David Warner

David Warner Pens Down Emotional Note Ahead Of Farewell Test Series

As he readies himself for the concluding Test series of his cricket career, Australian opener David Warner has shared a heartfelt message reflecting on the honor of receiving the iconic ‘Baggy Green’ Australian Test cap and encourages aspiring young cricketers to pursue their dreams and allow it to guide them towards a “future filled with passion and purpose.”

Australia will take on Pakistan in the first Test at Perth on Thursday. This will be the final Test assignment of Warner’s illustrious career. The veteran opener will be hoping to go out with a bang following the third Test at his home arena of Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

“To all the young kids out there, this was me when I first received my baggy and flick left to now.

“I want to remind you that your dreams are incredibly important. Whatever it is that you aspire to be or achieve, remember that your dreams are valid and worth pursuing. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and never be afraid to dream big like I did. Whether you dream of becoming a professional athlete, an artist, a teacher, or anything else, know that with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, you can turn your dreams into reality.”

“Do not let anyone discourage you or tell you that your dreams are too big or too ambitious. Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you, and remember that setbacks and challenges are a natural part of the journey toward making your dreams come true. Stay focused, stay positive, and never stop believing in yourself and your dreams.”

“Your dreams are the fuel that can drive you to great accomplishments, so hold onto them tightly and let them guide you toward a future filled with passion and purpose.

Believe in your dreams, and believe in yourself no matter what. #dreams #selfbelief #trust,” said Warner in his Instagram post.

Warner’s post featured a picture of him as a kid, then a picture of him with his Test cap during his early days as a long-format player and finally a picture from the present, wearing a worn-out, torn Test cap that he received back in 2011. The worn-out, dilapidated state of his cap also serves as a reminder of Warner’s longevity not only in Tests, but also in international cricket ever since an explosive debut against South Africa back in 2009 without a first-class game to his name.

In 109 Tests for Australia, Warner has scored 8,487 runs at an average of 44.43, with 25 centuries and 36 half-centuries in 199 innings. His best score is 335*. He is the seventh-highest run-scorer for Aussies in Tests, with legendary Ricky Ponting (13,378 runs) at the top.

An all-format star, Warner has scored a total of 18,313 runs in his international career at an average of 42.39 in 369 matches. He has scored 48 centuries and 93 fifties in 457 innings. His best score is 335*. He is the third-highest run-getter in international cricket for Aussies, with Ponting (27,368 runs) at the top.

Warner has an incredible Test record against Pakistan, scoring 1,253 runs in 10 matches at an average of 83.53, with five centuries and four fifties to his name in 16 innings. His best score is 335*.

Warner is considered as one of the greatest openers of the modern era. (ANI)

Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher systems

Defence Min Approves Rs 2800 Cr Rockets For Pinaka Weapon System

In a major boost for the Indian Army, the Defence Ministry has approved a Rs 2,800 crore proposal for buying around 6,400 rockets for Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher systems.

The Defence Ministry’s Defence Acquisition Council’s recent meeting had cleared the proposal for the acquisition of two types of these rockets, known as Area Denial Munition Type 2 and Type-3, defence sources told ANI.

The rockets would be procured by the Indian Army from indigenous sources only and two main contenders include the Economic Explosives Limited of Solar Industries and the Munitions India Limited– one of the ammunition-producing companies created by the corporatisation of the erstwhile Ordnance Factories, they said.

The Indian-made Pinaka weapon system, named after the bow of Hindu god Shiva, has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

The weapon system is one of the first few Indian military terms to have been exported to foreign countries, including Armenia.

Private sector companies involved in the project include Larsen & Toubro, Tata Defence and Economic Explosives Limited.

have set up production lines for the Pinaka system that are being supplied in bulk to the armed forces.

As part of larger artillery modernisation plans, the army has a requirement of 22 regiments of the Pinaka MBRL.

Pinaka regiments of the Indian Army include launchers with automated gun aiming and positioning systems and command posts.

The trials of the Pinaka rockets have also been conducted recently by the forces in Pokharan firing ranges in Rajasthan and multiple successful test firings have been carried out during these tests. (ANI)

Lok Sabha Intruders

Let Him Be Hanged: Father Of Intruder Who Breached Parliament Security

Following a major security breach in Parliament, where two individuals jumped in the Lok Sabha from the visitors’ gallery, causing a commotion, the father of one of the intruders, Manoranjan, acknowledged that his son was “wrong” and stated that he should be “hanged” if he had committed any wrongdoing for society.

On the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament terror attack, there was a major security breach when two intruders entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery during Zero Hour.

“He is wrong. A child should not do this. If my son has done anything good, of course, I support him, but if he has done something wrong, I strongly condemn it. Let him be hanged if he has done something wrong for society,” Devraj, father of Manoranjan, said on Wednesday.

There was a huge security breach during Zero Hour in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon after two men, both carrying canisters that emitted yellow smoke, jumped from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber before they were overpowered by the MPs. Similarly, in another incident, two protestors — Neelam (42) and Amol (25) — protested outside the Parliament with similar gas canisters. However, all four were detained later.

