‘Bharat Jodo Yatra Is Guiding India Back to its Secular Roots’

As Bharat Jodo Yatra enters its Delhi leg, Mirza Javed Ali, a resident of Chandni Chowk, shares his views on the Mohabbat ka Paigam, a call for love and compassion, by Rahul Gandhi. A first-person account:

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, an initiative spearheaded by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, has found support from a wide spectrum of social and political organizations across the country. The original motif behind this event is to promote a shared sense of purpose and to heal the divisions that have plagued our society and nation on sectarian, communal and regional grounds.

It was in this light that I felt compelled to join the Yatra when it arrived in Delhi after covering numerous cities, towns and villages across the country, bringing together people from different walks of life to celebrate our nation’s diversity.

I wish to alter the narrative that the government of the day has put forward creating wedges among the people of this country. The experience at the Yatra was an uplifting experience, throbbing with an overwhelming spirit of unity that pervaded the event. People from diverse cultures, religions, regions joined hands, setting aside their differences, and embraced a shared vision of a harmonious society.

Rahul Gandhi is carrying a Mohabbat ka Paigam (Message of Love), which seeks to foster empathy and compassion among the attendees. His clarion call has resonated deeply, cutting through the noise of divisive politics and highlighting the common humanity that binds us all. It was a powerful reminder that love can bridge the divides and heal the wounds that have been festering in our society. It was heartening to witness individuals from different backgrounds share their stories, and acknowledge shared aspirations for an inclusive India.

The impact was evident in the interactions and conversations that took place during the Yatra. I witnessed participants engaging in meaningful exchange of ideas, connecting with one another and breaching societal barriers. It was a discovery of sorts about the common ground and thread that binds us all and they pledged to work together for the betterment of the nation.

The Yatra was a collective effort. It brought together people who shed their political affiliations and present themselves as one community, united by a shared vision of a stronger, more cohesive India. It rekindled hope amid these dark times.

I hope that Rahul Gandhi’s message will serve as a catalyst for sustained dialogue, understanding, and cooperation beyond the event itself. The true test of unity lies in our ability to carry the spirit of this Yatra into our everyday lives and work towards a society that upholds the values of love, respect, and inclusivity.

Bharat Jodo Yatra has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those who attended it. It served as a powerful reminder that our differences should never overshadow our shared humanity and that love has the potential to unite us all. It is yet another testament to the enduring spirit of togetherness and the possibility of a brighter, more harmonious future for India.

Bharat Jodo Yatra: Rahul Breaks Into Tribal Dance With Gehlot, Kamalnath

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi matched steps and broke into an impromptu jig with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, and senior party leader Sachin Pilot after his ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ rolled into Rajasthan on Sunday evening.

Rahul and his fellow party colleagues joined in as local artists were presenting a tribal dance performance in Jhalawar.

A video of the impromptu dance performance surfaced on social media, showing Rahul, Gehlot, and Pilot holding hands and dancing with folk artists on the stage.

Later, speaking at the Jhalawar event, Rahul took a customary dig at the BJP and RSS, saying the Congress is a party of Mahatma Gandhi and not of (VR) Savarkar or (Nathuram) Godse.

“This is Mahatma Gandhi’s party, not Savarkar’s or Godse’s. We know how to work hard,” Rahul said.

Earlier on Sunday, before the Congress’ ongoing countrywide foot march reached Rajasthan, a poster war broke out between the loyalists of Gehlot and Pilot. This was after the CM’s followers tried to replace Pilot’s posters in the Jhalawar district.

The incident came took place on Saturday, just days after the party’s national general secretary KC Venugopal held a meeting with the two leaders, who haven’t been seeing eye-to-eye in the recent past.

In a press briefing that followed after, Gehlot and Pilot were seen holding hands as the party tried to project a show of unity amid the ongoing political tussle. Venugopal had claimed that the party was united in Rajasthan.

The press briefing came on the heels of Gehlot calling Pilot a ‘traitor’ who can never become the Rajasthan CM in an interview with a television channel.

The former Rajasthan deputy CM later hit back at Gehlot, calling his accusations ‘baseless’.

On December 3, Pilot released a video asking people to join the yatra when it enters the state. (ANI)

Riya Sen joins Rahul Gandhi yatra

Riya Joins Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra

After Pooja Bhatt and Riteish Deshmukh, actor Riya Sen joined the Rahul Gandhi-led Maharashtra leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Thursday.

Party MP Rahul Gandhi and others resumed the Maharashtra leg of the Yatra today from Patur.
Riya was seen walking alongside Rahul Gandhi.

The actor was dressed in a printed orange-red kurta that she paired with denim jeans and sunglasses.

Earlier, apart from Pooja Bhatt and Riteish Deshmukh, television actor Sushant Singh was seen walking with Rahul Gandhi.

Riya Sen has been away from the cinema for quite some time. She has done films Hindi films, including ‘Style’, Sujoy Ghosh’s musical drama ‘Jhankaar Beats’, ‘Dhoom’, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Qayamat: City Under Threat, and others.

The Yatra has already covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana before entering Maharashtra. Rahul Gandhi will travel through 15 Assembly and 6 Parliamentary Constituencies in Five districts of Maharashtra and would cover a distance of 382 Kms.

Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7 from Kanyakumari, will cover a further distance of 2,355 km in its 3,570-km march. It will end in Kashmir next year. It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress claimed earlier in a statement. Bharat Jodo Yatra is getting support from various political parties and social organizations across the country and the response is increasing day by day.

Notably, all the party MPs, leaders, and workers along with Rahul Gandhi are staying in containers. Sleeping beds, toilets, and ACs are also installed in some of the containers. The arrangements have been made keeping in view the intense heat and humidity with the change of places. The Congress suffered a debacle in the assembly polls held earlier this year and the Yatra is seen as an attempt to rally the party rank and file for the upcoming electoral battles. (ANI)
