Sunny Brings Intense Action Avatar In ‘Gadar 2’ Poster

Makers of the upcoming period action film ‘Gadar 2’ thrilled the audience by dropping an intense poster featuring Sunny Deol on social media.

Taking to Instagram handle on Thursday, Zee Studios shared a new glimpse of Sunny’s character in the movie.
In the poster, Sunny can be seen donning an intense avatar by holding a giant wheel instead of handpump.

The post caption read, “Jab baat parivaar aur desh par aaye, toh Tara Singh ke saamne koi bhi dushman na tik paaye! #Gadar2 aa rahi hai bade parde par lagane iss Independence Day! 🇮🇳

Cinemas mein 11th August se .”

As soon as the poster was unveiled the actor’s fans flooded the comment section with heart and fire emojis.

Helmed by Anil Sharma, ‘Gadar 2’ film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles.

Bringing back the magic and nostalgia of Tara and Sakina’s love story, the makers rearranged the iconic chartbuster, ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’.

In no time the song started trending across various social media platforms and garnered tremendous love and appreciation from the fans. The song is choreographed by highly skilled, Shabina Khan.

Speaking about her experience choreographing Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, Shabina Khan said in a statement, “ Working with Sunny sir has always been wonderful. I am a fan girl actually and when a fan gets to work with their superstar, she is on cloud nine. I worked with Sunny sir when I was an assistant and he was doing his other films and since I’ve worked with him earlier I understand what he likes and what he dislikes.”

She added, “I worked with Ameesha as an assistant choreographer earlier, that’s why we had a good bonding and when the actors and directors believe in you, then your work becomes 50% easier. Working with both of them was amazing, while shooting for Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava I only had one thing in mind, it’s such a cult film and a cult song and I can’t go wrong with this. That’s why I was on my toes for every single shot and when your hard work pays off and when people say things like they went back in time after watching the song, that’s when I feel I have accomplished something as a choreographer who also takes the story ahead with the director.”

‘Udd Jaa Kaale’ has received over 50 million views on various social media platforms.

Recently, the music maestros Udit Narayan, Mithoon and Film Director Anil Sharma united to celebrate the success of reprised version of the song ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’.

The original song was sung by music maestros Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, the new version of the song is recreated and rearranged by Mithoon. Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava was initially composed by Uttam Singh and the lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi.

The teaser of ‘Gadar 2,’ hints that the story begins right from where the story ended in ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ and the fans could also hear a sad version of the song ‘Ghar Aaja Pardesi’. The film’s portrayal of the partition of India and its impact on people’s lives struck a chord with the audience.

The epic tale of patriotism, love and sacrifice of Tara and Sakeena broke multiple records back in 2001. Now, the makers are all set to entertain the audiences with the film’s second instalment.

‘Gadar 2’ will have a big Bollywood clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’. (ANI)

‘Here’s Why Gurgaon is Flooded After Every Rain But Noida Is Business As Usual’

Archit Pratap Singh, an architect and town planner, lists the features that make Noida a much better planned city than Gurugram. His views:

It is essential to analyze and understand the factors contributing to Gurugram’s recurring submergence during monsoon, while Noida located on the other flank of Delhi-NCR manages to withstand the waterlogging onslaught. The key to Noida’s success lies in its meticulous planning and strict criteria for land acquisition. Before any land becomes available for sale to individuals or developers, it must fulfil specific requirements.

These include the presence of road infrastructure, access to electricity, and a well-established sewer system. This careful planning ensures that Noida remains ahead of Gurugram in terms of preparedness, resulting in minimal instances of waterlogging within the city.

There is little doubt that Noida’s planning is better than Gurugram. Unlike Gurugram, Noida’s land acquired by the authority gets basic amenities like electricity, road, and sewer prior to it being made available for residential or commercial purposes.

The extensive storm drain network spanning over 87 kilometers across the city effectively manages excessive rainfall, flushing all the water into either the Hindon or Yamuna rivers. Thus after every heavy downpour, waterlogging may occur but it gets cleared swiftly due to the superior drainage system in place.

Gurugram, on the other hand, faces the burden of three overburdened drains. One drain, situated near Ambience Mall, directly connects to the Najafgarh drain. The second drain carries water from DLF 1, 2, and 3, Sushant Lok-1, MG Road, and surrounding areas, passing through IFFCO Chowk before joining the Najafgarh drain.