Delhi Police sources said that initial investigations revealed that all four people and one unidentified fifth person came from outside the national capital and stayed at the residence of a man in Gurugram.

“A manhunt has been launched to nab the remaining two,” they added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police officials said that Neelam and Amol, who were detained from outside Parliament in front of Transport Bhawan, in preliminary investigations, revealed that they were not carrying mobile phones or any other identity proof.

Both have refused to have any connection with any organisation, they said.

Earlier in the day, senior officials of the Intelligence Bureau visited the new Parliament building, where the major security breach happened. (ANI)

Suniel Shetty

Suniel Relives Boycott Bollywood Trend, Credits Yogi With Ending It

Weighing in on the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend, a dark phase in the industry when trolls on social media called for the boycott of Bollywood releases, including some big-budget ones, actor Suniel Shetty credited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with putting an end to it.

Last year, in January, Shetty urged CM Adityanath to rid the industry of the viral social media trend, which affected the box-office business of some big films.

Speaking exclusively to ANI, the actor said, “I think it was just a phase, a movement that came and went. Lots of things were happening with Bollywood and ‘#Boycott Bollywood’ was a viral trend, a big movement that was causing further damage to what was already happening in our industry at the time. But when I spoke to Yogi-ji, I was honest. The first thing that I told him was, ‘
bhagwan par bhi to ungli uth ti hai, hum to insaan hain
(some even point fingers at the Almighty, we are only human). He took it very positively.”

“Where are all these trolls now? Does the hashtag exist anymore? Just 10 people here and there, putting out #Boycott Bollywood posts on social media doesn’t make any sense anymore. It didn’t even make any sense back in the day when it became a viral trend. I believe it was just a phase that we rode out. We just went through a bad patch,” he added.

Earlier, in January, during a sit-down with the UP chief minister, the ‘Dhadkan’ actor put forward some of the industry’s grievances before him.

Recalling his conversation with the UP CM, Shetty said, “I remember telling him, ‘The ‘#BoycottBollywood’ trend can stop with your help. It was important to convey that we’ve done good work. There can be one rotten search apple but 99 per cent of us don’t indulge in any wrongdoing. We’ve to change this perception. I told him, ‘If you take the lead and also talk to PM, it will make a difference’.”

Now, almost after a year, Shetty said things have changed.

“All I said was that, ‘Sir, you want us to come there (take film shoots to Uttar Pradesh) but at the same time there is this ban that is happening, where do we go? All we need is respect and it was conveyed and received so beautifully. And now things have changed.”

‘#Boycott Bollywood’ started trending after the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

However, in 2022, netizens reignited the trend before the release of big-budget films such as ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, ‘Liger’, ‘Brahmastra’, and ‘Raksha Bandhan’. The trend affected the box-office business of some of these films.

Films like ‘Liger’, and ‘Brahmastra’ also faced boycott calls. However, ‘Brahmastra’ defied the boycott calls and did very good business at the box office, emerging as one of the highest-grossing films of 2022. (ANI)

Telangana parliament

Parliament Passes Bill To Establish Central Tribal Univ In Telangana

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill aimed at establishing a Central Tribal University in Telangana for providing higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population.

The Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was passed unanimously through a voice vote after the Opposition earlier walked out of the house in the middle of the debate over the security breach issue in the lower house. Two persons jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour and released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by MPs.

The bill was already passed by the Lok Sabha on December 7. It was introduced in the lower house on December 4. It amended the Central Universities Act, 2009.

As the Bill establishes a Central Tribal University in Telangana, it will be named the ‘Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University’. Its territorial jurisdiction will extend to Telangana. It will provide avenues of higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population of India.

It is pertinent to note that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, provides that the central government will establish a Tribal University in Telangana.

Responding to the debate on the bill, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the government aimed to establish Central Tribal University in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Regarding the delay in the university’s establishment in Telangan, Pradhan attributed it to the time taken by the Telangana government to identify a suitable location for the institution.

He stated that the ‘Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University’ will incur an expenditure of approximately Rs 900 crore.

Pradhan also highlighted significant growth in Ph.D. course registrations, with an 81 per cent increase from 2014-15 to 2021-22, totalling over two lakh registrations. Notably, women’s enrollment in Ph.D. courses surged by 106 per cent during the same period.

Emphasising the government’s commitment to filling vacancies in higher education institutes, Pradhan revealed that over 11 thousand posts out of 18 thousand vacant positions have been filled in the last two months. Additionally, he announced the government’s mandate for NAAC accreditations for all higher institutions.

The passage of the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023, reflects a significant stride towards providing accessible and quality education for the tribal population in India. (ANI)

KL Rahul Suniel Shetty

It Hurt Me 100 Times More: Suniel On How He Felt On KL Rahul Trolling

Opening up on his equations with his son-in-law, star India batter KL Rahul, actor Suniel Shetty said he shares a very healthy bond with him.

In a free-wheeling conversation with ANI, the actor, when asked if it hurts him when the cricketer, who has led India in both the red-ball and limited-overs formats, faced trolling on social media during his lean phase with the willow, said, “It hurts me more than probably it hurts Rahul.”

