Musk Marks TikTok As Extremely Destructive

Billionaire Elon Musk has expressed his concern over the ill effects of the social media platform ‘TikTok’ on certain age groups.

Musk took to his Twitter handle on Sunday to share a finding which mentions about ill-effects of the video-making platform ‘TikTok‘.
Elon dropped a picture featuring a research synopsis about the researchers who created accounts of fictitious 13-year-old users and later their feeds got flooded with clips about eating disorders, body image, self-harm and suicide. Musk captioned it as, “Extremely destructive if accurate.”

Earlier on Friday billionaire announced Linda Yaccarino as the new Twitter CEO after thinking about stepping down as a CEO of Twitter within six weeks.

Musk who bought Twitter for USD 44 billion last year will continue to retain a firm grip on the company and will focus on product design and new technology.

Linda will primarily focus on business operations.

As Twitter’s owner, he has put his stamp on it by eliminating more than 75 per cent of its 7,500 employees, installing his own leaders and changing the service’s features and strategy. He also took Twitter private, which means he does not have to disclose corporate information to the public.

The outgoing CEO recently announced adding another update to Twitter allowing its verified users to have early access to encrypted messaging service.

The update is currently available only for verified users.

Back in December, Musk said he would step aside as Twitter’s CEO once he found “someone foolish enough” to take over the role. Musk recently officially renamed the company “X Corp.” as the parent of Twitter, reported Variety. (ANI)

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Long-Anticipated Ukraine Counter-offensive Soon: Zelenskyy

The first important steps of a highly-anticipated military counteroffensive against Russian forces would be taken soon, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as he met with European partners providing his country with weapons, CNN reported.

Talking with reporters in Rome after meetings with his Italian counterpart and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian forces were “preparing very seriously.”
“There will definitely be very serious steps. I cannot tell you (when) but you will definitely see it and Russia will definitely feel it,” he said, adding, “We believe in victory and believe that the first important steps will be taken soon.”

Last week, senior US and Western military officials told CNN that Ukrainian forces had started “shaping” operations ahead of the counteroffensive.

In order to prepare the battlefield for advancing forces, shaping involves attacking targets such as weapons depots, command posts, and armour and artillery systems. It’s a standard tactic performed before significant joint operations, CNN reported.

After a “long and fruitful” discussion with Zelenskyy on Saturday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni promised constant support for Ukraine and added that Rome would back any future application by Kyiv to join NATO.

“We are ready to support a further intensification of Ukraine’s partnership with NATO, we will discuss it in Vilnius at the July summit, it will probably be the central theme,” Meloni added.

Earlier, Zelenskyy also met Pope Francis, who has been open in his support for putting an end to the violence in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy and Francis discussed the humanitarian and political crisis in Ukraine during their meeting at the Vatican on Saturday, and the Pope offered his “constant prayer,” according to a statement from the Vatican press office, reported CNN.

According to the statement, “Both agreed on the need to continue humanitarian efforts to support the population.”

Zelenskyy said last week that his nation still requires “a bit more time” before launching the counteroffensive in order to let some additional delivery of the promised Western military supplies, as per CNN.

Among those Western supporters is Germany, where Zelenskyy landed on Sunday, his first trip there since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine started in February, CNN reported.

“Already in Berlin. Weapons. Powerful package. Air defence. Reconstruction. EU. NATO. Security,” Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday, the German Defence Ministry announced that it would give Ukraine an additional USD 3 billion in military aid, including 30 tanks.

This came after a significant policy reversal by Berlin earlier this year, when it said it would give Kyiv Leopard 2 assault tanks. Due to Berlin’s long-standing policy of not delivering lethal weapons to conflict areas, Germany originally resisted requests to arm Ukraine, CNN reported. (ANI)

Research Allows More Insight Into Post-Vaccine Heart Inflammation Cases

When the new Covid-19 vaccinations were introduced two years ago, public health experts discovered an increase in incidences of myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, particularly among young guys who had received mRNA immunisations. However, it remained unclear what exactly was producing this response.

In a new study, Yale scientists have identified the immune signature of these heart inflammation cases.
These findings, published in the journal Science Immunology, rule out some of the theorised causes of heart inflammation and suggest potential ways to further reduce the incidence of a still rare side effect of vaccination, the authors say.

