Kapoors Pose For A Family Picture, Fans Call It ‘Iconic’

Friday evening turned out to be special for cinephiles who are a fan of Raj Kapoor’s films.

A film festival celebrating some of the biggest films of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor kickstarted in Mumbai today, marking his 100th birth anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, the family members of the greatest showman of Indian cinema gathered together to revive the cinematic work of Raj Kapoor.

At the opening night of RK@100 celebrations, the Kapoor family posed for an iconic picture together. From Raj Kapoor’s son Randhir Kapoor, daughter Rima Jain, daughters-in-law Babita and Neetu Kapoor, to grandson Ranbir Kapoor and granddaughters Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, the ‘Kapoor Khandaan’ arrived in style to celebrate the legendary filmmaker’s birth centenary. Their presence highlighted the family’s collective pride in preserving and celebrating Raj Kapoor’s extraordinary legacy.

Reacting to the picture, a fan wrote “iconic” on Instagram.

Not only Kapoor family graced the event but other members of the film industry came to pay tribute to Raj Kapoor. Prem Chopra, Jeetendra, Vicky Kaushal, Riteish Deshmukh, Huma Qureshi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sharman Joshi among others were also in attendance.

As part of the grand celebration, R.K. Films, the Film Heritage Foundation, and NFDC-National Film Archive of India are presenting Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman. This festival features curated screenings of ten iconic Raj Kapoor films across 40 cities and 135 cinemas.

The festival aims to put spotlight on Raj Kapoor’s most celebrated works, spanning nearly four decades: Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985).

A few days ago, the members of the Kapoor clan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and invited him to mark his gracious presence at the festival.

The meeting in Delhi saw Kareena, Saif, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and other family members come together to discuss the upcoming celebrations.

Kareena shared delightful pictures from the meeting on social media, where the Kapoor family appeared overjoyed to meet the Prime Minister.

The photographs also showed Saif and Ranbir engaging in a conversation with PM Modi.However, the highlight of the post was Kareena seeking an autograph for her sons, Taimur and Jeh from the PM. The Prime Minister graciously wrote “Tim and Jeh” on a piece of paper, a gesture that delighted the fans on social media.

In a heartfelt post, Kareena expressed her gratitude for the special meeting. “We are deeply humbled and honoured to have been invited by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of our grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor. Thank you Shri Modi ji for such a special afternoon. Your warmth, attention, and support in celebrating this milestone meant the world to us,” she wrote.

The festival, which kickstarted on December 13, will take place till December 15. (ANI)

‘Do You Get Time To Listen To Music?’ Alia Asks PM; His Response Wins Hearts

The Kapoor family met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in Delhi, for a special meeting related to the upcoming Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival.

Members of the Kapoor family, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, were present during the interaction. A video shared by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also showed the Kapoor family sharing their experiences after meeting the PM.

During the meeting, a light-hearted conversation between actor Alia Bhatt and PM Modi turned into a delightful moment when the ‘Jigra’ actress asked if the Prime Minister listens to music.

“Kya aap gaane sun paate hain?” (Do you get time to listen to music?), Alia inquired.

PM Modi responded with a simple yet adorable answer, “Main sun pata hoon kyunki mujhe achha lagta hai. Kabhi mauka mil jata hai toh main zaroor sun leta hoon.” (I do listen because I enjoy it. Whenever I get the chance, I listen).

The ‘Jigra’ actress also told PM Narendra Modi that she had recently seen a clip of him in Africa, standing with a soldier, who was singing her song.

“I think aap Africa gaye the. Maine wahan pe bhi ek clip dekha tha kuch jawan ke sath khade the aur vo uss time mera gana gaa rahe the. But maine vo clip dekha tha. Kafi logo ne mujhe bheja tha aur sab log bahut khush ho gaye.” (Recently, I think you went to Africa. I saw a clip where some soldiers were singing my song. Many people sent me that clip, and everyone felt so happy),” said Alia.

