Rajya Sabha polls UP

RS Polls : BJP Wins 8, SP Bags 2 Seats In UP

As the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh won eight seats in Rajya Sabha polls while the Samajwadi Party managed to secure victories on two seats, State BJP MLC Mohsin Raza said that “Ye 8 nahi, 80 ki tayyari hai”.

The eight BJP candidates who secured victories are former Union Minister RPN Singh, former MP Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, Amarpal Maurya, Sangeeta Balwant , BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, former MLA Sadhna Singh, Naveen Jain and Sanjay Seth.

Jaya Bachchan and Ramji Lal Suman of Samajwadi Party also registered victories. Alok Ranjan, the third candidate fielded by the Samajwadi Party, suffered defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Hailing the outcome of the Rajya Sabha polls, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the impact of these results will continue to produce a positive impact on the party prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and also in the next State Assembly elections.

“We had been saying from the beginning that all 8 candidates of the BJP will win. All our 8 candidates have won today. I congratulate all the winning candidates. Two SP candidates have also won. So, congratulations to Akhilesh Yadav too. BJP’s vijay yatra that began in Rajya Sabha will continue in Lok Sabha and then go on till Vidhan Sabha elections and even further,” Deputy Chief Minister told ANI.

BJP leaders and workers raised slogans and celebrated in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh BJP MLC Mohsin Raza said that this is not just a victory on 8 seats but an indication of the party’s preparations for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the Uttar Pradesh.

“We knew that this would be the result. BJP was confident that we would win all 8 seats. I don’t understand why the Opposition was dejected because they did not have to win. Ye 8 nahi, 80 ki tayyari hai (Not eight, but our preparations on 80 seats). We are going to win 80 after this. We will win 400 in the Lok Sabha elections,” Mohsin Raza told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also felicitated all its eight BJP candidates who won the Rajya Sabha elections.

Responding to the allegations by Samajwadi Party leaders that “BJP is influencing other party leaders to cross-vote”, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday said that Bharatiya Janata Party does not influence any leader to leave their party adding that if anyone is involved in cross-voting then there might be a change of heart.

The remarks came after five Samajwadi Party MLAs met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after casting their vote for the Rajya Sabha election, there was speculation of them having cross-voted in favour of the BJP.

Speaking to ANI, Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “BJP does not influence anybody to change their party. If there is a change of heart, voting is done accordingly. I welcome that as well. BJP had the numbers already. People have voted in favour of BJP candidates for ‘Viksit Bharat'”

Samajwadi Party MLAs: Abhay Singh, Rakesh Singh, Rakesh Pandey, Vinod Chaturvedi, and Manoj Pandey met CM Yogi Adityanath in the Assembly Secretariat today.

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that disciplinary action would be taken against the MLAs if they had cross voted.

“Not everybody has the guts to stand against the government. Pressure is put on everybody, is there anyone who doesn’t know that BJP would go to any extent to win. BJP was dishonest during the Chandigarh elections also… When it comes to UP, BJP did everything to get votes and those who left, might not have had the guts to stand against the govt. Action will be taken because our party leaders want such people to be kept away from the party,” said Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The term for Rajya Sabha MPs is six years, and elections are held after every two years for 33 per cent of the seats. Currently, the Rajya Sabha has a strength of 245 members.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in the country, the outcome of the polls to the Rajya Sabha is likely to have an impact in the politically crucial state. (ANI)

BJP’s Preparations In Full Swing To Woo Farmers Through Gram Parikrama Yatra

The Bharatiya Janata Party is having an important dialogue with the farmers of 1.25 lakh villages across the country through the “Gram Parikrama Yatra” program. This program started on February 12 and will continue till March 12, the entire program will last for one month.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has made complete preparations to woo the farmers before the Lok Sabha elections and that is why it is continuously organizing various programs to communicate with the farmers.

The National President of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha, Rajkumar Chahar, said, “We are communicating with the farmers through Gaon Parikrama Yatra and Kisan Chaupal. Our objective is to take suggestions from the farmers and to know what they want from Modi ji so that the “Sankalp patra” will be prepared. These things can be added in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Could include him in Modi’s guarantee.”

The programs held across the country were broadcast on 900 screens, that is, by installing one screen in one district, the village parikrama yatra and Kisan Chaupal was telecasted live with the labourers and farmers.

