follow-on public

Shares Of Adani Enterprises Nosedive 27% On Wednesday

Shares of Adani Enterprises nosedived sharply on Wednesday, a day after its follow-on public offer closed for the subscription.

The shares of Adani Group flagship company closed at Rs 2,179.75 with a sharp decline of 26.70 per cent.
Its intraday low was Rs 1,941.2, over 30 per cent lower than Tuesday’s settlement price.

On Tuesday, the last day for subscription, the follow-on public offer (FPO) issued by Adani Enterprises was fully subscribed.

A follow-on public offering (FPO) is the issuance of shares to investors by a company listed on a stock exchange after its initial public offerings.

Data showed the demand for the FPO was led by non-institutional investors, and they subscribed to the shares 3.26 times. The portion for institutional investors was also oversubscribed.

On Monday, an Abu Dhabi-based diversified conglomerate International Holding Company announced that it will invest about USD 400 million (AED 1.4 billion) into the Adani Enterprises’ follow-on public offer (FPO) through its subsidiary Green Transmission Investment Holding RSC Limited.

Adani Enterprises had filed a red herring prospectus with the markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for the Rs 20,000 crore follow-on public offer (FPO), the largest ever in India.

There were concerns that the FPO may not receive a strong response from investors amid a report by a US-based Hindenburg Research that surfaced on January 24, which claimed the Adani Group of having weak business fundamentals among others.

The US-based firm, in its report, raised concerns about shares of Adani group companies having a possibility of declining from their current levels, owing to high valuations. In response, Adani Group on Sunday said the recent report by Hindenburg Research was not an attack on any specific company but a “calculated attack” on India, its growth story, and ambitions. It added the report was “nothing but a lie”. (ANI)

President Droupadi Murmu

India’s 2023-24 GDP Growth In Real Terms Projected At 6.5%

The Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday tabled the Economic Survey for the Financial Year 2022-23, after the President’s address, on the first day of the Union Budget Session 2023-24.

The Economic Survey said that India’s economic recovery from the Covid pandemic is complete and the economy is expected to grow in the range of 6 percent to 6.8 percent in the coming financial year 2023-24. This is in comparison to 7 percent this fiscal and 8.7 percent in 2021-22.
Chief Economic Advisor Dr. V Anantha Nageswaran in a press conference in the national capital said that the India Monetary Fund (IMF) in its World Economic Outlook Update, has maintained India’s GDP forecast for the current Fiscal Year at 6.8 percent, the next Fiscal Year at 6.1 percent and for 2024-25 at 6.8 percent.

India’s economy is poised to do better in the remainder of this decade, the CEA said.

The Economic Survey document said the growth projection is broadly comparable to the estimates provided by multilateral agencies such as the World Bank, the IMF, the Asian Development Bank, and the Reserve Bank of India.

“The actual outcome for real GDP growth will probably lie in the range of 6.0 percent to 6.8 percent, depending on the trajectory of economic and political developments globally,” the survey read.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today tabled the Economic Survey for 2022-23 in the Parliament, a day ahead of the national Budget for the next financial year.

The Budget session of Parliament began today with an address from President Droupadi Murmu of the joint sitting of the two houses of Parliament.

The Economic Survey said that India remains the fastest-growing major economy in the world

GDP in nominal terms has been projected at 11 percent in the next fiscal.

Meanwhile, RBI projects 6.8 percent inflation this fiscal outside the upper target limit, which the Economic Survey says is “not high enough to deter private consumption, also not too low to weaken inducement to invest.”

A return of migrant workers to construction activities helped the housing market witnessed a significant decline in inventory overhang to 33 months in Q3 of FY 23 from 42 months last year.

A surge in the growth of exports in FY22 and the first half of FY23 induced a shift in the gears of the production process from mild acceleration to cruise mode.

Private Consumption as a percentage of GDP stood at 58.4 percent in the second quarter OF FY23, the highest among the second quarters of all the years since 2013-14 supported by a rebound in contact-intensive services such as trade, hotel, and transport survey points to the lower forecast for growth in global trade by the World Trade Organisation from 3.5 percent in 2022 to 1.0 percent in 2023

The Economic Survey document, formulated under the supervision of the chief economic adviser V Anantha Nageswaran, provides insights into the state of the economy and various indicators in the current financial year 2022-23 (April-March) and the outlook for the next year.

The Economy Survey may also give some idea about the tone and texture of the actual Budget for 2023-24, to be presented tomorrow.

Budget 2023 is likely to be the last full Budget of the Modi government in its second term with the next Lok Sabha election due in April-May of 2024. Like the previous two Union Budgets, Union Budget 2023-24 will also be delivered in paperless form. (ANI)

winning the first-ever ICC Under-19

Modi Congratulates U-19 Indian Women’s Team For Winning ICC T20 World Cup

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for winning the first-ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday.

India became the first-ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup winners on Sunday, after a comprehensive, seven-wicket victory over England in Potchefstroom.
“They have played excellent cricket and their success will inspire several upcoming cricketers. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours,” tweets PM Modi.

It was another clinical display with the ball that held the key to India’s march to victory, with Titas Sadhu setting the pace, with the spinners delivering another telling performance when it mattered.

Supplementing the fine bowling was outstanding fielding. The dismissal of England’s captain, Grace Scrivens, epitomised the sheer determination in the Indian ranks. The left-hander hit Archana towards long-off, where Gongadi Trisha sprinted in, then leapt forward to take an excellent, tumbling catch.

It was the key wicket, in many ways, and the celebrations from India confirmed as much. Scrivens would go on to scoop the Player of the Tournament award, but she would have given all of that up for a better English display with the bat.

