Himachal On Alert, 20 Dead Due To Heavy Rain In Six Days

The Himachal Pradesh government has put the entire state on alert amid a rain warning. Naresh Chauhan, the Principal Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, said that all the Deputy Commissioners have been put on alert and are prepared to deal with the rain disaster.

So far during the past six days, a loss of Rs. 219.54 crore has been estimated and 20 people have lost their lives. Nearly 30 roads are closed, 88 water supply schemes are hampered and 11 water supply schemes are disrupted in the state.
Since June 24, after the arrival of the monsoon, five houses, 21 cow sheds and two shops were fully damaged, 30 houses were partially damaged, and 352 cattle also died due to floods.

“During the past few days, due to heavy rainfall, 20 people have lost their lives, most of these are road accidents and six cases out of this are drowning. Almost all roads are open, apart from a few rural areas. Those who want to come to Himachal Pradesh are welcome here as everything is open in the state,” said Naresh Chauhan, Principal Media advisor to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Sukhu.

“There are chances of the flash flood only on rivulets and river banks; an advisory has been issued in this regard. We are well prepared in some parts of the state. Water and electricity supply is hampered and is also being restored. The Chief Minister has directed all the districts to be on alert for the entire monsoon season,” he added.

On Thursday, Shimla Police said that it will deploy guards on the banks of the rivers in the district to prevent drowning cases in the region.

The move came amid a surge in drowning cases due to the ongoing monsoon season and heavy rainfall in the region.

In this regard, Superintendent of Police Shimla District Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that along with River Guards near the rivers, signage would be placed which will mention not to go near the banks of the river. (ANI)

Six Cops Suspended Over Murder In Lucknow Civil Court

As many as six Lucknow police personnel were suspended for negligence, a day after gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was fatally shot inside Lucknow court premises, police informed on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lucknow Central, Aparna Kaushik, said that the police personnel posted to ensure security in court have been suspended.

“Six police officials have been suspended for negligence, resulting in the murder of gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva. The police officials posted to ensure security inside the court premises have been suspended,” said Kaushik.

Jeeva was fatally shot by a man posing as a lawyer inside the Lucknow civil court premises on Wednesday.

“According to the post-mortem report of gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva, there were 16 bullet entry and exit points in the body showing that 8 bullets were fired. Six bullets hit his chest and 2 his hand and he was brought dead to Balrampur Hospital,” stated King George’s Medical University, Lucknow.

Meanwhile, the accused in the daylight murder of notorious gangster Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva was granted fourteen days’ judicial custody on Thursday, police informed.

“Vijay Yadav, the accused in Sanjeev Jeeva’s murder was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody,” said Special DG Prashant Kumar.

Jeeva was alleged to have been involved with several gangs and carried out several criminal activities for almost three decades.

He is also said to have been a key aide of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. Jeeva emerged as a notorious gangster after the murder of BJP leaders Krishna Nand Rai and leader Braham Dutt Dwivedi and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

In the shooting incident on Wednesday, two police constables and a child also sustained injuries.

After the incident, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to probe the firing incident inside the Lucknow Civil Court, the UP Chief Ministers Office (CMO) informed on Wednesday.

“A three-member SIT, including Mohit Agarwal, ADG Technical; Joint CP, Lucknow, Nilabja Chaudhary and Ayodhya IG Praveen Kumar, has been constituted to investigate the incident,” read an official statement from CMO. (ANI)

Ban On Manufacturing, Sale Of Firecrackers In Gurugram

District Collector and Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, while issuing an order on Friday, imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, and operation of all types of firecrackers other than green crackers with immediate effect in the district.

These orders will be applicable in the entire Gurugram district with immediate effect and will be effective till January 31, 2023. The orders have been issued by the District Magistrate under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Act 1973, Explosives Act 1883, and other Explosive Rules.
As per the orders issued the responsibility of implementing these orders is with the Gurugram Police Commissioner, Municipal Corporations of Gurugram and Manesar, all SDMs, all Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars, Block Development and Panchayat Officers, all DCPs, Executive Officers and Secretaries of Municipal and Municipal Councils, all Police Stations. The police station in charge, Fire Officer Gurugram and his staff. All these officers have been instructed to execute the orders and put raids. Also, these officers have been asked to send reports to the District Collector on a daily basis.

In the orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner, it has been said that as per the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Haryana State Pollution Control Board, the manufacture, operation and sale of all types of firecrackers other than green firecrackers have been banned in the entire state including NCR region. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing pollution in the state.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said that this order will be strictly followed in district Gurugram.

Referring to the orders of the Pollution Control Board, he said that regarding increasing pollution, the Supreme Court has said that pollution has adverse effects on health. According to Yadav, the board has said that between October and January, the level of pollution increases significantly in the state, due to which children, the elderly, and sick people start having difficulty in breathing, hence a ban has been imposed on firecrackers. Pak: TLP Cleric Calls For Attack On Ahmadi Pregnant Women

A cleric of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has asked his followers to attack Ahmadi pregnant women to “make sure that no new Ahmadis are born”.

A video has emerged on social media showing a speech by TLP cleric Muhammad Naeem Chattha Qadri calling on his supporters to carry out attacks against pregnant Ahmadi women to “make sure that no new Ahmadis are born.”
He insisted that “there is but one punishment for blasphemers, decapitation.” The preacher said should the attacks not be successful, “those babies who are being born should be killed,” according to a report in Bitter Winter, a magazine on religious liberty and human rights.

Writing in the magazine, Massimo Introvigne, an Italian sociologist of religions, said the TLP is notorious for its attacks against religious minorities, including Christians and Ahmadis.

According to the report, Qadri also warned police against attempting to interfere with TLP’s religious cleansing of the Ahmadis. “Those of you who are from the police, or if there is any DPO (District Police Officer) or DC (Deputy Commissioner) or SHO (Police Station house officer) must understand that we cannot be stopped.”

On August 12, Naseer Ahmad, a 62-year-old Ahmadi father of 3, was stabbed to death at the main bus stop in Rabwah, a city with an Ahmadi majority, by a TLP activist who went there to “create an incident” with the Ahmadis, reported Introvigne.

The TLP has also targeted Pakistani Sunni Muslim politicians accused of being “soft on the Ahmadis.”

The Ahmadis are a persecuted religious minority in Pakistan through specific laws that make them second-class citizens. They are also reportedly prevented from voting and holding office. Their right to propagate and practice their religion is legally denied.

Ahmadis are routinely prosecuted for blasphemy, which carries extremely harsh punishment including the death penalty. Many Ahmadis have been falsely accused of blasphemy and executed, reported Al Arabiya Post. (ANI)