Communication with the farmers has been done by distributing leaflets about the work done by the Modi government for the welfare of farmers and circling the village is being done under the Gram Parikrama yatra. Under Kisan Chaupal, to establish communication with the labourers and farmers, if there is any ex-serviceman or martyr’s family in the village and to honour those who are progressive farmers.

A Gram Parikrama Yatra started on February 12 in Sukh Teerth of Muzaffarnagar in Western Uttar Pradesh. In this journey, about 20,000 farmers participated in the first rally. The program was addressed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the program, BJP Kisan Morcha National President Rajkumar Chahar. Apart from BJP Uttar Pradesh chief president Bhupendra Yadav and Dharampal Singh, local leaders were present and dialogue was also held with the people of the village.

“There is no opposition of any kind anywhere in the Gaon Parikrama Yatra because of the work done by the Modi government in the last 10 years, ranging from the Kisan Fasal Yojana, Kisan Samman Nidhi, crop insurance, Kisan Rail Deep Irrigation, Nano Urea and its 50 per cent subsidy to 300 units for free. Farmers are very excited about electricity, and MSP is given on crops. Under Modi’s government, MSP has increased by 1.5 times and 2 times. We are reaching 1.25 lakh villages.” BJP Kisan Morcha National President Rajkumar Chahar said.

“MSP seems to be the main issue at the moment. There is a lot of purchasing on MSP on some crops in Punjab. MSP has continuously increased in production. Exports are also big and the government itself is continuously sitting in Chandigarh for talks. The solution will be found through talks. The government has been taking decisions in the interest of farmers earlier and will continue to take them in future also. Some issues need good discussion in the interest of farmers, like the issue of MSP” he added.

Rajkumar Chahar, told ANI that a Lebi movement had already taken place once in the country. The wheat purchasing centre is also called ‘Lebi’ in the local language.

“It was Indira Gandhi’s government when the farmers did the ‘Lebi Movement’ in Uttar Pradesh. Because the MSP rate was low and wheat was being sold in the market at one and a half times the expensive price, at that time Indira Gandhi’s government forcefully harassed the farmers and purchased it at cheap prices. The issue of MSP is the main issue and the government will not rush on it. Its conclusion will come only through meaningful discussion,” Rajkumar Chahar said. (ANI)

Tuesday accused Rekha Sharma

Trinamool Calls For Resignation Of Women’s Commission Chief

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Tuesday accused Rekha Sharma, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), of prioritizing her political allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the safety of women and children and demanded her immediate resignation.

In an official statement, the AITC claims that Sharma’s favouritism towards the BJP, which comes from her past job as a BJP district secretary, harms the trustworthiness of her current role and makes her important position look foolish.

“Rekha Sharma, transitioning from BJP district secretary to chairperson of NCW doesn’t erase your political bias. How can we trust someone who puts party interests above the safety of women and children? Your allegiance to BJP renders your position utterly unfair and disgraceful. How dare you prioritise party loyalty over the safety of women? Your shameless partiality makes a mockery of the prestigious role. Resign now and spare us from your partisan incompetence!,” AITC said.

Meanwhile, NCW Chief Rekha Sharma responded to TMC’s social media attack, saying she was grateful for no physical assault.

“Media is asking me for my reaction on TMC attacking me on social media and my reply is that I thank God for they not attacking me physically ( as they are habitual of doing that) as of now,” NCW Chief Rekha Sharma said in a post on ‘X’.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson, Rekha Sharma, is here in West Bengal to take stock of the Sandeshkhali incident met the West Bengal DGP on Tuesday.

“It is huge that the DGP met me. I have come to West Bengal for the 8th-9th time, and the DGP never meets… The DGP agreed that the police have lacked… We suggested that all the police officials there (in Sandeshkhali) should be changed. He took it seriously but then he received one or two phone calls, after which his attitude changed completely. He cut short the meeting. When we took Shah Jahan’s name, he did not like it. He (DGP) asked us how he can arrest Shah Jahan when there is nothing against him. He said that the ED should arrest Shah Jahan, not him. If there is nothing against him, then what will the police investigate… I think DGP’s hands are tied, he cannot do anything. We can imagine the pressure he is in… I think he is serious but how can he work under pressure” Rekha Sharma said after her meeting.