Myocarditis is a generally mild inflammation of heart tissue which can cause scarring but is usually resolved within days. The increased incidence of myocarditis during vaccination was seen primarily in males in their teens or early 20s, who had been vaccinated with mRNA vaccines, which are designed to elicit immune responses specifically to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), among males aged 12 to 17, about 22 to 36 per 100,000 experienced myocarditis within 21 days after receiving a second vaccine dose. Among unvaccinated males in this age group, the incidence of myocarditis was 50.1 to 64.9 cases per 100,000 after infection with the Covid-19 virus.

Among unvaccinated males in this age group, the incidence of myocarditis was 50.1 to 64.9 cases per 100,000 after infection with the Covid-19 virus.

For the new study, the Yale research team conducted a detailed analysis of immune system responses in those rare cases of myocarditis among vaccinated individuals. The team was led by Carrie Lucas, associate professor of immunobiology, Akiko Iwasaki, Sterling Professor of Immunobiology, and Inci Yildirim, associate professor of pediatrics and epidemiology.

They found that the heart inflammation was not caused by antibodies created by the vaccine, but rather by a more generalized response involving immune cells and inflammation.

“The immune systems of these individuals get a little too revved up and over-produce cytokine and cellular responses,” Lucas said.

Earlier research had suggested that increasing the time between vaccination shots from four to eight weeks may reduce risk of developing myocarditis.

Lucas noted that, according to CDC findings, the risk of myocarditis is significantly greater in unvaccinated individuals who contract the Covid-19 virus than in those who receive vaccines. She emphasized that vaccination offers the best protection from Covid-related diseases. (ANI)

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Shah

Film Based On Facts: Tripura CM Gushes Over ‘The Kerala Story’

Amid the controversy around ‘The Kerala Story’, a film revolving around three women who were trafficked to ISIS after converting to Islam, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Shah on Saturday watched a special screening of the movie along with fellow Cabinet members and BJP leaders.

Speaking to reporters after watching the film, the Tripura CM said it bares the brutal face of ISIS, a proscribed global terror outfit operating out of Iraq and Syria, and their nefarious designs.
The CM, along with his cabinet colleagues, MLAs and BJP leaders, watched the special screening of the movie at Rupasi Cinema Hall in Agartala.

“I felt very sad watching this movie as it unravelled the cruel realities of ISIS. Such incidents could have happened to women elsewhere in the country as well, incidents that haven’t yet come to light,” Saha told reporters.

The chief minister congratulated the film’s director and the cast and crew for an honest portrayal of ISIS and terror conspiracies.

“The movie unmasks ISIS and its brutal and nefarious designs. Everyone must watch it. I wholeheartedly congratulate the director and the cast and crew of ‘The Kerala Story’ for revealing the conspiracies behind such incidents,” the Tripura CM said.

He said the movie depicts how “innocent and unsuspecting girls were being trafficked out of the country by people with evil intentions”.

“This movie shows how innocent girls are being trafficked out of the county by people with evil intentions. This film is based on facts,” Saha said.

Earlier, on May 12, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath watched ‘The Kerala Story’ along with his cabinet members at a special screening arranged at the Lok Bhawan in Lucknow.

Taking a dig at the Congress, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed that the party was indulging in appeasement politics by opposing the screening of this film, adding that it was only because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that people were getting an opportunity to watch movies like ‘The Kerala Story’, and ‘Kashmir Files’ (based on the alleged genocide and mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits).

Maurya said, “This movie must be shown in all parts of the country. This is an India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it is because of him that we are getting to watch movies like ‘The Kerala Story’ and the ‘Kashmir Files’.”

On the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal banning the film’s screening citing law-and-order concerns, Maurya said, “The ban on the film in West Bengal must be revoked.”

Amid the continuing political outcry around the movie, it was made tax-free in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. (ANI)

