Govt Won’t Interfere In Religious Affairs Of Sikhs: Anil Vij

Emphasizing on earliest elections of the Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government does not intend to do politics over the religious affairs of Sikhs.

During the discussion regarding the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara (Management) Amendment Bill, 2022 in the state Assembly, Vij said, “Our government does not want to interfere in the religious management of Sikhs. Our intention is not to do politics on the issue of Sikhs. But we want the election process to start at the earliest and the elected representatives should form their Adhoc Committee at the earliest. Among the elected representatives, only one person will be made patron.”
The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara (Management) Amendment Bill, 2022 was passed in the Winter session of the state legislative assembly.

The Haryana Home Minister said that on July 14, 2014, the Congress government had brought this act but it lacked various aspects including the matter of elections.

Vij said the BJP government appointed Justice HS Bhalla as Commissioner to take further action regarding the Gurudwara management committee elections.

“The Opposition is questioning the appointment of Justice Bhalla while he has been deputed to conduct the elections at the earliest,” he said.

He said that elections will be held and the opposition should trust the people.

Referring to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vij said, “The RSS teaches nationalism, love, and equality and we keep only active people in the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. I have full faith that the Sikh society will elect only those people who fulfill the conditions.”

The Minister said all the 41 members nominated by the government will elect their president, senior vice president, junior vice president, general secretary, joint secretary, and six executive board members of the committee.

“The first meeting shall be convened and presided over by an officer appointed by the government. After the formation of the new Executive Committee, the Ad-hoc Committee and the Executive Board will cease to exist. After the newly elected Haryana Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee assumes charge, the ad-hoc committee will hand over the charge to the newly elected committee. All the 41 members nominated by the government shall elect its President, senior vice president, junior vice president, general secretary, joint secretary, and six members who shall be the first members of the Executive Board of the Committee,” Vij said the Assembly.

The meeting will be organized and presided over by the officer appointed by the administration. After the formation of the new committee, the ad-hoc committee and the executive board will cease to exist. Provided that if the election under section 11 is not held within a period of 18 months, a new ad-hoc committee shall be nominated by the government for a period of 18 months or until the election is held, whichever is earlier, the minister said. Guv Arif Khan

Guv Arif Khan Acting As A Tool Of RSS, Misusing Office: Pinarayi

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was acting as a tool of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and is misusing his powers while attempting to disrupt the functioning of universities in the state.

“Governor is misusing the Chancellor post to exercise more powers than he holds. It is undemocratic and encroachment on the powers of the Vice Chancellors. The Governor’s post is not to move against the government but to uphold the Constitution’s dignity. He’s acting as a tool of RSS,” Vijayan said today.

Vijayan’s remarks come ahead of the deadline given by Governor Khan late on Sunday for vice-chancellors of all nine universities in the state to submit their resignations.

The Chief Minister further said that Governor or chancellor doesn’t have the right to remove vice-chancellors and there is no such option in the University Act.

“Supreme Court verdict against Technology University’s vice-chancellor is not applicable to all vice-chancellors. On the basis of that verdict, the Governor cannot demand other vice-chancellors on the basis of that act. Governor or Chancellor doesn’t have the right to remove vice-chancellors. There is no such option in the University act,” he said.

As per an order issued by the Kerala Governor- Vice-Chancellors of the University of Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Kannur University, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, University of Calicut and Thunachath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University have been asked to resign from their posts.

The Governor issued the order upholding the Supreme Court order which quashed the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.

According to the PRO, Kerala Raj Bhavan, letters have been sent directing the Vice Chancellors of 9 Universities to tender their resignation by 11:30 am on October 24. The letters have been emailed to the VCs and registrars of the varsities concerned, the PRO, Kerala Raj Bhavan said.

“Upholding the verdict of Hon’ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal Nos.7634-7635 of 2022(@ SLP(c)Nos.21108-21109 of 2021), Hon’ble Governor Shri Arif Mohammed Khan has directed Vice Chancellors of 9 varsities in Kerala to tender resignation,” Raj Bhawan said in a tweet quoting PRO of Kerala Raj Bhavan.