ALSO READ: Apocalypse Now In Modern Indian Cities

The strain on the Najafgarh drain, also known as the Badshahpur drain, which bears the weight of more than 60 per cent of the city’s drainage, is immense. This drain, which runs a meagre 27 kilometer, is still under construction, leading to complications in the system and unprecedented waterlogging within the city,

Gurugram’s recurring submergence during monsoons can be attributed to a combination of inadequate urban planning, outdated drainage systems, substandard building design, haphazard land-use management, disrupted watersheds, and a lack of green and sustainable practices.

In contrast, Noida’s resilience against flooding can be attributed to proactive urban planning, modern drainage infrastructure, flood-resistant building design and elevation, effective land-use management, preserved watersheds, and the incorporation of green and sustainable practices. By analyzing and addressing these architectural aspects, Gurugram can aspire to reduce the impact of monsoon flooding and aim for a more sustainable and resilient future.

Yogi on UP Mango market

UP Mangoes Market Must Be Expanded Globally: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the high demand for UP’s mangoes in European markets during the inauguration of the “Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2023” at Avadh Shilpgram in Lucknow.

He urged the need to make these mangoes accessible worldwide, stating that the markets of Europe are waiting for the mangoes of UP.
Adityanath said, “The markets of Europe are waiting for the mangoes of Uttar Pradesh. We must take the mangoes from here to every corner of the world.”

“In Russia, mangoes are being sold at Rs 800 per kg, but it costs Rs 190 to send mangoes through cargo from here. That means, if a farmer exports mangoes to Russia, he will get a net profit of more than Rs. 600,” he added.

Furthermore, he asked the farmers to avoid shortcuts, prioritize quality, and prepare their products in accordance with market demands.

“Our government is working on the ‘Beej Se Bazar Tak’ approach to increase the income of farmers,” he said.

CM Yogi said that the state government sent its teams to numerous nations during the Global Investors Summit.

“We have to explore the global market for horticulture crops, and through Indian Missions Abroad, we should organize exhibitions showcasing agricultural products related to Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Asserting that the mango festival is a platform to increase the income of farmers, the CM said, “As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intention, the Uttar Pradesh government is taking all necessary steps in the interest of the farmers.”

“Our government has built four-pack houses in the state. Recently, we got the opportunity to send two tonnes of mangoes to Dubai from the packhouse in Varanasi, and we will have to organize similar programs from the Saharanpur, Amroha, and Lucknow Packhouses,” he added.

He further stated that agricultural scientists and officers of the Horticulture Department will need to work together in order to bring horticulture crops to the international market.

“Only then we will be able to explore new avenues and give the agricultural and horticultural products of Uttar Pradesh a different identity,” he said.

Producers, buyers, sellers, and exporters participated in the mango festival.

On the occasion, Farmers associated with mango production were honoured.

Before the program, CM Yogi observed the exhibition showcasing various products made from mangoes and released the souvenir of the Mango Festival 2023. Additionally, Chief Minister also honoured farmers and traders from various districts of the state who have excelled in the field of mango production.

Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Agriculture Production Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh, and mango producing farmers were present during the event. (ANI)

Chandrayaan-3 launch

Chandrayaan-3: Spacecraft Lifts Off Successfully From Sriharikota

The wait is over as Chandrayaan-3 was launched on GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle successfully from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota as per scheduled launch time.

The journey from Earth to the moon for the spacecraft is estimated to take about a month and the landing is expected on August 23. Upon landing, it will operate for one lunar day, which is approximately 14 Earth days. One day on the Moon is equal to 14 days on Earth.
Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, will make India the fourth country after US, China, and Russia, to land its spacecraft on the surface of the moon and demonstrate the country’s abilities for safe and soft landing on lunar surface.

Chandrayaan-3 is the ISRO’s follow-up attempt after the Chandrayaan-2 mission faced challenges during its soft landing on the lunar surface in 2019 and was eventually deemed to have failed its core mission objectives.

Chandrayaan-3 will be inserted into the Lunar Transfer Trajectory after the orbit raising maneuvers. Covering a distance of over 300,000 km, it will reach the Moon in the coming weeks. Scientific instruments onboard will study the Moon’s surface and enhance our knowledge.

