Amit Shah in Tamil Nadu

Shah Calls Nitish ‘Paltu Babu’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday referred to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as “Paltu babu” (one who changes decisions) and attacked him for questioning the work done by the Centre during the past nine years.

Shah said Nitish Kumar should have some regard for those with whom he has shared power and because of whom he became CM. Amit Shah arrived in Bihar’s capital Patna on Thursday for a one-day visit to Lakhisarai district.
“Paltu babu Nitish Kumar was asking what had been done (by the centre in nine years. At least have some regard for those with whom you shared power and because of whom you became the Chief Minister. A lot of work was done by PM Modi across the country in these nine years,” said Shah at a rally in Bihar’s Lakhisarai.

Praising PM Narendra Modi for the stature he has achieved in global politics, Shah said, “These nine years have been years of India’s glory. Wherever PM Modi goes, be it the US or England or France or Egypt – you hear chants of ‘Modi, Modi’. He went to the US recently, some Heads of State sought appointment with him, some others – his autograph, while some others touched his feet for blessings. This respect for PM Modi across the world is not only his or BJP’s but that of crores of Indians…”

While mentioning the PM Modi-led government’s response towards Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Shah accused UPA governments for remaining silent on Pak-sponsored terrorism and said, “Earlier, when Pak inspired terrorists used to attack, Sonia-Manmohan’s government did not retaliate and remained silent as ‘Mouni Baba’ while sitting in Delhi. But when there were attacks in Pulwama and Uri during PM Modi’s tenure, Modi ji retailed within 10 days by doing surgical strike and air strike in Pakistan.”

“Congress, JD-U, RJD, and Mamata Banerjee used to say that if Article 370 gets abrogated there will be a blood bath in Kashmir. But I would like to tell Rahul Baba no one dared to throw a stone,” said Amit Shah.

After addressing the rally he offered prayers in the historic Ashok Dham temple and met with trustees of Mandir as part of the party’s ‘Sampark Se Samarthan’ Abhiyan. He also visited the residence of Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha.

Earlier speaking to ANI regarding Amit Shah’s visit to the state, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that after completion of the programs in Lakhisarai, the Home Minister will directly reach Patna’s Gandhi Maidan rally venue where he will address a public meeting on the completion of nine years of the Modi government.

Rai said that this is going to be a historic visit like his earlier visits to the state. (ANI)

Centre Should Consider That Country Is Diverse: Farooq On UCC

National Conference (NC) Chief Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said that the Centre before bringing the Uniform Civil Code should consider that the country is diverse.

Farooq Abdullah also extended his greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He got emotional while explaining the significance of the day, which recognises Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice everything, including his son Ismail for Allah.
Meanwhile, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir extended his wishes to the pilgrims embarking on the Amarnath Yatra, commencing on July 1.

“They (Central Government) should consider that the country is diverse. People of all religions, languages, and ideologies live here, and as for Muslims, they have their Shariat laws too. The Government should think about any possible storm that would come if they take a step in this direction (implement UCC)” he said.

“I send my best wishes to the (Amarnath) Yatra. It is starting tomorrow, may Allah bless them with success in taking blessings from here,” he said.

“I wish everyone on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha and pray to Allah to accept our sacrifices, forgive our sins, and free Jammu and Kashmir from the difficult times it is facing now,” said the PDP chief.

“Today is the day when we make sacrifices in the name of Allah. We hope Allah accepts our offerings and relieves us of some of our problems, thus allowing us to live peacefully,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief, Mehbooba Mufti, also extended her greetings to everyone on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Eid Al-Adha or Bakra Eid, which is being observed on June 29 this year, is a holy occasion also called the ‘festival of sacrifice’ and is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. It marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

Every year, the date changes as it’s based on the Islamic lunar calendar, which is about 11 days shorter than the Western 365-day Gregorian calendar.

The festival is an occasion of joy and peace, where people celebrate with their families, let go of past grudges and make meaningful connections with one another. It is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice everything for God.

