Equip Predator Drones

Defense Forces Planning To Equip Predator Drones With India-Made Missiles

Indian defence forces are planning to integrate made-in-India missiles on Predator drones, which are being acquired from the US under a foreign military sales deal.

Defence officials told ANI that the forces are in the process of identifying indigenously developed weapon systems which can be equipped on these drones when they arrive.
“When indigenous weapons are made, how do we integrate them into this (Predator),” Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar said in an interview with ANI on Wednesday.

The deal for 31 Predator drones is being negotiated between India and the US and includes proposals for making an unmanned aerial systems hub in the country as part of the programme.

In the recent past, there are many private and public sector companies that have developed their own weapons and missiles for the defence forces. The Navy chief also stated that many technologies of the high technology drones are getting transferred.

As many as 21 of these drones are going to be assembled here for which there will be a requirement for smaller companies, MSMEs, and startups to participate.

The Predator is armed with air-to-ground missiles and other weapons along with big surveillance and intelligence payloads.

The Indian drones would be equipped with both land and sea surveillance equipment, which they would be able to use in different terrains as per requirements. (ANI)

Yogi To Inspect Flats Built On Land Confiscated From Atiq

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will on June 30 inspect flats built on land confiscated from slain gangster Atiq Ahmed.

According to sources, the CM will also be handing over the flat keys to beneficiaries on Friday.

Preparations have been underway for the last 10 days ahead of CM’s visit, said Mukesh Kumar, one of the workers doing wall designs for the occasion.

“Most of the work is complete. CM Yogi ji will be coming tomorrow. We have been working for the last 10 days. Only the finishing works are remaining”, he said.

Dinesh, one of the residents of the area, said that everyone in the area anticipates the event.

“Everyone is excited and happy. We all are going to be benefitted by this project. The works here are almost complete, preparations to welcome the CM are now going on. Also, the cleaning works of the flats is underway”, Dinesh said.

As many as 76 flats built for the poor, on land confiscated from slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj were allotted through a lottery on June 9.

“The lottery was drawn for allotment in the auditorium of Allahabad Medical Association. After verification of 6030 applicants, 1590 were found eligible to participate in the lottery,” Arvind Kumar Chauhan Vice Chairman of Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) said.

Beneficiaries will get a flat built on 41 square metres for only Rs 3.5 lakh. Officials said that a flat with two rooms, a kitchen, and toilet facilities costs Rs 6 lakh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had on December 26, 2021, laid the foundation stone for this affordable housing project on 1731 square meters of land after it was freed from the possession of Atiq in the Lukerganj area of Prayagraj.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead by men posing as journalists on April 15 night this year, while they were being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj. (ANI)

Stalin After Balaji Dismissed

Governor Doesn’t Have Right: Stalin After Balaji Dismissed

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday hit out at Governor RN Ravi over the dismissal of jailed minister Senthil Balaji, saying he does not have the right to do so and his government will proceed legally in the matter.

The minister had been arrested in connection with a cash-for-jobs scam case.
Speaking to reporters in the wake of the arrest of the fellow DMK leader, CM Stalin said, “Governor doesn’t have the right (to dismiss a sitting minister) and we will face this legally.”

Also lashing out at the Governor, DMK leader A Saravanan accused the Governor of undermining the Constitution, saying that the order, dismissing Balaji from the state’s council of ministers, is not even worth the paper it was drafted on.

“Who does the Governor thinks he is? Does he have the constitutional authority (to dismiss Senthil Balaji)? The Governor is undermining the constitution. He is catering to the Sanatan Dharma. The law of the land isn’t determined by the Sanatan Dharma. For a Governor, the constitution should be the Bible, Gita, and Quran. He is acting like a clown, trying to appease his political masters. His order isn’t even worth the paper it was drafted on. It must be consigned to the dustbin,” the DMK leader said.

Former Union minister and Congress leader Manish Tewari, too, slammed the dismissal of the jailed minister, tweeting, “Article 164 of COI”The chief Minister shall be appointed by the Governor and the other Ministers shall be appointed by the Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister… Since Ministers are appointed on advice of CM they can be removed ONLY on advice of CM Unconstitutional Gov.”

Earlier, on Thursday, Tamil Nadu Governor Ravi dismissed DMK leader jailed minister Balaji from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect.

Rahul Gandhi Manipur

Rahul To Take Chopper After Convoy Stopped By Manipur Police

Rahul Gandhi who landed in Imphal earlier on Thursday was forced to make his way back to the State capital a short while later after local police prevented his carcade from proceeding to Churachandpur, where the Congress leader was headed to meet with victims of ethnic violence.

