Kiara Posts Picture of B’day Boy Sidharth Malhotra

As Sidharth Malhotra rang into his 38th birthday on Monday, the actor’s rumoured ladylove Kiara Advani wished the ‘birthday boy’ by sharing an adorable snap of them from one of their trips.

Adding more grist to their wedding speculations, Kiara took to her Instagram handle and posted a close-up picture of them locked in each other’s gaze, against a beautiful backdrop of the sunlight peaking between the clouds.

In the caption, she wrote, “Whatcha looking at birthday boy,” followed by emojis of a cake, monkey, and heart-eyes face among others.

Even though the pair has been tight-lipped about their rumoured relationship and their speculated upcoming nuptials, Kiara’s birthday post for Sidharth sparked hope among fans awaiting their marriage.

Another one wrote, “Soon to be Mr & Mrs Malhotra.”

Cong Jairam Ramesh Calls Ganga Vilas A Threat To Gangetic Dolphin

While inaugurating the world’s largest longest river cruise titled Ganga Vilas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it “a new age of tourism in India”, but on the other hand, Congress general secretary in charge communications Jairam Ramesh has termed the service “obscene”.

Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader said that the service would also endanger India’s national aquatic mammal.
“The river cruise on the Ganga unveiled by the PM is obscene! Who can afford Rs 50 lakh per night except the filthy rich? Ganga is still neither Nirmal nor Aviral. Now, this Tamasha will also endanger India’s national aquatic mammal — the Gangetic dolphin,” Jairam Ramesh wrote in his tweet.

The Ganga river cruise was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday from Varanasi.

The 51-day cruise, being pitched as the world’s longest river cruise, is expected to reach its final destination — Dibrugarh in Assam — on March 1.

“The beginning of the world’s longest river cruise service on river Ganga is a landmark moment. It will herald a new age of tourism in India,” Prime Minister Modi had said while flagging off the cruise virtually via video conference.

Set to sail from Varanasi, the cruise ship, MV Ganga Vilas, will cover 3,200 km over 51 days, crossing 27 river systems and several states before ending its journey at Dibrugarh. The voyage is packed with visits to 50 tourist spots, including World Heritage spots, national parks, river ghats, and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Guwahati in Assam.

The MV Ganga Vilas cruise is curated to bring out the best of the country to be showcased to the world.

The journey will allow the tourists to embark upon an experiential voyage and indulge in India and Bangladesh’s art, culture, history, and spirituality.

MV Ganga Vilas has three decks, 18 suites on board with a capacity of 36 tourists, with all the luxury amenities. The maiden voyage has 32 tourists from Switzerland signing up for the entire length of the journey. (ANI)

Modi Congratulates Agniveers On Being Pioneers Of Path-Breaking Scheme

Addressing the first batch of Agniveers of the three Services, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated them on being the “pioneers of the path-breaking Agnipath Scheme.”

The prime minister highlighted that this transformative policy will be a game changer in strengthening our Armed Forces and making them future-ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
Under the Agnipath scheme, announced on June 14 last year, the three services are

recruiting youths between the age bracket of 17-and-half years and 21 years for four years with a provision to retain 25 percent of them for 15 more years. For 2022, the upper age limit was extended to 23 years.

Addressing, through video conferencing, the first batch who have commenced their basic training, PM Modi affirmed that the young Agniveers will make the Armed Forces more youthful and tech-savvy.

Hailing the potential of Agniveers, he said that their spirit is reflective of the bravery of the armed forces which has always kept the flag of the nation flying high.

He said that the experience they will acquire through this opportunity will be a source of pride for life.

Prime Minister said, “New India is filled with renewed vigor, and efforts are underway to modernize our armed forces as well as make them Aatmanirbhar.”

He said that in the 21st century, the way wars are fought is changing. Discussing the new fronts of contactless warfare and challenges of cyber warfare, he said technologically-advanced soldiers will play a key role in our armed forces.

“The current generation of youth especially have this potential, and so the Agniveers will play a leading role in our armed forces in the times to come,” he said.

The prime minister also spoke about how the Agnipath scheme will further empower women. He expressed happiness at how women Agniveers are adding pride to the Naval forces and said that he looks forward to seeing women Agniveers in all three forces.

He also recalled how women are leading armed forces on various fronts, citing examples of women soldiers posted in Siachen and women driving modern fighter planes.

Modi said that getting posted in different regions will give Agniveers an opportunity to get diverse experiences and that they should try to learn different languages and also about different cultures and ways of living.

“Teamwork and honing of leadership skills will add a new dimension to their personality. He exhorted Agniveers to remain curious about learning new things while simultaneously working on bettering their skills in the fields of their choice,” the PM said.

Hailing the potential of the youth and Agniveers, Prime Minister concluded by saying that they are the ones who are going to provide leadership to the nation in the 21st century. (ANI)

I Am Aware Of The Issues Of Middle Class: Sitharaman

I Am Aware Of The Issues Of Middle Class: Sitharaman

Ahead of the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said she “identifies” herself as middle class and also understands the problems faced by that section of the people.

“I belong to a middle class and identify myself as a middle class so I can understand them. Modi govt has not levied any new tax on the middle class in any budget so far. No tax levied on people who earn a salary up to Rs 5 lakhs,” Sitharaman said, in an interaction with RSS publication ‘Panchjanya’ on the theme ‘Baat Bharat ki’ on Sunday.
These remarks came days before the Union Budget for 2023-24. The government is in the process of finalizing the Budget document to be presented on February 1.

“I can understand the pressures of the middle-class section of people. I identify myself with the middle class so I know. The government has ensured no new tax is imposed on them, launched metro services in 27 cities (for better mobility),” she said.

In addition, she noted that requisite funds were being released for the development of 100 smart cities, which she said will help people who migrate to big cities for business and employment.

“Will these initiatives not improve the standard of living? Yes, I have not directly transferred money into the pockets of the middle class but these facilities (are helping them),” she added.

Moreover, on the matter of freebies by political parties, she said parties should make provision in their Budget for the freebie they wish to promise, taking into account the financial condition of their state.

“The question is not what is a freebie? The question is whether the promises made by political parties before elections can be fulfilled considering the financial condition of the state. Political parties should allocate in their budget for the freebie they promise,” she said in Hindi.

Moreover, speaking about how India came out of Fragile 5 economies, she said India’s economy has undergone significant changes since 2014, which has led it now become the fastest-growing economy in the world.

The term Fragile 5 was coined by a Morgan Stanley analyst in 2013 and refers to a set of five emerging countries, including India, whose economy was not doing well then. The other four countries were Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, and Turkey.

“In 2013, India was among the ‘Fragile Five’ economies of the world. However, since Modi govt came to power in 2014, India’s economy has undergone significant changes that have led to it now being the fastest growing economy in the world,” she said.

The formal exercise to prepare the annual Budget for the next financial year commenced on October 10.

Budget 2023 is likely to be the last full budget of the Modi government in its second term with the next Lok Sabha elections due in April-May of 2024. (ANI)
