U’khand: Higher Mountain Range In Chamoli, Badrinath Receives Fresh Snowfall

Uttarakhand was covered in a thick blanket of snow on Saturday morning after it received fresh snowfall overnight.

Higher mountain ranges in Joshimath including Chamoli district and the holy shrine of Badrinath in Chamoli district were covered in a blanket of snow received fresh snowfall.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in its weather report predicted “light to moderate rain/snowfall” likely to occur over most places in the state.

The Pandukeshwar area where Badri Nath temple is located was covered in 2 feet of snow, Regional Meteorological Centre marked.

However, the minimum temperature did not slip down to negative degrees. The report stated maximum temperatures remained above “normal” in the hills here.

Meanwhile, several parts of Himachal Pradesh were also covered in a thick blanket of snow.

Trees and houses in Mandhol were covered in white, while locals preferred to remain in the warm confines of their homes amid the heavy snowfall.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum and minimum temperatures in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday were recorded at 6 degrees Celsius and -4 degrees Celsius.

In the state’s higher reaches, Narkanda, Manali and the Malana villages in the Kullu district also received snowfall.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district also received a fresh round of snow and temperature in the region dipped significantly after the snowfall.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in its weather report stated that with the fresh snowfall on higher reaches and rains in the plains the graph of temperature has once again descended across the Doda region.

“The entire region has been gripped by a cold wave forcing people to wear warm clothes and stay indoors. The rush of people in Doda markets disappeared as people preferred to stay indoors due to the cold wave,” the Regional Meteorological Centre stated.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum and minimum temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday were recorded at 8 degrees Celsius and 0 degrees Celsius. (ANI)

Wagh Complaint: Uorfi To Join Mumbai Police Inquiry Today

Mumbai Police has called TV actress and social media influencer Uorfi Javed for an inquiry on Saturday in connection with a complaint lodged against her by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Chitra Kishor Wagh for “indulging in nudity publicly”.

The city police sent a notice to the former Bigg Boss contestant after the police commissioner ordered an inquiry into the matter. She was asked to appear for questioning at the Amboli police station.

The development comes a day after Uorfi filed a counter-complaint against BJP’s Maharashtra Mahila Morcha chief Wagh for her alleged remarks on the “Bepanaah” actor’s alleged “revealing dressing sense while in public”.

Starting December 30, the BJP leader has on several occasions took to Twitter to slam Uorfi for her dressing sense and also asked the women’s commission to take note and act.

“Half-naked women walk openly on the streets. Why is the Women’s Commission itself not taking notice of this? The protest is not against Uorfi but against the attitude of walking around openly in public places. And yes…the women’s commission will do anything or not?” Wagh recently tweeted in Marathi.

In another tweet in Marathi, she wrote, “Actions are not needed.. Is it the culture of our Maharashtra to walk naked in public places? Does @Maha_MahilaAyog support Uorfi’s display of body in Bhar Road in Mumbai which is very disgusting?”

A day after Wagh’s complaint against Uorfi, the actor on January 2 hit back at the BJP leader. Taking to her Instagram Stories, she shared a number of posts in her own style taking jibes at Wagh.

In the first post, the ‘Bepanaah’ actor shared an image of Chitra posing with a copy of her complaint. “I’m so proud of myself,” Uorfi Javed wrote alongside that image.

She also wrote alongside, “I don’t even want a trial or that bullshit, I’m ready to go to jail right now if you disclose your and your family member’s assets. Tell the world how much a politician earns and from where. Also from time to time multiple men in your party have been accused of harassment etc never. Started my new year with another police complaint from another Politician!…”

She even took to her Twitter and posted, “Chitra tai Meri khaas hai Future me hone wali saas hai.” In another tweet, she wrote, “Meri dp itni dhaasu, Chitra Meri saasu”.

On Friday, Uorfi’s lawyer Nitin Satpute said that the OTT star has complained to the Maharashtra State Commission for Women for threatening and criminal intimidation to harm the actor in the public domain.