The Raj Bhavan said Khan also directed that the resignations reach him by 11.30 am on Monday.

This comes after the Supreme Court set aside the appointment of MS Rajasree as Vice-Chancellor of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

A bench of justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar allowed the appeal filed by Professor Sreejith P.S. challenging the Kerala High Court order dated August 2, 2021.

The court noted that even as per Section 13(4) of the University Act, 2015, the Committee shall recommend unanimously a panel of not less than three suitable persons from amongst the eminent persons in the field of engineering sciences, which shall be placed before the Visitor/Chancellor.

As per the UGC Regulations also, the Visitor/Chancellor shall appoint the Vice Chancellor out of the panel of names recommended by the Search Committee. Therefore, when only one name was recommended and the panel of names was not recommended, the Chancellor had no option to consider the names of the other candidates, the top court observed.

At a recent event, Governor Khan while pointing out the issue of the VC appointment to various universities in Kerala said the Supreme Court itself had earlier made it clear that the appointment of the vice-chancellors was the responsibility of the Governor.

“Supreme Court has made it clear appointment of Vice Chancellor is the only responsibility of the Chancellor. The state government has no role in it,” he said. (ANI)

RSS Leader in Nizamuddin Dargah

RSS Leader Indresh Visits Nizamuddin Dargah, Recalls Brotherhood

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) National Executive member and Muslim Rashtriya Manch patron Indresh Kumar on Saturday paid a visit to Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, New Delhi, and lights earthen lamps inside the premises of the shrine, ahead of Diwali.

The RSS’ Muslim wing, Muslim Rashtriya Manch called for peace and prosperity in the country.
The move of Muslim Rashtriya Manch patron and senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar lighting ‘earthen lamps’ inside the Nizamuddin Dargah complex, marks a message of peace, prosperity, and communal harmony.

RSS leader Indresh Kumar reached Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah in Delhi yesterday. He also offered flowers and chadar at the dargah of Sufi saints.

“The festival of Diwali is celebrated in the world including India. It brings happiness and prosperity to every household. This festival erases all the religious differences and the differences between the provinces. India is a land of pilgrimages, festivals, and fairs. All of them give bread to the poor and increase brotherhood among themselves. He said that every festival teaches us that we do not want bigotry, malice, hatred, riots, or war. We want peace, harmony, and brotherhood,” Indresh Kumar said.

“No one should be forced to convert and do violence. Everyone should follow their own religion and caste. Do not criticize and insult other’s religions. When all religions are respected in the country, then the country will be free from the fundamentalists who make stone pelting on Friday. India is the only country that respects and accepts all religions,” he added.

Earlier, in September Indresh Kumar accompanied RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat to meet the Chief Imam of All India Imam Organisation Dr. Umer Ahmed Ilyasi. RSS chief also visited a Masjid and Madarsa in the national capital earlier that day. (ANI)

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge

All Cong Leaders United To Fight Against BJP, RSS: Kharge

Congress leader and MP Mallikarjun Kharge, one of the candidates in the party’s presidential election, on Sunday made it clear that the G23 camp no longer exists and all leaders are united to fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Asserting that he has not entered the polls to oppose anyone, Kharge announced his “official start” to the election campaign on Sunday.
“There is no G23 camp now. All leaders (of G23) want to work together to stay united and fight against BJP-RSS. This is the reason they are supporting me,” said Kharge.

He further said that he is contesting for the Congress president post because senior leaders of the party encouraged him to contest.

“Many senior leaders of the party have supported my nomination for Congress president post. Many leaders of the party told me that I should contest the elections. Due to their encouragement, I am contesting the elections today,” said Congress MP.

Kharge, who entered the fray in the eleventh hour, was seen flanked by Manish Tewari, Anand Sharma, Prithviraj Chavan, and Bhupinder Hooda when he submitted the form for the presidential race.

