Pak Should Dismantle Terrorist Bases Including POK: UK MP Blackman

Calling upon Pakistan to dismantle terrorist bases, particularly those in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, United Kingdom MP Bob Blackman has said that Islamabad should listen to the International Monetary Fund to bring its economy in shape.

In an interview with ANI, Blackman said the way the United States left Afghanistan was a mistake and the Taliban has “extinguished” hard-won women’s rights.
“People who foster terrorism or state-sponsored terrorism, it is fundamentally wrong and we have got to counter that,” he said responding to a query about the threat of terrorism from Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“My personal view is that it was a mistake to withdraw from Afghanistan in the way we did. Obviously, the Americans made the key decision to withdraw their troops and it meant we had to follow, because we were not in a position to carry out the duties there by ourselves,” said Blackman, a ruling Conservative MP for Harrow East.

“We have seen once again Taliban takeover and slowly and gradually Taliban have extinguished the women’s rights that were hard won,” he said.

He said Afghanistan and Pakistan are part and parcel of the illegal drug trade that takes place. “We need to counter that as well.”

Noting that Pakistan’s economy is shot to pieces he said “my message to them is that you need to listen to what the IMF is advising you to do”.

“You bring your economy into shape. can’t go appealing to the world for money and support. You must put things right,” he said.

“And, the first duty is to say, look, where you have got terrorist bases, particularly in illegally occupied part of Kashmir, have those terrorist bases dismantled and then restore peace,” he added.

Bob Blackman has been the Conservative Member of Parliament for Harrow East since 2010. He was a Greater London Assembly member for Brent and Harrow for four years, after ousting the Labour Leader on the GLA in June 2004.

According to his website, Blackman was also a Councillor for the Preston Ward in Brent for 24 years, serving as leader of the Brent Conservatives from 1990 to 2010, before stepping down in order to stand as the Conservative candidate for Harrow East.

Asked about violence against the Indian community in Leicester in the UK in September last year and vandalization of premises and symbols of Hindu religion, the MP said “it was extremely regrettable and should not have happened”.

“The people responsible, a large number of them were arrested and dealt with appropriately,” he said.

Blackman said police took action to counter false propaganda but violence did take place.

He said over 99 per cent of the Muslim population in the UK are peaceful and peace-loving people.

“They want to go about their life, celebrate their religion of course. There is this very small minority that wants to cause trouble, they become terrorists, they may groom others, they may encourage people to be radicalised, and we have to counter that very aptly. One of the problems is how we do that.”

He said that there is a small population pro-Khalistan supporters who are promoting “not quite terrorism in UK but certainly disorder… and that has to be prevented as well”

He also talked of misuse of the internet and social media.

“Young people can be radicalised literally in their bedrooms, then they become radicalised, they have hatred placed in their minds of people who could be their neighbours just because of their religion. We have to counter that. We don’t understand the reason why people become radicalized, there are a number of hate preachers who wish to radicalise people,” he said.

Blackman said he represents Harrow which has people from every religion.

“I can probably take you to someone from every country in the world who lives in my constituency. Every language is spoken, every religion is celebrated and people live together in peace and harmony and I wouldn’t want it any other way. That demonstrates that we can have situations where people do cooperate together. It’s very important that different faith organisations come together, speak together, and if there are any concerns, any tensions they talk about them rather than resorting to demonstrations and causing trouble,” added Blackman to ANI. MP: 12 Cheetahs To Arrive Tomorrow

The Cheetah Project Chief of India SP Yadav on Friday said that arrangements are in place at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park for 12 African Cheetah being brought from South Africa to ensure that the big cats do not face any kind of disturbance.

“Close cameras have been installed and the big cats have been fitted with radio collars for live tracking. The quarantine enclosure we have made this time is better than the previous one,” SP Yadav said while speaking to ANI.
As many as 12 Cheetahs from South Africa will arrive on February 18 in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park after South Africa last month signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the re-introduction of Cheetahs in India to establish a viable cheetah population in the Asian country.

