Delhi BJP chief Detained While Protesting For Kejriwal’s Resignation

Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva has been detained while leading party’s protest demanding resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is in ED custody in the Liquor Excise Policy case.

On Tuesday, BJP hit the streets from Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to Delhi Secretariat via ITO. Police used water cannons at the BJP workers as they tried to march towards the Secretariat crossing the barricades raised by Delhi Police.

“The CM of Delhi is corrupt and dishonest and he has looted the people of Delhi. We are going to the Secretariat to demand his resignation… The government is not running from the jail. Just like AAP’s character, the orders are also fake… Arvind Kejriwal has to resign,” Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva told ANI ahead of getting detained.

“Arvind Kejriwal is in jail and he thinks he will run the government from jail. Previously, many chief ministers were arrested and they also believe the same… Former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa had to tender their resignations after their arrests,” another BJP leader said.

He further said, “BJP leaders and party workers are protesting… This protest will not stop till Kejriwal submits his resignation. Arvind Kejriwal used to say he would never take bribes, bungalows, cars but he has taken all the benefits.”

BJP candidate from New Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency Bansuri Swaraj sad, “Running the government from the jail is unfavourable to the people of Delhi… I want to ask Arvind Kejriwal why is his soul asleep. You should resign based on ethics… They are doing press conferences to create false sympathy…”

Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protestors were detained outside Patel Chowk metro station while protesting against the arrest of its convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Among those who were detained were Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains.

AAP leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai said that the people of Delhi would continue to fight for Kejriwal.

“The people of Delhi are not able to understand how Arvind Kejriwal was sent to jail and Sharad Reddy was granted bail when both were booked under the same charges…The people of Delhi will continue to fight for Arvind Kejriwal” he said. (ANI)

Vested Interests Are Misleading Punjab Farmers

‘Vested Interests From India And Abroad Misleading Punjab Farmers’

Ashok Baliyan, a farmer from Muzaffarnagar in western UP, says the ongoing farmers’ protest is a ploy to discredit the current government ahead of Lok Sabha elections. His views:

This alleged Farmers’ protest is sponsored by the opposition parties and some international lobbies with the sole motive of disturbing the law and order just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the country. This protest also seeks to create a rift between the two main farmers’ community of the western UP, Haryana and Punjab – the Jats and the Sikhs.

There are numerous videos floating on the social media exposing the real motive of this anti national gang. For example, there is a video of an alleged farmers’ leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal where he is seen expressing concerns over the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi especially after the consecration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya which, according to him, needs to be brought down or maligned (before the elections). It is ridiculous as to how the popularity of the PM is a problem or threat to the farmers. This exposes the real motive of the protest is not for the benefit of farming community but to the detriment of the Prime Minister. These alleged farmers, by hook or crook, are desperate to create disturbance before the elections.

Take a look at the equipment and machinery that are being carried by them (JCBs, Pokland excavators, modified tractors etc) to fight off the security forces and barge into New Delhi. Are they planning a protest or a revolt in the country? The most important question is: why only the farmers of Punjab and a bunch from Haryana are the ones feel exploited and unhappy with the policies of the government? In the present days of social media, nothing goes unnoticed and the people of India are informed enough to know the exact motive of these agitators and the people behind them.

This clearly indicates that efforts are being made to create a feeling of separatism among the Sikhs in the name of the farmers’ movement and the separatists and extremists who are provoking the Sikhs in the name of the farmers’ movement should be exposed and crushed without mercy.

Sikh Gurus sacrificed their life for the sake of Dharma. It is surprising that a bunch of separatists and extremists describe themselves as separate from the Sanatan Dharma, playing as puppets in the hands of vested interest sitting outside the country. Fed with emotions, they forget that Sikh community has paid the highest price for defeating separatist movements in the country.

The government is making all possible efforts to reach out to the agitators for a cordial agreement and has held various rounds of meetings. But, as it is evident, their real masters are not interested in an agreement; they keep springing new and impractical demands after every meeting. The Government needs to be firm in dealing with the agitators to send a clear message that any attempt to disturb the peace or tarnish the image of the real farmers will not go unpunished.

JNU Says My Name is Red

My Name is Red And I’m No Pushover

And if it were said of us that we’re almost romantics, that we are incorrigible idealists, that we think the impossible: then a thousand and one times we have to answer – ‘yes we are’
Che Guevara

Idealism, yet again, has won in JNU! Demonised, destablished, destroyed, degraded, demoralized, deconstructed, debunked and damaged, JNU, predictably, has yet again risen from the ashes of contemporary history, phoenix-like, a red star luminescent like hope shining, amidst the darkened skies blacked out by the perverse and putrid shadow of fascism.

