Delhi: BJP’s NaMo Cyber Warriors To Take On AAP In MCD Polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be introducing NaMo Cyber Yoddha (NCY), an online volunteer campaign-cum-initiative ahead of the civic polls in Delhi.
According to BJP, NCY will be a platform for those who are not necessarily into politics but want to raise their voice on important issues. It will be volunteer-driven. Around 50,000 NaMo cyber warriors will be galvanized over a period of one month.

The party said thousands of people are influenced by the ideology of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mission of service, development and ‘sabka saath’.

Though BJP is preparing to launch the NaMo Cyber Yoddha campaign, the most important question is whether NCY helps the party to garner votes in its favor in MCD elections.

BJP national spokesperson and in-charge of Delhi’s social media and digital campaign Shehzad Poonawalla said, “NaMo Cyber Yoddha is an army of motivated volunteers that will help to expose the lies and wrongdoings of AAP government in Delhi and counter their campaign with facts and truth.”

Poonawalla further said NCY will be launched soon. Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly Rambir Bidhuri, Chief of Election Management Campaign Ashish Sood, Shahzad Poonawalla, and BJP MPs from Delhi will be present at the launch event.

In the run of municipal elections in Delhi, BJP and AAP have come face to face.

BJP has been accusing the Arvind Kejriwal government of being corrupt. BJP alleged that in the last 8 years, the AAP government has completely failed on every front and has been the most corrupt government in the history of Delhi.

“From liquor to hawala and bus to electricity subsidy – AAP is a government of scams. AAP runs propaganda and advertisement to hide its failures. There has been a 420 percent increase in spending. People understood the reality of their ‘world-class model’,” said Poonawalla.

The BJP leader said AAP claims a world-class education model but cannot name 10 new colleges.

“They cannot show the 7 new hospitals they were going to build. Yamuna river is getting polluted continuously and as a result, we have been denied the opportunity to perform Chhath puja on its ghats,” he said.

Poonawalla said the air quality in Delhi has been deteriorating but no action has been taken on stubble burning or pollution other than blaming Diwali and firecrackers.

Attacking the AAP further, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that “Various AAP leaders have targeted the Hindu faith. Hundreds of crores rupees have been spent on salaries of Waqfs and Imams to please a vote bank but no money spent on ASHA workers, teachers, and free coaching of SC/ST/OBC students.”

Now amid these allegations and counter-allegation politics, BJP’s Namo Cyber Yoddha campaign is believed to make the Delhi Municipal Corporation election more interesting.

Earlier this month, the total number of civic body polls’ wards in the national capital reduced from 272 to 250 following a notification issued by the Ministry of Home on Tuesday pertaining to the redrawing of wards of the Delhi civic body- Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

After the ‘delimitation’ of MCD wards by the central government, the total number of wards in the MCD will amount to 250 of which 42 are decided to be reserved.

Now after the final delimitation order is issued, elections are expected soon.

It is to be noted that before the amalgamation of corporations, there were a total of 272 wards comprising the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and East Delhi Municipal Corporation. North Delhi Municipal Corporation and South Delhi Municipal Corporation had 104 wards each, while East Delhi Municipal Corporation had 64 wards. But after the delimitation, now the number of wards has been reduced to 250.

Notably, AAP Delhi raised concerns that there is no equal distribution of population in the delimitation of wards. AAP leaders had also lodged their objection by meeting the state election officials.

Earlier, the Delhi Congress had questioned the reduction of wards from 272 to 250. The Delhi Congress had also alleged a conspiracy to reduce the representation of the Dalit community in this regard, as the reserved seats have been reduced from 46 to 42. (ANI)

Arvind and VK saxena meeting for DERC Chairperson

Delhi LG: Chhath Puja Only At Designated Ghats

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday approved Chhath Puja at designated ghats on the Yamuna and asked chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to ensure clean ghats and water for devotees.

The LG also cautioned Arvind Kejriwal against “misleading and pre-mature publicity.”
The Lieutenant Governor’s directives came in a reply to Kejriwal’s tweet in which he said that Puja could be held anywhere on the Yamuna.