  1. ‘Mere paas maa hai’ Remember the iconic dialogue from Late Yash Chopra directed ‘Deewar’? The conference has mesmerized everyone and people even use it in memes nowadays. This one is still regarded as the most famous dialogue of all maa dialogues. In the scene, Shashi Kapoor being a cop confronts his nefarious brother (Amitabh Bachchan).
  2. ‘Tu abhi itna bhi ameer nahi hua, ki apni maa ko khareed sake’ True that! Another dialogue from the same movie by Nirupa Roy. Salim-Javed Akhtar gave so many legendary dialogues that made every scene in this movie irreplaceable. Such scenes prove that a mother’s DNA comprises of selfless and unconditionally that no money can buy. This movie was released in January 1975, and stars iconic actors of Bollywood like Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Nirupa Roy and Parveen Babi.
  3. ‘Ammi jaan kehti thi koi dhanda chota nahi hota’ The famous dialogue, ‘Ammi jaan kehti thi koi dhanda chota nahi hota’ Aur dhande se bada koi dharam nahi hota’ from Rahul Dholakia directed ‘Raees’ by megastar Shahrukh Khan continues to echo amongst us and provide a zeal to do something in life. Mothers are our first teacher and their nurturing shape us into good humans they do have a unique perspective on their children’s lives and can often offer valuable insights that can help their children navigate difficult situations. In this sense, they can be an invaluable source of wisdom and guidance.
  4. ‘Bhagwan har jagah nahi hota hai, Isi liye toh usne maa banai hai’ The dialogue by Late Sridevi from the movie ‘Mom’, touches your heart in a different way. This popular sentiment expresses the idea that mothers are an embodiment of God’s love and nurturing qualities. It conveys that moms are often seen as protectors, caretakers and the next best one after god, who provides us with a sense of security, comfort and care.
  5. ‘Jab ladki jawan ho jati hai, toh maa uski maa nahi rehti sehali ban jaati hai’ Have we all girls not found our true best friend in our moms? Another dialogue by Farida Jalal from ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is every mother-daughter’s true story! The relationship between a mother and daughter can evolve and change over time. As the daughter grows, they may start to develop a sense of independence and maturity, and their relationship with their mom shifts to become more of a friendship. Even after this shift, the mother plays a unique and important role in her daughter’s life, offering a source of wisdom, experience, and unconditional love.
  6. ‘Maa ke Dil ko dukha kar aaj tak koi khush nahi raha hai’ Another famous dialogue of Shahrukh Khan from the blockbuster movie ‘Devdas’ is a lesson for everyone that teaches the importance of treating mothers with kindness and respect. It suggests that when someone intentionally or unintentionally hurt their mom, they not only harm the mother, but also potentially damage the relationship between the her and child, and create negative emotions that can linger for years to come. The statement also suggests that, in the end, hurting a mother’s heart does not bring anyone happiness. Even if the person who caused the pain initially derives some pleasure or satisfaction from their actions, they will eventually come to realize the true cost of their behaviour and the toll it takes on themselves.
  7. ‘Chot lagto hai to admi maa maa hi chilata hai’ Quite relatable! This dialogue from ‘Airlift’ by Akshay Kumar highlights the need for a mother we all have, especially in times of distress or pain. When someone is hurt or experiencing a difficult situation, they naturally and instinctively call out for their mom, seeking comfort and support from the person with whom they share a strong emotional bond that exists between a mother and her child. This bond is often forged in early childhood and can endure throughout a person’s life, providing a sense of security and comfort even in the most difficult of circumstances. (ANI)

Hope Rahul Becomes PM: Siddaramaiah

Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday said with the mandate for the party in the Karnataka Assembly elections he hopes for Rahul Gandhi to become the prime minister of the country.

The Congress leader hoped that Rahul Gandhi, who was the prime ministerial candidate of the Congress in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, becomes the Prime Minister in 2024.
Describing the results of the Karnataka Assembly polls as a mandate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Siddaramaiah said that it would act as a “stepping stone” to the Lok Sabha election slated next year.

“The result of this election is a stepping stone to the Lok Sabha election. I hope all non-BJP parties come together and see that BJP is defeated and I also hope Rahul Gandhi may become PM of the country,” Siddaramaiah said.

Congress crossed the halfway mark in trends in the ongoing counting of votes for Karnataka Assembly polls.

“It is a mandate against Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda. The PM had come to Karnataka 20 times, no PM in the past campaigned like this,” Siddaramaiah said.

Commenting on the results of the May 10 Assembly elections in which Congress is leading in 129 seats besides winning 4 seats, as per the Election Commission data till 1.30 pm, he said that the party will cross 130 seats.

“We will cross 130 seats also, it is a big victory of the Congress party. The people of Karnataka wanted a change because they were fed up with the BJP government. BJP spent a lot of money on Operation ‘Kamala’. Padyatra of Rahul ji helped as well in the enthusing cadre of party,” Siddaramaiah said.

Siddaramaiah also tweeted. “This is a victory for a secular party!! People of Karnataka wanted a stable government that delivers as promised, and hence have given the mandate for Congress!!” (ANI)
