Jharkhand's Jama MLA Sita Soren

Hemant Soren’s Sister-In-Law- Sita Soren Joins BJP

Jharkhand’s Jama MLA Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday.

After resigning from the membership of JMM, Sita Soren tendered her resignation from the membership of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. She was the general secretary of the JMM.

” Many circumstances arose in the party; in the end it was a matter of morality for me. So I tender my resignation as MLA” said Sita Soren in her letter to the Jharkhand Assembly speaker.

Sita Soren claimed that she had not been given her due by the JMM.

“I served the party for 14 years, but to date, I have not received the respect that I should have received in those 14 years, due to which I had to take this very big decision for respect of hard work made by my late husband Durgashwar ji…we have remained untouched till date, we have not received any respect from any kind of party, ” said Sita Soren.

“I had to take this decision today and the way we saw from Prime Minister Narendra Modi is touring entire India, India’s name is becoming popular in foreign countries also, so considering this, I have trust and faith in JP Nadda ji, Amit Shah ji, Devendra Fernand ji, I will get support from them and we have to save Jharkhand” she added.

Meanwhile, JMM Leader Manoj Pandey hopes that Sita Soren will retract her decision.

“It is very unfortunate. We consider her as an important member of the party…we hope she retracts. The kind of respect she has received from this party, I don’t think she will get anywhere else…if she comes under the influence of those people who oppose us then she is sabotaging herself,”said JMM Leader Manoj Pandey.

Speaking on Sita Soren joining BJP, JMM MP Mahua Maji said, “We are all shocked. We don’t have much knowledge about this that why did she do this but the party is going through a crisis right now. So, I think everyone should have had some patience. This is unfortunate for our party…Elections are around the corner. Our party is strong. People like this alliance, Hemant Soren worked with the guidance of Shibu Soren and Champai Soren is completing the incomplete work. People want JMM once again and the alliance government to continue.”

While the BJP has named candidates for 11 out of 14 seats in Jharkhand, INDIA bloc is yet to announce its candidates yet. The voting process in Jharkhand will unfold in four phases, from May 13 to June 1.

In the Lok Sabha election 2019, BJP won 11 seats with 51.9 per cent vote share, while Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and ASJU won one seat each.

The elections for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held from April 19 to June 1, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4. (ANI)

Absconding Soren Chairs Meet In Ranchi

Absconding Soren Chairs Meet In Ranchi

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a meeting with ministers of his ruling coalition on Tuesday amid allegations by the BJP that the JMM chief was “absconding” to avoid the Enforcement Directorate’s probe into an alleged land scam case.

The chief of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was seen coming out of his residence in Ranchi today ahead of the meeting.

The Chief Minister’s Office in Jharkhand released pictures of Soren’s meeting with alliance party leaders today.

On Monday, officials from the ED had visited Soren’s residence in Delhi to question him. The central agency seized two cars and Rs 36 lakh but did not find the JMM leader.

Following this, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey alleged that the Jharkhand CM was a “bhagoda” (on the run) and that there was a proposal to make Soren’s wife Chief Minister of the state.

In a post on social media platform X, Dubey said, “Hemant Soren ji has called his own, JMM, Congress and allied MLAs to reach Ranchi with their luggage and bags. According to the information, there is a proposal to make Kalpana Soren ji (Hemant Soren’s wife) Chief Minister.”

As per sources, the ED had issued a fresh summons to Soren, asking him to be available for questioning on January 29 or 31, or else the agency itself will go to him for questioning. This is the tenth summons issued to the Jharkhand Chief Minister, by the ED.

Soren, in a letter to the Enforcement Directorate, said he will record his statement before the agency officials at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 31 at his residence in Ranchi.

The Jharkhand chief minister alleged that questioning him at this time was more political and was meant to disrupt the functioning of his government.

Questioning by the ED at a time when the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly is scheduled (February 2- 29) “reeks of malice” and “reveals your political agenda to disrupt the functioning of the State Government and prevent an elected representative of the people from discharging his official duties,” the letter read.

Section 144 CrPc was imposed within a 100-metre radius of CM Soren’s residence, Raj Bhavan and ED office in Ranchi. (ANI)

Radhakrishnan on Jharkhand Democracy

Demography Of J’khand Should Not Change: Govnr Radhakrishnan

Expressing concerns over the intrusion of foreigners in Jharkhand, Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Monday said that he has taken up the issue with  Chief Minister Hemant Soren, adding that this “incursion is dangerous” as foreigners are marrying tribal women thereby “changing the demography” in the state.

“This is very dangerous because the intrusion of foreigners will change the entire lifestyle of the tribal people. Especially when they are coming and marrying tribal women is alarming…we have to be very cautious about that,” the Jharkhand Governor told ANI in an exclusive interview on the matter of intrusion of Bangladeshi people increasing in Jharkhand.
He further said that the issue has been taken with the CM as well as the Chief Secretary.

“I have taken up this issue with the CM as well as the Chief Secretary. The tribal tradition should not get changed and the demography of Jharkhand should not change by foreigners’ infiltration. We should be very careful about this…,” Radhakrishnan said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the disharmony between the Raj Bhavan and the state government, Governor said that the Raj Bhavan and state government are working together for the development of the people

“What is to be taken up by me I am always taking it to the Chief Minister and chief secretary. I am not ready to comment about the inner things. As long as possible we want the Raj Bhavan and state government to work together for the development of the people,” he added.