The LG said the Chief Minister’s statement was creating confusion among people.

“The proposal to hold Chhath Puja approved by the LG was specific to designated Ghats – Kejriwal tweeted as if Puja could be held anywhere on the Yamuna, creating confusion amongst people,” the LG’s secretariat office said.

LG Saxena also directed the Revenue and Environment departments to ensure strict enforcement of the National Green Tribunal’s orders with regard to pollution in Yamuna.

On October 21 Delhi Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot told ANI that “Keeping in view the religious and spiritual beliefs and sentiments of lakhs of people from UP and Bihar living in Delhi, CM Kejriwal has approved my proposal to allow the celebration of Chatth Puja at different Ghats along the Yamuna River.”

He further said that the government is geared to provide facilities to the devotees at around 1,100 Ghats.

“Delhi Government has always facilitated the occasion by providing various facilities in the form of construction of Ghats, ensuring cleanliness around the places where offerings are to be made by the devotees, etc. This year too, the administration is all geared up to provide the facilities to the devotees at around 1,100 Ghats,” the minister had said.

During the Chhath festival that will be celebrated between October 28-31 this year, people worship the Sun God.

Chhath Puja is one of the most auspicious festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The four-day-long festival starts with the ‘Nahai Khai’ ritual and ends with ‘Usha Arghya’ (prayers to the rising sun).

The festival is dedicated to Surya Bhagwaan (Sun God), which people believe sustains life on Earth. (ANI)

Airtel Launches 5G Services In Pune | Lokmarg

Reliance Jio Formally Launches 5G Services

Reliance Jio 5G is here. As announced two months back, the telecom operator on Saturday has finally launched the new-age high-speed services in the country.

Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani has launched the services in Rajasthan from the famous Shrinathji temple in Rajsamand.
This year, it aims to launch 5G services in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

The telecom operator intends to expand its 5G network to each and every town, tehsil, and talukas across the country by December of 2023, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said on August 29 while announcing the 5G launch in India.

Earlier this year, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani resigned from the board of Reliance Jio, thereby handing over reigns to his elder son Akash Ambani.

Meanwhile, Jio will deploy the latest version of 5G called standalone 5G. It is estimated to invest Rs 2 lakh crore in 5G infrastructure.

Launched six years ago, Jio has created multiple world records during its rollout of the largest 4G network in the shortest period of time. Jio’s 4G network provides the highest quality, most affordable digital services to over 400 million loyal and delighted customers. Jio is expected to now raise the bar even further with its 5G services.

Reliance Jio Infocomm has acquired spectrum in 700MHz, 800MHz, 1800MHz, 3300MHz, and 26GHz bands in the recently-concluded 5G auctions conducted by the Department of Telecommunications, where the government received around Rs 1.5 lakh worth of bids. Reliance Jio, Adani group, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea were the four major participants in the spectrum auction.

Following the spectrum auction, the government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers in mid-August while asking them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services.

The Department of Telecom and the Ministry of Information Technology have been pushing the mobile phone makers and telecom operators for the updation of 5G-related software in the devices and putting in place the requisite infrastructure for faster rollout of the new-age telecom services.

About 5G:

5G is the fifth-generation mobile network capable of transmitting a large set of data at a very rapid speed.

In comparison to 3G and 4G, 5G has a very low latency which will enhance user experiences in various sectors. Low latency describes the efficiency of processing a very high volume of data messages with a minimal delay.

The large-scale 5G rollout is also expected to bring more development in remote data monitoring sectors such as mining, warehousing, telemedicine, and manufacturing, among others. (ANI)

Manish Sisodia

Sisodia Leaves CBI HQ After 9 Hrs, Claims Was Asked To Quit AAP

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia left the CBI headquarters in the national capital on Monday after nine hours of questioning in the excise policy case.

He was summoned by the Central agency following which the Aam Aadmi Party took out a rally in support of Manish Sisodia on the way to CBI headquarters earlier today.
Speaking to the media at his residence, Sisodia alleged that the case against him was intended not to probe any scam but to “make Operation Lotus successful in Delhi”.

