RRR’s Naatu Naatu Makes Waves Again At Academy Awards

The craze around the Oscar-winning track ‘Naatu Naatu’ from SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ has not gone yet. The still is very much trending across the globe.

Interestingly, the track made its way to Oscars 2024 as well. Although the movie wasn’t part of any nomination, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus became part of the Oscars montage, featuring the visuals of ‘Naatu Naatu’, which starred NTR Jr and Ram Charan.

The visuals of the song were displayed on the big screen as Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande walked in to present the award for Best Original Song.

The official X page of ‘RRR’ shared the video and captioned the post, “On the #Oscars stage again!!! #RRRMovie (sic),” with fire emojis.

Last year ‘Naatu Naatu’ bagged the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2023. Composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose accepted the award on behalf of the team.

RRR’s action sequence also featured in Oscar 2024 video

Actors Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt walked on stage to facilitate the stuntmen and action crew. While the Oscar-nominated actors were praising the stuntmen, the Academy Awards played a video highlighting action sequences for world cinema. Ram Charan and NTR Jr’s action sequence from RRR also displayed on the screen.

Historic Three Nominations For India At Oscar 2023

After the Oscar nominations were announced, every Indian’s heart was pumped with pride and joy as we secured three nominations this year.

First and foremost, of course, the much-celebrated music of ‘RRR’ made it to the Oscars race this year. The magnum opus film’s energy-packed track ‘Naatu Naatu’ made it to the nominations this year in the ‘Original Song’ category.

This lyrical composition of ‘Naatu Naatu’ by MM Keeravani, high energy rendition by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, unique choreography by Prem Rakshith, and lyrics by Chandrabose are all the elements that make this ‘RRR’ mass anthem a perfect dance craze.

The song is competing against ‘Applause’ from the film ‘Tell It Like A Woman,’ ‘Hold My Hand’ from the movie ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘Lift me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ and ‘This Is Life,’ from ‘Everything, Everywhere All At Once’.

Not just ‘Naatu Naatu’, two Indian documentaries also made it to the nominations this year – Shaunak Sen’s ‘All That Breathes’ and Kartiki Gonsalves’ ‘The Elephant Whisperers’.

‘All That Breathes’ has been nominated in the ‘Documentary Feature Film’ category against ‘All the Beauty and the Bloodshed’, ‘Fire Of Love,’ ‘A House made of Splinters,’ and ‘Navalny’.

The film revolves around the lives of siblings Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who work out of their derelict basement in Delhi’s Wazirabad, to rescue and treat injured birds, especially the black kites.

‘The Elephant Whisperers’ has been nominated in the ‘Documentary Short Film Category’ against ‘Haul Out,’ ‘How Do You Measure A Year?’ ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect,’ and ‘Stranger At The Gate’.

The film’s plot revolves around a family who adopts two orphan baby elephants in Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

The Oscars are going to be held on March 13 this year and while the wait is going to be quite a long one from now, the nominations have sure lifted the spirits of not just the crew and cast of the films mentioned above, but also of everyone who hopes to see an Indian movie bagging the prestigious award. Oscar Nomination: Ram Charan Feels Proud To Be Part Of ‘Naatu Naatu’

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ made it to the official 95th Oscar nominations on Tuesday.

The film’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has officially entered the Oscars race in the ‘Best Original Song’ category. To mark this occasion actor Ram Charan, took to his Twitter account and shared his reaction.

“What brilliant news! Truly an honour to see “Naatu Naatu” nominated for the Oscars. Another very proud moment for us & India. Well deserved @MMKeeravaani Garu, @SSRajamouli Garu, my brother @tarak9999and the entire team of #RRR All love,” he wrote.

After a great winning streak at Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, the film has officially entered the race for the Academy Awards.

Earlier, ‘Naatu Naatu’ bagged the Golden Globes for the category ‘Best original Song’. The song also won the Critics Choice Award in the same category.

The film also bagged the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ at the Critics Choice Award. If ‘RRR’ wins the Oscars, it will be the most memorable, remarkable, golden moment for the Indian film industry.

Talking about India’s performance at the Academy Awards so far, the first Oscars that was one by an Indian artist was for costume designing. Bhanu Athaiya bagged the Oscars in 1983 for designing the costumes in the 1982 historical film ‘Gandhi’. In 2009, British film set in India ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ bagged 4 Oscars.

The film is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Ram Charan and Jr NTR played lead roles, respectively. The film collected over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran also starred in the film.
