BJP Parliamentary Meet

BJP Parliamentary Meet: Modi Asks Leaders To Be Ready For A Strong Fight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who attended the BJP parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday asked the leaders to be ready for a “strong fight” stating that the more the party rises and succeeds, the more will be attacks from the opposition.

The BJP parliamentary party meeting took place this morning in the Parliament complex here. This was the first time that this meeting has taken place in the ongoing second part of the session.
The meeting began with the BJP MPs congratulating PM Modi for leading them to score three big wins in the recently concluded Assembly elections in the northeastern states. PM Modi was felicitated by the party leaders for the party’s win in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland where they have a coalition government.

According to sources, the Prime Minister said, “The more, the BJP continues to taste success and rise, the more the attacks from the other side will increase. Have to be ready for a strong fight”.

PM Modi’s remark came at a time when the Parliament has been in a logjam in which the opposition continues to demand a JPC on the Adani-Hindenburg issue, and the BJP has demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for insulting the prime minister.

While the opposition parties continue to call Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as MP from Lok Sabha an attack on democracy, BJP and NDA MPs continue to attack the congress party and Rahul Gandhi for insulting Veer Savarkar and OBC community.

The opposition staged a protest on Monday wearing black attire and marched from the Parliament complex to Vijay Chowk against the Centre over their demand for a JPC into the Adani issue.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge hit out at the Centre over the Adani issue and Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as Lok Sabha MP and said that the opposition leaders are wearing black attire to show that democracy is being trampled in the country.

Kharge alleged that the Centre used the probe agencies to bend those who did not bow before the government.

“I thank the opposition leaders for raising their voices against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification. Why are we here in black clothes? We want to show that PM Modi is ending democracy in the country. He first finished autonomous bodies, then they put up their own govt everywhere by threatening those who had won polls. Then they used ED, CBI to use bend those who didn’t bow,” Kharge said. (ANI)

‘Sikhs Understand Amritpal’s Agenda; He Has No Support On Ground’

Nirmal Singh, the president of Kendri Singh Sabha in Lucknow, says that the right place for a zealot like Amritpal Singh is behind the bars. His views:

The Sikhs are a community known for their brave sacrifices and love for the nation. Members of our community have been the torchbearers of a cordial and peaceful existence with all human beings, irrespective of caste, creed or belief. Our ‘langars’ have earned us all-round goodwill for providing food and other necessities to everyone without discrimination. In a difficult situation like the recent pandemic, Sikhs were at the forefront of voluntary services for the needy.

Let me come to Amritpal Singh, a self-proclaimed leader who has come out of nowhere and began talking about Khalistan, opening old wounds. Who has given him the right to represent us and raise non-issues to seek attention or notoriety? To my mind, he merely represents a bunch of anti-social elements trying to disturb the peace and harmony of a state which requires growth and development.

Take a close look and you can see through the narrative being built around him. Till September 2022, this man wasn’t even wearing the Sikh pagadi. It was in late September that his dastar-bandi (turban-tying ceremony) took place in the village of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala. Could one not see how things were shaping up towards a rabble-rousing agenda?

I also have a question for the law enforcement agencies: Were they twiddling their thumbs when Amritpal was making one outrageous claim after another? Why did they came into action only after Amritpal, along with a group of goons, attacked a police station and challenged the system? The media also acted irresponsibly by lapping up whatever this madcap had to speak before cameras.

ALSO READ: Rise Of Amritpal Linked To Socio-Political Crisis

We, as Indians, have always believed in world unity orVasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and have never ever supported the idea of Khalistan. Why should everything be looked through the prism of Khalistan and separatism when the ground reality in Punjab is that the people feel that both these issues have no support or presence on the ground?

Social media is also to be blamed for the fuss that is being created in Punjab. I went to Punjab by road from Lucknow and, believe me, I didn’t see any such undercurrent of a separate homeland for Sikhs. All this drama was being catered on social media about Amritpal where police action was being projected as oppressive.

There are claims (on social media) that he (Amritpal) has large-scale local support and sympathy which is making it difficult for the police to arrest him. But during my visit to the state I could not find a single person supporting his stupid cause. I suspect there are some external forces involved who wish to disturb the peace and harmony of India as we are making strides in economic growth.

Only a minuscule may be supporting the radical stream, and the people of Punjab will ensure that their motives do not gain any further ground. People are wise enough to understand the motive behind this – to divide people by bringing religion into the narrative. But at ground level, they understand the hidden agenda and are united to counter such a divisive movement.

BSP To Contest Karnataka Assembly Elections

BSP To Contest Karnataka Assembly Elections

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday announced that BSP will contest the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections.

Taking to Twitter, Mayawati said, ” BSP will contest elections alone on its own strength in Karnataka assembly elections to be held soon. Names of 60 per cent candidates were finalized in an important meeting held in Delhi today.”

“The list of selected BSP candidates will be released locally soon. Along with this, the state unit has been given strict instructions that in the remaining assembly seats, most of the party’s dedicated and hardworking workers should be promoted and fielded in the election,” he added.

On BSP supremo Mayawati’s decision to contest the Karnataka assembly elections alone, Yogi Government’s Minority Welfare Minister in Uttar Pradesh Danish Azad said, “everyone has the right to contest elections, be it BSP or any other political party. It is her decision but I can say that today the country has faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The countrymen have full faith in the work done by Prime Minister Modi for the progress of the country, to increase its respect, no matter how hard the opposition parties try, but Modi ji rules in the hearts of people. I have full faith that BJP’s victory is certain,” he added.

Jack Ma Spotted In Mainland China After A Year

Jack Ma Spotted In Mainland China After A Year

Chinese magnate Jack Ma has returned to mainland China after spending roughly a year overseas, according to people familiar with the matter, reported Wall Street Journal.