Meanwhile, the festival will celebrate the centenary of Raj Kapoor, one of the most iconic figures in Indian cinema, who passed away in 1988. It showcases 10 iconic Raj Kapoor films across 40 cities and 135 cinemas, with a ticket price of Rs 100. The announcement of the film festival, which will include screenings of classics such as Aag, Barsaat, Awaara, Shree 420, and Mera Naam Joker, has sparked excitement among cinema lovers.

Raj Kapoor’s films are renowned for their storytelling, timeless music, and social relevance. His legacy continues to influence generations of filmmakers and audiences. Dressed in a traditional attire for the ceremony, Anu Malik told ANI, “Recently PM Modi said that he likes one of the Bhajans composed by me. It is a beautiful feeling and I am very happy to be present here. I had tears in my eyes when I saw the Temple for the first time.”

Actor Vivek Oberoi said, “It’s magical, spectacular. I have seen so many images of it. But when you see it before your eyes, it seems that you are watching something magical.”

Actor Anupam Kher who has been in Ayodhya for the past few days said, “Historic! Wonderful! I had never seen such an atmosphere for Hindu religion ever before. This is bigger than Diwali. This is the real Diwali…Maryada Purushottam Ram symbolised goodness and a sense of sacrifice. Today, those sentiments can be seen here.”

Actor Chiranjeevi who also arrived at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya to attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony said “This is a God-given opportunity, we are really happy to be here…” he says

Lyricist Prasoon Joshi said, “…We can surrender ourselves to him (Lord Ram) and consider ourselves lucky. Lord Ram’s ideals are very much needed in today’s era. In the time that the world is facing right now, Lord Ram’s ideals can help a lot…”

Pran Pratishtha will be conducted in the presence of Prime Minister Modi, Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Mohan Bhagwat, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of U.P. Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries.

Acharyas of all schools of Bharatiya spiritualism, religion, sect, system of worship, tradition, Sants of more than 150 traditions, Mahamandaleshwars, Mandaleshwars, Shrimahants, Mahants, Nagas, as well as leading figures of more than 50 Adivasi, Girivasi, Tatavasi, Dwipavasi tribal traditions, will remain present to witness the Prana Pratistha ceremony on the premises of the Bhavya Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.

The presence of the tribal traditions being represented by the people of the hills, forests, coastal belts, islands, etc., is happening for the first time in recent history.

The traditions include Shaiva, Vaishnav, Shaakta, Ganapatya, Patya, Sikh, Bauddha, Jain, Dashnam, Shankar, Ramanand, Ramanuj, Nimbarka, Madhva, Vishnu Nami, Ramsanehi, Ghisapanth, Garibdasi, Gaudiya, Kabirpanthi, Valmiki, Shankardev (Assam), Madhav Dev, ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, Chinmaya Mission, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Gayatri Parivar, Anukul Chandra, Thakur Parampara, Mahima Samaj of Odisha, Akali, Nirankari, Namdhari from Punjab, Radhasoami, and Swaminarayan, Varkari, Veer Shaiva, etc.

After the completion of the Pran Pratishtha programme in the Garbha-Griha, all the witnesses will have darshan respectively.

The magnificent Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir is constructed in traditional Nagara style. Its length (east-west) is 380 feet; width 250 feet and height is 161 feet; and is supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors. The pillars and walls of the temple showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses. In the main sanctum sanctorum at ground floor, the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram (the idol of Shri Ramlalla) has been placed.

The main entrance to the Mandir is situated on the eastern side, which can be approached by ascending 32 stairs through the Singh Dwar. There are a total of five Mandaps (Halls) in the Mandir – Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap. Near the Mandir is a historic Well (Sita koop), dating back to the ancient era. In the southwestern part of the Mandir complex, at Kuber Tila, the ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been restored, along with the installation of a statue of Jatayu. (ANI)

Alia, Ranbir Cradle Sleeping Raha As They Jet Off For New Year Vacation

A day after revealing their daughter Raha’s face to the world, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were on Tuesday spotted at Kalina airport in Mumbai.

In the pictures clicked by shutterbugs, Alia can be seen holding Sleeping Raha in her arms. On the other hand, Ranbir quickly waved at the paps as they called out his name. Alia, too, smiled while looking at the cameramen.