Earlier on Monday, after visiting West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, Rekha Sharma had demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The Sandeshkhali area has been witnessing unrest for over 10 days as women protestors are seeking justice against alleged atrocities committed by TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his aides.

Notably, the Supreme Court on Monday observed that the Calcutta High Court has taken cognisance of the matter relating to the alleged sexual assault of women living in village Sandeshkhali in West Bengal and refused to entertain a plea seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation or Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the issue.

A bench of justices BV Nagarathna and Augustine George Masih remarked that the plea seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation or Special Investigation Team (SIT) can be considered by the High Court.

The bench also noted that the High Court has already taken cognisance of the issue. After the top court wasn’t convinced by the petitioner, Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava withdrew the petition from the Supreme Court. However, the court granted liberty to the petitioner to approach the Calcutta HC with his prayer.

Meanwhile, a ‘peace home’ was opened at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on Monday to provide temporary refuge to the victims of Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district.

Speaking to ANI, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Governor CV Ananda Bose, Sandip Rajput, said on Monday that the idea of opening the peace home was initiated by Governor CV Anand Bose after his recent visit to Sandeshkhali.

Trinamool Congress leader Shibu Hazra, one of the associates of TMC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh, was arrested earlier in connection with the Sandeshkhali violence issue and was sent to police custody for eight days on Sunday. (ANI)

Sandeshkhali Incident Protest

BJP Workers Clash With Bengal Police Over Sandeshkhali Incident

A scuffle broke out between the police and Bharatiya Janata Party workers during the BJP’s protest in West Bengal’s Siliguri district on Thursday over the Sandeshkhali incident.

Women in Sandeshkhali have been agitating for the last few days over alleged atrocities committed against them by TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his aides.

Tension simmered in the Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas district’s Basirhat subdivision on Tuesday during a protest by BJP workers led by state party president Sukanta Majumder against the alleged sexual harassment of women.

Majumdar sustained injuries during the police lathi-charge as a scuffle broke out between the police and party workers.’

In connection with the violence, the BJP also formed a six-member committee of Union Ministers and MPs to visit Sandeshkhali in West Bengal’s North Pargana district and collect information about the alleged incidents of sexual harassment and violence against women there.

The West Bengal government has reimposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in and around 500 metres of area in seven-gram panchayats, including Sandeshkhali.

Sector 144 has been imposed in the area till February 19 to maintain law and order in view of the agitation by the BJP over allegations of sexual harassment by women in Sandeshkhali block.

The Trinamool Congress has, however, blamed the BJP for trying to vitiate the atmosphere in Sandeshkhali.”The only motive of the BJP was to create issues and indulge in hooliganism while going to Sandeshkhali or reaching near the place. Stone pelting ensued, and people were injured there. They (BJP) say that women must be respected…Smriti Irani made instigating statements. The TMC condemns the conduct of the BJP, under the leadership of Sukanta Majumdar,” TMC Spokesperson Sashi Panja said.

After listening to the grievances of women who have been protesting against the violence and sexual assault by the supporters of Trinamool Congress strongman Shajahan Sheikh, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) chairman Arun Haldar said that he will submit a report of the violence-hit Sandeshkhali area of West Bengal to President Droupadi Murmu on Friday at 11 am.

A delegation from the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) is in the violence-hit Sandeshkhali area of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district to assess the situation and listen to the victims as women have been protesting against the violence and sexual assault by supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).(ANI)

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday issued a three-line whip to all its MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, asking them to be present in the Parliament on Saturday as some important legislative business is to be discussed in both Houses.

“All BJP Members in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are hereby informed that some very important Legislative Business will be taken up for discussion and passing in the Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha on Saturday, February 10, 2024. All members of BJP in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are therefore requested to be positively present in the House throughout the day on Saturday, 10 February and support the Government stand,” the whips said, which is issued for Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha separately.

The White Paper said that the UPA government abandoned reforms after coming to power in 2004 and that it failed to build on the strong foundation laid by the previous BJP-led NDA government.

The White Paper said that there were scandals in defence that compromised defence preparedness and the government delayed the acquisition of weapons.

