Physiotherapists Emerge As Symbol Of Hope, Recovery: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that during times of disasters, physiotherapists can play a pivotal role in the rehabilitation of the injured.

In his virtual address to the Indian Association of Physiotherapist National Conference in Ahmedabad today, the prime minister emphasized on making the facility of tele-medicine widely available so that people who are affected in disasters are able to get help quickly.
Highlighting the role of physiotherapists in strengthening India’s healthcare system, Prime Minister Modi said physiotherapists emerge as a symbol of hope, resilience and recovery for people.

Physiotherapists can play a pivotal role in the recovery of injured after massive disasters, PM Modi said

Referring to earthquake-hit Turkey and Syria, Prime Minister said, “All of you should also develop methods of consulting through video. Just like in Turkey which has been hit by a large earthquake, a large number of physiotherapists are needed after such a disaster. In such a situation, you can help a lot through mobiles,”

On the occasion of the World Physiotherapist Day, Prime Minister also lauded the efforts of all physiotherapists who play a key role in safeguarding the health of people.

The prime minister said that his government will continue its efforts to popularise and further modernise physiotherapy.

Addressing the event, PM Modi said, “Earlier, there used to be family doctors, now there are family physiotherapists also. I urge you all to educate people about the right exercise, the right posture and the right habits for keeping themselves fit. Physiotherapists emerge as a symbol of hope, resilience and recovery for people. physiotherapists.”

With the rising number of elderly in the country, their healthcare has become more challenging, the PM said. In today’s time, he said the academic papers and presentations associated with physiotherapists will prove useful to the whole world. This will help display the skills of Indian physiotherapists to the world, the Prime Minister stressed.

He said, “The best physiotherapist is the one who is not needed by the patient again and again. Your goal is to make people self-reliant. Today, when the country is moving towards self-reliance, you can understand why this is necessary.”

The PM said if physiotherapy combines with Yoga then the efficiency of a person increases manifold.

“It is my experience that if a physiotherapist also knows Yoga his power becomes manifold. If you know Yoga along with physiotherapy, then your efficiency will increase a lot,” he said.

He said like physiotherapy, consistency and conviction are essential for the development of the country.

Along with Khelo India Movement, PM said the Fit India movement has also progressed in India. He said it is necessary to adopt the right approach toward fitness. “You can do it through articles and lectures; and my youth friends can also do it through ‘reels’,” PM said. (ANI)

LIC and Gautam Adani

‘Investors Faith in LIC is Rock Solid; Adani’s Fall is Short-Lived’

Gajendra Singh, an LIC agent based in Lucknow, says the rumours over the financial investor losing money due to its exposure in Adani stocks are mere propaganda. Read his views:

Thanks to easy and quick information available on the Internet and social media, most investors are nowadays well informed about their finances. The recent downslide in the stock prices of Gautam Adani group led to fear-mongering that LIC had suffered losses in the free-fall. Thankfully, there was also reliable information accessible to ward off this misinformation campaign and LIC too cleared the air in good time about the episode.

Now, our customers even know the exact figure (₹36,474 crore) invested by the LIC in the Adani group and also the fact that this figure is less than one per cent of LIC’s total stake in the market. Interestingly, one of my customers also informed me that as on January 27, 2023, the exact market value of the Adani shares and claimed that it was set to rise in near future when the commotion is over.

I have had a long association with LIC and I can assure you that it is an ethical financial institution with a vast business and its performance or profits carry minimum risk in any kind of similar situation. Even a much bigger or wider bloodbath in stock markets cannot shake its strong fundamentals.

If things were the same what is being projected, many private organisations with more lucrative offers could have weaned away LIC customers to their kitty. But the faith of people (in LIC) is absolutely unaffected; not a single of my customers contacted me to clear any doubts about the group, regarding the Adani saga. I have sold many policies even after the Adani issue came to the fore and my `business’ or the flow of my customers has remained the same.