In the partial glimpses of Raha, the little one is seen wearing white sneakers and had her hair tied in two ponytails.

The pictures and videos went viral on the internet in no time.

“Wow…so cute,” a fan commented.

“Ranbir and Alia are all set to celebrate New Year with baby Raha,” another social media user wrote.

Alia and Ranbir surprised everyone on Christmas by revealing Raha’s face for the first time.

The couple, as they reached for the Kapoor family Christmas lunch, posed with baby Raha in front of the paps stationed outside Kunal Kapoor’s residence.

Raha looked cute in a white and pink dress with red velvet shoes. Raha’s pictures took the internet by storm as they made fans extremely elated.

In fact, many people were quite happy to notice her uncanny resemblance to her late grandfather Rishi Kapoor and great-granddad Raj Kapoor.

On Raha’s first birthday on November 6, Alia Bhatt shared partial glimpses of her baby girl and wrote a beautiful note. It can be read, “Our joy, our life.. our light! it feels like just yesterday we were playing this song for you while you were in my tummy kicking away.. there’s nothing to say only that we’re blessed to have you in our lives.. you make everyday feel like a full creamy yummy delicious piece of cake Happy birthday baby tiger .. we love you more than love itself (sic).”

In November 2023, Alia attended a media summit where she opened up about why the couple has not yet revealed their daughter’s face.

“I don’t want it to seem like I am hiding my daughter. I am proud of her. If the cameras were not rolling right now, I would put a giant image of her on the screen. I love her. I am proud of our baby. But we are new parents. We don’t know how we feel about her face splashed out all over the internet, she’s barely a year old,” she had said.

Raha was born to Alia and Ranbir on November 6, 2022.

Ranbir Calls Animal, Adult-Rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Actor Ranbir Kapoor along with Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, producer Bhushan Kumar and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga arrived at the trailer launch of their action thriller film ‘Animal’ in New Delhi.

The 3-minute-32-second trailer hinted that Ranbir’s character has turned into a fierce because of his violent upbringing during his younger age.

Ranbir’s character is protective and obsessive about his father’s love. He is seen threatening everybody who comes in the way of his love for his father.

Reportedly, the film has a duration of 3 hours and 21 minutes.

While talking to the media at the trailer launch of ‘Animal’ Ranbir quipped about the film’s long duration and the theme of bond between a father and son and said, “This is an adult-rated Khushi Kabhi Kabhie Gham.”

The ‘Brahmastra’ actor also revealed that despite the role being so violent, he always used to detach from his character after the shoot is wrapped and said, “I am a detached person. I never take my character home. It’s not fair for my loved ones. Agar main agar jaake is inssan ki trh act karta toh meri biwi mujhe maarti.”

Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ also stars Anil Kapoor in the lead role.

The trailer also reveals that Rashmika Mandanna will be Ranbir’s love interest while Bobby Deol plays the antagonist in the film, who makes a stylish yet menacing appearance in the trailer.

‘Animal’ is all set to hit the theatres on December 1 and will be released in 5 languages- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Pooja Shares Picture Of Ranbir-Alia’s Daughter’s First Birthday Bash

Celebrity couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt recently celebrated their daughter Raha’s first birthday with a bash at their Mumbai residence.

Several B-Town celebs marked their presence at the birthday bash.

On Tuesday, Alia’s sister Pooja Bhatt shared a picture of her dad Mahesh Bhatt from the birthday party.

Taking to Instagram, Pooja shared a couple of pictures which she captioned, “Circle of life!”

The first picture featured the filmmaker against the backdrop of the decoration. Pooja was holding a personalized cookie shaped like the number ‘1,’ with her father standing in the background donning a white t-shirt.

The second picture showcased a few cupcakes with ‘Raha’ inscription on it, some even in the form of colorful rainbows.

Earlier in the day, Raha’s grandmothers Neetu Kapoor and Soni Razdan dropped special birthday messages for Raha on social media.

Neetu shared her daughter Riddhima Kapoor’s Instagram note which read, “…and just like that she turned 1. Happy 1st Birthday my precious doll Raha. We love you to the moon and back…”

“Seems like just yesterday that you came into our world. Can’t believe it’s already been a whole year! Happy Birthday darling Raha. Happy Birthday to You (pink heart emojis),” Soni Razdan posted.