G-23 leaders had written to Sonia Gandhi in August 2020 seeking structural changes in the party and even questioned the process of electing 9000-odd delegates who make up the electoral college of the Congress president.

Notably, the 80-year-old leader had received support from nearly 30 Congress leaders, including Deepender Hooda, Salman Khurshid, Ashok Gehlot, Digvijaya Singh, Manish Tewari, Prithviraj Chavan, and several others.

“The day I filed my nomination, I submitted my resignation from my post, aligning with the ‘One Person, One Post’ decision of the party taken in Udaipur. “I officially begin my campaign for the post of Congress party president today,” Kharge said while addressing a press conference with other three Congress leaders, Gourav Vallabh, Deepender S. Hooda, and Syed Naseer Hussain, here.

Kharge tendered his resignation as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha on Saturday as he filed nomination papers to contest the post of president of his party a day before.

Apart from Kharge, G23 leader Shashi Tharoor has also filed his nomination for the post.

Gourav Vallabh also announced his resignation from the post of the official spokesperson of the party to campaign for Kharge in Congress’ internal elections.

“All three of us (Congress leaders Gourav Vallabh, Deepender S Hooda, and Syed Naseer Hussain) resigned from the post of official spokespersons to campaign for the election of Mallikarjun Kharge as party president and want this election to be free and fair,” Vallabh said.

Congress Central Election Authority chairman Madhusudan Mistry said that a total of 20 nomination forms were received on Friday and added that the Gandhi family is not supporting any candidate for the party president’s post.

Mistry added that 14 nominations were received from Mallikarjun Kharge, five from Shashi Tharoor, and one from Jharkhand Congress leader KN Tripathi.

However, Tripathi’s nomination for the Congress presidential election was rejected on Saturday due to signature issues.

He further said that the two current contenders for the post of Congress President include Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor.

Mistry said that the candidates were in the fray of their own volition and Gandhis are neutral in this contest and are not supporting anyone.

Tharoor on Saturday drew an analogy between the Gandhi family and the DNA of the party and said that no party chief can distance himself from the Gandhi family, asserting that he is contesting the party’s presidential elections to bring a ” change” in the grand old party.

He stressed that the contest between him and Kharge is “not a battle” and it should be left upon the Congress workers to choose between the duo.

Tharoor and Kharge are up against each other in the race for the post of Congress president.

Digvijaya Singh pulled out from the race on Friday (the last day to file nominations) and extended his support to Kharge, who he said is a senior and respected leader of the party, and against whom he “cannot think of contesting”.

Singh was the second Congress leader to pull out of the race after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced he would not contest the elections following the political turmoil in his state.

With the Gandhis not running for the top post, the grand old party is all set to get a non-Gandhi president after over 25 years.

The results of the party polls will be declared on October 19. (ANI)

Petrol Bombs

Petrol Bombs Thrown At House Of RSS Member In TN

As many as three petrol bombs were hurled into the house of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu.

The incident was captured in the CCTV footage which as per the timestamp took place around 7:38 pm on Saturday at Mel Anuppanadi housing board area in Madurai at the residence of MS Krishnan.
The CCTV footage shows bike-borne men were seen approaching the house and hurling petrol bombs before the duo sped away.

Police are probing the incident.

“Three petrol bombs were thrown at RSS member house and we are investigating in this regard. No one was injured and damaged in the accident,” Shanmugam Madurai South’s Assistant Commissioner told ANI.

In this regard, RSS member Krishnan and BJP Madurai district president Suseendran filed a petition to the Keerathurai police.

After receiving his petitions, the police assured to arrest the accused soon.

“I have been working in an RSS organization for the last 45 years. Around 7 pm we did puja at my house with about 65 people. Then I heard a noise outside and when I came out, my car was on fire. Last year in 2014 police gave protection to me due to danger to my life but the police protection was withdrawn in 2021. More than 20 RSS workers like me have been attacked in Tamil Nadu alone. We have lodged a complaint with the police regarding the petrol bomb hurled at my house. They assured to arrest the accused by tonight,” said Krishnan.