ALSO READ: ‘Adani Saga Gets Murkier And Murkier’

LIC itself has clarified that its investment in Adani Group companies has been a long term deal. The debt securities held by LIC (of Adani Group) have a credit rating of AA or above and the investments have been made as per the norms prescribed by IRDA (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority). LIC very well takes care of the guidelines and regulations set for investment and invests in any company for a long period of time and only after rigorous due diligence.

My personal opinion is that this misinformation was deliberately spread out for political gains as Lok Sabha elections are scheduled for next year and the Adani group is seen to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So it is possibly an act to sabotage the BJP electoral prospects, and such allegations are not uncommon in political world.

LIC is not only India’s largest insurance company, but it is also the largest institutional investor in the Indian stock market. It is a much bigger investor than even the largest FPI (foreign portfolio investment) and it is important to understand that the group invests in diverse investment instruments. Thus, people (investors) should not give heed to any such propaganda or panic. Instead, they should scan related information from reliable news networks or professionals.

AAP Legislators Bhardwaj, Atishi Likely To Be Elevated As Ministers

AAP Condemns Delhi LG’s Order For Removal Of Party’s ‘Govt Nominees’ From DISCOMS

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday attacked the Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over the order of removal of its two ‘government nominees’ from the board of private DISCOMS, and called it “unconstitutional” and “illegal”.

AAP slammed the Delhi LG saying that he has made a “complete mockery” of all Supreme Court orders and the Constitution.
“LG’s orders removing Jasmine Shah and Naveen Gupta from the Board of DISCOMs is illegal and unconstitutional. LG does not have the power to issue such orders. Only the elected government has the power to issue orders on the subject of electricity. LG has made a complete mockery of all SC orders and the Constitution. He is openly going around saying that SC orders are not binding on him,” the AAP statement read.

Earlier in the day, Delhi LG VK Saxena ordered the immediate removal of AAP spokesperson Jasmine Shah and AAP MP ND Gupta’s son, Naveen ND Gupta from the position of ‘government nominees’ on the Board of Private DISCOMS.

The LG Office informed in a statement that they have been removed for allegedly “illegally” occupying the positions, and they have been replaced by senior government officers.

“Delhi LG, VK Saxena had ordered for the immediate removal of AAP Spokesperson, Jasmine Shah, Son of AAP MP, ND Gupta- Navin Gupta and other private individuals, who had been illegally appointed as government Nominees on the boards of privately owned DISCOMs- BYPL, BRPL (Anil Ambani) and NDPDCL (Tata),” the statement from the LG Office read.

As per the release, the two had “collaborated” with private representatives on boards of Anil Ambani-owned DISCOMS and “benefitted” them to the tune of Rs 8000 Cr at the cost of the public exchequer.

The Finance Secretary, Power Secretary and MD, of Delhi Transco, will now represent the government on these Ambani and Tata-owned DISCOMS, as per regular practice, followed since Sheila Dikshit’s time as CM, when these DISCOMS came into existence, the release stated.

“Invoking “difference of opinion” under Article 239AA of the Constitution of India, after the Arvind Kejriwal government persisted in their continuance on these boards, despite proven misconduct and maleficence on their part, by way of benefiting the Ambani-owned DISCOMS to the tune of more than 8000 crores, at the cost of government exchequer, Saxena had referred the matter to the President of India for a decision. He had asked for the removal of the above-mentioned political appointees on the DISCOM boards with immediate effect, pending the President’s decision, and asked for senior government officials to replace them on the boards of the DICOMS,” the LG Office statement read.

Senior government officials like the Finance Secretary, Power Secretary and representatives of Government-owned GENCOS and TRANSCO, had been the norm till Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP Government nominated party functionaries as ‘Government Nominees’ on the DISCOM boards.

The statement informed that the Delhi government which owns 49 per cent of the stake in the private DISCOMS used to nominate senior government officials so that the interests of the government and people of Delhi could be taken care of, in decisions taken by the DISCOM boards.