Shetty revealed that his son-in-law told him to stop reacting to all the negativity, saying, “He said ‘Dad my bat will talk’. And, it did.”

After battling indifferent form and failing to produce enough big runs with the bat, Rahul, returning from a long spell on the sidelines through injury, came into his own in the World Cup earlier this year.

Taking on his new role of a wicketkeeper-batsman as a duck takes to water, KL let his bat do the talking, emerging as the eighth-highest run-getter in the tournament with 452 runs in 11 matches at an average of 75.33 and a best innings of 102 against the Netherlands. Apart from the ton, he also had two half-centuries against his name in the tournament.

Despite returning from the long injury lay-off, Rahul showed sparkling form behind the wickets, making good collections and coming up with some spectacular catches across the tournament.

“The faith of the people in him, the selectors, the faith of the captain, it said it all. It hurt me 100 times more than it would have hurt Rahul, Athiya or anybody else. As parents, we go through even more than what the kids would go through,” the actor added.

Saying that he is an ardent admirer of Rahul’s batsmanship and one of his biggest cheerleaders, Shetty added, “I have always been a huge fan of his and loved watching him play. I have always loved Rahul for the way he plays. He may be my son but I am still his fan.”

The actor revealed further that he brings his superstitions to the fore whenever India plays, adding that he watched all of India’s World Cup matches in a room with his wife Mana Shetty.

The actor said he watched all of India’s matches sitting on the floor.

Also, weighing in on India’s World Cup campaign, Shetty said, “They were a masterclass in team spirit. For me, today Rohit Sharma is probably where Dhoni stands because everything that he (Rohit) did was selfless. It was for the team. All of them whether it’s Rohit, Shubhman, Surya or Virat coming back after so many years, you can’t ask for a better team. It was just one bad day in 45.”

India stormed into the final after going unbeaten in the league and knockout phases but came horribly unstuck against five-time champions Australia in the title clash.

Cricketer KL Rahul and Athiya exchanged vows on January 23, 2023, at Suniel’s farmhouse in Khandala.

The actor is known for his performances in films like ‘Mohra’, ‘Border’, ‘Dhadkan’, ‘Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar’, ‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, among others.

He will be next seen in the comedy ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ alongside Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Raveena Tandon. (ANI)

India-Canada Nijjar Trudeau

Trudeau: Need To Put A Chill On India

Amid the India-Canada standoff, the Canadian Prime Minister on Monday claimed that he had made public allegations against India in the killing of Hardeep Nijjar as there was a need to put a ‘chill on India’ in light of what was being reported in India, Canada-based CTV news reported. Trudeau was speaking to the Canadian press in a year-end interview on Monday.

Trudeau noted that he made the announcement on September 18 because he expected that information would be eventually leaked though the media. He asserted that he wanted Canadians to know the government was on top of the situation

“Too many Canadians were worried that they were vulnerable,” Trudeau said in the interview this week, adding the Sikh community in B.C. had been raising concerns since shortly after Nijjar was killed.

“We felt that all the quiet diplomacy and all the measures that we put in — and ensured that our security services put in to keep people safe in the community — needed a further level of deterrence, perhaps of saying publicly and loudly that we know, or we have credible reasons to believe, that the Indian government was behind this,” he said. “And therefore put a chill on them continuing or considering doing anything like this.”

The allegations made by the Canadian Prime Minister had been out rightly rejected by India’s Ministry of External Affairs which had dubbed them absurd and motivated.

According to CTV News, Truedau on Monday also claimed that the Indian government chose to attack and undermine them with misinformation after he had made the allegations public.

“They chose to attack us and undermine us with a scale of misinformation and disinformation in their media that was comical,” Trudeau said.

He added, “(It) would have been more comical had it not had real implications for people’s lives and relations between our two countries that are so deep in terms of people-to-people ties, and people depending on the flow of connections between us.”

In his year-end interview with the Canadian Prime Minister said the message he delivered in the House of Commons that day was intended as an extra “level of deterrence” to keep Canadians safer.

“We knew it would be difficult conversations, but we also knew that this was an important moment for India to be demonstrating its leadership on the world stage with the G20,” Trudeau said.

“And we felt that we could use that as a constructive opportunity to work together.”

CTV News reported that when asked whether he felt those talks were constructive, Trudeau was blunt: “No.”

Trudeau also said Canada had warned India that what it knew would eventually come out, and that while Ottawa had managed to keep things “on a diplomatic level” leading up to the G20 summit, it could not control much beyond that.

Trudeau also said he did not know whether it would come out through leaks, the public inquiry into foreign interference or because things had reached a threshold “in which we had a duty to protect Canadians” by going public.

Trudeau’s Sept. 18 announcement was met with immediate calls for evidence, not just from India, but also from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, who told Trudeau to “come clean.”

India’s Ministry of External Affairs which recently instituted an enquiry into inputs shared by the US related to the nexus of organised crime, trafficking in the context of an alleged murder attempt on a US national, maintains that Canada had given no evidence about its allegations and so the question of equitable treatment for the two countries does not arise.