The lawyer has requested preventive action under the relevant section of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

“I have lodged a complaint for the offence U/s 153(A)(B), 504, 506, 506(ii) of IPC Against BJP Party Worker Smt Chitra Kishor Wagh for Threatening, and Criminal Intimidation to cause harm to Model/Actress Urfi Javed on public domain,” the message from Uorfi Javed’s lawyer read.

“Requested for preventive Action U/s 149 and 107 of CrPC, (Chapter Proceeding against her as she is continuously committing a breach of peace in society by threatening on media ) today have mailed a complaint to Woman Commission and now about 12.30 I will meet smt Rupali Chakankar Chairman Woman Commission with a written complaint for taking further action,” the message further read.

Uorfi Javed has recently broken her silence on her fashion sense and said that “she is allergic to clothes”.

Taking to Instagram, Uorfi had dropped a photo in which she could be seen showing her legs filled with boils. “Anyone gets these allergies in winters?” she captioned the post.

Later, she shared another video in which she revealed that she got boils on her body after she wore some woollen clothes and captioned it, “I am literally allergic to clothes.”

“So now you guys know right why I don’t wear clothes. I have this serious condition. My body starts reacting after wearing clothes. The proof is there. So that’s why main itna nangi rehti hoon (So that’s why I prefer being nude),” Uorfi revealed.

Uorfi Javed rose to fame with her stint on ‘Bigg Boss OTT’, and ever since she has been making headlines for her bold yet peculiar fashion sense.

Celebrated filmmaker S S Rajamouli shared his fan-boy moment on Saturday as he met his ‘God’, Steven Spielberg.

Taking to Instagram, Rajamouli shared a couple of pictures, where he can be seen sharing the frame with the maestro director along with the composer MM Keeravani.
Rajamouli captioned a picture, “I just met GOD!!!” with some heart and fire emojis.

In the first picture, Rajamouli showed his child-like excitement with two hands on his face as he met the ‘Lincoln’ director. In the second, he shared the frame with his Golden Globe-winning composer MM Keeravani along with Steven Spielberg.

Soon after the pictures were posted online, fans rushed to the comment section and expressed their joy.

“CINEMA MEETS CINEMA”, a fan wrote.

“You both are legends who made our childhood memorable,” wrote another fan.

Though Rajamouli did not specify the occasion, it seems he met Spielberg on the sidelines of the 80th Golden Globe Awards, where ‘Naatu Naatu’ from his directorial ‘RRR’ won the award for Best Original Score on January 10.

After the historic win, Rajamouli took to Twitter and thanked everyone for showering abundant love on the RRR team.

He wrote, “SPEECHLESS..Music truly knows no boundaries. Congratulations & thank you PEDDANNA for giving me #NaatuNaatu. This one is special. I thank each and every fan across the globe for shaking their leg and making it popular ever since the release of #GoldenGlobes.”

‘Naatu Naatu’ a dance number featuring stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan, was competing against Taylor Swift’s ‘Carolina’ from Where the Crawdads Sing, ‘Ciao Papa’ from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Lady Gaga’s ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick, and ‘Lift Me U’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, performed by Rihanna.

Rajamouli’s directorial was also nominated in the Best Non-English Language Film category at the 80th Golden Globes but lost it to Argentina, 1985.

RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Ram Charan and Jr NTR played lead roles, respectively.

The film collected over Rs 1200 crore worldwide. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran also starred in the film. (ANI)

Several houses collapsed at Singhdhar in the Joshimath town of Uttarakhand in the midnight hours of January 2 and 3, sources said.

However, no lives were lost in these incidents, they added.
According to sources, cracks at several houses and a nearby temple started widening, to the point where they eventually collapsed.

Speaking to ANI, Harish, a local, said, “It happened on January 2. It was around 2.30 am when we were sleeping. We heard a noise as the cracks on the walls opened up and big chunks of concrete started falling off.”

“We were scared and spent the night under an open sky. We were shifted to a government school nearby the day after,” he said.

“Many important documents and household items were destroyed. But thankfully, no lives were lost. Some hotels in Manohar Bagh, too, have developed big cracks,” Harish added.

