KaJo Set To Host 71st Miss World

The upcoming 71st Miss World pageant is all set to unfold in India after a 28-year hiatus. Filmmaker Karan Johar will host the prestigious event.

Miss World’s official Instagram handle announced this news on Tuesday and captioned the post, “We are honored to announce that Karan Johar @karanjohar, a renowned Indian filmmaker, will host the 71st Miss World Festival. He has been the recipient of a lot of film awards, including two National Film Awards. He has also been honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India. The 71st Miss World will be crowned on March 9th, at the @jioworldconventioncentre.”

Karan will be hosting the event with former Miss World Megan Young.

Another post introducing Megan Young, read, “Megan Young @meganbata returns to the Miss World stage co-hosting this year’s event! The talented and charismatic actress, model, and tv hosted who won the Miss World title in 2013, has been recently featured on the Philippine television drama crime “Royal Blood”. Welcome back, Megan.”

Alongside their captivating hosting prowess, the evening promises to be an unforgettable spectacle with sensational performances lined up by artists Shaan, Neha Kakkar, and Tony Kakkar.

After a hiatus of 28 years, the Miss World finale returns to India, marking a historic moment in the pageant’s legacy. The event will take place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on March 9, drawing attention from around the globe.

For viewers in India, the Miss World Finale will be streamed live on Sony LIV.

India’s stint with this pageant has always been exceptional. India has won the Miss World contest six times – the first in 1966. While Reita Faria won the Miss World title in 1966, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was crowned in 1994. Diana Hayden won the Miss World title in 1997. Yukta Mookhey bagged the title of Miss World in 1999.

The year 2000 saw a Miss India World again with Priyanka Chopra winning the crown.

Filmmaker Karan Johar on Saturday hosted a pre-birthday bash for their kids Yash and Roohi in Mumbai.

From Shilpa Shetty to Gauri Khan and Rani Mukerji, several stars attended the party with their kids.

Shilpa happily posed with his son Viaan and daughter Samisha. Rani, too, posed for the shutterbugs. She looked gorgeous in a denim co-ord set.

Genelia Deshmukh and Riteish Deshmukh also marked their presence at the bash with their sons.

Gauri was seen exiting the venue with son AbRam and friend Maheep Kapoor.

Karan welcomed his son Yash and daughter Roohi via surrogacy on February 7, 2017. He named Yash after his deceased father Yash Johar, while Roohi is an anagram of his mother’s name Hiroo.

Meanwhile, on the work front, KJo’s directorial film ‘Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ received nominations in 18 categories including Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female).

Alia bagged Best Actor award for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.

As the film garnered several awards at the ceremony, Karan posted a note of gratitude.”A night to remember! @filmfare…And thank you to everyone for all the love for our #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahaani,” he wrote. ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ marked his comeback to the director’s chair after almost seven years.

The film starred Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. The film turned out to be a hit. He has not announced his next directorial yet. (ANI)

Glad There Has Been An Evolution In Cinema: KJo

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who arrived at the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, shared how the cinema, storyline, characters and politics have evolved with time.

He said that from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, it’s been like a journey, “I have been here for the past 25 years and I am glad there is an evolution. I think from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, it has been like a journey. From one love story in 1998 to another in 2023. The characters have evolved, the journey has evolved, politics have evolved, the communication about family, love and gender equality has evolved I hope so and I am glad that the film received so much love.”

‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ was released on July 28, 2023. The film emerged as a hit at the box office. It crossed Rs 150 crore mark in India.

The film revolves around Rocky Randhawa (Ranveer), a Punjabi businessman, and Rani Chatterjee (Alia Bhatt), a Bengali journalist, who fall in love despite their differences and family objections. They decide to live with each other’s families for three months before getting married.

Veteran stars Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan also starred in Karan Johar’s directorial.

On the film’s success, Karan penned an emotional note on Instagram. He wrote, “Prior to the release of this film, I felt that at any point of time I would need an IV drip and was near collapse!! The question I asked myself was – is it the long 7 year gap? Or the anxiety built over the last 3 years. Or the fact that we live in an ambiguous box office time. Whatever the real reason is – I was a bonafide mess! But the Friday, 28th of July, I felt nothing but gratitude, validation and sheer joy. This film is truly a product of team energy & love.”

He expressed gratitude to the writers, dress designers and musicians of the film and wrote, “I want to first express my deepest gratitude to the writing forces of this film – Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy, who guided me through the narrative journey of our film. Special mention to Ishita Moitra, who brought so much humour, introspection and cinema drama to the screenplay and crackling dialogues. This entire writing process would not have been possible without the creative governance & brilliance of Somen Mishra.”

“To my best friend and the couture maverick, Manish Malhotra and to the supremely talented Eka Lakhani for matching the sari to Gucci with equal elan! Manush Nandan – for painting every frame so so beautifully. The maestro editor, Nitin Baid for keeping me in check! The aesthetic force and the best hug in town – Amrita. To Sohel & Debu Da, for taking us to the finish line with sheer expertise. To my absolute favourite Pritam da and his entire team – for creating and weaving musical magic that enhanced every scene of the film. To Amitabh Bhattacharya for his genius mind!!” he added.

Coming back to IFFI, the guest list for the event also includes Vijay Sethupathi, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Sunny Deol, Karan Johar, Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal and Sukhwinder Singh, among others. (ANI)

Alia’s Mehendi Was From Her Real Marriage: Karan On ‘Kudmayi’

Filmmaker Karan Johar opened up about the shooting of the song ‘Kudmayi’ during the success party of his film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. He shared that the song was shot just four days after Alia Bhatt’s wedding to Ranbir Kapoor. So, the mehendi shown on the track was from her real wedding.

He said, “Those who have seen must have seen that the wedding of Rocky and Rani ‘takes place at the end of the film. There is a story behind it. We shot the wedding sequence of Alia and Ranveer Singh in the movie just after four days of Alia and Ranbir’s marriage. Alia got married two times in the same week, one real and the other the reel one. So, Alia’s mehendi was from her real marriage and we just darken it a little bit. We shot the song in Jaisalmer.”

He further added that “it broke his heart” that he couldn’t show the entire song and thus excited to unveil the complete video of the song, “We shot this song in Jaisalmer. But when the issue of length started everyone said it should be less than 250 minutes and must not cross the limit. Then have to edit out this song and it broke my heart.”

Karan Calls Kartik’s ‘Shehzada’,Entertainment Ka Zabardast Tadka

The trailer of Kartik Aaryan-starrer ‘Shehzada’ has been trending ever since it was unveiled on Thursday.

From fans to members of the film industry, almost everyone went gaga over the trailer. Surprisingly, filmmaker Karan Johar, too, heaped praises on team Shehzada.
Taking to Instagram, Karan wrote, “MASAALE SE BHARPOOR AUR ENTERTAINMENT KA ZABARDAST TADKA!

CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM SHEHZADA!”

What makes Karan’s post-attention-grabbing is his history with Kartik. Kartik and Janhvi were supposed to feature in KJo’s Dostana 2 and the film’s shooting had already begun. But Karan’s production company Dharma Productions released an official statement, stating that the film would be recast. Neither Dharma Productions nor Kartik has provided any further information about the matter.

Since then, Kartik and Karan have maintained a distance. However, now it seems like all is well between the two.

Coming back to ‘Shehzada’, the film also stars Kriti Sanon, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Ronit Roy, and Sachin Khedekar in the lead roles. It is all set to hit the theatres on February 10, 2023. ‘Shehzada’ also marks the debut of Kartik as a producer. (ANI)