In this beautiful, lush green landscape, where the wings of pure, eclectic desire and passion was always in synthesis with the imagined utopia of universal freedom, justice and equality, surely, the commune of Prussian-blue peacocks across the rocky Aravalli terrain of the Parthasarathy plateau and the open-air theatre — they too must be celebrating, joining the addictive slogan of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ — with the lovely choir and chorus of their lingering, echoing, sing-song, peacock calls. Theory, once again, has found radical catharsis in praxis.

It’s truly a festival of colours in JNU once again, after a prolonged period of what used to be routinely called in its simple, hand-made, cyclo-styled pamphlets of the past – a ‘graveyard of silence’.  Undoubtedly, it is ‘resurrection time’, and a sublime omen before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Elections happened in the hounded campus after four years – something unprecedented in its history. Those days it used to happen when the chilly nip in the air had just arrived, the campus would be full of lovely pre-winter flowers, and the greenish-white flowers in soft clusters of the tall Saptaparni trees would fill the atmospherics with a sublime sensuality which could drive both poets and philosophers mad!

Those days the elections would be called the ‘Great October Revolution’ – as an annual tribute to the Great Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 led by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the working class, the poorest, and the resilient people of Russia. The Election Commission (EC), as it is now, would be composed of students. No EVMs were ever used, and the EC was eternally non-partisan, unbiased, and provided an equal playing field to all the students’ organisations.

No outside political or extra-constitutional interference, and no vulgar exhibition of money or muscle power was allowed; all posters were hand-made by students, spaces in walls and public spaces were duly allotted to all contestants, public meetings were held peacefully at night in the hostel messes, campaigning would go on from morning till late night inside and outside classrooms, whereby the candidates would present their manifestos and arguments, no violence, unruly behaviour, abusive language or aggression was tolerated by all concerned, and the elections were conducted in the schools with great maturity, efficiency and discipline.

The counting day, which was always a nocturnal affair, marked the cathartic finale of this grand festival of democracy, when students in multiple groups would celebrate the entire night with drums, songs, slogans and collective bonhomie. Once over, the winners would take out a victory procession across the girls and boys’ hostels, shouting slogans, singing songs, making the campus resonant with a pronounced youthful fervour. The opponents and losers were all treated with dignity and respect, and differences were swallowed by all in a democratic spirit, albeit, sometimes, with a big pinch of salt!

The United Left has given a decisive drubbing to the ABVP in JNU this time, thereby sending a clear signal to the sleazeball Electoral Bonds party, flush with multi-million scam money, that ‘achche din’ finally seems to be coming in India, after the dingy days of prolonged darkness at noon. JNU might be a small campus, and just about 5,500 students voted in what was a 73 per cent turn-out, but the signals sent from there to the country, especially to students and young voters, is strong and optimistic. Indeed, with their mighty messiahs and fake guarantees, the students’ wing of the BJP, as always, lost badly.

Earlier, they had allegedly created an aggressive ruckus inside the campus, their trademark style repeatedly witnessed in Delhi University in the past, especially when they choose to violently disrupt an academic seminar, or a film show organized by students and faculty. There is a certain pattern to this predictable lumpenism which marks their compulsive behaviour! In a typical response, a massive, non-violent ‘mashaal jaloos’ was taken inside JNU by students, led by the Left.

ALSO READ: JNU Is Not Going To Crawl Or Bend

Pray, hold your own seminar and film show! Show all the Vivek Agnihotri, Anupam Kher and Kangana Ranaut films to your heart’s desire! Why do violence when an intellectually stimulating seminar or public meeting is being conducted peacefully, with a Q and A session, or a meaningful classic is being screened? If anything, go, ask one hundred questions – what stops them?

It is not a dark irony of history that they flourish and flex their muscles only when they have their party in power. Ask them to make sacrifices, face police barricades, take up burning causes of injustice or social suffering, and they will disappear into the blue.

JNU still remembers how ABVP goons, under the tacit protection of the cops, went berserk with iron rods etc., attacking hostels, teachers and students, and smashing the head of the then JNU Students’ Union president, Aishee Ghosh, her face splattered with blood. Not one of these goons were punished by their mentors in the ruling regime. And when Deepika Padukone came to a peaceful rally in the campus, and stood in silence in solidarity, she was relentlessly hounded by the stooge media.