Another local resident, Rishi Devi, said while his residence and many others had developed cracks for some time, the municipality refused to act saying it had no order from the higher authorities.

“Our house had developed cracks for some time. We had requested the municipality for help. But over a span of two days, on January 2 and 3, our house as well as others collapsed. A nearby temple, too, collapsed and we even lost our cattle. Both my sons are jobless now,” Rishi Devi told ANI. (ANI)

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti on Saturday, thousands of devotees took the holy dip in the river Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

As devotees flocked to the river for the holy dip on the occasion of the harvest festival, a huge crowd was seen on the Varanasi ghats queuing up to offer prayers to the sun god.
To ensure that the tourists take the holy dip safely, bath kunds have been developed on floating jetties. Handicraft, ODOP, GI. Product stalls have been integrated with the tent city which will act as a sustainable economic platform for the local population.

Makar Sankranti is a festival in the Hindu calendar, in which devotees make offerings to the deity Surya. The day marks the first day of the sun’s transit into the Makara, marking the end of the month with the winter solstice and the start of longer days.

Makar Sankranti, which is one of the most auspicious times in the year that marks the transition of the Sun from Dakshinayan to Uttarayan.

Observed on January 14 every year, the festival is known by various names in different parts of the country such as Pongal, Bihu, and Maghi. Devotees in several parts of the country performed rituals at different ghats.

Several Hindu devotees and Naga Sadhus from different parts of the country gathered at Kolkata’s Babu Ghat to take a holy dip during Gangasagar Mela on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. (ANI)

The trailer of Kartik Aaryan-starrer ‘Shehzada’ has been trending ever since it was unveiled on Thursday.

From fans to members of the film industry, almost everyone went gaga over the trailer. Surprisingly, filmmaker Karan Johar, too, heaped praises on team Shehzada.
Taking to Instagram, Karan wrote, “MASAALE SE BHARPOOR AUR ENTERTAINMENT KA ZABARDAST TADKA!

CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM SHEHZADA!”

What makes Karan’s post-attention-grabbing is his history with Kartik. Kartik and Janhvi were supposed to feature in KJo’s Dostana 2 and the film’s shooting had already begun. But Karan’s production company Dharma Productions released an official statement, stating that the film would be recast. Neither Dharma Productions nor Kartik has provided any further information about the matter.

Since then, Kartik and Karan have maintained a distance. However, now it seems like all is well between the two.

Coming back to ‘Shehzada’, the film also stars Kriti Sanon, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Ronit Roy, and Sachin Khedekar in the lead roles. It is all set to hit the theatres on February 10, 2023. ‘Shehzada’ also marks the debut of Kartik as a producer. (ANI)

In a shocking revelation in a fresh chargesheet in the Jamaat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh case registered in April last year in Madhya Pradesh, the NIA said a Bihar-based operative of the banned outfit translated “Jihadi literature from Urdu/Arabic to Hindi” and uploaded it on social media groups for its circulation amongst impressionable Muslims.”

Ali Asgar alias Abdullah Bihari alias Umair, a resident of East Champaran district in Bihar who has been named in the supplementary chargesheet, had been deeply influenced by the ideology of various proscribed terrorist organizations, such as JMB and Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent with an intention to further its activities in India, mentions the charge-sheet.
Asgar entered into a criminal conspiracy with his associates to influence, radicalize and motivate Indian Muslims to prepare for violent jihad against the Indian State, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) informed the court through the charge sheet.

“In pursuance of the said criminal conspiracy, accused Ali Asgar translated Jihadi literature from Urdu/Arabic to Hindi and uploaded it on social media groups for its circulation amongst impressionable Muslims,” the chargesheet mentioned.

Investigations have further established that Ali Asgar was involved in causing disaffection against India through false and distorted preachings that democracy was anti-Islamic and Muslims were being persecuted in India because of democracy, said the chargesheet.

The NIA filed the chargesheet before a special court in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh against Asgar in the JMB case pertaining to the arrest of 10 active cadres of the proscribed terrorist organization, including six illegal immigrants of Bangladesh, in March last year.

