Claiming that the situation in Sasaram was peaceful, Rohtas District Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar urged the general public not to believe in rumours.

As many as 1100-1200 security personnel have been deployed in the city. The public should not believe in rumours,” the DM said.

Mamata Is Sleeping…Jungleraj Has Returned: Anurag In WB, Bihar

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday hit out at the Bihar and West Bengal governments, over the communal clashes in the states during the Ram Navami festivities.

The Union Minister has spoken at the JITO Ahimsa Run at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, here in the national capital.
Attacking the Bihar government over violence, Thakur alleged that “Jungleraj” has returned in the state.

Talking to ANI, he said, “I would only say that the way the law and order situation in Bihar has worsened, and ‘Jungleraj’ has come. It is very unfortunate that the Jungleraj that was there during the Lalu regime, has returned again under Tejashwi Yadav and Nitish Kumar”.

He also said that the violence during Ram Navami festivities in West Bengal and other parts of the country is also very unfortunate.

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee government, Anurag Thakur said, “Mamata Didi is sleeping. She is providing security to one section. On the incidents of stone pelting, arson and violence during the ‘Shobha Yatra’ of the Hindu community, she kept on taking a selective stand. It is very unfortunate that Hindus are attacked under the protection of a Chief Minister, and she only plays the role of an audience”.

“What is the point of being a Chief Minister, that when you are elected, violence happens, and now again violence has taken place during the Ram Navami,” he added.

In West Bengal, two groups clashed in Howrah amid Ram Navami celebrations on March 30. Several vehicles were set on fire, and public and private properties were vandalised during the clashes.

The West Bengal police on Saturday said that a total of 38 people have been arrested, two cases have been registered and section 144 has been imposed in some areas.

In Bihar, clashes were reported on March 31, in Nalanda’s Biharsharif and Sasaram in Rohtas district where Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit.

It said that 27 persons have been arrested in Nalanda and 18 in Sasaram in connection with the incident after identifying anti-social elements, and prohibitory orders under Section 144 are in force in Nalanda. Urged Bihar Govt Not Broadcast Without Verification: Bihar Association Over Migrant Workers

Urged Bihar Govt Not Broadcast Without Verification: Bihar Association Over Migrant Workers

Dismissing outrightly the rumours of Bihar migrant labourers being thrashed in Tamil Nadu, the Secretary of Bihar Association in Tamil Nadu stated that the videos circulating on social media were fake and there was no truth in the allegations of attacks.

A 4-member team reached Chennai on Saturday and participated in a meeting with Chennai District Collector, Commissioner of Tamil Nadu Labour Department and other government officials in connection with the matter.
The Bihar government had sent the team to the Southern state after reports of alleged attacks on the migrant labourers surfaced.

“Four of us came from the Bihar government to meet the senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government. People from Bihar were working in Tamil Nadu. We have come to assure them that the Bihar government is for their welfare. We are getting all the support and cooperation from the Tamil Nadu government,” Balamurugan, IAS, Secretary of Rural Development Department, Bihar said.

Speaking to ANI, Mukesh, Secretary, Bihar Association, Tamil Nadu, said that they have not found any “reality” in the calls that they received of the alleged attacks in Tamil Nadu.

“A 4-member team had come from Bihar to gather information regarding the ongoing rumour that the people from Bihar and Hindi-speaking people are being beaten by the Tamils. The video has gone viral. The parents are scared. We gave the team information. I get 150-200 calls per day. We visit the spot after getting the call and assess the situation and try to ascertain the facts. We cannot inform the police immediately after receiving the call unless we check the reality behind the calls. We have visited around 10 to 15 places so far, there was no reality in the claims. It is completely fake news,” he said.

Stating that such incidents of attacks did not take place in the state, the official said that Tamil Nadu is the “safest place” for migrant workers.

He said that they have urged the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government to not let any such news be broadcast “until the authenticity” is ascertained.

“Such an issue has never occurred anywhere in Tamil Nadu. This is the safest place for migrant workers and for the people of Bihar. We only told the Bihar government that the fake news coming from Bihar should be stopped. We have not seen such news in any channel in Tamil Nadu. We have asked the Bihar government not to let such news be broadcast until the authenticity of the news is ascertained,” he said.

“I don’t think any other government would help the way this Tamil Nadu government is helping,” Mukesh added.