Earlier, the onslaught started when Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and Kanhaiya were arrested with not an iota of evidence. There was organized propaganda that this prestigious academic institution, with its students spread across the Indian and international kaleidoscope (including inside the central BJP cabinet of ministers), was a den of ‘anti-national’ activities. So much so, this demonization campaign was conducted with the brazen objective to destroy its essence and liberating character, with another stooge vice-chancellor at the helm, who left no stone unturned to destroy JNU.

And, yet, JNU has repeatedly shown that it is a shining landmark in the firmament of higher education, and the students have proved this, again and again. Thousands of youngsters continued to sit for its entrance exams despite the negative propaganda. The library is an every-day intellectual refuge for its students, sometimes till past midnight, and the canteen and rocks, its heady locations of friendship, the adventure of ideas, and creative arguments. Reading Pablo Neruda and Muktiboth outside Ganga Dhaba under the lamp-post, or debating about global politics, or the Tiananmen Square massacre of June, 1989 in Beijing, the doors of enlightenment have always had open-ended windows.

The cause of Dalits, adivasis, minorities, the poor, women’s rights, and injustice across the world, from Gaza to Ukraine, would find its resonance in JNU. Indeed, we all danced in many circles at the India Gate, when Nelson Mandela was released from prison after a long condemnation of three decades, in apartheid South Africa.

The United Left victory, therefore, is more than a signal in the current scenario of quasi-dictatorship in India. Two elected chief ministers have been put in prison. One is a tribal leader, and the other a middle-class hero across the country, who has done a lot for the poor, especially by turning government schools into fabulous symbols of modern enlightenment, among other social welfare measures. Congress funds have been frozen, once again, an unprecedented move against the main opposition party! Mamata Bannerjee’s party is facing daily raids by the agencies, latest being Mohua Moitra, who took on the PM and Adani in Parliament.

Brilliant scholars, including Umar Khalid, are languishing in prison, for protesting peacefully against the communal and anti-constitutional CAA. The Election Commission (selected by a ruling party majority) and EVMs are under a shadow of doubt. The mainstream media is shamelessly toeing the establishment line.

In this bleak scenario, the slogans reverberating in JNU, and becoming viral in the social media, with young, passionate faces refusing to succumb, marks a happy departure from the tragic twilight zone that stalks India. Surely, if idealism can win in JNU, why not then, in the rest of this beautiful and vast country?

Rajnath

Confident That PoK Will Itself Merge With India: Rajnath

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the people of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are themselves raising the demand for a merger with India. He expressed the confidence that the people of PoK will merge with India.

He made the remarks during the ‘AAP ki Adalat’ programme on India TV. Asked about Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent remarks about Kashmir, Rajnath Singh said, “Can they ever take Kashmir? They should be worried about Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. I had said almost one and a half years ago that there will be no need for us to attack and occupy, because a situation is developing there that people of PoK themselves are demanding merger with India.”

On being asked whether the government was making any plan, he responded, “I will not say anything more, I should not. We are not going to attack any country. India has a character of never attacking any country in the world, nor has it occupied an inch of other’s territory. But PoK was ours, PoK is ours, and I am confident that PoK will itself merge with India.”

Earlier in February, a political activist from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Amjad Ayub Mirza, has claimed that the people in PoK are fed up with Pakistani occupation and they are now demanding merger with India.

In a video released by him, activist Mirza said, “The people of PoK in the last few days have told me that they now demand to be merged into India, as they are officially their citizens”.

“The recent elections in Pakistan have just given us a fractured mandate. The upcoming elections will have a fruitful result for India but we the people of PoK ask that, for how long will we have to wait to get rid of Pakistan’s oppression and get merged in India?” the PoK activist added.

He stated that India has a character of never attacking any nation and not occupying anyone’s land. However, he asserted that India will give a befitting response if its prestige is attacked by anyone.

Asked if China attacks India, Rajnath Singh said, “God should give them the good sense not to commit such mistakes. India has a character of never attacking any country, but if any country attacks us, we do not spare them. But the truth is that if anyone asks us, we have good relations with all our neighbours.”

“We want to maintain ties but not at the cost of India’s self-respect. But if any country attacks India’s prestige, it has the power to give it a befitting reply. We want to have good relations with neighbours because Atal ji used to say that we should keep in mind that we can change friends in life but neighbours never change,” he added.

He asserted that India will tackle any threat that arises from China. He emphasised that India has become a powerful nation in the world.

On being asked whether there was any threat from China now, the Defence Minister said, “We will tackle if any threat arises, what’s there in it. But, we cannot sit holding our head in hands thinking about the threat. If the threat arises, it will be tackled. India is no more a weak country. India has become a powerful country in the world.”