Shafali Verma won the toss and elected to bowl, and Sadhu struck yet again in the first over. She hurried one onto Liberty Heap, who could only loop her attempted pull straight up and back to a gleeful Sadhu.

Her figures of two for 6 in four overs deservedly earned her the Player of the Match award with just the start that India craved. She was backed up well by Archana (two for 17) and the irrepressible Parshavi Chopra, who snared two for 13 to close out a terrific tournament offering.

There were also wickets apiece for Mannat Kashyap, Verma and Sonam Yadav, as England tumbled to 22 for four and then eventually 68 all out in 17.1 overs. After a tournament of free-scoring, only Ryana Macdonald-Gay (19 off 24 balls), Niamh Holland (10) and Sophia Smale (11) could reach double figures.

England’s hopes for more heroics with the ball were raised when they removed Verma (15) and Shweta Sehrawat (5) inside the first four overs. Verma hit a four and a six as she tried to put the heat on England early before she top-edged Hannah Baker to short fine-leg.

Soumya Tiwari and Trisha were having none of it. Tiwari smacked three fours in her 24 not out from 37 balls, while Trisha got more and more fluent as the target came into sight. Her 29-ball stay was ended on 24, bowled by Alexa Stonehouse as she tried to finish it off in style. (ANI)

Shah Appeals to democratic process

Shah Appeals Haryana To Vote For BJP In 2024 LS Polls

Launching the campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Haryana’s Sonipat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed people of the state to vote for the BJP to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for the third term on the basis of the development done by the Modi government in the last eight years.

Shah’s public rally in Gohana city in the Sonipat district of Haryana has been cancelled due to bad weather conditions as his chopper did not get permission to take off and land due to bad weather conditions following which his programme was cancelled.
He, however, briefly addressed the gathering over the phone, appealing the people of Haryana to vote for the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to again make Narendra Modi the Prime Minster of the country.

“All of us together will work to make Narender Modi ji as Prime Minister again. I am confident that the lotus of BJP will bloom at every Lok Sabha seat.”

Taking dig at the previous Congress government, Shah said that in last eight years so much development has taken place in Haryana which could not have happened in 70 years.

“You have witnessed so much development in Haryana during the past eight years. The corruption has reduced in every sector, law and order has improved and castism has ended. In eight years so much development has taken place in Haryana which could not have happened in 70 years. Now education sarpanches are taking Haryana forward.”

Speaking to the people at the rally, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that Shah could not come as his helicopter was not given permission to take-off due to bad weather.

Khattar said that Shah wanted to come by road but since it would have taken two hours, he suggested to the Union minister to address the gathering over the phone.

“I wanted to meet you all in this rally, but due to bad weather, permission for helicopter take-off was not given,” said Shah.

The Union Home said he could not come to Gohana today but in near future, he will come to meet the Haryana people.

“I wanted to come via road in a car, but the weather over there is also inclement with the possibility of more rain. Manohar ji requested that I should speak to you all over the phone,” he added.

Shah also promised people that he will soon visit Gohana. (ANI)

Digital Payments Ecosystem Transformed Governance: Modi

Ramsar Sites In Country Increased Nearly Three Times Since 2014: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday underlined that the number of Ramsar sites in the country has increased to 75, which is close to thrice of what India had in 2014.

Addressing the 97th edition of the Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday, PM Modi said that wetlands in any country have to fulfil certain criteria, then only they can be declared as Ramsar sites.
He said that the number of Ramsar sites in the country has increased to 75 which was earlier only 26 till 2014.

“Wetlands may be there in any country, but they have to fulfil many criteria, then only they can be declared as Ramsar Sites. Now the total number of Ramsar Sites in our country has increased to 75, whereas, before 2014 there were only 26 Ramsar Sites in the country,” PM Modi said.

Wetlands are the places where water remains accumulated throughout the year on marshy soil-like land.

“We have been continuously talking about India’s concrete efforts in the direction of climate change and conservation of biodiversity. A few days later, on February 2, it is World Wetlands Day. They are very important for the existence of our earth because many birds and animals are dependent on them for their survival,” PM Modi said.

He said that most of the world’s Ramsar sites have a unique cultural heritage.

Ramsar Sites are wetlands of international importance designated under the criteria of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands for containing representative, rare or unique wetland types or for their importance in conserving biological diversity.

PM Modi said that the increased number of Ramsar sites is also a tribute to the country’s age-old culture and tradition of living in harmony with nature. He cited the example of the culture of Manipur, which has a deep connection with Loktak and the sacred lake Renuka. He also mentioned Chilika Lake in Odisha which is known for sheltering more than 40 Water Bird Species.

“Kaibul-Lamjaa, Loktak is considered to be the only natural habitat of the Swamp Deer. Similarly, Sambhar is also related to Shakambhari Devi, an incarnation of Maa Durga,” he added.

He further lauded the people involved in the conservation of biodiversity and said that the expansion of wetlands could only happen because of the people living around these Ramsar sites.

Vedanthangal of Tamil Nadu was declared a Ramsar Site in 2022. The entire credit for preserving the bird population here goes to the farmers in the neighbourhood, the PM said, adding the Panjath Nag community in Kashmir spends a day, especially cleaning the village spring during the Annual Fruit Blossom festival.

Most of the Words Ramsar Sites also have a Unique cultural heritage, he said.

“Along with enriching Biodiversity, they also ensure Flood control and Ground Water Recharge. Many of you must be knowing that Ramsar Sites are such wetlands which are of international importance…Ramsar Sites should have 20,000 or more water birds. It is important to have a large number of local fish species,” the Prime Minister added. (ANI)
