Befitting Answer On May 10: Modi

Telangana Needs To Be Wary Of People Nurturing Dynastic Rule, Graft: Modi

In a veiled attack on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao-led government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said Telangana needs to be very careful of people who nurture dynastic rule, nepotism and corruption.

Prime Minister Modi said he was pained at the non-cooperation of state government in the Centre’s projects.
Addressing the gathering at Parade Ground, Hyderabad, PM Modi said, “Serving people with utmost devotion is our primary goal. But I am very pained about one thing… It hurts a lot when the development and welfare measures by the central government do not fructify well due to hindrances posed by state governments. This has been happening in Telangana.”

He said due to the lack of cooperation from the state government, many central projects were getting delayed and it is the people who are the ultimate sufferers.

He said the state government should not allow any hindrance to development projects.

“I appeal to the Telangana government to not allow any obstruction to development measures, not make the people of Telangana the victims, not to deprive the state of prosperity,” he added.

Attacking the ruling BRS in Telangana without taking names, PM Modi said dynasty politics and corruption are not different. He said corruption flourishes where dynasty politics prevails.

Prime Minister Modi said, “In today’s new India, it is our priority to fulfill the aspirations of the countrymen. But a handful of people are very agitated by these development works. People, who keep nurturing dynastic rule, nepotism and corruption, are irked by those who work honestly. They are not concerned with the interest of the country and society. Such people only like to see their families flourishing. Telangana needs to be very careful about such people.”

He said those, who are trying to escape from their own corrupt acts by seeking protection from the court, received a jolt.

“We have enhanced the digital payment system across the country, but why did not this happen earlier? It did not happen because the dynastic forces did not want to give up their control over the system. The familists wanted to keep control of which beneficiary would get what benefit and how much. But today, Modi has attacked the very root of corruption,” PM Modi said.

The projects launched today in Telangana, Prime Minister said will further ‘Ease of Travel,’ ‘Ease of Living’ as well as ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the state.

He said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has been dedicated to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of Telangana’s people.

“In the last nine years, around 70 km of the Metro network has been laid in Hyderabad only,” the PM said.

He said Telangana is reaping the benefits of the efforts being taken to modernise railways in the entire country.

Referring to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Covid pandemic, PM Modi said India invested a record amount in the modernisation of infrastructure when the world was witnessing economic turbulence.

He said Rs 10 lakh crore has been allotted for infrastructure modernisation in this year’s budget.

In Telangana, PM Modi said the NDA government has been geared towards both industrial and agricultural development. The textile sector is what empowers both the farmers as well as labourers, he added.

He said the Centre decided to establish seven Mega Textile Parks across the country and one among these will be established in Telangana. It will not only boost employment but will also ensure overall development in the state, he said.

“Today’s new India…the new India of the 21st century, is rapidly building modern infrastructure in every corner of the country. Vande Bharat Express represents a convergence of faith, modernity, technology and tourism. Also, the inauguration and laying of the foundation stones for the development projects worth Rs 11,000 crore today mark a special day for Telangana,” he said.

These projects, PM Mod said, will boost connectivity and strengthen infrastructure in the state.

Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi flagged off Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express from Secunderabad Railway Station here. The latest in the Vande Bharat trains will reduce the travel time between the two cities by almost three-and-a-half hours, particularly benefitting pilgrims of both the Telugu states.

This is the first Vande Bharat Express of India connecting Tirupati — a city in Andhra Pradesh which is home to the important Hindu shrine of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple and other historic temples. This is India’s 13th Vande Bharat Express which will run between Secunderabad in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati.

Prime Minister Modi said, “Along with railways, the network of highways in Telangana is also being developed rapidly. Due to the continuous efforts of the central government, today the length of National Highways in Telangana has doubled. In the year 2014, there was about 2,500 km long National Highway here, which has increased to 5,000 km today. Work is underway on road projects worth Rs 60,000 crore for the development of Telangana, which includes the ‘game changer’ Hyderabad Ring Road.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday. He was received by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Bandi Sanjay was also present at the airport.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not receive PM Modi at the airport. Instead, the CM deputed state minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav to receive the Prime Minister at Begumpet airport in his absence.