On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that China has occupied nearly 2,000 square kilometres of India’s territory, he expressed sadness over his remarks and stated that he does not want to remind him about the activities China did in 1962.

He said, “I am feeling really sad that he is questioning the valour of our jawans. He should not be making such remarks. How much territory was occupied by China in 1962 and what activities have been done by China. I do not want to remind him and do not talk about it. Rest assured, today, we can say that we will not like to lose even an inch of our territory. I cannot disclose much about the details because India and China are engaged in talks, and the talks are going on in a right manner. Talks are going on in a cordial atmosphere. Otherwise, I would have disclosed more details. Please do not compel me to disclose more. I cannot disclose much.”

Earlier in February, India and China held the 21st round of Corps Commander level meeting on Monday at the Chushul-Moldo border to defuse tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

The two nations have been engaged in a standoff since April-May 2020 over the transgressions by the Chinese Army in multiple areas including the Finger area, Galwan Valley, Hot springs, and Kongrung Nala. The situation worsened after violent clashes with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June 2020.

Lauding the bravery of India’s defence personnel, he stated, “I just want to say that whatever happened with China this time too, I feel proud of the courage shown by soldiers of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy personnel. There are many such incidents that if countrymen are made aware of about the army of our country, their respect will increase further.”

Recalling the fight between India and China in Galwan, he stated that India’s soldiers did not fire a single shot and instead were engaged in a physical combat. He said India lost 20 soldiers during the fight. However, China did not disclose information regarding their soldiers.

He said, “You have seen what happened in Galwan during our fight with China, our brave jawans did not fire a single shot, they were engaged in physical combat. 20 of our jawans were killed, and how many Chinese soldiers were killed? I am not saying, but foreign agency reports say 35 to 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the clashes. We have not said anything related to China. We have accepted it that 20 of our jawans were killed.”

He noted that “it is true that China is carrying out infrastructure development near Line of Control at a fast pace since a long time.” He further said that Defence Minister during Congress government asked not to develop infrastructure on India-China border. He stated that India has started developing infrastructure at a fast pace after the Modi-led government came to power.

He said, “it is true that China is carrying out infrastructure development near Line of Control at a fast pace since a long time. During Congress government, Defence Minister said that if we develop infrastructure on the India-China border, China will enter India, so do not develop infrastructure. After the Modi government came to power, we have also started developing infrastructure at a fast speed on border.”

Refuting Rahul Gandhi’s claims that PM Narendra Modi fears China, he responded, “I am surprised when somebody says Modiji Darte Hain. It is not in his nature to be afraid. There is nothing to be afraid of. The problem is these people do not understand. Why are they raising questions about India’s strength and valour”. (ANI)

Opposition bloc INDIA Kejriwal

Opposition To Hold Mega Rally At Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan On March 31

All the parties of the Opposition bloc INDIA will hold a joint mega rally on March 31 to register their protest against Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the alleged Liquor policy money laundering case, party MP Raghav Chadha said on Sunday.

The AAP leader in a post on X, said that the rally will be held to “save the country’s democracy” and stand in solidarity with Arvind Kejriwal.

“INDIA that is Bharat, will unitedly protest against Arvind Kejriwal Ji’s illegal and outrightly political arrest. All INDIA parties to hold a joint mega rally on 31st March,” Chadha said.

He further said that the mega rally will take place at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital.

“Historic Ramlila Maidan in Delhi will witness lacs of people coming together to save India’s democracy and stand in solidarity with #ArvindKejriwal,” he added.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier in the week on charges of corruption in the Delhi excise policy case.

The case pertains to alleged irregularities in formulating and implementing the Delhi excise policy 2021-22, which was later scrapped.

While Kejriwal was not named in the FIRs registered by the ED or the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Delhi excise policy case, his name first found a mention in the ED’s chargesheet wherein the agency claimed that he allegedly spoke to one of the main accused, Sameer Mahendru, in a video call and asked him to continue working with co-accused and AAP communications-in-charge Vijay Nair.

Nair was among the first people to be arrested by CBI in the case, in 2022. Subsequently, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were arrested in connection with the case.

Several leaders of the INDIA bloc have come out in support of Arvind Kejriwal and accused the BJP and the Union government of arm-twisting the opposition.

However, the BJP has denied all the allegations.

INDIA bloc is a coalition of over 20 opposition parties formed last year to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance in the general elections, dates for which were announced earlier in the month.