“However, these AAP nominees on the DISCOMS, in a quid pro quo arrangement involving commissions and kickbacks, instead of acting vigilant in the interest of the people and government of Delhi, acted in cahoots with the BRPL and BYPL boards facilitated a decision by their boards to decrease the LPSC rates from 18 per cent to 12 per cent, and in the process unduly benefitted them to the tune of Rs 8468 crores- an amount that would have gone to the Delhi Government exchequer. All That UP Lacked Before Is Now Available: Shah At Global Investors Summit

All That UP Lacked Before Is Now Available: Shah At Global Investors Summit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday hailed the ‘favourable atmosphere’ in Uttar Pradesh for industries, saying that the state fulfils all the criteria to required to draw investments.

Addressing the three-day UP Global Investors’ Summit, which kicked off at Lucknow on Friday, Shah said that there was a time when the state lacked law-and-order and was synonymous with violence due to a lack of prompt decision-making by the previous governments. However, things changed for the better in the current Yogi Adityanath government, which has excelled in creating a congenial ambience for investment.
“For drawing investment to any state, there is a need to meet five requirements. First, the law and order situation should be good. Second, the state’s infrastructure should be robust. Third, the state government should frame policies that have clarity, especially with regard to industry and finance. Fourth, the state government should be run in a transparent manner. And finally, the state Cabinet should possess quick decision-making ability. There was a time when one would be disappointed looking at the state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh. However, all that the state lacked previously are now available on the ground today,” the Home minister said.

Shah said the Uttar Pradesh government has framed various policies to attract industries. “Law and order has improved by leaps and bounds. Uttar Pradesh is one of the few states to have drawn bulk investments in infrastructure. Various policies have been formulated in favour of industries and there is no lack of clarity anymore on the government’s intent,” Shah said.

“There is not even a single allegation against the Yogi government. There is a favourable ambience for industries and investment in Uttar Pradesh,” the Union Home minister added.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 in Lucknow.

Highlighting the country’s development strides and investment-friendly environment and, also pointing out that Uttar Pradesh was driving the country’s growth, PM Modi said that India was reforming not out of compulsion but out of conviction.

If India is the bright spot in the world, then Uttar Pradesh is its growth engine, he said.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “Uttar Pradesh’s growth has been noteworthy. People used to say that it was hard to develop UP and the law-and-order situation in the state can never improve. UP was known for scams and no one had any hopes on the state’s revival and reform. But, in just five to six years, UP has created a new identity for itself. Today, Uttar Pradesh is known for good governance, peace, law-and-order, and stability.”

PM Modi said a big change is being seen in the thinking and aspirations of society and the country’s youth today. The aspirations of youth are behind the country’s push for development, he added.

“Today every credible voice in the world believes that India’s economy will continue to grow rapidly. The biggest reason behind this is the increasing self-confidence of Indians,” PM Modi said.

He added that UP has also reaped great benefits from the work that the government has done on social, digital and infrastructure fronts. He said the Centre has abolished dozens of archaic laws and today India is witnessing development at speed and on a large scale.

“Today, India is reforming, not out of compulsion but conviction. More than 40,000 compliances have been removed and many laws have been abolished,” PM Modi said. (ANI)

Wash Your Faces With Dettol: Sitharaman Counters Cong

Wash Your Faces With Dettol: Sitharaman Counters Cong

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said the Congress leaders should ‘wash’ their faces with ‘Dettol’ before they talk about corruption.

She made the scathing remark in the Lok Sabha after Congress members levelled corruption allegations against the Narendra Modi government.
“Before you speak of corruption, wash your faces with Dettol. Look who’s talking about corruption?” Sitharaman retorted to Congress’ allegations of graft.

Addressing the Lower House, the Union Finance minister also hit out at states which did not reduce VAT on feul even after the Centre decreased it twice in the last couple of years.

She asked Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi to ask his party, which is in power in Himachal Pradesh, why it hiked VAT on diesel after winning the Assembly elections.

