Sikandar Kher

Sikandar Shares Scary Moment From ‘Aarya Antim Vaar’ Sets

Actor Sikandar Kher who will be seen in the final chapter of the third season of ‘Aarya’ has opened up about a scary moment from the sets of the crime thriller drama.

Kher who essays the character of Daulat in hit web series said, “Shooting for the climax of ‘Aarya Antim Vaar’ was fascinating. Ram was directing the climax, and we had built shamianas for the shoot. Ram is not only very considerate but also very sharp; the shamiana helped with the lighting and provided comfort for the actors in the scorching heat with everything open. We had a limited amount of time, and Ram aimed to wrap up a big chunk quickly while ensuring everyone’s comfort.”

He added, “I remember landing in Rajasthan with Ram Madhvani and Amita Madhvani. He received a call from the art director reporting that one of the shamianas had flown into the air, a very scary incident as anyone could get injured. There was this one day on location while rehearsing when, right in front of my eyes, a shamiana hammered down with iron flew into the air due to the strong wind. It was a crazy moment. When you watch the show, you’ll eventually see that the shamianas were not used because it’s too risky.”

Recently, the makers unveiled the much-awaited trailer of the web series.

Taking to Instagram, streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar treated fans with the trailer video and captioned it, “Ek aakhri baar, Sherni karegi ek antim vaar. #HotstarSpecials #Aarya Season 3 – Antim Vaar – streaming from Feb 9th. #AaryaS3OnHotstar.”

Yami Gautam

Yami Recalls Shooting For Article 370 During Pregnancy

Yami Gautam is currently occupied with the promotion of her upcoming film ‘Article 370’. During the trailer launch, she and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar confirmed the news of their pregnancy and she admitted that shooting during that time period was mentally exhausting for her.

She also shared that she shot action sequences during the first few months of pregnancy, and she acknowledged her husband, Aditya, and her team as being her strongest supporters.

She said, “It was challenging. It was mentally draining too. I could write a thesis on it. There are so many questions, the firsts are always challenging. Suppose you ask me about motherhood and everything coming together. In that case, I really don’t know what I would have done had Aditya not been there by my side, Lokesh bhayiyaa (Dhar) (brother-in-law), and everyone…”

The film required her to perform a number of action sequences for which she received extensive preparation. Yami explained that it wasn’t difficult because by the time she found out she was pregnant, she just had the dubbing part to do. She elaborated further, saying,

Yami added, “There was rigorous training that was involved for the film. You want to be cautious, and careful and I am thankful to all the doctors who were supervising this secretly. But luckily, I had only the talkie portions left to shoot. So we could manage. But this felt surreal because the baby was also a part of it. Some of the inspiration also came from how I saw my mother work her way through. We Indian women are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. “

Dhar also expressed his excitement and shared, “It was an amazing time because of the way the film happened and the way we got to know about the baby honestly, it almost felt like..wo Abhimanyu waali story yaad aa gyi (it reminded me of Abhimanyu’s story). The baby knows exactly about how 370 was abrogated…..We will get to know that if it’s gonna be Laxmi or a Ganesha….. “

The couple, who tied the knot in 2021, announced the news of pregnancy at the trailer launch of their film ‘Article 370’.

While interacting with the media, Aditya said, “Our baby is on its way.”

Yami is reportedly five-and-a-half months pregnant. Her delivery is due in May 2024.

She marked a stunning appearance at the event of ‘Article 370’. Yami and Aditya got married in a private ceremony on June 4, 2021, in Himachal Pradesh. The duo had previously worked together in the 2019 war-action drama ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’.

Talking about the film, ‘Article 370’, it is directed by National Award-winning Aditya Suhas Jambhale.

It is poised to deliver an intense narrative, edge-of-the-seat experience with some powerhouse performances. The film is headlined by Yami Gautam together with Priyamani.