“In the UPA government, decision-making came to a standstill due to corruption and scandals in defence, compromising defence preparedness. The government delayed the acquisition of artillery and anti-aircraft guns, fighters, submarines, night fighting gear and a host of equipment upgrades,” the report said.

The White Paper also referred to the “coal scam”, saying the allocation of coal blocks was done on an “arbitrary basis”. (ANI)

Central Agencies Given Free Hand: PM

India Will Be 3rd Largest Economy In Our Third Term: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that the country will be the third-largest economy in the third term of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government.

PM Modi, while replying to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha, took a swipe at Congress, quoted the then Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, who presented the Interim Budget for 2014-15, saying that the grand old party was proud of being the 11th largest economy in 2014.

Emphasising that India will be the third largest economy in his third term, PM Modi quoted the then Finance Minister and said, “India was the 11th largest economy in 2014. Today, India is the 5th largest economy, and yet they (Congress) are silent… They saw a vision that India will be the third largest in 30 years. We will not allow the nation to wait for so long. It is Modi’s guarantee that in our third term, India will be the third largest economic power…”

“…On the basis of the experience of 10 years of governance, looking at today’s strong economy and the rapid speed with which India is progressing today, I can confidently say that in our third term, India will be the third largest economic power. This is Modi’s guarantee,” the PM added.

PM Modi also listed the achievements of his government in the last 10 years since 2014.

“We built 4 crore houses for the poor. For the urban poor, we built 80 lakh pucca houses. Had these been built at the speed of Congress…it would have taken 100 years to do this work. Five generations would have passed by then,” he said.

Listing the scrapping of the British-era penal codes, vision for developed India, the PM said, “Lord Ram has returned not only home, but to such a grand temple that it is definite that ‘Abki baar 400 paar’ (This time 400 plus). Even Kharge ji (Mallikarjun Kharge) is saying it. Not only will NDA win 400+ seats, BJP itself will win 300 seat”.

About sixty speakers took part in the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in Lok Sabha. The Budget Session commenced on January 31 and will conclude on February 9.

Modi also targeted the opposition parties, particularly Congress in his reply to the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address and said from “every word of their speech, I and the country are now convinced that they have resolved to sit for a long time in the opposition”.

“I really commend the resolution of the opposition. From every word of their speech, I and the country are now convinced that they have resolved to sit for a long time in opposition. The way you sat here (in government) for many decades, the same way you resolve to sit there (in opposition),” he said. (ANI)

Priyanka Chaturvedi BJP AAP

Tactics Are Being Used To Harass AAP Leaders: Priyanka

Stating that every possible tactic is being adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to harass the Aam Admi Party leaders, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Sunday said that BJP makes big claims about winning more than 400 seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls but on the contrary BJP knows the ground reality that it will be a tough task for them to cross the simple majority in the polls.

“All tactics are being used to harass the AAP leaders. On one hand, they (BJP) show confidence in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections that they will register victory on more than 400 seats however even they know the ground reality that won’t be able to cross 272 seats. INDIA bloc will put a strong fight. Earlier they sent ED, now they are using Delhi Police which comes under the Home Ministry. Actions of these agencies are influenced by sheer politics,” Priyanka Chaturvedi told ANI.

Earlier today, the Delhi Police Crime Branch served a fresh notice on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, asking him to respond to his charges of poaching attempts by the BJP with evidence by Monday.

The Crime Branch also served a notice on AAP leader and minister Atishi in the poaching claim case, asking her to respond within three days.

The sleuths from the Crime Branch were at Atishi’s residence to serve a notice on the Delhi Education Minister in connection with the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegation that the BJP was trying to poach its MLAs through hefty monetary inducements as part of ‘Operation Lotus 2.0’.

Atishi, earlier, claimed that the BJP approached several AAP MLAs with bribes and threats in a bid to get them on their side.

“BJP has launched ‘Operation Lotus 2.0’ and is trying to topple the democratically elected AAP government in Delhi. As many as 7 MLAs of the AAP have been contacted by the BJP and have been told that Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested soon after which rift and disunity will consume the party. They are in touch with 21 of our MLAs and they are planning to use them to topple our government. Those 7 MLAs have been offered Rs 25 crore each. They unleashed ‘Operation Lotus’ to come to power through the back door in states where they were not democratically elected. Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are examples,” the AAP leader said.