“Today I saw in the CBI office that there’s no issue of any scam (excise policy case). The whole case is fake. I understood all that in the 9 hour-questioning today. The case isn’t to probe any scam against me, but to make Operation Lotus successful in Delhi,” he alleged.

Sisodia further claimed that he was asked inside the CBI office to leave AAP and said that he was offered to be made the Chief Minister.

“I was asked inside the CBI office to leave (AAP), or else such cases will keep getting registered against me. I was told ‘Satyendar Jain ke upar konse sachhe cases hain?’…I said I won’t leave AAP for BJP. They said they’ll make me CM,” he alleged.

According to a CBI official, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister has not been summoned tomorrow, however, he could be summoned again later.

“CBI will evaluate the answers given by (Delhi Dy CM) Manish Sisodia and if needed, he will be summoned again later. No summons to Sisodia for tomorrow,” a CBI official said.

Sisodia had arrived for questioning earlier today amid the allegations by the party of his possible arrest in the case.

Addressing the workers of the party before going to the agency headquarter, Sisodia had called upon AAP workers to “feel proud if he is sent to jail”.

“They are preparing to send me to jail. CBI raided my residence but nothing was found. Don’t feel sorry if I am sent to jail, feel proud,” he said.

Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal linked Sisodia’s summons to the Gujarat Assembly elections later this year and alleged that his Deputy Chief Minister would be arrested.

“Nothing was found in Manish’s house raid, nothing was found in the bank locker. The case against them is completely false. He had to go to Gujarat for the election campaign. Arresting him to stop him from going. But the election campaign will not stop. Every person in Gujarat is promoting AAP today,” Kejriwal tweeted this morning.

On Sunday, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that Sisodia “will be arrested”.

He also tried to draw parallels between the CBI summoning Sisodia with the upcoming Gujarat election. “CBI has summoned Manish Sisodia and will arrest him tomorrow. It has been alleged that a huge scam of Rs 10,000 crore has taken place and for that CBI and ED (Enforcement Directorate) have raided at at least 500 places so far. CBI raided Sisodia’s residence for 14 hours, but they could not find anything,” said AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj.

“This is directly linked with Gujarat elections as AAP competes with the BJP there and hence is scared. Manish Sisodia will be arrested to stop his programmes but the AAP will only grow stronger,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJP lashed out at the AAP for the show of strength in the rally and called it a “celebration of corruption”.

“When Rahul Gandhi was summoned by ED, then also Congress started doing drama like this. It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is a celebration of corruption. First, they did corruption while giving liquor licences in Delhi and now they are doing all this drama,” Patra said.

“The way Manish Sisodia was raising slogans in an open car on the streets along with his supporters today, it seems as if Aam Aadmi Party has won the World Cup of corruption. Arvind Kejriwal was a part of Anna Hazare’s Andolan and used to say that he will finish corruption, but now it seems AAP has itself become the most corrupt party in the country,” Patra further said. Delhi: Sales See Rise In Festival Season After 2-year Gap

With the festive season inching closer and COVID restrictions in abeyance, sales saw a rise as markets in the national capital opened fully after a gap of two years due to the pandemic.

A crowd of people can be seen on the streets of the national capital, especially in markets for shopping for the upcoming festive season which includes festivals like Diwali. Dussehra was celebrated recently.

Chandni Chowk in Delhi is once again a witness to shopkeepers opening their shops without any restrictions and the customers thronging their shops in large numbers to get new clothes.

Expressing their ecstasy over the full-fledged business after a long time, the shopkeepers said that their sales have been boosted by nearly 200 percent compared to during the pandemic.

Speaking to ANI, a local shopkeeper said, “Business is going well with festivals around. Rush increased, sales boosted by almost 200 percent as compared to the pandemic.”

Some of the shopkeepers and wholesalers said that their business is doing well with the regular arrival of customers these days at the shop.

