No Exit Allowed Fom Delhi’s Rajiv Chowk Metro After 9 pm On Dec 31: DMRC

Amid the preparedness for the New Year celebration, exit from Delhi Metro’s Rajiv Chowk station will not be allowed after 9 pm on December 31, according to order by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

There is no restriction on the entry of the passengers and it will be allowed until the last train from the Rajiv Chowk Metro station on New Year’s Eve, said DMRC.

“Commuters are requested to plan their journey accordingly. Metro services on the rest of the metro network will continue to remain available as per the regular timetable,” DMRC said.

Earlier, Delhi police issued a traffic advisory ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebrations in the national capital.

SS Yadav, Special Commissioner of Police (CP) (Traffic), said that on December 31, Delhi Police will ensure necessary arrangements and deployment of personnel at places where people are expected to gather.

Addressing a press conference, SS Yadav, Special CP (Traffic) said, “The deployment will be at locations like Connaught Place, India Gate, Aerocity, Qutub Minar, Greater Kailash, Saket Mall, Netaji Subhash Place, Mukherjee Nagar area, Vasant Kunj Mall, EDM Mall, Pacific Mall, Champa Gali, Hudson lane, Hauz Khas and other crowded places. Traffic will controlled in the Connaught Place area after 8 pm.”

He also appealed to the public to avoid drunk driving, stating that law enforcement agencies will take strict action.

“Drunken behaviour, drunk driving, and such cases have always been strictly looked upon by the police. This time, stricter actions will be taken,” he said.

New Year’s Eve is the last day of the year and New Year’s Day (January 1) marks the beguining of a new year according to the Gregorian calendar. (ANI)

Delhi Metro Services To Begin From 4 am During G20 Summit

Ahead of the G20 Summit, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Wednesday announced that from September 8-10, train services will begin at 4 am.

“For the upcoming G-20 Summit to be held in Delhi on 9th and 10th September 2023, the Delhi Metro train services will start from 04:00 AM from terminal stations of all Lines for three days that is from 8th to 10th September 2023,” DMRC said in a statement.

The metro trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all lines till 6 am and after 6 am, metro trains will run as per the normal timetable throughout the day on all lines.

“All Metro stations will remain open for the general public during this period (September 8-10) except Supreme Court Metro Station where no boarding/deboarding of passengers will be allowed on September 9-10 due to security constraints,” said Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communications, DMRC.

“However, as and when directed by the security agencies, entry/exit at some stations may be regulated for a brief period in the New Delhi district on the 9th and 10th of September to facilitate the movement of VVIP delegations,” DMRC said.

Dayal said, “Parking at all Metro stations will also continue to remain available as usual except for three Metro stations falling in the New Delhi district. Parking at these three stations namely, Supreme Court, Patel Chowk and Rama Krishna Ashram Marg will remain closed from 4 am of September 8 till 12 PM of September 11.”

In view of this prestigious G-20 summit being held in the national capital, Delhi Metro also appeals to its passengers to extend all possible cooperation in the smooth running of the Metro services and follow the instructions of station staff and guidelines issued by the authorities from time to time without falling prey to rumours.

Delhi Metro To Start Operating From 4 am On MCD Poll Day

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday informed that the rail services on all the Lines would start from 4 am at terminal stations, in the wake of the December 4 elections of the Municipal Corporation in the national capital.

An official statement from the Delhi metro said: “On the day of voting, the Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will start from 4 am from all terminal stations with a frequency of 30 minutes on all lines till 6 am. After that, the metro will run as per the regular Sunday timetable throughout the day.”
Ahead of the MCD elections, the alcohol sale in the national capital will be restricted for three days, marked ‘dry days’ from today.

The ban will be imposed from 5.30 pm, the time and day the civic polls campaign ends till the day of voting. Following this, the ban will be imposed again on December 7, when the counting will take place.

“On account of the MCD Election in the NCT of Delhi from 17:30 Hours of December 2, 2022 (Friday) to December 4 2022 up to 17:30 Hours (Sunday) and From 00:00 Hours to 24:00 Hours on December 7, 2022 (Wednesday) shall be observed as dry days,” an official statement from the Excise department read.

Leaders of political parties will make last-ditch efforts as campaigning for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections is set to end on Friday.

With a massive number of roadshows, the BJP campaigning was undertaken by several Union ministers and state Chief Ministers including national president JP Nadda for a massive show of strength.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national President JP Nadda exuded confidence and said that people are eager to vote for BJP as they are fed up with Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) work. He also hit out at the AAP for not cleaning the Yamuna despite thousands of crores disbursed from the Centre to the Kejriwal government.

The BJP has been in power in the MCD since 2007.

On Friday, Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia will hold a roadshow in Patparganj.

While trying to revive its prospects in MCD polls, the Congress, in its election manifesto has promised RO water purifying systems for drinking water, clearing the three landfills in Delhi in 18 months, and waiver of outstanding house tax due.

Making ‘Delhi will be Sheila ji’s Delhi’ as the party’s poll pitch, Congress makes a mention of two schemes named after former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit – Sheila Dixit Swasthya Sahayatha Yojana for medicines at half the price, and the Sheila Dixit Gharelu Majdoor Kalyan Yojana for financial assistance for domestic workers. Assistance for domestic workers includes admissions for their children to MCD schools and financial help in case of accidents. (ANI)