Meanwhile, after being served a summons by the Delhi Crime Branch on Saturday in connection with the poaching charge against the BJP, Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal accused the city police of resorting to a ‘drama’ at the behest of their ‘political masters’ instead of curbing the rising crime wave in the Capital. Nana Patole Attacks M'rashtra Govt Over Ulhasnagar Firing Incident

Nana Patole Attacks M’rashtra Govt Over Ulhasnagar Firing Incident

In a sharp attack on the Maharashtra government led by the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance over the Ulhasnagar firing incident, state Congress Chief Nana Patole said that the incident marks the beginning of ‘Jungle Raj’ in the state.

BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad allegedly opened fire at Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad at Hill Line Police Station in Ulhasnagar on Friday night, triggering sharp reactions from the opposition leaders of the state.

“There is no rule of law in Maharashtra. The law and order have utterly collapsed in the state. Consistent firing by the MLAs of the ruling party marks the beginning of ‘Jungle Raj'”, Patole said while speaking to ANI.

Hitting out at state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Congress leader said, “The Chief Minister is continuously pressurizing the state police, not letting them work. If there is an iota of ethics left in CM Shinde, he should immediately resign.”

Nana Patole further highlighted that the Congress party strongly condemns the incident.

“The Congress party strongly condemns the incident. It will be worth seeing what action is taken against Ganpat Gaikwad by the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP government. Daring to open fire on the police station premises shows how the power has completely taken over the BJP. What kind of Ram Rajya is this? Even the senior IPS officers are terrified,” Patole said.

“Earlier, Sada Sarvankar, an MLA from the ruling party, opened a fire during Ganeshotsava. But no action was taken against him. Rather, he later came to be appointed as the Chief of the Siddhivinayak Trust. Sunil Kamble, a BJP MLA assaulted a policeman, and escaped legal action. The MLA from the ruling party says that the police can do nothing wrong to them, because their ‘boss’ is sitting in the ‘Sagar Bungalow’,” he added.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis resides at Sagar Bungalow in Mumbai.

Former minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray lashed out at the BJP-led Maharashtra government while questioning the law and order situation in the state.

In a post on X, Thackeray reiterated his earlier ‘khoke sarkar’ (a government shrouded in corruption) remarks against Eknath Shinde’s dispensation in the state.

Thackeray outlined a series of incidents highlighting the deteriorating security situation under what he termed as the “BJP-sponsored khoke sarkar” (a government shrouded in corruption).

“Maharashtra was taken over by the BJP-sponsored Khoke Sarkar,” Thackeray said in his post.

He further alleged that the past two years witnessed a surge in riots sparked by fake WhatsApp messages, coupled with threats targeting businesses by criminal elements pointing it to be the current state of affairs in the state.

“In the past 2 years, many riots have been sparked off over fake WhatsApp messages. Goons have been threatening businesses,” the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said.

Thackeray questioned the safety of the citizens in the face of these alarming incidents.

“This is the current state of affairs in Maharashtra, unfortunately, under a highly incapable and shameless illegal CM,” Thackeray said.

“How will citizens feel safe under these criminals running the regime?,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut called for Chief Minister Ekhnath Shinde’s resignation following the firing incident.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also claimed that the BJP MLA who fired at the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MLA said that gangsters will continue to thrive in the state if Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stays in power.

Hitting out at the Eknath Shinde government, Raut also said that the way the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has become a den of goons, similar incidents can also take place at the CMO.

“Today, it happened at a Police station. The manner in which the CMO has become a den of goons, I fear that such incidents can take place even at the Mantralaya and CMO,” Raut said.

NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) National Spokesperson Clyde Crasto also criticised the state government claiming a failure of law and order.

Meanwhile, CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadanavis have ordered a high-level inquiry into the police station firing incident. A Crime Branch Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been formed to investigate the incident.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde also visited Jupiter Hospital in Thane to meet his party leader Mahesh Gaikwad who was shot by BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad yesterday in Ulhasnagar.

Mahesh Gaikwad and Rahul Patil who were critically injured at the firing incident, were been admitted to the Jupiter Hospital in Thane for treatment.

