar, 9 in Sadar and 3 in Doiwala.

“Intelligence reports have also revealed that the Muslim population in the Pachhadun region has increased at an abnormal pace, due to which there was a fear of a conspiracy of demographic change,” the statement added.

According to the government, the officials took a “decisive step” and bulldozed the alleged illegal encroachments and gave a clear message that “no illegal activity will be allowed to flourish in Uttarakhand.”

“This strict action of the Dhami government is being described as a necessary step to protect the cultural and geographical identity of Uttarakhand,” the statement read.

According to the government, a “network” of illegal madrasas were present in Pachhadun area and others, claiming that there were attempts to create a population imbalance. (ANI)

Hansal Mehta, Kangana Ranaut Engage In Heated Exchange Amid Kunal Kamra Controversy

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and Bharatiya Janata Party MP and actor Kangana Ranaut found themselves in a social media confrontation after a discussion over comedian Kunal Kamra’s recent controversy led to comparisons with Kangana’s past ordeal.

The debate began when Mehta voiced his support on social media for Kamra, whose Mumbai studio was vandalized and later demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after he joked about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

While Mehta condemned the attack on Kamra’s freedom of speech, a social media user questioned why he hadn’t shown similar support when Kangana’s Mumbai home was partially demolished in 2020.

Responding to the query, Mehta asked whether Kangana’s house was vandalized as an attack on her freedom of expression or if the demolition was linked to alleged violations of Floor Space Index (FSI) regulations.

“Was her house vandalised? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don’t know the facts,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Kangana, in turn, reacted strongly to Mehta’s remarks, recalling the events surrounding her home’s demolition.

She claimed she was subjected to abuse and threats before her house was torn down overnight.

Re-sharing Mehta’s tweet, Kangana accused him of being “bitter and stupid” and dismissed his response as ignorant.

“They called me names…, threatened me, served a notice late at night to my watchman, and before the courts could open, bulldozers demolished the entire house. The High Court called the demolition completely illegal. They laughed at it and raised a toast to my pain and public humiliation,” she wrote.

Criticizing Mehta, she added, “It seems your insecurity and mediocrity have not only made you bitter and stupid but also blinded you. It’s not some third-class series or atrocious films that you make. Don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas in matters related to my ordeals. Stay out of it.”

Mehta kept his reply brief, responding to Kangana’s attack with a simple “Get well soon.”

This controversy dates back to September 2020, when the BMC had demolished parts of Ranaut’s office-cum-residential bungalow in Bandra, citing unauthorized construction.

Meanwhile, on March 25, Kangana Ranaut slammed standup artist Kunal Kamra for his alleged disparaging remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Being asked about the demolition of her office by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in 2020 and the vandalism of the studio where Kamra had performed, the ‘Emergency’ actor said that what happened with her was “illegal”, but what has happened now is “legal action”.

While speaking to the media, Kanagana said, “The way he (Kamra)was mocking me, what happened with me illegally…I will not connect these two incidents. What had happened with me was illegal, but here is being done legally.”

“You might be anyone, but insulting and defaming someone. A person for whom his/her respect is everything, and you insult and disregard them in the name of comedy. Shinde ji used to drive rickshaws, and now he has come so far on his own,” she added.

She accused Kamra of defaming and disregarding people in the name of comedy for “2 minutes of fame,” and questioned the “credentials” of Kamra.

She also raised ‘concerns’ about where the society is headed.

“Who are these people, and what are their credentials? Who couldn’t do anything in their lives…If they can write, they should do so in literature. Abusing people and our culture in the name of comedy. We should think about where society is heading when someone does this only for 2 minutes of fame,” she added.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on March 24, Monday, slammed comedian Kunal Kamra’s remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, stating that such acts can’t be justified as “freedom of speech”.

Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis stressed that while there is freedom to perform stand-up comedy, it does not extend to making “unchecked statements”. He further demanded Kamra to apologise.

“There is freedom to do stand-up comedy, but he cannot speak whatever he wants. The people of Maharashtra have decided who the traitor is. Kunal Kamra should apologise. This will not be tolerated,” he asserted.

Fadnavis criticised Kamra’s actions as an intentional attempt to defame Shinde, stating, “There is the right to comedy, but if it is being done to defame our Deputy CM Eknath Shinde purposely, it is not right.”

The Maharashtra CM also took a jibe at Kamra, linking him to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and said, “Kunal Kamra has posted the same red Constitution book shown by Rahul Gandhi. Both of them have not read the Constitution. The Constitution allows us freedom of speech, but it has limitations.”