Eid traditions and festivities vary around the world, and different countries have unique cultural approaches to this important festival. (ANI)

Smriti on rahul's meeting with george

Smriti Questions Rahul’s Meeting With George Soros’ Aide

Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday raised questions about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s alleged meeting in the USA with Sunita Vishwanath, who is a member of an organisation owned by George Soros, allegedly involved in anti-India activities.

Irani asked why is Rahul Gandhi “hobnobbing” with those who are funded by George Soros as it is known to everyone what Soros intends to do. While levelling the allegation, Irani also produced a photograph before the media in which Rahul Gandhi can be seen sitting with Vishwanath.
Former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi went on a 10-day visit to USA from May 31 and participated in programs in three cities, San Francisco, Washington DC, and New York.

Regarding the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Irani slammed Congress for the presence of Global Vice President of the Open Society Foundation funded by George Soros in the Yatra who was seen accompanying Rahul Gandhi.

“Even in Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka, the Global Vice President of the Open Society Foundation funded by George Soros was found accompanying Rahul Gandhi. What is extremely distressing is the link with the Islamic Circle of North America. Those in the public domain who will research how the registration process for NRI interaction with Rahul Gandhi in New York ensued will find contact of a man named Tazeem Ansari. He has an organisational link with Jamaat-e-Islami….”

Irrespective of all this till now Congress party has not denied the meeting between Gandhi and Sunita Vishwanath, said the union minister. (ANI)

Vaghela meet with akhilesh

Vaghela Meets Akhilesh Amid Efforts At Oppo Unity For 2024 LS Polls

Amid efforts at opposition unity for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela, who had campaigned for the Congress in the assembly polls in the state last year, met Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday.

Both Samajwadi Party and Vaghela, a former Congress legislative party leader in Gujarat, described it “courtesy meeting”.
“I have come here on a courtesy call…If there is any political talk, information will be shared,” Vaghela told ANI.

Asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on Uniform Civil Code, Vaghela said, “It is their marketing-nothing else…”

Akhilesh Yadav was part of the mega conclave of opposition parties in Patna last month that was aimed at fostering unity for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said after the meeting that they will fight the elections together and the discussions will be carried forward in another meeting of opposition parties in July.

There have been suggestions in the opposition camp that the largest and strongest party should lead the battle in a state.

Uttar Pradesh is among the states where opposition parties including the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Congress have clashing ambitions. Samajwadi Party appears keen to get the support of other national parties in its aim to win maximum Lok Sabha seats from the state.

It remains to be seen how many seats Congress would agree to fight if there is an understanding with Samajwadi Party for the Lok Sabha polls. The state has significance for the national ambitions of Congress while SP is also keen to emerge as a key player.

BSP leader Mayawati had taken a dig at the meeting of opposition parties in Patna and had referred to Uttar Pradesh which sends 80 MPs to Lok Sabha. She had said that it does not seem from the attitude of opposition parties that they are serious about their objective in Uttar Pradesh.

Vaghela’s meeting with Yadav,a former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, is being seen as politically significant.

Vaghela had experimented with a third force in Gujarat and formed Rashtriya Janata Party and Jan Vikalp Morcha and Praja Shakti Democratic Party. The octogenarian leader was the Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat assembly and resigned from the Congress in 2017. His son had joined the Congress ahead of the last assembly polls in Gujarat. Vaghela had broken away from BJP and became Chief Minister for almost a year in 1996. He also served as a union minister in the Manmohan Singh government. (ANI)

Cabinet Approves Rs 315 Per Quintal Remunerative Price For Sugarcane Farmers

The union cabinet has approved the fair and remunerative price for sugarcane farmers at Rs 315 per quintal, which is the highest ever, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said here on Wednesday.

He said sugar procurement has increased to Rs 1,13,000 crore and total procurement in the 2014-23 period stands at Rs 7,86,066 crore.
Addressing a press conference, the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said, “PM Modi has always been in support of farmers, that’s why the ministry was named ‘Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’. The cabinet has approved the highest-ever fair and remunerative price of Rs 315/quintal for sugarcane farmers for the sugar season 2023-24.”.

“The decision will benefit 5 crore sugarcane farmers and their dependents, as well as 5 lakh workers employed in the sugar mills and related ancillary activities,” he added.

