Hooda Ran 3D Govt Of Darbari, Damad, Dealers In Haryana: Shah

Coming down heavily on the previous Haryana government led by Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the former Chief Minister of the State ran a 3D government, which means Darbari, Damad, and Dealers.

Shah was addressing a public gathering here in Sirsa on the completion of nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
“The Hooda government was a 3D government, which stands for Darbari, Damad, and Dealers,” Shah said, adding that the current Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has abolished all three D’s.

During his address, the Union Minister also aimed at the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, saying that corruption of Rs 12 lakh crores was done during their regime.

“But in the last nine years [of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the Centre], even our opposition cannot accuse PM Modi of a single corruption case. Nine years ago, terrorists from Pakistan intruded into India’s land and killed our soldiers, but the then Manmohan and Sonia government kept mum. After PM Modi’s government came to the Centre, Pakistan tried to do the same, and within 10 days we gave Pakistan a befitting reply with surgical strikes and air strikes,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Shah also paid obeisance at Gurudwara Shri Chilla Sahib in Sirsa district.

Besides this, he also addressed a gathering in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, where he targeted the Bhagwant Mann’s government.

During a rally held in Gurdaspur, Shah sarcastically referred to Mann as a “travel planner” and alleged that his primary responsibility was to shuttle Kejriwal to various locations.

He questioned whether Mann was fulfilling the role of a Chief Minister or that of a pilot, highlighting his extensive involvement in escorting Kejriwal.

“Punjab Chief Minister has only one job and that is to make Kejriwal tour the country. If Kejriwal wants to go to Madras, then take a plane to Delhi and take him to Chennai by plane, if Kejriwal wants to go to Kolkata, then take a plane to Delhi and take him to Kolkata. Sometimes I don’t even know whether he is the Chief Minister or a pilot,” Shah said.

As the Bharatiya Janata Party is completing its nine years at the Centre, the party has launched a Jan Sampark Abhiyan, in which several Union ministers, MPs and party leaders are holding programmes across the country including public meetings and meeting with intellectuals.

The BJP is telling people about the work done by the Modi government for various sections under PM Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka, Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’.

Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, in the first term and on May 30, 2019, in the second term. (ANI)

Schools in various districts of Tamil Nadu will remain closed on Monday due to heavy rain, said the respective district administrations.

So far, a holiday has been declared for schools in six districts – Ranipet, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet and Vellore.
Moderate thunderstorm with moderate rain is very likely in isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts for the next 3 hours (7 am to 10 am), said Regional Metrology Department, Chennai.

Widespread heavy rainfall was recorded across Chennai last night.

Meanwhile, parts of Delhi received light rainfall on Monday morning, bringing respite from the scorching heat.

The IMD predicted mostly cloudy skies with the possibility of very light rain and drizzle in Delhi for Monday (June 19).

Following incessant rain, a rise in water level was witnessed in the Brahmaputra River in Assam.

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Assam’s Lakhimpur remains grim.

As the water levels of many rivers are rising up following incessant rain and a few districts of Assam have been affected in the first spell of the flood, the state government is ready to deal with any kind of situation and directed all districts to be alert.

The Assam government is in touch with all agencies including the Indian army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and NDRF to tackle the emergency situation.

Talking about the flood preparedness made by the state government, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Assam Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) Gyanendra Dev Tripathi told ANI that, the overall situation is building up, not at its peak and it is the start of flood season, but the state government is fully prepared to deal with any kind of situation.

The remnant of the cyclonic storm Biparjoy which created a depression over central parts of East Rajasthan is likely to move nearly east-northeastwards and maintain its intensity of depression during the next 12 hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Earlier on Sunday, heavy rain lashed parts of Rajasthan’s Barmer district under the influence of cyclonic storm Biparjoy. Severe waterlogging and a flood-like situation were seen at various places.”The Depression (Remnant of CS BIPARJOY) over central parts of East Rajasthan lay at 23:30 IST of 18th June about 60 km west-northwest of Tonk, 60 km east-southeast of Ajmer. Likely to move nearly east-northeastwards and maintain its intensity of Depression during next 12 hrs,” tweeted IMD.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Saturday said that as cyclone Biparjoy has weakened into a deep depression and is moving in the East-North East direction, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas of North Gujarat.

He further said that it is raining only in Gujarat and Rajasthan due to the cyclone.

“Cyclone Biparjoy weakened into a deep depression. It is moving in the East-North East direction. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas of North Gujarat. Due to the cyclone, it is raining only in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Monsoon has nothing to do with this cyclone,” Mohapatra said while talking to ANI.