BJP’s Suseendran said that the idea of PFI is to establish an Islamic state in India adding that they are doing a planned action to disrupt the Hindu nation and disrupt the traditional culture of the democratic country.

“In the last two days more than 20 people’s houses have been attacked, DMK Congress and its allied parties have not expressed any condemnation against this incident. But they only need Hindu votes. They (DMK and alliance party’) did not come forward to voice the atrocities against Hindus. Soon there will be a change of government in Tamil Nadu. If the police delay in arresting the accused, the protest will continue till the arrest of the accused,” said Suseendran.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP has written to Home Minister Amit shah highlighting the increasing attacks against BJP and RSS functionaries in recent times.

The letter to Amit shah mentioned 19 attacks against those belonging to Hindu outfits (the incident include the damaging of houses, vehicles, hurling of petrol bombs etc.).

Earlier, a petrol bomb was hurled at the house of an RSS leader near Tambaram near Chennai in the early hours of Saturday, said the police.

No person was injured or no major property damage took place.

“Petrol bomb hurled on RSS functionary Seetharaman’s residence at Chitlapakkam in Tambaram near Chennai. Efforts are underway to nab two unidentified people who threw petrol bomb,” according to the Tamil Nadu police.

The occupant, Seetharaman (62), a district coordinator of RSS was inside the house with his family. Family members rushed out after hearing a loud noise.

“At around 4 am, we heard a loud sound and saw fire outside. We thought it to be a short circuit but it wasn’t the case. We doused the fire and called police officials. They got the footage of the accused,” Seetharaman told ANI.

After being informed about the incident, Chitlapakkam police officers came to the spot and examined the CCTV footage of the area. The footage revealed that suspects on a two-wheeler stopped in front of Sitharaman’s house, ignited the bottle filled with petrol and threw it inside the house.

Another bottle bomb was hurdled at BJP worker Sarath’s residence in Kuniyamuthur city in Tamil Nadu on Friday night in which a car parked in the premises was damaged. Earlier on Thursday, a bottle filled with inflammable substance was hurled at the BJP office.

Following this, BJP workers protested in the area demanding action against the culprits. According to BJP, this is a kind of “terror attack”.

“Petrol bomb thrown at our office, this is how terror attacks come, today raids (against PFI) took place at several places, it is the anniversary of Hindu Munnani leader and BJP National president too is in the state,” Nandkumar, BJP worker said on Thursday.

The incident came hours after National Investigation Agency, Enforcement Directorate and the state police forces jointly carried out coordinated searches at the houses and offices of the top Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders and members across India on Thursday, including Tamil Nadu.

Searches were conducted at 93 locations in 15 states of India on Thursday. The states where the raids were conducted included Andhra Pradesh (4), Telangana (1), Delhi (19), Kerala (11), Karnataka (8), Tamil Nadu (3), Uttar Pradesh (1), Rajasthan (2), Hyderabad (5), Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar and Manipur.

A total of 106 Popular Front of India (PFI) cadres were arrested yesterday in a joint operation conducted by the National Investigation Agency, Enforcement Directorate and state police forces across 15 states in the country’s multiple locations, according to the sources.

The searches were conducted in connection with five cases registered by the NIA following “continued inputs and evidence” that the PFI leaders and cadres were involved in the funding of terrorism and terrorist activities, organising training camps for providing armed training and radicalising people to join banned organisations.

A large number of criminal cases have been registered in different states over the last few years against the PFI and its leaders and members for their involvement in many violent acts.

Earlier on Thursday, the PFI and SDPI workers staged a protest in Karnataka’s Mangaluru against the raids, following which they were detained by the state police.

PFI workers sat on the road in protest against the NIA raid at the party office in Chennai.

The PFI was launched in Kerala in 2006. (ANI)