The Telangana CM also skipped Prime Minister Modi’s programme in the state on Saturday. Chief Minister KCR was invited following the protocol.

KCR’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has been at loggerheads with the BJP, which is trying to make political and electoral inroads into Telangana. Assembly election in the state is due this year.

KCR, on the other hand, is trying to expand his party to other states as part of its national ambitions.

Last year, KCR renamed his party — the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) — to Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), marking the first step toward becoming a national party to counter the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He was also seen putting in efforts to unite the opposition parties for a united fight against BJP in next year’s general elections.

In a major thrust to infrastructure and connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth over Rs 11,300 crore in Telangana on Saturday.

In a programme at Parade Ground, Hyderabad, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station and other infrastructure projects.

During the programme, Prime Minister flagged off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, providing commuters with a fast, convenient and comfortable travel option.

He inaugurated the doubling and electrification of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar project. Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of National Highway projects worth more than Rs 7,850 crore.

Prime Minister further laid the foundation stone of AIIMS Bibinagar. AIIMS Bibinagar is being developed at a cost of more than Rs 1,350 crore.

The establishment of AIIMS Bibinagar is an important milestone in providing comprehensive, quality and holistic tertiary care health services to the people of Telangana at their doorstep, said the PMO statement. (ANI)

US Embassy Announces Initiative To Cut Visa Wait For Indians

The United States on Sunday announced new visa initiatives for Indians including special interviews for first-time applicants and greater strength of visa staff across the country to reduce wait times for first-time visa applicants.

As part of this initiative, the United States opened consular operations across the country to accommodate applicants who require in-person visa interviews.

“On January 21, the U.S. Mission in India launched the first in a series of special Saturday interview days, as part of a larger effort to reduce wait times for first-time visa applicants. The United States Embassy in New Delhi and Consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad all opened consular operations on Saturday to accommodate applicants who require in-person visa interviews,” the US embassy said in a statement.

“In the coming months, the Mission will continue to open additional slots for appointments to take place on select Saturdays,” the statement added.

The embassy said that the US government has implemented remote processing of interview waiver cases for applicants with previous U.S. visas. “Between January and March 2023, dozens of temporary consular officers from Washington and other embassies will arrive in India to increase processing capacity,” the statement added.

It also said the US State Department is also increasing the number of consular officers permanently assigned to the Embassy and Consulates.

“The U.S. Mission in India released more than 250,000 additional B1/B2 appointments. Consulate General Mumbai also extended its weekday operating hours to make space for additional appointments,” the statement added.

Consulate General Mumbai currently adjudicates the most visa applications in India and is one of the largest visa operations in the world, the embassy said.

“Our consular teams across India are putting in the extra hours to meet the needs of international travelers and bring down wait times,” said Mumbai Consular Chief John Ballard. “This is part of a Mission wide effort to find innovative solutions to facilitate travel to the United States.”

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in profound reductions in the Department’s visa processing capacity, and many of its embassies and consulates were at times only able to offer emergency services.

“As travel restrictions have been lifted, the U.S. Mission to India has made it a priority to facilitate legitimate travel and adjudicated over 800,000 nonimmigrant visas in 2022, including record numbers of both student and employment visas. In every other visa category, interview wait times in India are at pre-pandemic levels or lower,” the US embassy said.

“By this summer, the U.S. Mission in India will be at full staffing, and we expect to be processing visas at levels from prior to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the embassy added. (ANI)

Assets Worth Rs 80.65 Cr Of TRS Lawmaker Nama Nageshwar Rao

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached 28 immovable properties and other assets worth Rs 80.65 crore belonging to TRS MP Nama Nageshwar Rao and his family members in an ongoing money laundering case against Ranchi Expressway Ltd, Madhucon Projects Limited and its director and promoters, the agency said on Monday.

The ED has also attached the registered office of the Madhucon group of companies and residential property at Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The properties were attached under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2022.
Nama Nageshwar Rao is a promoter and director of the Madhucon group of companies and a personal guarantor to the Bank loan defaulted by the company.