Briefing about ‘Article 370’ Yami Gautam said earlier, “‘Article 370’ is a bold chapter of India’s history. A political-action-drama inspired by true events, which will show an in-depth portrayal of how intelligence and politics work hand in hand to take some of the most important decisions that change the course for a nation. I am hopeful that the audience will enjoy this genre-defining film. Personally, for me as an actor, this film gave me the opportunity to delve into newer depths of complexities and once again gave me a role that hasn’t been treaded before.”

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar, the film is slated to release in cinemas on February 23. (ANI)

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held a meeting with his Greek counterpart, Athanasios Ntokos, and discussed the shared vision of the Prime Ministers of India and Greece.

The meeting between the two NSAs delved into various facets of collaboration, spanning security, technology, and infrastructure.

They engaged in a comprehensive discussion, addressing key issues such as institutional linkages between their respective National Security Councils. Emphasising global and regional security, the dialogue encompassed cooperative efforts in the global commons of cyber, space, and seas.

They also discussed prospects for cooperation in futuristic technologies, defence, ports and transnational connectivity projects.

On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also exchanged views on key regional issues with Greece’s National Security Advisor Athanasios Ntokos.

EAM Jaishankar further stated that the key regional issues are very much in tune with our strategic partnership.

“Delighted to meet NSA Dr Athanasios Ntokos of Greece. An exchange of views on key regional issues, very much in tune with our strategic partnership,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.

Earlier in December last year, Greece’s Ambassador to India Dimitrios Ioannou said that India has a lot to offer to Greece and vice versa as there are certain complementaries between the two nations.

Highlighting the ties between the two nations, Ioannou noted that the relations between India and Greece have always remained “very good” but added that there was a sentimental affinity there. He called Greece a gateway for India to Europe.

He stated that Greece offers a lot of opportunities for Indians to come and invest in Greece and added that Greek cities like Athens and Thessaloniki can become the next Dubai for Indians in the future.

In August last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to Greece for his maiden visit to Greece at the invitation of his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He was the first Indian Prime Minister in the last 40 years to visit Greece. The last prime ministerial visit from India to Greece was in 1983.

In modern times, the two countries have developed a warm relationship based on a common commitment to democracy, peace and development in the world and to a social system imbued with principles of justice and equality, The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted.

Moreover, India and Greece share common approaches to many international issues, such as UN reforms and Cyprus.

Additionally, Greece sees India to be a good potential economic and commercial partner. (ANI)

Lok Sabha 2024 elections AAP Assam

AAP Declares Candidates For 3 LS Seats In Assam

With only a few months remaining for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, the Aam Aadmi Party announced three seats in Assam on Thursday, stressing that the party is now tired of talking with INDIA bloc partners.

Addressing a press conference, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak announced that AAP candidate Manoj Dhanohar will contest from Dibrugarh, Bhaven Chaudhary from Guwahati and Rishi Raj from Sonitpur.

During his address, the AAP MP said discussions with the INDIA bloc have been going on for months and stressed a sense of urgency, stating that the party is weary of continuous talks and needs to participate and succeed in the elections.

“Talks with the INDIA alliance have been going on for months. We are growing tired of merely talking now. We have to contest the elections and win them too. We don’t have time. We stand with the INDIA alliance and hope that the alliance allots these three seats announced today to the AAP,” he said.

“When you come into an alliance and your target is to win the election, time and strategy are paramount. We have become tired of talking. How much more time will be wasted in talking,” he added.

Reacting to the AAP’s move, Assam BJP leader Hemanga Thakuria said that the INDI alliance won’t last long.

He said that the BJP had already predicted the short-lived nature of the INDI alliance when it was established in Delhi, and recent events have proven the stance.

“When the INDI alliance was formed in Delhi, then only we said that it wouldn’t last long, and now it has been proved. Already Nitish Kumar has joined our NDA, in West Bengal TMC is distancing itself from Congress, and now the AAP has declared three seats. The INDI alliance is now dissolved.”

Emphasizing BJP’s ‘Mission 400’, BJP leader Hemanga Thakuria said that the opposition should now realize that PM Modi is ‘unstoppable’.

