Bihar: Question Paper Frames Kashmir, India As Two Separate Countries

A Class 7 exam question paper in a school in Bihar allegedly contained a question that distinguished Kashmir from India, sparking a new controversy.

The Education Department of the Bihar government has been conducting Mid-term examinations for the students of classes one to eight, which continued from October 12 till October 18.
It came to the fore when the students of class seven were asked in their English exam: “What are the people of the following countries called? One is done for you.”

The paper setter cited the example of China and asked “As the people of China are called Chinese, what are the people of Nepal, England, Kashmir, and India called?”

This question was allegedly asked these students in Araria, Kishanganj, and Katihar and further “highlighted the mindset” of the paper maker and setter.

“We got this via Bihar Education Board. The question had to ask what are people from Kashmir called? But, it mistakenly carried as what are people of the country of Kashmir called. This was human error,” Headteacher SK Das clarified.

However, District Education Officer Subhash Kumar Gupta refused to speak about the matter on camera.

Meanwhile, the educationists and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have alleged the matter is a conspiracy and have sought a probe by the Union Education Minister.

Bihar BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal took to his social media and shared the image of the question paper alongside captioning it as: “…Bihar government is still silent on my concern that they feel Kashmir as not a part of India. This question itself advocates that the officials in Bihar government consider Kashmir as a different country as Nepal, England, China, and India,” he wrote in a Facebook post in Hindi.

He further alleged that “Nitish Kumar is so restless with his desire to become the Prime Minister that they are inflicting anti-national question papers on the children of class 7.”

More details on this matter are awaited.

Notably, in 2017 as well, a similar question was asked in Bihar and a student in the Vaishali district pointed out the error. (ANI)

‘He Is Delusional…Kishor On Nitish’s Comment

Hitting back at Nitish Kumar, political strategist Prashant Kishor said on Sunday that the Bihar chief minister has become “delusional” and “politically isolated” and thus speaks things other than what he actually means.

He also said that Kumar’s age is affecting him and it reflects in his “nervousness”.
Kishor was reacting to the chief minister’s comment that the political strategist, who has recently launched a state-wide ‘padayatra’ to bring ‘Jan Suraj’ in Bihar, was “working for the BJP” after he claimed that Kumar had asked him to join his Janata Dal (United) party.

“He (Kumar) said I am working on BJP’s agenda and asked him to merge with Congress. How is it even possible? If I were supporting BJP, why would I ask him to strengthen Congress? If the second claim is correct, the first one gets wrong,” Kishor told ANI.

“He (Kumar) has been affected by his age and has turned delusional. He has been politically isolated as he is surrounded by people who he himself does not trust. And it is because of this nervousness he speaks other than what he means,” he added.

Of late, both Kishor and Kumar have shared allegations against each other.

On Saturday, the Bihar chief minister said Kishor, who has helped political parties win elections and influence people, is now making baseless claims. He added that a few years ago Kishor had advised him to merge his JD (U) with the Congress. On October 5, Kishor had said Kumar had invited him to his residence and offered him to join his party and lead it.

But Kishor has dropped enough hints that he aims to launch his own political party after the completion of his yatra. He has often said it was time for him “to go directly to the people.”

Kishor launched his ‘padayatra’ on October 2 from Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram. He has attacked all political parties that have ruled Bihar, saying the state has not changed since 1990. He said people here are bound to migrate to other states in search of employment.

Kishor has briefly served as the national president of the JD (U) but was later expelled from the party.

In an interview with ANI last month, the strategist had predicted that the current ruling alliance of seven parties (Mahagathbandhan) will not survive till the next assembly election.

In August, Nitish Kumar parted ways with the NDA and rejoined the RJD. (ANI)

Minor Killed By Two Men As Sacrifice To God: Delhi

In a shocking incident, a 6-year-old boy was allegedly killed by two men in South Delhi’s Lodhi Colony on Saturday night in what they claimed was a “sacrifice on the orders of God”.

According to Delhi Police, the incident took place on Saturday night at the construction site of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquarters in the posh Lodhi Colony area.
The Delhi Police got a PCR call in the early hours of Sunday at Lodhi Colony that the throat of a 6-year-old boy was slit by two men at an under-construction building. Police personnel rushed to the spot and arrested the two accused, who were already caught by other laborers and CRPF personnel on duty.

The victim was identified as the son of one of the laborers working at the site. They are natives of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly.

Police said both the accused, Vijay Kumar and Aman Kumar, are natives of Bihar and worked as cement cutters at the site.

According to Police, the accused were under the influence of drugs when they allegedly slit the child’s neck.

Police said the child was also known to the accused and there was no enmity with the family.

At around 10:30 pm on Saturday, the accused called the child when he was going to his shed. They took the boy to their cooking space and committed the act, said police. One of the accused told Delhi Police that he had a vision that “Bhole Baba wants them to slit the throat of a child.”

The investigation is underway. (ANI)