Making a comparison with the previous governments, the Union Minister said that under the BJP government, timely payments have been made to the sugarcane farmers.

“In 2013-14, the rate used to Rs 210/ quintal and the total procurement was around Rs 97,104 crore. While it has increased to Rs 1,13,000 crore under the BJP government. Under the UPA rule, the total procurement was Rs 2,71,204 crore. While in 2014-23, the procurement of Rs 7,86,066 crore has already been done. At that time, the sugarcane farmers had to block roads and protest for getting their payments. But, in the last few years, all the payments have been timely done and the backlogs have been cleared as well,” he said.

He further added that the scheme of mixing ethanol with crude oil has also turned out beneficial in multiple ways.

“Prime Minister Modi has stressed on mixing of ethanol with crude oil; petrol and diesel. For this purpose, Rs 20,500 crore has been allocated. This shows that now they have more cash, earlier they were overladen with stocks and farmers didn’t receive payments. It has strengthened our Atmanirbharta, led to reduction in the use of foreign exchange and also propelled the growth of ethanol sector,” Thakur further added. (ANI)

Length Of Highways In India Increased 59% In 9 Yrs: Gadkari

The total length of national highways in India increased by about 59 per cent in the past nine years – since the current government came into power, said Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said and noted as a result of this expansion the country now has the second largest road network after the US.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, Gadkari said the total length of National Highways was 91,287 km in 2013-14, which has now increased to 145,240 km in 2022-23.
He also said that, in the last nine years, the increase in four-lane highways rose about two times. In 2013-14, the length of four-lane highways was 18,371 km which has increased to 44,654 km now.

Secretary road transport and Highways Anurag Jain and NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav were also present at the press conference.

Further, Gadkari said with the introduction of FASTag, there has been a significant jump in toll collection. The minister further informed that the revenues from tolls rose to Rs 41,342 crore in 2022-23 from Rs 4,770 crore in 2013-14. The central government aims to increase the toll revenue to Rs 130,000 crore by 2030, he added.

Gadkari said the waiting time at toll plazas has also reduced as a result of this.

“In 2014, the waiting time at the toll plazas was 734 seconds, whereas in 2023 this has reduced to 47 seconds. We are hopeful that we will bring it down to 30 second soon,” he said.

Minister spoke about the transformative impact of FASTag on travel experiences in India, saying it has revolutionised the concept of toll payments, eliminating the need for cash transactions. This breakthrough, he said citing some research, has saved approximately Rs 70,000 crore in wasted fuel expenses.

For the northeast region, Gadkari said special emphasis is being laid on the expansion in the road highway network in the far east region, saying projects worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore are being carried out in the region.

On green initiatives taken by the government, Minister pointed out that his Ministry has utilised 30 lakh tons of garbage in road construction for the Delhi Ring Road project, demonstrating a proactive approach towards waste management and sustainable infrastructure development. (ANI)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Modi Congratulates Athletes For Winning 202 Medals At Special Olympics Summer Games

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated the athletes who represented India at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Berlin and won 202 medals including 76 Gold Medals.

India finished the final day of the Games by taking their medal tally to 202 medals (76 gold, 75 silver and 51 bronze), with the last of the medals coming from the athletics track.
“Congratulations to our incredible athletes who represented India at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Berlin and won 202 medals including 76 Gold Medals. In their success, we celebrate the spirit of inclusivity and applaud the perseverance of these remarkable athletes,” PM Modi tweeted.

The Special Olympics World Games 2023 came to a close here on Sunday, after an evocative, emotional and triumphant closing ceremony at the Brandenburg Gate in the centre of the city. The gate had served as a restricted zone when the city was divided by the Wall, and has, ever since been a beacon of unity — a fitting parable for a sporting event that celebrates unity, diversity and special skills.

Indian athletes notched six medals from the track events (2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze). The headlines would undoubtedly go to the gold medallists Aanchal Goyal (400m, Level B Female) and Ravimathi Arumugam (400m, Level C Female) who blew away their competition to take the top of the podium. And yet, it is important to note that the color of the medal is not in itself a judge of the performance. Saket Kundu, who had earlier grabbed a silver medal in the mini javelin Level B, also won a bronze in the Level B 400m, a rare double act in the track and field. (ANI)

Antony on congress

LDF, Cong Showing Fake Unity: Antony

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anil K Antony on Tuesday said that the Left Democratic Front and the Congress party are fooling the people in the country by trying to create a fake unity.