“Seeing the ground situation, we stopped him (Rahul Gandhi) from moving forward and advised him to travel to Churachandpur via helicopter. There is the possibility of a grenade attack along the highway through which VIP Rahul Gandhi is moving. Keeping his security and safety in mind, we’ve not allowed him,” Bishnupur Superintendent of Police (SP) Heisnam Balram Singh told ANI
Gandhi is now returning to Imphal airport, from there he will go to his pre-fixed program by helicopter, a Congress party source said.

The Congress leader’s convoy was stopped at a checkpost near Bishnupur, which is about 20 kilometres from Imphal.

Police, party workers and locals staged a protest and later, police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

“Seeing the ongoing situation in the State, we have stopped the VIPs from proceeding. They can go to places wherever they want by helicopter. If the police actions have been taken otherwise, it is not our problem,” a police official said.

K Meghachandra, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee President has accused the Manipur government of “politicising” Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state.

“People are standing on the roads to welcome Rahul Gandhi but Bishnupur SP, ASP, ADM and other police officials are blocking the roads. I have heard that there were instructions given by Manipur CM to block the roads. They are politicising this. They are only saying that the law and order situation is not good and are not allowing us to move ahead,” Meghachandra said.

Also, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Incharge North East, Ajoy Kumar said that the police had given permission to Rahul Gandhi to travel by road too.

The government action is “totally unacceptable and shatters all constitutional and democratic norms,” Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said.

Kharge took to Twitter to say, “Gandhi’s convoy in Manipur has been stopped by the police near Bishnupur. He is going there to meet the people suffering in relief camps and to provide a healing touch in the strife-torn state. PM Modi has not bothered to break his silence on Manipur. He has left the state to fend for itself.”

“Now, his double-engine disastrous governments are using autocratic methods to stall a compassionate outreach by Rahul Gandhi. This is totally unacceptable and shatters all constitutional and democratic norms. Manipur needs peace, not confrontation,” Kharge said.

Gandhi who had landed in Imphal earlier today for a two-day visit was on his way to Churachandpur where he planned to meet people, displaced by the recent clashes, at the relief camps.

Earlier, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal while speaking to ANI said that the police said that they are not in a “position” to allow the leaders to head forward.

“Rahul Gandhi’s convoy has been stopped by police near Bishnupur. Police say that they are not in a position to allow us. People are standing on both sides of the road to wave to Rahul Gandhi. We are not able to understand why they stopped us” Venugopal told ANI.

Venugopal had said that during his stay, Rahul Gandhi will engage with civil society representatives and visit relief camps in Imphal and Churachandpur, two of the worst affected places in the State due to violence. (ANI)

Amit Shah in Tamil Nadu

Shah Calls Nitish ‘Paltu Babu’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday referred to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as “Paltu babu” (one who changes decisions) and attacked him for questioning the work done by the Centre during the past nine years.

Shah said Nitish Kumar should have some regard for those with whom he has shared power and because of whom he became CM. Amit Shah arrived in Bihar’s capital Patna on Thursday for a one-day visit to Lakhisarai district.
“Paltu babu Nitish Kumar was asking what had been done (by the centre in nine years. At least have some regard for those with whom you shared power and because of whom you became the Chief Minister. A lot of work was done by PM Modi across the country in these nine years,” said Shah at a rally in Bihar’s Lakhisarai.

Praising PM Narendra Modi for the stature he has achieved in global politics, Shah said, “These nine years have been years of India’s glory. Wherever PM Modi goes, be it the US or England or France or Egypt – you hear chants of ‘Modi, Modi’. He went to the US recently, some Heads of State sought appointment with him, some others – his autograph, while some others touched his feet for blessings. This respect for PM Modi across the world is not only his or BJP’s but that of crores of Indians…”

While mentioning the PM Modi-led government’s response towards Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Shah accused UPA governments for remaining silent on Pak-sponsored terrorism and said, “Earlier, when Pak inspired terrorists used to attack, Sonia-Manmohan’s government did not retaliate and remained silent as ‘Mouni Baba’ while sitting in Delhi. But when there were attacks in Pulwama and Uri during PM Modi’s tenure, Modi ji retailed within 10 days by doing surgical strike and air strike in Pakistan.”

“Congress, JD-U, RJD, and Mamata Banerjee used to say that if Article 370 gets abrogated there will be a blood bath in Kashmir. But I would like to tell Rahul Baba no one dared to throw a stone,” said Amit Shah.

After addressing the rally he offered prayers in the historic Ashok Dham temple and met with trustees of Mandir as part of the party’s ‘Sampark Se Samarthan’ Abhiyan. He also visited the residence of Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha.

Earlier speaking to ANI regarding Amit Shah’s visit to the state, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that after completion of the programs in Lakhisarai, the Home Minister will directly reach Patna’s Gandhi Maidan rally venue where he will address a public meeting on the completion of nine years of the Modi government.

Rai said that this is going to be a historic visit like his earlier visits to the state. (ANI)