ED has identified and attached immovable assets of Rs 67.08 crore at Hyderabad, Khammam, and Prakasham district and movable assets of Rs 13.57 crore including shareholding of Nama Nageshwar Rao and his family members in Madhucon Projects Ltd, Madhucon Granites Limited and in other Madhucon group of companies, totaling to Rs 80.65 crore.

Earlier in July this year, ED had also provisionally attached 105 immovable properties and other assets worth Rs 73.74 crore belonging to Madhucon Group of companies and its directors and promoters, which included the properties of Madhucon Projects Limited and group companies, Nama Nageshwar Rao and other promoter and director of the company after conducting multiple searches and recording multiple statements of promoters, subcontractors, bankers, engineers, and forensic auditors.

In a statement, the ED said, its investigation has revealed that the Madhucon Group promoters “siphoned off the loan funds of this project by taking the entire EPC Contract from its SPV, and then taking huge mobilization and material advances, but instead of using those advances for the work, used it in their other projects”.

Also, the ED said, direct cash of amount Rs 75.50 crore was generated by paying money and then receiving back the amount through six Shell Entities– Usha Projects, Shree BR Visions, Sri Dharma Sastha Constructions, Sree Nagendra Constructions, Ragini Infrastructure, and, Varalakshmi Constructions– which were completely under the control of their Chairman Nama Nageshwara Rao and his sibling Nama Seethaiah.

“These sub-contractors did no work, had no sufficient expertise, were based in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana, whereas the project was in North India, and they took large advances from MPL from the loan funds and then paid back huge amounts to Madhucon Group on the pretext of using the equipment and labor of Madhucon Group,” said the ED.

“So the funds came back to the Madhucon Group.”

The ED further said it has identified a direct diversion of Rs 361.29 crore from the bank loan obtained by Ranchi Expressways Limited. (ANI)

Security Gurad Ajit Speaks On BJP Campaign Main Bhi Chowkidar

RealChowkidar – ‘My Life Is Tough’

Ajit Bora, 49, who works as a security guard at a residential complex in Hyderabad, has heard of the BJP poll campaign but shrugs it off as a stunt. “The real ‘chowkidars’ have a difficult life,” he tells LokMarg.

The year 2014 was a turning point for both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I. We both started our careers as ‘chowkidars’. While Modi guarded the nation, I ensured the safety of a residential colony in Hyderabad’s Gachi Bowli area. I am originally from Assam. Circumstances forced me to migrate hundreds of kilometers away from home.

It could be a catchy slogan for political dividends, but being a chowkidar is not that easy. Be it rain or shine, we are expected to stand for long hours outside — 12 hours at a stretch in my case. The #MainBhiChowkidar campaign has indirectly brought us into the limelight. Through the campaign I hope, people, especially youngsters will learn to acknowledge and appreciate the work that we do.

As for me, the Hyderbadis have treated me with utmost respect. Irrespective of your class, the people in this city treat you well. The residential area I work is mostly inhabited by professionals from in the IT industry. We put in a lot of hard work in protecting people’s properties and a few kind words go a long way in encouraging us.

Before 2014, I was a farmer but the income wasn’t enough to support my family of four. The income is still not good but I do not have to borrow from others. I work around 12 hours a day (from 8 am-8 pm) and get paid around Rs 12,000 a month. Of this salary, I send Rs 8,000 home and manage with the rest of the money somehow, living in a small room and minimising all my expenses. I had tried looking for work in Assam itself. Not that there were no jobs but the wages were so low that I took a chance to come to a far-off Hyderabad.

If the government thought of giving us better facilities like pension etc. then probably the job would feel better. At my age not many people want to hire us because they think we might not be as agile as the young ones, so we don’t have the scope to put forward many demands. We make do with whatever has been given to us.

Life of a security guard is difficult; it is no mean feat to be on guard for the entire stretch. That is why I do not want my children to get into this profession.

Therefore, I feel it is important that we vote in a government that would work for its people. I take my voting rights seriously and had gone back home to Assam recently to vote for the Panchayat elections. Good leaders at least ensure that even if I am far away, my wife and children are being taken care of.

I like Modiji and his energy. He comes from a humble background and that is why perhaps talks about people like us. This campaign too has put the spotlight on workers from the unorganized sector. Let’s hope something good comes out of it.