The four-member team includes D Balamurugan, Secretary, Rural Development, P Kanan, IPS (IG CID), Shree Alok, Special Secretary, Labour Department and an IPS officer will submit a report to the Bihar chief minister after their visit.

Meanwhile, amid pressure from the Opposition over alleged attacks in Tamil Nadu of migrant workers from Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that a four-member team will visit the southern State to take stock of the situation.

“As soon as I got to know through newspapers, I directed officials to look into the matter. They talked with the Tamil Nadu government and reported that a team should be sent from here,” Nitish Kumar said, adding that the four-member team will look into the matter in detail.

Kumar on Thursday, raised concerns after a purported video of “attacks” on Bihar-based migrant labourers, working in Tamil Nadu surfaced on social media.

Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendr Babu stated, “Somebody in Bihar posted false and mischievous videos saying that migrant workers are attacked in Tamil Nadu. Two videos are posted and both are false, these two incidents happened earlier in Tiruppur and Coimbatore. Both cases were not a clash between the people of Tamil Nadu and migrant workers. One was a clash between two groups of Bihar migrant workers and another video was a clash between two local residents of Coimbatore,” the top cop said.

The Tamil Nadu Police also warned that strict action would be initiated against those sharing fake videos on social media.

After the Tamil Nadu DGP’s clarification, the Bihar police on Friday said that the videos circulating on social media were “misleading”.

“Bihar DGP has spoken to Tamil Nadu DGP. Other senior officers of the Bihar Police are in touch with senior officials of the Tamil Nadu Police. The Tamil Nadu Police has said that the said videos are fake and misleading,” Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Patna, JS Gangwar told ANI.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday in a telephone call with Nitish Kumar reassured his Bihar counterpart about the safety of migrant workers, amid reports of alleged attacks on people from Bihar that officials have dismissed as fake.

Chief minister Stalin said that those indulging in rumour-mongering were acting against the country and its integrity, according to a statement released by the chief minister’s office.

“Tamil Nadu Government and the people will always stand to protect our migrant brothers,” Stalin told the Bihar chief minister, according to the statement.

“I have spoken to the honourable chief minister and my brother Nitish Kumar on phone and assured him that all the workers are our workers and they are helping the development of Tamil Nadu. Therefore, I assured that none of these issues will impact them” the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said.

District Collectors in Tamil Nadu have issued appeals in Hindi asking migrant workers not to be scared. (ANI)

The area of Bankebazar block of the Gaya district of Bihar once had a stronghold of Naxalites. Even today, there is an occasional Naxalite activity in this area. But in present times the women of this region have started writing their own destinies.

Earlier, where opium was cultivated on barren land, and now the lemongrass crop is flourishing with the help of the Sarv Seva Samiti organization.

With the help of the organization, women are being trained to cultivate lemongrass and sell its products. Women are also participating actively in this. The women who were earlier unemployed and whose economic condition was very bad, are now becoming strong by cultivating lemongrass and mushrooms and their financial condition is also improving.

Pratima Devi, a resident of Azamgarh village of Bankebazar block, told ANI, “Earlier we had no work and the condition of the house was also very bad. But we were given training in mushroom and lemongrass farming by the organization. A good income is being generated and the condition of the family is also improving. Many types of products are being made by cultivating lemon grass. Initially, only a few women were associated with it, but at present, about one thousand women have joined. Now we are getting good income. Earlier our area was known for Naxalism, there was no development, but now we are making many types of products and we are also getting good income by selling them in the market.”

Rajni Bhushan, the district manager of Sarv Seva Samiti, said that Bankebazar block is considered to be a very remote area. “It is about 70 kms away from district headquarters Gaya. Most of whose land is barren and the area is surrounded by mountains. After this, we contacted the agriculture department and started cultivating mushrooms and lemongrass on barren land. For this, we connected the women of the area. At present, more than 1,000 women are associated with this farming and they are earning well, she informed.

The land which used to be barren before is flourishing with the cultivation of lemongrass. Many products including oil, soap, sanitiser, and phenyl are being made from lemongrass, which is being sold. Women are getting an income of about 12 thousand rupees in 2 months. Once lemongrass is cultivated, the crop keeps flourishing for 5 years. If its products are sold in six months, there is an income of about 40 thousand rupees. It is our endeavour to involve more women in this work so that their economic condition improves and their standard of living rises.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is scheduled to visit the area and meet the women in the area under his ongoing “Samadhan yatra”. (ANI)