Governor Radhakrishnan also spoke on the accusations by the rulling alliance that bills are being returned by Raj Bhavan because they are not liking the developmental work.

“I have returned only one bill that is of the reservation. It is 77 per cent was being recommended, then I said you take the second opinion of the Attorney General that’s why I have returned the bill. The other one we are having some reservation about the private universities. I have rejected one private University’s approval. That’s all other than that no bill has been returned by me,” he added.

On his visits being termed as politically motivated and propogating BJP’s agenda, he said, “I haven’t seen such statements…see the Governor is a linking bridge between state and the centre unless. Governor visit the interior places to know what is the ground reality what suggestion will you make to the state and centre. So anybody can find fault in good work. But I am not worried as long as I am doing the good work.”

He also reacted over the issue of Manipur and said that no politics should be done out of this.

“We all know the history of Manipur there’s always a big fight between the two sections of people. This has not happened all of a sudden. That is the history of Manipur one single judgement has provoked the people and it is going alarming since. We should not make politics out of this. we all should work together so that Manipur return to normalcy at the earliest,” he added.

He further mentioned that the state government and Raj Bhavan should work together to bring back calm and peace in Manipur.

The violence in Manipur erupted after a rally by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3 in protest against the proposed inclusion of people belonging to the Meitei community in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs). (ANI)

Soren Dares ED

Come And Arrest Me: Soren Dares ED

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday challenged the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to arrest him instead of sending a summons to him for questioning.

Soren on Thursday was to appear before the ED in its regional office in Ranchi but he skipped his visit. Addressing the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) workers outside his official residence before leaving for Raipur to attend a tribal festival being organized by the Chhattisgarh government, Soren urged his party workers to be prepared for a long political fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“I have been summoned by ED today when I already have a program in Chhattisgarh today. If I have committed a crime that big, come and arrest me. Why the questioning?… Security near the ED office has increased. Why, are you scared of people of Jharkhand?” said Soren, amidst heavy sloganeering in support from his party workers.

Soren said the federal agency, as a part of a larger conspiracy to destabilize his government which got a historic mandate in 2019, is trying to intimidate them by showing muscle power.

“We have identified a few external gangs in the state who are not letting the state’s Adivasis stand on their feet. This state will have the rule of Jharkhand is and not external forces… BJP will be wiped out in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls,” Soren added.

Urging his workers to be ready for a political fight, Soren said they need to go back to villages and expose the “conspiracy of the BJP” to destabilize their government.

“We have not done anything yet. ‘Jab Jharkhandi apni cheezo pe utar aayega, toh wo din door nahi jahaan aap logon ko yahaan sar chhupaane ka mauka bhi nahi milega,” he said.

Soren also gave a call to the Adivasis of Gujarat to ensure that the BJP loses all tribal seats in the upcoming assembly elections.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was summoned by ED on Thursday for investigation over contravention of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and in a money laundering probe linked to an illegal mining case in the Sahebganj district. (ANI)

Hemant Soren

Soren Summoned In Illegal Mining Case On November 3

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, asking him to appear for questioning on November 3 in its ongoing probe into an illegal mining case, sources said on Wednesday.

Soren has been asked by the agency to appear before its Jharkhand’s Ranchi-based regional office by 11.30 am.
The ED’s move came almost a month after it seized a passbook and a cheque-book, including two signed cheques, of Soren from the home of his alleged close associate Pankaj Mishra, who enjoyed political clout being the representative of Soren and exercised considerable control over illegal mining businesses as well as inland ferry services in Sahebganj and its adjoining areas through his accomplices. Mishra is in judicial custody now for exercising control over the mining of stone chips and boulders as well as the installation and operations of several crushers set up across various mining sites in Jharkhand’s Sahebganj district.

The ED made the revelations after it filed a Prosecution Complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 before the special court at Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi against Pankaj Mishra, Bachhu Yadav, and Prem Prakash.

During the investigation, 47 searches were conducted by the ED throughout India on several dates resulting in the seizure of Cash amounting to Rs 5.34 crore, freezing of bank balances amounting to Rs 13.32 crore, freezing of an inland vessel MV Infralink -III, reg. No- WB 1809, 5 number of stone crushers, two Hyva trucks besides the seizure of incriminating documents along with two numbers of AK 47 Assault Rifles.

ED had arrested Pankaj Mishra on July 19, Bachhu Yadav on August 4, and Prem Prakash on August 25. All the accused persons arrested so far are presently in judicial custody.

ED initiated a money laundering investigation on the basis of the First Information Report registered by Barharwa Police Station, Sahebganj under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, against Pankaj Mishra and others.

Later on, several FIRs regarding illegal mining lodged under IPC, Explosive Substances Act, and Arms Act have also been taken into the ambit of scheduled offenses.

To date, the ED has identified Proceeds of Crime relating to illegal mining to the tune of more than Rs 1,000 crore in this case.

“PMLA Investigation revealed that Pankaj Mishra, who enjoys political clout, being the representative of the Chief Minister, MLA from Barhait, Sahebganj, Jharkhand controls the illegal mining businesses as well as inland ferry services in Sahebganj and its adjoining areas through his accomplices,” the ED had said earlier in a statement.

Proceeds of Crime amounting to Rs 42 crore approximately acquired by Pankaj Mishra have been identified till date, the ED has said. (ANI)