He further asserted that the BJP alliance is going to win more than 12 seats in Assam and the party is working for it. (ANI)

Shoot-At-Sight Order Issued In Nainital After Violence Over Anti-Encroachment Drive

Communal tension gripped the Haldwani area of Nainital district on Thursday evening after violence broke out in Banbhoolpura following an anti-encroachment drive.

The district magistrate of the district has imposed a curfew in Banbhoolpura.

Also, a shoot-at-sight order has been issued against the rioters.

Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar told ANI that the state government has also demanded the Ministry of Home Affairs for additional police forces and has deployed four additional central forces.

“Around 4 pm today, a joint team of District Administration and Police was conducting an anti-encroachment drive in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani as per the Court’s order. Opposing that, a few anti-social elements pelted stones and caused arson. It is also being said that they fired at the police using illegal weapons. DIG Kumaon reached the spot immediately and additional police forces have also been called there. The State Government has also demanded that the MHA provide additional Police forces. MHA has made 4 companies of additional central forces available to us,” Kumar said.

He further said that the situation, however, is under control.

According to the Uttarakhand DGP, several police personnel and administration officials sustained injuries during the violence and are undergoing treatment at hospitals.

“CM called an emergency meeting at his residence sometime back…As of now, the situation is under control. Naveen Patnaik VK Pandian

Naveen Patnaik Inspired Me To Join Politics: VK Pandian

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s close aide VK Pandian said that he was inspired by the Chief Minister to join politics.

“I decided because I was inspired by the Chief Minister, the way he was into public service. And it was not a grand plan or something for me to enter,” Pandian said in a free-wheeling conversation with ANI.

The former civil servant shared that his decision to join politics was completely unplanned and his batch-mates might have laughed when they found out that he had resigned from service and joined a political party.

“I would say that one year back if you had asked me, “Are you going to join politics?” I would have firmly said a ‘no’. My batch-mates will laugh if they know that I have resigned and I have joined a party because it was not in my plan at all,” Pandian said.

The ex-bureaucrat said that he noticed the love and affection of people while on a tour of the districts in Odisha, a year ago and that is when he thought he needs to go beyond the limits of “bureaucratic rules” while reaching out to the people.

“Eight, nine months back, I started touring the districts. And I saw the love and affection of people. It was very humbling. I thought that I should not be bound by bureaucratic rules in reaching out to the people. And that is the only reason why I resigned and joined, inspired by the Chief Minister. But I had no plans whatsoever to join politics. No plans,” Pandian said.

Sharing more about his career-altering tour, the former bureaucrat said that he travelled to all 30 districts of the State as part of reaching out to the people when the footfall at the chief minister’s grievance cell fell post-pandemic.

“I have always travelled with the Chief Minister. This time I travelled on my own to all 30 districts, 146-147 constituencies. We took this exercise because, after COVID, the footfall in the chief minister’s grievance cell had reduced. We had closed the Chief Minister’s grievance cell for two years because of Covid. After that it never picked up. People had stopped coming. There was very less footfall in the grievance cell. So the chief minister decided, why don’t we reach out? This is the first time in a state, in any state, the Chief Minister’s office went and did grievance in a decentralized manner, in constituencies, in blocks,” he shared.

Pandian said that on that tour he committed to people to solve their problems in a stipulated time and all the timelines were met “magically”.

“I committed to people that your problem, this problem will be solved in 10 days, this problem will be solved in 15 days, this problem will be solved in one month, the system rose to that occasion and with the Honourable Chief Minister’s guidance, whatever timelines we had set, it was all being met. It was completely magical. We had thousands of petitions, all transparent way, it has been disposed of,” the former civil servant said.

Pandian said his “inner call” to join politics came when he met those people that he realised the “strong connect” with them. He said he came to understand that he would not be able to reach out to them if he remains as continues to stay in the bureaucracy.