Speaking on the arrest of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K Sudhakaran in a cheating case in Kerala, the BJP leader said, “Fight between Congress and CPIM in Kerala is clearly visible now after the arrest of Sudhakaran. On one hand, they speak of opposition unity and on the other hand, there is an open fight going on in states.
Anil Antony told ANI that all the events in the last few days in Kerala and events across India in many states are an example that the opposition unity is just on paper.

“It is just fragments of fantasy by a few parties which has nothing in common, in vision or ideology or direction. The only thing all these parties are trying to create in the name of unity is their common opposition towards Prime Minister Modi Ji”, BJP’s Anil Antony said.

He further said that it also shows the opposition’s contempt towards the mandate of the people of the country.

“It shows their contempt towards the mandate of the people of India. What these parties fail to realise and what they fail to remember at this point is that in 2014 and 2019, there is a central government that has been elected by the people of India through one of the largest mandates in history and here are these people without anything in common except for their hatred towards the PM. In another way they are also disrespecting the mandate of the public”, Antony added.

Antony asserted, “Now in Kerala these two parties, the Congress and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPIM) which are among the 15 opposition parties who attended the meeting in Patna, whose leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sitaram Yechury are together saying that they have to fight BJP. But in Kerala what we are witnessing is the actual reality of these two parties. There the Congress is saying that the CPIM government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is one of the most corrupt administrations in entire India.”

The BJP leader escalated his attack on the two parties and said that the CPIM-led government in Kerala is charging cases against the leader of the opposition and KPCC chief while their leaders in the Capital are claiming they are on the same page in the fight against BJP.

“The CPIM government in Kerala is charging cases and having an investigation against the Leader of the Opposition and the KPCC president in the state. The KPCC chief was arrested 2 days back and the LoP is facing vigilance charges against him. Then ironically the same people are coming here and in one stage they are sitting with Rahul Gandhi and then they are saying we are united in the fight against BJP”, Anil Antony said.

He further alleged that every one of the 15 members of the coalition is doing the same with each other like the events in Kerala and making a fool of the public.

“Rahul Gandhi himself is blaming the CPIM leadership by saying that they will not tolerate any kind of intimidation by the CPIM government in Kerala. So all this is just cacophony. Every one of the 15 members of the coalition across India are doing this to each other and then they think that they can fool the public”, he added.

He further said, “They can fool the people of this country by trying to create some fake unity against PM Modi. The public will stand with the Prime Minister in 2024 and we are absolutely sure that this is to happen especially when we see all this kind of hypocrisy that two of the main parties of the 15 doing right now.”

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet on the KPCC chief’s arrest in Kerala, Anil Antony said, “This is exactly my point. This is BJP’s point, Rahul Gandhi himself is saying that we don’t fear political vendetta. Vendetta of whom is he talking about? The CPIM. The same CPIM whose general secretary Sitaram Yechury with whom he actually shared a stage in Patna in the fight against the BJP?”

Further responding to Sitaram Yechury’s remark that the case against the KPCC chief is not politically motivated and the rest all are misinterpretations of facts, Antony said, “In Kerala, BJP is fighting very hard on the ground to bring out the facts. Now that the CPIM and Congress have come to an under-the-table understanding at the central leadership. We want to ensure that whatever is the truth comes out and justice prevails.” (ANI)

Modi on 2024 elections

Bhaukla Gaye Hain: Modi Fires Salvos At ‘Opposition Unity’ Front

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a jibe at the opposition meeting held on June 23 saying that they have become flustered because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to win the 2024 elections.