Asgar was chargesheeted under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The case was initially registered on March 14 last year by Bhopal Police and re-registered by the NIA on April 5 last year.

NIA had earlier filed a chargesheet against six accused on September 7 last year.

The case was filed based on reliable information received that four illegal immigrants namely Fazar Ali, Jahiruddin Ali, Jain-Ul-Abdin, and Mohammad Akhil Ahmed Shaikh, residing at the house of Nayab Jahan located near Fatima Bi Masjid, Aishabag Police Station area in Bhopal district in Madhya Pradesh, were propagating the ideology of JMB and were raising funds for the organization and motivating youth to perform Jihad against India.(ANI)

In view of the land subsidence incident in Uttarakhand’s Joshimath, the State Cabinet on Friday approved an amount of Rs 45 crore as relief funds for the affected families.

The Cabinet also cleared a proposal to waive the electricity bill of all those affected for six months starting from November 2022. Also, it approved the proposal for providing employment under MNREGA to two members of each of the affected families.
The cabinet meeting was led by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and discussions on key issues including relief for the people of affected areas were discussed.

“We have shifted 99 families from Joshimath so far and Rs 1.5 Lakh ex-gratia is being given. Assessment for rehabilitation is underway and we’re making key decisions for the future,” Dhami said after the meeting.

Affected people will be provided with a room or Rs 950 daily for accommodation Rs 450 shall be given for food. The cabinet also cleared a proposal to prepare a final package proposal and send the same to the union government within a week.

The cabinet has also approved the proposal for a geological survey to be conducted in the affected areas. Also, for assessing carrying capacity in hill stations in different phases.

Earlier today, former Union Minister Uma Bharti met CM Dhami and discussed the security arrangements made for the affected families in Joshimath. (ANI)

In the promo released by Colors TV, comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa are seen marking their presence during the ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode. The two arrived on the sets of the reality show with their son Gola aka Laksh Limbachiya.
After coming onto the stage Bharti recalled Salman’s promise and joked, “Saare vaade yaad hai Salman bhai ke. Inhone kaha tha ki inke bache ko mein launch karuga.(I remember all your promises made to me and how you said that you would launch my son).”

Further, Bharti went and brought her son Laksh on the stage and made him meet Salman. The highlight of the video is Salman holding Gola in his arms and gifting his trademark bracelet to the little one. Salman is also seen dancing with Golaa in the video.

Salman’s gesture won many hearts.

Reacting to this adorable video of Laksh and Salman, a social media user commented, “How cute. Salman is the best.”

Another one wrote, “Salman bhai ache father banenge iski jhalak dekhli aaj.”

Haarsh and Bharti became parents to Gola in April 2022.

Veteran actor Neetu Kapoor, on Friday, extended heartfelt wishes to her daughter-in-law Alia Bhatt and son Ranbir Kapoor as they celebrate the first Lohri with their daughter Raha.

Taking to Instagram, Neetu shared a picture on her story and wrote, “Happy first Lohri.”

In the picture, Alia and Ranbir can be seen holding their daughter, and a small football jersey hangs on the wall that reads “Raha”.

The ‘Brahmastra’ couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed a baby girl on November 6 last year.

Announcing the baby’s arrival, Alia via an Instagram post said, “And in the best news of our lives:- Our baby is here…and what a magical girl she is. We are officially bursting with love – Blessed and obsessed PARENTS!!!! Love love love Alia and Ranbir.”

The power couple announced their pregnancy in June this year.

They tied their knot on April 14, 2022, after dating for years at Ranbir’s Mumbai residence in an intimate ceremony.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Neetu recently announced the wrap of her upcoming film ‘Letters to Mr. Khanna’.

Alia, on the other hand, was recently seen in the sci-fi action film ‘Brahmastra: Part 1- Shiva’ alongside Ranbir, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film was declared a blockbuster hit.

She will be next seen in Karan Johar’s upcoming romantic film ‘Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ opposite Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. The film is all set to hit the theatres on April 28, 2023.
