BJP May Hold General Elections In Dec, Before Due Date: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the central ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), might potentially conduct Lok Sabha elections as early as December, with the possibility extending to January.

“I suspect the BJP may hold elections this December itself, they may do so in January as well,” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday while addressing a rally on the occasion of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad Foundation Day.

The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held in 2024.

Speaking at a rally, she criticized the BJP for its actions and decisions regarding the appointment of the chief election commissioner.

“Chief Justice had asked to constitute a committee to appoint the chief election commissioner. They (the BJP) removed the Chief Justice from the panel and appointed a BJP cabinet minister in his place to appoint the chief election commissioner. What a lattu! He will keep spinning and disappear,” Mamata Banerjee said.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also claimed that the BJP has booked “all the helicopters” ahead of the parliament elections so that no other political party is able to get any helicopter.

“The BJP has booked all helicopters ahead of the parliament elections so that no other party can get any. This is their state. They think that money can buy anything,” she said.

Mamata Banerjee warned that India will be governed in an ‘autocratic’ way if the BJP comes back to power again.

“In India, Indians are not free because only the BJP is free here. If they come to power again, only the BJP will stay free and govern India in their autocratic way,” the TMC supremo said.

Taking on the BJP for raising ‘Goli Maro’ slogans in Jadhavpur, Mamata Banerjee dared, “Do you want to shoot? If you have the audacity, shoot at us. We will see to it.” The Bengal Chief Minister added that she has instructed the police to arrest those who have raised ‘Goli Maro’ slogans.

Mamata Banerjee claimed that someone texted her that Abhishek Banerjee would be arrested before the Lok Sabha election.

“Someone texted me yesterday that Abhishek will be arrested before the election. Do you know what they have done? They have taken whatever data he had on his computer…They uploaded some files created by them into his computer,” Mamata said.

“If you are experts in computers, we are no less…We presented facts and told them that they had uploaded these files to his computer,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also announced that the recently successful Chandrayaan 3 mission had 28 scientists from Bengal and the government plans to facilitate all of them very soon.

The Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) is celebrating its 26th foundation day. TMCP, the student wing of All India Trinamool Congress, was founded on August 28, 1998, months after Mamata Banerjee formed Trinamool Congress, following her difference with the Congress, on January 1, 1998. Banerjee broke away from the Congress with the objective of ousting the then-Left Front regime from power. (ANI)

‘Days of Rate Card For Jobs Gone’: Modi Takes A Dig At Lalu, Mamata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday targeted parties opposed to BJP including the Congress, Trinamool Congress and RJD and said there are dynastic parties that indulge “in nepotism and corruption” while the BJP-led government works to safeguard the future of the youth.

Addressing the National Rozgar Mela via video conferencing in which he distributed about 70,000 appointment letters to new appointees in various government departments and organizations, PM Modi said the entire world is eager to partner with India in its growth journey today.
In his speech, the Prime Minister talked about the ills of “dynasty politics and nepotism in the recruitment process” without taking the name of any political party.

In an apparent reference to reports about the probe into teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal revealing “rate card” for appointment to group D and group C services in municipalities and municipal corporations, he cautioned the youth about political parties “which engage in dynastic politics and loot the youth in the name of jobs”. The “scam” took place during Trinamool Congress government headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“One one side there are dynastic parties, those who indulge in corruption, indulge in the loot of the youth. Their way is ‘rate card’ while we work for safeguarding the bright future of the youth. The rate cards destroy your dreams while we are working to fulfil the dreams. The country will decide whether the future of the youth will be governed by the rate card or by the safeguard,” he said.

“How a rate card was prepared for every job posting similar to that of a menu card in a restaurant,” he asked.

PM Modi also took potshots at former Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad over the “land-for-jobs scam” and said the case is being investigated by CBI and is pending in courts.

He also took a veiled dig at the Congress-led government, saying “scam and misuse of the public money was the hallmark of governance” earlier.

“Today, India is known for its political stability which means a lot in today’s world. Today, the Government of India is recognized as a decisive government. Today, the government is known for its progressive economic and social decisions,” he said, adding that global agencies are acknowledging the work in ease of living, infrastructure building and ease of doing business,” he said.

The Prime Minister talked about the various initiatives of the government that have led to the creation of jobs and emphasized that compared to a decade ago, India is a more stable, safe and strong country.

He recalled the time when scam and misuse of the public was the hallmark of governance in earlier times.

PM Modi said that the global agencies are acknowledging the work in ease of living, infrastructure building and ease of doing business.

Noting that India has made huge investments in its physical and social infrastructure, PM Modi talked about the government’s efforts to ensure safe drinking water through the Jal Jeevan Mission.

He informed that about Rs 4 lakh crore are being spent on Jal Jeevan Mission.

“At the time of its inception, on average, 15 out of 100 rural habitats had piped water and now the number has risen to 62 out of every 100 households. And the work is going on at a rapid pace.” There are an estimated 130 districts that have reported full coverage of piped water.

“This is resulting in saving time and freedom from many waterborne diseases. Studies have shown that clean water has prevented about 4 lakh diarrhoea-related deaths and financial savings of 8 lakh crore rupees of people which were spent in managing water and treatment of diseases,” PM Modi said.

He also talked about the multiplier effect of the government schemes. (ANI)

Mamata Turned Bengal Into North Korea, Says Suvendu Adhikari, Detained

Kolkata Police has detained Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari and MP Locket Chatterjee ahead of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) protest march to state secretariat ‘Nabanna’ on Tuesday.

The BJP leaders were detained from Hastings in Kolkata when they were leading the Nabanna Chalo Abhiyan. Adhikari, Chatterjee and BJP leader Rahul Sinha were taken to Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar.

Before the detention, Adhikari said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost the support of people and turned West Bengal into North Korea.

“Chief Minister Mamata does not have the support of her people and so she is enforcing dictatorship, similar to North Korea in Bengal. Police will have to pay for what it is doing since Monday. BJP is coming,” Adhikari told ANI.

Kolkata Police has put up heavy barricading at Hastings near the state government’s new Secretariat in Kolkata ahead of BJP’s Nabanna Chalo march.

Buses carrying BJP workers, on their way to Kolkata to participate in the Nabanna Chalo march, were stopped by the police in North 24 Parganas.

Earlier today, a clash broke out between BJP workers and Police outside the Raniganj railway station as workers leave for Kolkata to take part in Nabanna Abhiyan on Tuesday.

Police took many workers into preventive custody in Raniganj.

Further, a clash broke out between BJP workers and police inside the Bolpur railway station as police prevented workers to leave for Kolkata to participate in the Nabanna Chalo march. Several workers were detained.

“With hundreds of BJP workers heading towards Kolkata to join BJP’s Nabanna march via trains, police barricaded paths to railway stations. 20 of our workers were stopped by police near Durgapur railway station. I reached here using other paths,” said BJP leader Abhijit Dutta.

Meanwhile, Police made heavy deployment of personnel to stop BJP’s Nabanna Abhiyan. The borders of Kolkata have been cordoned off with tight security to prevent the procession. A heavy barricading has been put up in Howrah also in view of the BJP’s march.

Various roads across Kolkata have been blocked with barricades. To prevent the procession, the West Bengal Police has turned the 5-kilometre radius around Nabanna into a fortress.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul on Monday said, “The preparations for Nabanna Chalo Abhiyan have been done. It is not just BJP’s protest, but the protest of all people of Bengal. Mamata Banerjee has to answer why her government has cheated the people of Bengal.” (ANI)
