Azam Khan Convicted For Hate Speech Against Yogi

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was on Thursday convicted by a court in Uttar Pradesh in a hate speech case filed against him over his comments against state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The Rampur court today convicted the Samajwadi Party’s senior leader and is expected to pronounce the quantum of the sentence at 3 pm today.
A case was registered against Khan in Rampur in April 2019, for allegedly making provocative remarks against the Uttar Pradesh CM and the then District Magistrate of Rampur, Anjaneya Kumar Singh.

Six Children Drown In Pond After Heavy Rain In Gurugram

Six children drowned in a village pond in Gurugram on Sunday which was filled after incessant rains.

District Magistrate Nishant Yadav informed ANI that the bodies of all six children have been recovered from the pond.
“The bodies of all the six children have been recovered. Al the children were aged between 8-13 years. We are making announcements in the local area to inform us if any other child is missing. If needed, we will comb the pond again or drain it,” the DM said.

Earlier today, Deepak Saharan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West, informed ANI that the pond got filled with water after the incessant rains.

“A pond in the village got filled with water during the incessant rains. We have found the clothes of six children here. The body of one has been recovered and sent to the hospital. Teams are still looking for others in the water,” the DCP said. (ANI)

Delhi Govt To Organise Chhath Puja At 1100 Sites With ₹25-Cr Budget

Delhi government will organize Chhath Puja at 1100 ghats this year for which the government has approved a budget of ₹25 crores to facilitate lakhs of devotees in offering their prayers on Chhath.

Delhi Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot on Friday held a review meeting on the preparedness of Chhath Puja in the national capital.

The meeting was attended by Burari MLA Sanjiv Jha, the Divisional Commissioner, and all the District Magistrates of Delhi.

During the meeting, the Revenue Minister directed the department to ensure that the devotees should not face any inconvenience.

He also directed the officers concerned to ensure smooth management and operationalization of all the 1100 sites of the Chhath Puja Celebration in Delhi. For this government has approved 25 crores this year to facilitate lakhs of devotees in offering their prayers on Chhath.

In Delhi, the Revenue Department is the nodal department for the celebration of Chhath Puja in a safe, secure, and eco-friendly manner with full festivity.

The Revenue Department will make the necessary arrangements for tent and electrical items; such as tents, chairs, tables, lighting, sound system, CCTV, LED screens, power backup, and so on at all the 1100 Puja sites.

Furthermore, the Revenue Department will ensure the provision for the other required facilities in coordination with other departments of the Delhi Government such as the Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for clean water arrangements, Health Department for primary health services and deployment of Ambulances, DUSIB for Mobile Toilet Vans (MTVs) and with agencies such as Delhi Police and CDV for safety and security, Traffic Police for Traffic Management and MCD/NDMC for sanitation and cleanliness.

The Delhi Government has grown the celebration of Chhath Puja from 69 sites in 2014 to a whopping 1100 sites and increased the budget ten times from 2.5 crores in 2014 to approx. 25 Crore this year to facilitate lakhs of devotees in offering their prayers on Chhath.

In a statement, Revenue Minister of Delhi Kailash Gahlot said, ”We are committed to ensuring a grand celebration of Chhath Puja in Delhi. This year, the scale of the celebration would be unprecedented. We are ready with appropriate arrangements to ensure smooth execution in a safe and secure manner all over Delhi.”

Chhath Puja is one of the most auspicious festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The festival is dedicated to Surya Bhagwaan (Sun God), which people believe sustains life on Earth. (ANI)

Durga Puja Pandal Fire In UP’s Bhadohi: 5 Dead

Five people, including three children, have so far died after a fire broke out at a Durga Puja pandal in Uttar Pradesh’s, Bhadoi district, police said on Monday.

The fire broke out on Sunday in the Aurai town at the pandal during the Aarti session to mark the Saptami or the seventh day of Navratri festivities.
Bhadohi DM, Gaurang Rathi said today, “The death toll in the Bhadohi Durga Puja pandal fire incident has risen to five. Three children and two women have died.”

Of the five deceased, three people – one Jai Devi and her two grandchildren- belonged to the same family, which has left the family in a state of shock.

Jai Devi’s husband said, “Along with my wife, three of her daughters-in-law and two grandchildren had gone to the pandal. While the woman and one of the children died in hospital, one more child died today morning at home”.

Earlier on Monday, it was reported that three people had died in the incident.

“The death toll has reached three in the Bhadohi Durga Puja pandal matter. A 12-year-old boy, a 10-year-old boy, and a 45-year-old woman died in the incident, “the DM said.” “

On Sunday night, the Bhadohi SP, Anil Kumar informed about the incident saying that the fire broke at the time of aarti.

“At around 9 pm, a fire broke out at Durga Puja pandal in Bhadohi as it was the time of aarti. Around 10-15 people were injured and were immediately rushed to the hospital,” the SP said.

Gaurang Rathi, the Bhadohi DM informed that the incident happened prime facie because of a short circuit.

“Around 150 people were present during the Durga Puja aarti when the fire broke out. 52 people were admitted to different hospitals. People having 30–40 percent burns have been admitted to trauma centers and every patient is stable. Prime facie, the incident happened due to a short circuit, further probe is on,” the DM said late Sunday night. (ANI)

Kanpur Road Accident toll

UP: Death Toll In Kanpur Road Accident Rises To 26

The death toll in the Kanpur road accident in Uttar Pradesh, where a tractor trolley carrying pilgrims overturned, rose to 26 on Saturday.

The incident took place in the Ghatampur area of Kanpur district on late Saturday evening.

The tractor trolley carrying devotees was returning from Unnao. Following the accident, the police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation along with the locals.

The injured were sent to the community health center immediately for treatment. Five injured people have been referred to Kanpur Hallet Hospital.

“A total of 26 people have lost their lives and others are injured. The pilgrims were returning from the Chandika Devi temple in Fatehpura. The injured people have been sent to Hallet hospital. The investigation is underway. “Rescue work has been completed,” said Vishak G Iyer, District Magistrate, Kanpur.

Further details into the matter are awaited.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next kin of each of the deceased while the injured would be given Rs 50,000, said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

“Distressed by the tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. Prayers with the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected,” tweeted the PMO.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the senior officers have been instructed to reach the spot immediately.

“The road accident in Kanpur district is very heart-wrenching. The District Magistrate and other senior officers have been directed to reach the spot immediately and conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing and make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured,” tweeted CM Yogi.

“The loss of life in this accident is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved family. “Praying to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed souls a place at his feet and the families of the dead to bear this unfathomable loss,” he added. (ANI)