Fadnavis underscored the mandate of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, stating, “People have voted and supported us. Those who were traitors were sent home by the people. They showed those who insulted the mandate and ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray their place.”

He further cautioned against crossing boundaries under the guise of humour, adding, “One may create humour, but making derogatory statements cannot be accepted. One cannot encroach on others’ freedom and ideology. This cannot be justified as freedom of speech.”

Kunal Kamra ‘Naya Bharat’ titled comedy video aired on Youtube, in which he took jibes at Indian political scenarios and Maharashtra politics. (ANI)

Rashid Khan Dethrones Jasprit Bumrah To Become Third-Fastest To 150 IPL Wickets

Afghanistan’s premier spinner, Rashid Khan, broke India’s prime pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s record to become the third-fastest to reach 150 Indian Premier League (IPL) wickets.

Rashid achieved the momentous feat during the Gujarat Titans season opener against Punjab Kings. He had a sole scalp to show for his name in Titan’s narrow 11-run defeat, but it was enough to take him past Bumrah and become the third-fastest to reach 150 scalps in the cash-rich league.

Rashid boasts 150 wickets in 122 matches, his staggering tally only bettered by Yuzvendra Chahal (118) and Lasith Malinga (105). Rashid landed at the 150-wicket mark in two matches fewer than Bumrah’s 124.

The Afghanistan ball tweaker’s effectiveness with the ball reflects when one ventures beyond the wicket-taking realm. Only Malinga (19.79 vs 22.00) has a better average, while Sunil Narine (6.73 vs 6.83) is the only player to have a better economy than Rashid in the illustrious list of wicket-takers.

The 26-year-old ball tweaker has thrived in the cash-rich league by effectively implementing his legbreak googly. However, Rashid was exposed by the Punjab Kings on a placid batting strip in Ahmedabad.

Unlike his economical nature, Rashid perished and handsomely leaked runs in his four-over spell. He gave away 48 runs at an economy of 12.00 and returned with the sole scalp of debutant Priyansh Arya.

In the first innings, the Kings were cruising after the powerplay, handsomely scoring runs at a 12-plus run rate. The home side needed a breakthrough, and skipper Shubman Gill brought out his ace up the sleeve, Rashid.

With a tossed-up delivery, lacking bounce and turn, he lured Priyansh to get carried away with his shot. Priyansh gave away a massive top edge, the ball lobbed in the air, and Sai Sudharsan completed a comfortable catch to send the batter back to the dressing room with a rapid 47(23).

Priyansh’s scalp was the only shining moment for Rashid. For the rest of the night, Rashid was bashed all over the park as PBKS raced to 243/5. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer starred with his blistering 97* while Shashank Singh applied the finishing touches with a scoring 44*.

In reply, GT found some momentum in their home den, but the target proved to be 11 runs too much for them. (ANI)

India’s GDP Has Doubled To USD 4.2 Trn Over Last Ten Years: IMF

India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has doubled in size over last ten years, according to the latest data released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The data highlighted that the country’s GDP at current prices was USD 2.1 trillion in 2015 and is expected to reach USD 4.27 trillion by the end of 2025, marking a 100 per cent increase in just ten years.

The IMF also highlights that India’s real GDP growth rate for the current year stands at 6.5 per cent, indicating a strong and stable expansion of the economy. Real GDP growth refers to the increase in the value of goods and services produced in the country after adjusting for inflation. India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world

At the same time, inflation remains a crucial factor influencing economic conditions. The data stated that the inflation in the country is expected to remain at 4.1 per cent. The inflation rate is now in the central bank of the country RBI’s targeted range of 4 to 6 per cent. Inflation remains a key indicator to watch as it affects purchasing power and the cost of living.

The IMF data also highlighted that the GDP per capita, which measures the average income of a citizen based on the total economic output, is estimated at USD 11,940 (or 11.94 thousand international dollars in terms of purchasing power parity). This indicates an improvement in individual prosperity and living standards over the years.

However, the data also points out that India’s general government gross debt is currently 82.6 per cent of GDP. This means that the government’s total borrowings are quite high compared to the country’s economic output.

A high debt level could pose challenges in managing fiscal policies, but India has continued to maintain its economic momentum despite this and the government is continuously achieving the fiscal targets.

The latest IMF figures highlight India’s strong economic resilience, with a sharp rise in GDP, steady real growth, and improving income levels. However, factors like inflation and high public debt remain key areas to monitor in the coming years. (ANI)