SP Yadav said that after bringing Cheetahs to Kuno National Park from South Africa all of their health will be tested and then they will be kept in quarantine for a Month. For this 10 quarantine boomers have been made which will be kept. Two Cheetahs each stay in two enclosures and the rest of the other cheetahs will be kept in separate quarantine boomers.

Cheetah experts from South Africa will also fly in a plane with those who will come to Gwalior.

“The cheetahs coming from two different reserves are kept in crates made according to international standards. Our experience of bringing cheetahs from Namibia helps a lot that’s why the whole exercise is going very smoothly,” he added.

Asking about the differences between Namibian Cheetah and South African Cheetah, Yadav told ANI that there is no difference in species between the cheetahs of Namibia and South Africa, but they are completely wild cheetahs of South Africa, whose character is wild.

Yadav, who is secretary of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NCTA), further told ANI that after the arrival of Cheetahs at Gwalior, there will be customs clearance, and other formalities as per international convention, and after that, all Cheetah will be loaded into an Air Force MI-17 helicopter that will take them to Kuno National Park. Earlier, eight cheetahs brought from Namibia were released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kuno National Park on the occasion of his birthday on September 17, 2022.

Radio collars have been installed in all the cheetahs and monitored through satellite. Apart from this, a dedicated monitoring team behind each cheetah keeps monitoring the location for 24 hours.

The MoU on the reintroduction of Cheetahs to India facilitates cooperation between the parties to establish a viable and secure cheetah population in India; promotes conservation and ensures that expertise is shared and exchanged, and capacity is built, to promote cheetah conservation.

Under the ambitious project of the Indian Government-Project Cheetah- the reintroduction of wild species particularly cheetahs is being undertaken as per the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) guidelines.

India has a long history of wildlife conservation. One of the most successful wildlife conservation ventures ‘Project Tiger’ which was initiated way back in 1972, has not only contributed to the conservation of tigers but also to the entire ecosystem.

In 1947-48, the last three cheetahs were hunted by the Maharaja of Korea in Chhattisgarh and the last cheetah was seen at the same time. In 1952 the Government of India declared Cheetahs extinct and since then Modi government has restored cheetahs after almost 75 years. (ANI)

3 Objects US Shot Down Were Not Likely To Be Spy Devices: Biden

The Intelligence Community has no indication that the three objects that were shot down in the past days were the surveillance craft from China, United States President Joe Biden said on Thursday.

Biden added that he expects to talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Delivering remarks on the United States’ response to recent aerial objects, Biden said, “The Intelligence Community’s current assessment is that these 3 objects were most likely balloons tied to private companies or research institutions studying weather or conducting other scientific research.”

The US shot down the giant balloon, which China claimed to be a civilian airship used for research mainly meteorological, on February 4 after it hovered over the country for a week.

“I want to be clear, we don’t have any evidence that there’s been a sudden increase in the number of objects in the sky. We’re now just seeing more of them partially because of the steps we’ve taken to increase our radars,” he added.

Biden further stated that all those 3 objects can be related to the Chinese spy balloon program or they were surveillance vehicles from any other country.

He suggested that he is not going to shoot down every weather balloon that the US sees but will watch out for future spy balloons.

“Make no mistake, if any object presents a threat to the safety, and security of the American people, I will take it down,” US President added.

Biden suggests the newest objects were not part of a foreign spying program. “The three objects are most likely balloons tied to private companies, recreation or research institutions, studying weather or conducting other scientific research,” he said.

The United States is not looking for a “new Cold War” with China. “We’ll also continue to engage with China, as we have through the past two weeks,” Biden said adding that US diplomats will stay in touch with Chinese counterparts, and he will speak at some point with Xi Jinping, China’s leader.

Biden also made clear that in the future the procedure for taking down unknown objects will be classified, but will be shared with Congress. Earlier, members of Congress were critical of the White House for not sharing more information about the Chinese spy balloon program more quickly. (ANI)