The cyclone Biparjoy weakened into a ‘Deep Depression’ on June 16 over Southeast Pakistan adjoining Southwest Rajasthan and Kutch, about 100 km northeast of Dholavira and moved to Rajasthan following its landfall in Gujarat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

It is further expected to weaken into a ‘Depression’ in the next 12 hours, the weather department said. (ANI)

Samir Saran

Modi’s Visit To US Has Potential To Change Political, Tech Landscape For Future: Samir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to US has the potential to change the political and technological landscape for the future, according to geopolitical expert Samir Saran.

In an exclusive interview with ANI Editor Smita Prakash, Observer Research Foundation (ORF) President Samir Saran said “As far as I am concerned and as I have written in my piece that appeared yesterday that you know this is a visit that has the potential to change the political landscape as well as the technology landscape for the future.”
Samir Saran who curates the Raisina Dialogue, India’s annual conference on cybersecurity and internet governance. His research focuses on issues of global governance, climate change and energy policy, technology and media, and India’s foreign policy.

Saran acknowledged that the US-India partnership is important. He noted that a lot has changed since PM Modi’s last visit to the US in 2016, the third bilateral meeting between Modi and US President Barack Obama. He said that PM Modi’s visit is aimed to transform India-US ties.

He further said, “So, this partnership is clearly important for all of this and what is it that is different this time, I think the last visit was in 2016, a good eight years ago or seven years and wasn’t a state visit and it was at a very different time. In seven years, a lot has changed, Europe is very different, it looks very different, what’s happening there.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first-ever Indian PM to address the US Congress twice. He will be travelling to the US on a state visit which is seen as huge both in content and symbolism. He will get a 21-gun salute, will be hosted by US President Joe Biden at the White House and there will be extensive dialogue on the economy, strategy and climate change.

Moreover, Samir Saran stressed that India will have to focus on how to manage China and how to partner with the US.

Samir Saran said, “As far as Indians are concerned, two relationships – how we manage China and how we partner with the US, are the two equations we need to manage well if we need to ensure that we are in the position where we can shape outcomes, where we can contribute to global requirements, where we can serve the larger human needs and where of course we can meet the aspirations of a very young India, that is more demanding and louder and impatient in some ways.”

Saran further highlighted the continuity in the relationship between the two countries and called PM Modi’s visit to the US the future of the book that was written in the early 2000s.

“Look, we were just talking about the Manmohan Singh, Vajpayee years of the relationship and I was suggesting that, that was the period when we laid to the rest of the demons of the 20th century. We, perhaps, decided to script a new future. This is that future. This visit is that future,” Samir Saran said.

“So, if that was the preface of the book in the early 2000s, this is now the main book being written. This visit is where we are actually, after having heard everyone, you are good, he is bad, that is the issue, they are capable of doing this, they are capable of doing that we have heard everyone, we have assessed each other. We have played aloof, played warm, played friendly. We have played all the games with each other. This is it,” he added.

Samir Saran said that the visit of PM Modi is extremely different not only due to the different personalities of the leadership but due to the common convergence and determination to carve a relationship that will serve the future.

“There couldn’t be two dissimilar leaders driving this relationship and there couldn’t be greater convergence between these two leaders as it is happening. This visit, Biden and PM Modi is extremely different because of not only the personalities of the leadership. But, because, despite the different personalities, the common convergence and determination to carve a relationship that will serve the future and this is that relationship,” Samir Saran said.

ORF President further explained the importance of the India-US partnership in the backdrop Covid pandemic, disarray in Europe, climate change and China’s assertiveness. Samir Saran stressed that this is an era where India and US are deciding to do something “dramatic.”

“This is not a period when we are promising that we will work together. This is a period of great transition happening in the world. We have Europe in disarray, we have a China that is promising to upset everything, and we have just come out of a pandemic that has derailed economic futures. We have of course and most importantly a crisis such as climate change confronting all of us and we have a restless population within our country and outside. So, this is a very very different era, a different time frame, the time period where our two countries are deciding to do something dramatic,” he added.

PM Modi is set to visit the US at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The visit will commence in New York where the Prime Minister will lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21.

PM Modi will then travel to Washington DC, where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22, and meet US President Biden to continue their high-level dialogue, according to a release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

PM Modi will also address a Joint Sitting of the US Congress on June 22. On June 23, PM Modi will be jointly hosted at a luncheon by US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of the State Antony Bilnken. In addition to official engagements, the Prime Minister is scheduled to have several curated interactions with leading CEOs, professionals, and other stakeholders. He will also meet members of the Indian Diaspora.

PM Modi will then travel to Cairo to pay a state visit to Egypt from June 24-25. (ANI)