“Going by what has been found here, there was no question of (firing in) self-defence. The injured were sitting and watching the CCTV screen. There was no argument or provocation. But he (Ganpat Gaikwad) aimed and shot them,” Thane Additional CP Datta Shinde said.

“A total of ten rounds were fired in the Ulhasnagar incident. Six bullets were taken out of Mahesh Gaikwad’s body by the doctors,” the Additional CP said. (ANI)

India Will Become Third-Largest Economy During Our Third Term: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed confidence that the country will emerge as the third-largest economy in the world during the third straight term of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre.

The Prime Minister was addressing the Bharat Mobility Global Expo at Bharat Mandapam here in the national capital.

“It is certain that India will become the world’s third-largest economy during our third term. During the past 10 years, around 25 crore people have come out of poverty due to the efforts of the government. Today’s India is moving forward with the goal of making the country ‘developed’ by 2047. The mobility sector will play a huge role in the achievement of this goal,” PM Modi said.

“I have always said that this is the right time. This mantra sits well with the mobility sector. India is on the moon and is moving fast. This is the beginning of the golden era for the mobility sector. Today, the economy of the country is expanding rapidly,” he added.

The Prime Minister further said that the country has seen the emergence of a ‘new middle class’ with its own aspirations and hopes.

“There has emerged a new middle class in the country with its own aspirations and hopes. The income and threshold of the middle class have been expanded. These factors will ensure new heights in the mobility sector. Before 2014, there were 12 crore cars sold in India. Since 2014, there has been a sale of over 21 crore cars,” he said.

“Before 2014, there were 2,000 crore electric cars being sold annually. Now, there are around 12 lakh electric cars being sold on an annual basis. India has witnessed a 60pc rise in the number of passenger car sales. The sale of two-wheelers has also seen a 70pc rise in the number,” added the Prime Minister.

PM Narendra Modi further said, “There has been an unprecedented change in the mobility sector. Today’s India is relying on new policies, keeping in mind the future scenario. This vision is also reflected in the interim budget. However, we will present the full budget after the formation of a new government.”

Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 showcases India’s capabilities across the entire mobility and automotive value chains. The Expo will feature exhibitions, conferences, buyer-seller meets, state sessions, a road safety pavilion and also public-centric attractions like go-karting. (ANI)

There Are No Rifts In Our Family: Basant Soren

There Are No Rifts In Our Family: Basant Soren

Reacting to the remarks made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey that rifts are happening in the family of Chief Minister Hemant Soren over his wife’s (Kalpana Soren) candidature on becoming the next Jharkhand CM, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Basant Soren on Monday said that this is not the family of BJP MP where rifts keep on happening adding that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is united on all issues.

Basant Soren, who is also the brother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, said that any decision that will be taken will have the party’s and state’s welfare in mind.

In a telephonic conversation with ANI, JMM MLA from Dumka, Basant Soren said, “Our family is united. The decision which is good for the party and state’s welfare will be taken.”

When asked about Nishikant Dubey’s claim over the rift in his family, Basant Soren said,” Do you have any doubt that the family is not united? This is not Nishikant Dubey’s family but Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. These things (rift) happen in his family only. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is a united family.”

On allegations that Centre is harassing Hemant Soren due to his tribal status, Basant Soren said, “We are not saying this. People of Jharkhand are saying this. This is the public’s opinion.”

Earlier today, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey claimed that Dumka MLA Basant Soren and Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law Sita Soren are refusing to accept the proposal of Kalpana Soren becoming the next Jharkhand Chief Minister.

“According to the current information, MLA Sita Soren ji and MLA Basant Soren ji have refused to accept Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji’s wife Kalpana Soren ji or other MLAs as the Chief Minister. Both the MLAs are absent from the legislature party meeting being held in Ranchi,” Nishikant Dubey posted on X.

Earlier today, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a meeting with ministers of his ruling coalition amid allegations by the BJP that the JMM chief was “absconding” to avoid the Enforcement Directorate’s probe into an alleged land scam case.

The chief of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was seen coming out of his residence in Ranchi today ahead of the meeting.

Soren, in a letter to the Enforcement Directorate, said he would record his statement before the agency officials at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 31 at his residence in Ranchi. (ANI)