“When the import price increased, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reduced the excise duty on petroluem products twice — in November 2021 and June 2022 — so as to reduce the price burden on the public. While we reduced the duty on fuel, there were states which did just the opposite. I want to name them. Gogoi-ji should ask the (Congress-ruled) Himachal government why they increased the VAT on diesel by Rs 3 after winning the (Assembly) elections,” Sitharaman said.

The Opposition MPs protested against the remark, to which the Finance Minister said it was in the Congress’ DNA to level allegations and create a ruckus when the government responds to them.

“You are the one who increased VAT (on fuel). Think before you speak. It is in the Congress’ culture to level allegations and create a ruckus and stage a walkout when we repond to them. This is their way,” she said.

Naming the Opposition-ruled states that increased VAT on fuel, Sitharaman said, “Punjab increased VAT on petrol and diesel this month. Kerala government, too announced a social security cess of Rs 2 per litre of petrol and diesel this month,” she said.

Sitharaman took a jibe at Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who mistakenly read from last year’s Budget in the state Assembly on Friday, saying “there is some problem in Rajasthan”.

“They read last year’s Budget this year. While I concede that anybody can make mistakes, I pray to God that no one lands in a situation where he ends up reading last year’s Budget this year. But it happened today,” she said. (ANI)

AI Is Here: Fasten Your Seatbelts For The Ride

Are you ready to step into a world where artificial intelligence (AI) breathes life into our boldest visions, revolutionizing the way we live, work, and connect? As AI continues to evolve, we find ourselves on the brink of a transformative era, where machine intelligence intertwines with human ingenuity to propel us forward. From enhancing healthcare and reshaping transportation to unleashing creativity and amplifying productivity, the future with AI promises unparalleled possibilities. In this piece we explore the infinite potential of AI, where innovation knows no bounds, and together we shape a future that once seemed unimaginable.

Every time a new technology is introduced, it disrupts the status quo. There is some something catastrophic too, like jobs destruction in the AI case. Then, it goes through a familiar arc: the economy grows and more jobs are generated, society adopts new ways and betterment follows on. This is a repetitive pattern true of every new technology.

Technology always brings a plethora of adaptive measures with it. AI for instance has the potential to transform various professions across different industries and significantly impact the way we live and work. Here are some examples of how AI can shape the future of professions and the new world it may create:

Efficiency and Automation: AI can automate tedious and repetitive processes, freeing experts to concentrate on more difficult and imaginative areas of their work. In industries like manufacturing, logistics, customer service, and data analysis, this might result in an increase in productivity and efficiency.

Healthcare and Medicine: AI can revolutionize healthcare by enabling faster and more accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment plans, and drug discovery. AI-powered systems can analyze vast amounts of medical data, assist in surgery, and provide remote healthcare services, improving patient outcomes and access to healthcare. For example, Google’s AI system,

Education and Training: AI can enhance education by providing personalized learning experiences tailored to individual student needs.

Intelligent tutoring systems, virtual reality simulations, and adaptive learning platforms can help students learn at their own pace and style, leading to improved educational outcomes. For example, Carnegie Learning has developed an AI-powered math tutor that adapts to each student’s learning style and provides real-time feedback.

Finance and Banking: AI can improve financial services through fraud detection, risk assessment, algorithmic trading, and customer service chatbots. It can analyze financial data in real-time, identify patterns, and make predictions, aiding in making informed decisions and managing risks. For example, the Japanese bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, uses AI software to quickly read and analyze borrower data, expediting the loan approval process.

Transportation and Logistics: AI can optimize transportation routes, manage traffic, and enhance the safety and efficiency of autonomous vehicles.

Supply chain management can also benefit from AI-powered systems that improve inventory management and reduce costs. For example, self-driving cars from Tesla and Google use AI-powered sensors to detect obstacles, read road signs, follow traffic laws, and learn from other cars’ behavior.

Another major impact that AI can bring into our life is by combatting global warming and addressing environmental issues, one of the biggest existential matters on global level. Here are a few ways AI can contribute:

Energy Optimization: AI can optimize energy consumption by analyzing patterns and data from various sources. It can help identify areas of inefficiency and suggest ways to reduce energy usage, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
