Joint Roadmap On Green Hydrogen

France, India Adopt Joint Roadmap On Green Hydrogen

India and France on Tuesday adopted the “Indo-French Roadmap on the Development of Green Hydrogen” to work in a number of areas including industrial partnerships on energy and for greater knowledge sharing and skill development.

“The Minister of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships of France, H.E. Ms Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, and Shri R.K. Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, today adopted the “Indo-French Roadmap on the Development of Green Hydrogen,” French embassy in New Delhi said in a press statement.
According to the embassy statement, France and India believe that decarbonized hydrogen holds immense potential to decarbonize our economies, and both have adopted ambitious national hydrogen strategies.

On May 4, on the occasion of their meeting in Paris, President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clear mandate to foster bilateral cooperation on hydrogen. The adoption of this roadmap delivers on this mandate.

“It aims to bring the French and Indian hydrogen ecosystems together in order to establish a reliable and sustainable value chain for decarbonized hydrogen and achieve our common goal to be world leaders in decarbonized hydrogen,” the embassy said.

On this occasion, Minister Chrysoula Zacharopoulou said: “Today, I am proud to open this ambitious new chapter in the Indo-French partnership for the planet. France and India are teaming up to power the decarbonized hydrogen industry of the future. Coming a few weeks ahead of COP27, it sends a strong message of our two countries commitment to a low-carbon future. This ambitious and tangible roadmap will help accelerate our clean energy transitions and meet our carbon neutrality targets”.

Through this Roadmap, France and India commit to working together on establishing a regulatory framework for developing a decarbonized hydrogen value chain, covering production, storage, transportation, and consumption.

It also aims at developing robust carbon-content certification methods to certify the carbon content of decarbonized hydrogen throughout its lifecycle. “Knowledge sharing and skill development programs between certification bodies will be encouraged.”

Both countries wish to foster R&D to improve hydrogen technologies. “To this end, France and India will facilitate cooperation between their relevant research institutions, including by facilitating visa issuance for researchers,” the embassy said.

The roadmap will also help support the industrial partnerships between the French and Indian energy industries. “France and India will facilitate contacts between economic actors, facilitate administrative procedures, and support pilot projects where suitable,” the release said. (ANI)

Modi: Laws To Be Written In Simple, Regional Languages

Emphasizing reforms in the judicial system, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said laws should be written in simple and regional languages so that even the poorest of poor can understand the new legislation.

Addressing the inaugural session of the All India Conference of Law Ministers and Secretaries vis video conferencing, PM Modi said, “It is important for us to break the shackles of colonialism by removing regressing colonial laws, then only India can progress in true sense. In the last eight years, we removed 32,000 compliances to improve ease of living.”
The Prime Minister pointed out that Lok Adalats have also been established in the country as another means of speedy justice. He said many states are doing good work in this regard.

“The people of the country should not feel the absence of government. Also, the people of the country should not feel the pressure of the government. Over 1,500 archaic laws have been terminated. Numerous cases have been resolved in the country through Lok Adalats,” PM Modi said.

He said the development journey of Indian society spanned thousands of years. Despite all the challenges, the Indian society has made steady progress.

The biggest specialty of Indian society is that while moving on the path of progress, it also keeps on internal reforms, PM said.

He said, “While making laws, our focus should be that even the poorest of the poor can understand the new legislation well. The legal language should not become a barrier for any citizen. Every state should work for this also. For this, we will also need logistic and infrastructure support.”

“Academic system will also have to be made for the youth in the mother tongue. Law-related courses should be in the mother tongue. Let our laws be written in the simple and intuitive language. The Digital library of important cases of the High Court and Supreme Court should be in the local language,” Prime Minister emphasized.

Referring to the e-court’s mission, PM Modi said technology has become an integral part of the judicial system in India. “Digital innovations in legal services like virtual hearing and e-filing are already launched in India and 5G services would further strengthen these technologies,” he said.

He said the delay in the delivery of justice is a major hindrance.

“In Gujarat, we started evening courts. Cases that were of petty crimes were heard in these courts, thus reducing the burden on courts and allowing speedy resolution of matters. When law and order develop in sync with societal progress, it ensures that there is ease of justice,” added PM Modi.

The two-day conference is being hosted by the Ministry of Law and Justice at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.

According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the objective of the conference is to provide a common forum for policymakers to discuss issues relating to the Indian legal and judicial system.

Law ministers and secretaries from states and union territories will be attended the event.

The conference is being conducted so that States and Union Territories can share their best practices, exchange new ideas and improve their mutual cooperation through this conference.

There will be discussions revolving around topics like alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration and mediation for quick and affordable justice; upgrading overall legal infrastructure; removing obsolete laws and improving access to justice.

There will also be a discussion on reducing the pendency of cases and ensuring speedy disposal, bringing uniformity in proposals relating to state bills for better center-state coordination, and strengthening state legal systems. (ANI)

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge

We Are Brothers No Differences Between Us: Kharge

Reacting to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s “uneven playing field” remark, senior leader and party presidential candidate Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said that there are no differences between them.

“…We are brothers. Someone can speak in a different manner. I can do it in a different way. There are no differences between us… Shashi Tharoor and I are from the same family that is Congress, instead of complaining to each other we would rather complain to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah regarding inflation, unemployment, and other issues” said Kharge on Tharoor’s uneven playing field remark.
He further alleged that dragging the Gandhi family’s name in this poll is BJP’s conspiracy to defame them and some people are encouraging it.

“I am a candidate of delegates. Leaders-delegates together fielded me as a candidate…dragging the Gandhi family’s name, I feel, is BJP’s conspiracy to defame them and some people are encouraging it. I condemn this. They said anybody can contest,” he added.

Notably, Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge are up against each other in the race for the post of Congress President.

The election for the Congress’s top leadership is slated to conclude on October 17.

The Congress leader further said that he believes in democracy and it is not good to talk about winning the elections ahead of it.

“I am contesting for the presidential post, delegates are supposed to vote and whoever they will choose will be the next president of Congress party. I believe in democracy and it is not good to talk about winning the elections ahead of it. However, delegations from all the states have put their trust in me,” he said.

He said that everybody has different manifestos ahead of elections if elected his focus will be on protecting the Congress’s ideology and Udaipur declaration

“Another focus will be on increasing women representation, backward class, and minorities in the party,” he added.

Bharat Jodo Yatra is being done to keep the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s ideology and constitution alive which is being hampered by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Earlier, Tharoor said he has been facing differential treatment from the party leaders as against his opponent Mallikarjun Kharge.

On his “uneven playing field” remark, Congress presidential candidate Tharoor said, “…In several PCCs, leaders welcomed and met Kharge Sahab. The same was not done for me. I visited PCCs but PCC chiefs were not available. I am not complaining, but do you not see a difference in treatment?”

He said his party men should vote for him only if they are seeking a change in Congress.

With the Gandhis not running for the top post, the grand old party is all set to get a non-Gandhi president after over 25 years. (ANI)