“During the festive season, our business ran very well. Our business was boosted by 200 percent from the pandemic. All going well nowadays. Customers come regularly but a few of them only do bargaining and go. We don’t know the reason. Despite all of that, our sales increased after the pandemic because the number of buyers in the market has increased,” said a shopkeeper.

A customer from Jabalpur said that she was happy with the reopening of markets and had come all the way to Delhi for shopping.

“I heard about Chandi Chowk and today I saw the reason why. I purchased a Lehenga here. The quality is very good. The same quality and brand, if I had purchased from some other place, it would cost nearly Rs 2 lakh, but we purchased it here for only Rs 30,000,” she said.

Another first-time visitor who came from West Bengal’s Murshidabad said that the items are cheap in the market and their quality is satisfactory. (ANI)

Sukesh and Jacqueline Fernandez

CBI Files Chargesheet Against Conman Sukesh In Impersonation Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday filed a charge sheet against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his associate in a fraud case instituted in 2019.

CBI has submitted a charge sheet against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and Sanjay Jain alias Sanjay Chicken, residents of Punjabi Bagh, Delhi, before CJM, Chengalpattu of Kancheepuram District in Tamil Nadu.

CBI had registered a case in May 2020 on the orders Supreme Court of India and took over the investigation of an FIR registered in 2019, earlier registered at police station DCB, Tiruvallur, Chennai (Tamilnadu) against an accused.

During the investigation, the role of both the said accused emerged. The accused had allegedly conspired to cheat by impersonation using digital devices. One of the accused had allegedly committed the offence while being in custody parole during October 2019 and also impersonated many Senior officers of the Government of India by using call spoofing techniques and made phone calls to various persons, who were facing criminal cases by different investigating agencies.

It was further alleged that he had extorted huge sums of amounts as bribes from them in the guise of settling their cases and misappropriated the money so collected for his personal use.

The other accused resident of Punjabi Bagh, Delhi was in regular contact with the said accused and used to handle his legal matters by arranging lawyers, dealing his parole matter, etc.

The investigation has also revealed that Income Tax Department had conducted raids on the premises of different organizations and individuals including one organization having a temple at Varadaiahpalem, District Tirupati (AP), and other related organizations during October 2019.

The said accused contacted one of the persons handling operations of the organization by impersonating himself as the then Law Secretary, Government of India, and allegedly pressurized them to pay Rs. 7.50 Crore. He had made ‘Spoofed Calls’ to representatives of the said Group which promoted the said organization, showing calling numbers as landline numbers of higher government functionaries, which were actually originated from outside India.

The accused had also obtained foreign numbers and used them for the collection of Rs 2 crore from Mumbai.

CBI had taken custody of the accused. One of the accused (impersonator) is presently in judicial custody. (ANI)

ED Raids Nearly 3 Dozen Locations In Delhi, Punjab

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out searches at nearly three dozen locations in Delhi and Punjab in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 case.

The raids were conducted days after the Central agency arrested Sameer Mahendru, Managing Director of Delhi’s Jor Bagh-based liquor distributor Indospirit Group, in the case.
Among the accused in the case is Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the then Excise Commissioner Arva Gopi Krishna, Deputy Commissioner Anand Tiwari and Assistant Commissioner Pankaj Bhatnagar.

Other accused are Manoj Rai, a former employee of Pernod Ricard; Amandeep Dhal, director of Brindco Sales; director of Buddy Retail Amit Arora, and Dinesh Arora; authorised signatories of Mahadev Liquors Sunny Marwah, Arun Ramchandra Pillai and Arjun Pandey.

The ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the Excise Policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, the licence fee was waived or reduced and the L-1 licence was extended without the competent authority’s approval. The beneficiaries diverted “illegal” gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection.

As alleged, the Excise Department had decided to refund the Earnest Money Deposit of about Rs 30 crore to a successful tenderer against the set rules. Even though there was no enabling provision, a waiver on tendered licence fees was allowed from December 28, 2021, to January 27, 2022, due to COVID-19.

This allegedly caused a loss of Rs 144.36 crore to the exchequer, said the FIR, which has been instituted on a reference from the Union Home Ministry following a recommendation from Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. (ANI)
