Serious Breach Of Security: Kharge On Security Breach In Parliament

After the Parliament security breach in Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Malliakrjun Kharge raised the issue in the House, saying that sufficient information on the security breach is not available, the matter is serious, LS also got adjourned, and RS should follow suit.

On the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament terror attack, there was a major security breach when two intruders entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitor gallery during Zero Hour.

“We request you, kindly adjourn. Let the Home Minister come and give more details,” Kharge raises security breach issue.

In response to Kharge, Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, Piyush Goyal said, “…I think Rajya Sabha is the House of Elders. We should give a message that this country’s strength is above all this. House proceedings should continue…I think Congress is politicising it and this is not a good message for the country.”

Earlier, Kharge said the issue of an incident of security breach in Lok Sabha is serious.

“The issue is very serious. This is not a question of just Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, this is about how two people were able to come inside despite such elaborate security and cause a security breach,” he added.

Speaker Jadgeep Dhankhar said, “The moment I came to know about it, I called the Director of Security. I told him to give him an update. The update which he gave me at the point of time, I have shared with the House. It is a matter of concern but let us await details and then we will be able to reflect.”

The Speaker said that a thorough investigation is underway regarding the security lapse in the House.

In a security breach in Lok Sabha, two men jumped into the House from the visitor’s gallery and had canisters in their hand, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said.

They released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by MPs.

Visuals showed an unidentified man jumping from the visitor’s gallery of Lok Sabha after which there was a slight commotion. The House was adjourned till 2 pm.

The incident happened when members were raising matters of urgent public importance and BJP MP Khagen Murmu was raising his issue.

Simultaneously, two individuals, including a woman, sprayed colored gas and shouted slogans outside the Parliament premises. (ANI)

Kharge, Sonia Pay Tribute To JL Nehru On His Birth Anniv

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary at Shantivan in the national capital on Tuesday.

“Paying tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji on his birth anniversary, who took India from zero to the pinnacle, the creator of modern India, the fearless guardian of democracy and our source of inspiration. His progressive ideas advanced India’s social, political and economic development despite all the challenges and encouraged the people of the country to live together at every moment, without any discrimination and always keeping the country first,” Congress President Kharge posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Children’s Day is celebrated on November 14 every year as a mark of respect to the first Prime Minister of independent India.

Nehru was fondly called ‘Chacha Nehru’ and was known for emphasising the importance of giving love and affection to children. After the death of Nehru, it was unanimously decided to celebrate his birthday as ‘Bal Diwas’ or Children’s Day in India.

Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. He breathed his last on May 27, 1964.

He became the Prime Minister on August 15, 1947, following an active role in the freedom struggle of the country.

On this day, a number of activities are organised for students in schools nationwide, such as games, competitions, and so on, while government bodies pay tribute to the late prime minister and organise commemorative events.

In 1954, the United Nations declared November 20 as Universal Children’s Day and India used to celebrate Children’s Day on that day before 1956 but after the death of Prime Minister Nehru in 1964, a resolution was passed in the Parliament unanimously declaring the day of Pt. Nehru’s birth anniversary as National Children’s Day. (ANI)

Kharge, Rahul Meet K’taka Congress Leaders To Discuss LS Poll Strategy

The Congress central leadership held a meeting with party leaders from Karnataka at its headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. About 50 leaders and ministers from Karnataka participated in the meeting with Central Congress leaders, including Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi.

Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar said on Tuesday that the meeting is for strategizing on an action plan for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“Ministers, MLAs, and other leaders are visiting Delhi to discuss strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The leaders have called a meeting in the interest of the party to discuss election strategy and distribution of responsibilities. In addition, all our guarantees will be discussed so that it reaches people of the state well,” Shivakumar said on Tuesday in Bengaluru.

The meeting will also likely discuss the criticism of many Congress MLAs that some ministers are not accessible to them.

In the Congress Legislative Party meeting, many MLAs said that some Ministers were not accessible to them, and raised grievances over the lack of funds for development works. (ANI)