“So when I went to the people, when I met them, I realized that there is a strong connect with people. And I thought being a bureaucrat, I won’t be able to reach out to them. I have to get out of bureaucracy. It was an inner call,” he shared.

Speaking about being inspired by the Chief Minister he said that he has noticed the way Patnaik handles various situations and how he reacts to criticism throughout the decades which has moved him.

“I think one gets inspired being with him for more than a decade. You are working so closely with him. You get to see how he reacts to situations, how he reacts to criticism. So you get inspired by him. Perhaps something of him has rubbed in me. But you know he has a number of years of experience,” he said.

Pandian said that when he joined the bureaucracy, he was allotted Punjab cadre initially in the year 2000 but after the Super Cyclone he decided to go to Odisha instead because Naveen Patnaik had taken over as the Chief Minister.

“I got Punjab cadre initially in 2000. And in 1999, Super Cyclone had hit Odisha very badly. Odisha was in a very bad shape. So there was a dilemma of which cadre I should move. So I decided to go to Odisha because Mr Naveen Patnaik had taken over as Chief Minister of Odisha. And the director of our academy said that go to Odisha, you will get great chance to work. And there is an honest person who has become Chief Minister. So you will get great scope to work. So, that’s how I came to Odisha,” he said.

Speaking about his first impression of Naveen Patnaik, Pandian said that he did not fit the stereotype of a political person.

“Whatever stereotype one has about a political leader, he was completely unlike. Very warm, very down to earth, very humble and had an eye for good work. He had come and he immediately appreciated me for 2-3 things. Which I thought was very nice of him to tell to such a junior officer,” Pandian said. (ANI)

India Rejects Allegations Of Indian Interference In Canadian Elections

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday rejected what it termed were the “baseless allegations” of Indian interference in Canadian elections, adding that it is Canada, who is interfering in our internal affairs.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal while addressing the weekly press briefing on Thursday said that they have seen the media reports of the Canadian Commission inquiring into foreign interferences.

“We strongly reject such baseless allegations of Indian interference in Canadian elections, it is not govt of India’s policy to interfere in the democratic process of other countries, in fact, quite on the reverse it is Canada, which has been interfering in our internal affairs,” he said.

Jaiswal further emphasised that India continues to call on Canada to take effective measures to address our core concerns.

“We have been raising this issue regularly with them, we continue to call on Canada to take effective measures to address our core concerns,” he stated.

As reported earlier, Canada’s federal commission of inquiry into foreign interference was looking to examine alleged meddling by India in the country’s last two general elections, Canada-based CTV News reported.

The commission, in a statement, said it has asked the federal government to produce documentation related to these allegations.

The statement signals the commission’s intention to probe any role India might have played in influencing the two ballots, as per CTV News.

The commission’s initial hearings will look at the challenges and limitations of disclosing classified national security information and intelligence to the public.

According to CTV News, an interim report from the commission is due on May 3, with a final report expected by the end of the year. (ANI)

Mallikarjun Kharge

Kharge Releases ‘Black Paper’ To Highlight BJP’s Failures

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge released the ‘Black Paper’ highlighting the alleged ‘failures’ during the 10-year rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre.

The Black Paper comes even as the central government is ready to present a ‘White Paper’, to show that the country had plunged into the “fragile five” economies of the world during the 10-year of the previous Congress-led UPA regime (2004-14).

While releasing the Black Paper, Kharge said that it contains details about the failures of the BJP government including unemployment.

“We are releasing a Black Paper against the government because the government always glorifies itself in Parliament and hides its failures. And when we say something about their failure, we are not given a chance, so today we are bringing out the Black Paper here. It contains details about unemployment, which the BJP government never discusses,” the Congress chief said in a press briefing.

Referring to PM Modi’s 90-minute reply to the Motion of Thanks on President’s Address in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Kharge said, “He (PM Modi) didn’t mention the employment generated by the public sectors like HAL, BHEL which were established during Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s tenure.”

Kharge alleged that the Centre is discriminating against all the non-BJP ruled states and neglecting them.