Jack Ma, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s billion co-founder, travels have drawn a great deal of attention as China attempts to win back the trust of entrepreneurs after years of regulatory restrictions and Covid-19 epidemic measures that severely damaged the nation’s private enterprises. Some in the business world saw the tech titan’s prolonged absence as proof that the tech industry in China was still plagued by uncertainty.

Ma, who spent the majority of the previous year in Japan, recently made a trip back to China, according to the sources quoted by Wall Street Journal. He recently visited Singapore and Australia and spent the most recent Lunar New Year in Hong Kong.

Requests for comments from Alibaba and the Jack Ma Foundation were not immediately met with a response.

At his first news conference in his new role earlier this month, China’s new premier spent a significant amount of time assuring entrepreneurs that Beijing supports the private sector and that its “commitment in this area is unequivocal and constant.”

The South China Morning Post, which belongs to Alibaba, first announced Ma’s return to China, reported Wall Street Journal.

Ma has maintained a low profile after Ant Group Co. cancelled initial public offerings in Hong Kong and Shanghai that were expected to raise more than USD 34 billion in November 2020.

The cancellations happened as a result of authorities’ anger over Ma’s remarks at a financial forum. Authorities then opened an investigation against Alibaba for allegedly engaging in anticompetitive activities on its e-commerce platform, and the company was ultimately slammed with a record-breaking USD 2.8 billion fine.

Soon after, China began a broad regulatory crackdown on other private companies, increasing regulations on everything from video games and education to real estate.

Ma relinquished leadership of Ant Group in January after the company’s shareholders approved a restructuring of business. The crackdown on the fintech operations of more than a dozen internet companies was “basically” over, according to the party chief at China’s central bank, who made the statement on the same day.

Ma has mostly disappeared from public view since giving a speech that criticised regulators on the eve of the cancelled Ant listing in 2020.

Regulators had pulled the plug on November 3, 2020, on the initial public offering of Ant Group, the internet finance giant, which had been all but ready to press “Go” on its USD 34-billion stock debut in Shanghai and Hong Kong, the New York Times had reported.

NYT had reported that the initial public offering would have brought in more cash than did Saudi Aramco, the state-run oil giant when it went public last year.

And Ant would have raised the money on the opposite side of the planet from New York, which has long been the favoured listing destination for Chinese tech groups.

Ant Group’s controller Jack Ma, executive chairman Eric Jing and CEO Simon Hu were summoned and interviewed by regulators in China, according to a statement from the China Securities Regulatory Commission. (ANI)

Karnataka BJP Legislator Madal Arrested In Bribery Case

Karnataka BJP Legislator Madal Arrested In Bribery Case

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Madal Virupakshappa has been arrested by the Lokayukta police near Kythasandra toll gate in Tumakuru, in a bribery case, after his bail application was rejected by the Karnataka High Court on Monday.

The BJP MLA was arrested while he was on his way to Bengaluru from Channagiri after attending an event.

Virupakshappa, who was the first accused in the case, was granted interim anticipatory bail by a single-member bench of the High Court.

The High Court on Monday dismissed the main petition filed by the MLA seeking bail.

Lokayukta police started searching for Virupakshappa soon after the High Court verdict was announced.

Several Lokayukta police had started a search, including a house in Bangalore and a house in Channeshpur (Madal) in Channagiri.

Virupakshappa, who had left Channagiri, was coming to Bengaluru just as the High Court order came out.

A team of Lokayukta police officials stopped the MLA’s car near the Kyathsandra toll gate in Tumakuru. The BJP MLA was arrested and brought to Bengaluru.

Lokayukta sources said, “Preparations are being made to interrogate MLAs as there is a lot of information to be obtained regarding the case.”

The Supreme Court on March 14 agreed to hear the Karnataka Lokayukta plea against the High Court’s decision to grant anticipatory bail to BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa in a corruption case.

The counsel appearing for Karnataka Lokayukta mentioned his plea and sought an urgent hearing of his appeal against anticipatory bail granted to BJP MLA.

Notably, BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa whose son was arrested while he was taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh on March 3, appeared before Lokayukta in Bengaluru on Match 9.

Anti-corruption branch of Lokayukta had arrested his son Prashanth Madal for bribery of Rs 40 lakh.

Initially, the lawyer mentioned the plea before the bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who asked the petitioner to go before another bench headed by Justice SK Kaul.

CJI said, “He is the part of a constitution bench who is hearing a different matter so they will not be able to take up Karnataka Lokayukta matter.”

When the lawyer mentioned his plea before a bench headed by SK Kaul, the judge said, “What was the urgency for listing of the plea?”

The lawyer replied and said, “The accused is a sitting legislator.” Thereafter, Justice Kaul directed to list the matter at the earliest.

“The anti-corruption branch of Lokayukta caught Prashanth Madal, son of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa while taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh. Over Rs 1.7 crore in cash was recovered from his office,” Karnataka Lokayukta had earlier said.

Lokayukta was on duty after getting a complaint about the demand for a bribe. Over Rs 1.7 crore cash was found at Prashanth Madal’s office, Lokayukta officials said.

Speaking to reporters, Virupakshappa said that the money found in the raid was his “earned money”.

“It was our earned money. I have not done any illegal transactions as president of KSDL. We kept the money from our groundnut plantation and crusher at home. This money was discovered during the Lokayukta raid. I have a document for that money and I will give it,” he said.

He further said that he would not quit the party even after the party expelled him from the primary membership.

“However, I will not quit the BJP. I will prove my innocence in the case and I will get a clean chit in a legal battle. BJP is my mother party,” he added. (ANI)