On the special occasion, Alia and Ranbir’s close friends and family members arrived at their residence to celebrate Raha’s birthday. Kareena was papped outside Alia’s residence along with her son Jeh. Her staff member could be seen holding presents in his hand. Isha Ambani and Akash Akash Ambani were also spotted outside the couple’s house.

Ranbir tied the knot with Alia Bhatt on April 14, 2022, and announced their pregnancy in June 2022. On November 6, last year, the couple welcomed Raha. Upon her birth, Ranbir and Raha had requested the paparazzi to not click their daughter’s face until they are comfortable with it.

Recently at a media summit, Alia spoke about why she hasn’t revealed her daughter’s face yet.

“I don’t want it to seem like ‘oh I am hiding my daughter’s face.’ I am proud of her. We are proud of our baby. The intention with which it came out initially was that we are new parents, we don’t know how we feel about her face being splashed all over Instagram. She is barely a year old. We don’t find the need for her to be a moment of paparazzi. She is still too little.”

ED Summons Ranbir In Mahadev Betting App Case

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on Friday (October 6) in connection with the Mahadev betting app case.

According to sources Ranbir Kapoor had allegedly carried out promotional activities for the Mahadev betting app. In this case, ED also suspects several other A lister celebrities and certain sports personalities who promoted the app

Mahadev app founders are running 4-5 similar apps. The apps were being run from UAE.All these apps were making a profit of several crores rupees every day

A lavish wedding held this February in the United Arab Emirates caught the attention of the Enforcement Directorate as the entire money-around Rs 200 crore- spent on the bash was paid entirely in cash.

At his wedding held in Ras Al-Khaimah, Sourabh Chandrakar, one of the promoters of Mahadev Online Book Betting app, hired private jets to ferry family members from Nagpur to the UAE and paid celebrities from the Indian film industry to perform, according to the ED.

The agency in mid-September released details of its investigation into the online money laundering case linked with the Mahadev Online Book Betting app. Wedding planners, dancers, decorators etc, were hired from Mumbai and hawala channels were used to make payments in cash, ED had said.

Mahadev Online Book Betting app is an umbrella syndicate arranging online platforms for enabling illegal betting websites to enrol new users, create user IDs and the laundering of money through a layered web of benami bank accounts.

The ED said Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal who hail from Bhilai in Chattisgarh are the two main promoters of the Mahadev betting platform and ran their operations from Dubai. They had created an empire for themselves in that country.

The agency had recently conducted searches at 39 locations across Raipur, Bhopal, Mumbai and Kolkata and seized illegal assets worth Rs 417 crore. ED has also earnestly taken up investigation abroad.

A Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) special court at Raipur has also issued non-bailable warrants against the suspects.

The ED which is investigating money laundering charges in connection with the Mahadev Online Book app had last month conducted searches in Chhattisgarh and arrested four accused including the chief liaisoner of the betting syndicate, which the probe agency alleged was organizing payment of bribes to senior government functionaries as ‘protection money.’

ED had stated that it has successfully identified other major players involved in the money laundering operations of the Mahadev online booking app. (ANI)

Taking to Instagram story, Alia shared a throwback picture of her husband Ranbir Kapoor holding his father’s photo frame during their wedding festivities.

Ranbir made his late father Rishi a part of the mehendi ceremony by holding his photo in his hand while dancing.

Sharing the photo, she wrote, “always with us..always.”

Earlier today, Rishi Kapoor’s wife Neetu shared a video featuring Rishi’s iconic songs on her Instagram.

She captioned the post, “In remembrance,” followed by a joined hands emoticon.

Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ revolves around a maiden sold by a suitor into prostitution and how she becomes a prominent and celebrated figure in the underworld and Kamathipua red-light district. Alia’s stellar performance in the film helped her bag the Best Actress Award at IIFA 2023 and Filmfare Awards 2023.

Neetu, on the other hand, was last seen in ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’, co-starring alongside Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani.