Meanwhile, in response to the protests held by the AAP workers in Delhi against the arrest of Kejriwal, Bhartiya Janata Party workers, in the presence of Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, staged a demonstration and burned effigies of the Delhi CM.

Speaking to ANI, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, “Holi is a festival of goodness over evil. Today we have done the Holika dahan of corruption. If there is one face of corruption in Delhi, that is Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Each and every delhite should wish for a Kejriwal free government, a corruption free government.” (ANI)

This Holi, Chinese Merchandise Loses Market Share

Shoppers Throng Delhi Markets Ahead Of Holi

People thronged markets in the national capital on Sunday, ahead of Holi, making last-minute purchases of colours or gulals, trendy water guns, and colourful wigs.

Sadar Bazar in the national capital wore a festive look as shops recorded huge footfalls of people buying different kinds of items for the celebration of the festival of colours.

Masks inspired by leaders across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Yogi Adtiyanath, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, among others, were trending in markets, bringing a distinct political flavour to the Holi celebrations ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

A shopkeeper in one of the crowded markets in the national capital said the demand for masks and water guns with photos of political leaders was higher as compared to the other items on sale.

“Water guns with images of PM Modi are in great demand. People are paying well for these water guns. However, the overall sales this year are slightly lower than last year. However, the markets are buzzing,” he said.

Another dealer of Holi items said the demand for colours and gulal was higher than last year.

Speaking to ANI, Md. Rashid, a shopkeeper in the Sadar market, said, “The water guns with images of PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, and CM Yogi are in demand as the elections are not too far away now. This year, we sold more items as compared to last year.”

Another shopkeeper, Saleem Ahmed, who sells colourful wigs, also talked up the sales this year.

“Everyone wants to wear a festive look on Holi. These colourful wigs are selling big this year. The overall sales this year, ahead of Holi, is better than the previous year. The pleasant weather is also one of the reasons why pre-Holi shoppers are turning out in such big numbers,” he said.

People across the country flocked to nearby markets to purchase sweets and colours. The streets were dotted with make-shift shops selling gulal, colours, toys, and other decor.

Not just enthusiastic countrymen but overseas tourists as well could be seen breaking into unbridled celebrations ahead of Holi.

Tourists were seen flocking to Pushkar in Rajasthan to not just bask in the local celebratory flavour around ‘Pushkar ki Holi’ but also mingle with locals.

One of the tourists visiting Pushkar expressed his delight saying he was’very excited’ to be in India to cerebrate Holi.

“I feel very happy to be here. This is one of the holiest sites in the world. I am getting good energy and celebratory vibes from the locals. It just feels very nice. I am excited to experience the ambience around the festival here,” he told ANI.

Holi, a festival celebrated with as much fervour in the country as it is overseas, will be marked on March 25, Monday, this year.

The festival is preceded by a ritual of lighting bonfires called Holika Dahan, signifying the burning of the demon Holika.

Some of the country’s oldest and most popular pilgrimage sites, such as Vrindavan, Mathura, and Barsana, draw revellers on this day, smearing themselves with the colours of Holi. (ANI)

Rajnath Celebrates Holi With Soldiers In Leh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday celebrated the festival of colours, Holi, with soldiers in Leh. He was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande and General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps Lt Gen Rashim Bali.

The Raksha Mantri was intially scheduled to visit the Siachen area, the world’s highest battlefield, for the celebration but couldn’t do so due to the prevailing ‘inclement weather’. He spoke to the commanding officer deployed at Siachen over the phone and promised to visit them as soon as possible.

Speaking to jawans and other senior defence personnel on the occasion, the Raksha Mantri said, “If Delhi is our national capital, Ladakh is a capital of bravery and valour. Visiting you all to celebrate Holi makes this one of the happiest moments for me. Siachen is no ordinary land. It is an unshakeable symbol of India’s sovereignty and determination. It represents our national determination,” he said.

“I have said it many times before and will say it again: it is our duty to take care of you, your children, your parents…your family. We are always ready for that. I do not need to tell you here that with the same diligence with which you are working for this country by dedicating your body and mind, our government is also working for the betterment of our armed forces,” Rajnath added.

On the occasion, Singh requested Army Chief Manoj Pande to establish a new tradition by telling the Air chief and Navy chief that whenever a festival comes around, they should ring in the celebrations the day before with soldiers and armed forces personnel deployed at the frontiers and protecting the country’s sovereignty in the face of grave adversities.

From the snowy peaks of Kargil to the scorching deserts and plains of Rajasthan, or in a submarine deployed in the deep sea, the forces are ever-alert and awake to all external threats, the Raksha Mantri said. (ANI)