“There is a danger to democracy in the country…In last 10 years, 411 MLAs were taken on their by the BJP. They toppled so many Congress governments. They are finishing democracy,” the Congress president said, sharpening his attacks against the Centre further.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, while speaking to reporters ahead of the commencement of the seventh day of Parliament said that a discussion on the White Paper is scheduled to be held in Lok Sabha today.

“When our Finance Minister presented the Interim Budget, she mentioned the White Paper. It is necessary to inform about the kind of economic situation they (Congress) had left for the country in 2014,” Meghwal said.

The government had announced in the union budget presented on February 1 that it will come out with ‘White Paper’ to compare the economic performance of 10 years of the Congress-led UPA government with that of 10 years of the BJP-led NDA government.

Tabling the interim budget 2024-25 in Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Modi government, which assumed office in 2014, overcame crisis of those years and the economy has been put firmly on a high sustainable growth path,

“In 2014 when our Government assumed the reins, the responsibility to mend the economy step by step and to put the governance systems in order was enormous. The need of the hour was to give hope to the people, to attract investments, and to build support for the much-needed reforms. The government did that successfully following our strong belief of ‘nation-first’,” she said.

“The crisis of those years has been overcome, and the economy has been put firmly on a high sustainable growth path with all-round development.”

She announced that the Government will lay a White Paper on the table of the House “to look at where we were then till 2014 and where we are now, only for the purpose of drawing lessons from the mismanagement of those years”.

“The exemplary track record of governance, development and performance, effective delivery, and ‘Jan Kalyan’ has given the government trust, confidence and blessings of the people to realize, whatever it takes, the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ with good intentions, true dedication and hard work in the coming years and decades,” she said.

The budget session, which is the last Parliament session before Lok Sabha polls expected in April-May this year, was slated to conclude on February 10. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi OBC Modi

Modi Belongs To General Caste: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not belong to the Other Backward Caste (OBC) community as he was born in a general category.

Addressing a public rally during the Odisha leg of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra here, the Wayanad MP said, “Whenever BJP workers come to you, tell them one thing that our Prime Minister lied to the entire country that he belonged to the backward class. He was not born in a backward class, he belongs to the general caste. You tell this to every BJP worker.”

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently in Parliament called himself ‘sabse bada OBC’ (the biggest OBC) and accused the Congress of indulging in hypocrisy and adopting double standards while dealing with leaders of Backward communities.

“Congress party and UPA government did not deliver justice with OBCs. A few days ago, Karpoori Thakur ji was conferred with Bharat Ratna. In 1970, when he became Bihar CM, what was not done to destabilise his government? Congress can’t tolerate OBCs…They keep counting how many OBCs are there in government. Can’t you (Congress) see the biggest OBC here (pointing towards himself)?” PM Modi said in his reply to the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President’s Address in Lok Sabha on Monday.

PM Modi continued his attack on the UPA government and said that the previous government did not deliver justice to OBCs.

“During the UPA Government, an extra-constitutional body was formed. The government could not have its way before that body. National Advisory Council – did it have any OBC members? Find out,” he added.

The Odisha leg of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to be completed this afternoon before going on a two-day break from February 9-10. The yatra will resume on February 11 from Chhattisgarh.

Earlier on Wednesday, the 25th day of the Nyay Yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, visited Vedvyas Dham in the Sundergarh district of Western Odisha. The cave of this temple is considered to be the place where sage and poet Ved Vyas ji composed the Mahabharata.

Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra rolled out from Manipur’s Thoubal on January 14. The yatra will cover over 6,700 kilometres over 67 days, traversing through 110 districts. It will cover a distance of 6,713 km, straddling 100 Lok Sabha constituencies and 337 assembly segments and covering 110 districts.

The yatra will conclude in Mumbai on March 20, after 67 days.

A follow-up to the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ which saw Rahul Gandhi cover more than 3,000 kilometres on foot–from Kanya Kumari to Srinagar–the Yatra 2.0 is following a hybrid format. (ANI)