“Wo baukhala gaye hain (They have become flustered). So, they have started to hold meetings… A few days ago a photo session was organised by them (Opposition) and if you see the photographs, you will realise that every person in the photo has their own history of scams, Every photo is a guarantee of corruption and scams. Everyone together is a guarantee of at least Rs 20 lakh crore corruption. at least Rs 20 lakh crore corruption. Congress alone has carried out scams worth lakhs of crores. The RJD, TMC, NCP all of them have a long list of scams,” PM Modi said while addressing party booth workers here.
PM’s remarks come in the wake of a mega Opposition meeting held on June 23 in Patna where leaders from over 15 Opposition parties participated to forge opposition unity to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

“There was bitter opposition of the BJP… be it 2014 or in 2019, in both the elections, there was not as much restlessness as is being seen today. Today, they prostrate in front of each other and there was a time that they used to abuse each other all the time. Their restlessness shows that the people of the country have made up their minds to bring back the BJP in the 2024 elections. Once again in 2024, the massive victory of the BJP is certain, that is why all the opposition parties are in a panic,” he added.

He further said that the opposition has only one guarantee, that of scams and that he will ensure action is taken against every scamster.

“These parties have experience only with scams, and they only have one guarantee, which is of scams. The country has to decide if it wants to accept this guarantee. And here is Modi’s guarantee and that is –to take action on every scammer,” PM Modi said.

Without naming Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, the PM said leaders of the opposition parties had headed to Patna to take lessons of being in jail from “experienced” people.

“You have heard, when a criminal returns to his village from jail, people come to him eagerly to know his experience of jail. Leaders of the opposition party also need that type of experience as they know that they are under scanner and for this, what better than Patna,” PM Modi further said.

The BJP has also come down heavily on the opposition meeting chaired by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in Patna terming it a “photo session”.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 23 had said, “Today a photo session is underway in Patna. They (the opposition) want to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA. I want to tell them that PM Modi will form his government in the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls with more than 300 seats,” Shah, who arrived in Jammu on a two-day visit today said. (ANI)

Grave Injustice To Muslim Daughters: Modi On Triple Talaq

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at Opposition parties for “vote bank politics” and their “policy of appeasement” and said that those who are supporting triple talaq are doing grave injustice to Muslim women.

Stating that advocating Triple Talaq is a “grave injustice” to Muslim women, PM Modi said that if it is a necessary tenet of Islam, then why Pakistan, Indonesia, and Bangladesh do not have it?
“Whoever talks in favour of Triple Talaq, whoever advocates it, those vote bank hungry people are doing a great injustice to Muslim daughters. Triple talaq doesn’t just do injustice to daughters. It is beyond this; the whole family get ruined. If it has been a necessary tenet of Islam, then why was it banned in countries like Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh,” said PM Modi while addressing Bharatiya Janata Party booth workers in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal.

Making a strong pitch for uniform law, he said that the country cannot run on two laws and that Uniform Civil Code was part of the Constitution.

“Today people are being instigated in the name of UCC. How can the country run on two (laws)? The Constitution also talks of equal rights…Supreme Court has also asked to implement UCC. These (Opposition) people are playing vote bank politics,” he said.

Notably, Part 4, Article 44 of the Indian Constitution, corresponds with Directive Principles of State Policy, making it mandatory for the State to provide its citizens with a uniform civil code (UCC) throughout the territory of India.

PM Modi, after flagging off five Vande Bharat Express trains on Tuesday morning, addressed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) booth workers in Bhopal.

“Will a family function if there are two different sets of rules for people? Then how will a country run? Our Constitution too guarantees equal rights to all people,” PM Modi said in Bhopal today while addressing party workers under the BJP’s “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” campaign.

The Prime Minister further said that people are being instigated in the name of the Uniform Civil Code.

“The Muslim brothers and sisters of India have to understand which political parties are taking political advantage of them by provoking them. We are seeing that work is being done to incite such people in the name of UCC,” he further said.

He said that appeasement politics had left many people behind, including the Pasmanda Muslims.

“Pasmanda Muslims have become a victim of politics. Some people are using the politics of appeasement to break the country. The BJP cadre should go and explain this to the Muslims and educate them so that they do not fall victim to such politics” PM Modi said.

“If they were really supportive of Muslims the Muslim brothers would not be poor or deprived…Supreme Court has also asked for the implementation of the UCC. But these people are hungry only for vote bank,” Modi said accusing the Opposition in the country of employing vote-bank politics of appeasement. (ANI)