Chandrayaan-3 is equipped with a lander, a rover and a propulsion module. It weighs around 3,900 kilograms.

Moon serves as a repository of the Earth’s past and a successful lunar mission by India will help enhance life on Earth while also enabling it explore the rest of the solar system and beyond.

July 14, 2023 will always be etched in golden letters in the annals of India’s space sector history, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of the launch of much-awaited Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar mission.

“This remarkable mission will carry the hopes and dreams of our nation,” PM Modi had tweeted earlier.

“Thanks to our scientists, India has a very rich history in the space sector. Chandrayaan-1 is considered to be a path breaker among global lunar missions as it confirmed the presence of water molecules on the moon. It featured in over 200 scientific publications around the world,” PM Modi wrote on Twitter.

“Till Chandrayaan-1, the moon was believed to be a bone-dry, geologically inactive and uninhabitable celestial body. Now, it is seen as a dynamic and geologically active body with the presence of water and sub-surface ice,” he added, asserting it might be potentially inhabited in the future.

Chandrayaan-2 was equally pathbreaking because data from the Orbiter associated with it detected the presence of chromium, manganese and sodium for the first time through remote sensing. This will also provide more insights into the moon’s magmatic evolution, PM Modi stated.

The key scientific outcomes from Chandrayaan-2 include the first ever global map for lunar sodium, enhancing knowledge on crater size distribution, unambiguous detection of lunar surface water ice with IIRS instrument and more. The mission has featured in almost 50 publications.

Extending best wishes for the Chandrayaan-3 mission, PM Modi urged people to know more about this lunar mission and the strides India has made in space, science and innovation. “It will make you all very proud,” he added.

Chandrayaan-3’s development phase commenced in January 2020 with the launch planned sometime in 2021. However, the Covid-19 pandemic brought an unforeseen delay to the mission’s progress.

K Sivan, former director of ISRO, told ANI that the success of mission Chandrayan-3 will give a morale boost to programmes like Gaganyan, India’s first manned space mission.

Former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who has been instrumental in the country’s space sector innovation, said on Thursday the Chandrayaan-3 mission is going to be successful and a game-changer event for India.

”Chandrayaan-3 will definitely be a game changer for India and I hope it will be successful. India will become an inspiration to the entire world. Let’s wait for the launch and pray for the best,” Nambi Narayanan told ANI.

“I’m assuming, and I hope that it will be a successful mission. Because whatever the problem in Chandrayaan-2, actually, we corrected the whole thing. From the failure, we have understood all mistakes (on our part),” Narayanan, the recipient of India’s third highest civilian honour, ‘Padma Bhushan’, told ANI.(ANI)

Kejriwal joint press on flood situation

Delhi L-G, Kejriwal Address Joint Press Meet On Flood Situation

The ongoing flooding woes in the national capital brought Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who have been trading barbs in the recent past, together as the two briefed the media jointly on the previaling situation, saying, “We need to work as a team”.

Flanked by CM Kejriwal, ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, L-G Saxena on Friday inspected a flooded stretch near Vikas Bhawan, ITO where a drain regulator was damaged.
The L-G was responding to minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, who said the NDRF team reached the spot only on Friday, even after several requests to the officers last night.

“Thank you, the situation would have been better had the NDRF reached the spot last night itself,” Bharadwaj said.

L-G Saxena said, “I would like to tell you that this is not the time to resport to a blame game or point fingers at each other. Right now, we need to work as a team. I, too, can say a lot of things but this isn’t what we should do at this time.”

Meanwhile, at the joint press briefing, CM Kejriwal said people, who have been grappling with flooding woes over the last couple of days, will get a measure of respite soon, as the rising waters of the Yamuna was receding slowly but surely.

“…water flooded different areas due to many reasons. Here, the flooding took place because of a breach (of drain regulator) while at Raj Ghat, it was a caused due to backflow of water from a drain. Several other places were flooded due to the backflow of the Yamuna waters. However, the people will get some respite soon as the Yamuna waters have started receding,” the CM said.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Atishi said the water level of the Yamuna was receding gradually at a rate of 0.1 metre and will it take another day for normalcy to be restored.

Atishi said no individual could be blamed for the prevailing situatuion as it is the fallout of incessant and heavy rainfall over North India.

“However, there’s good news now as the water levels have started receding. It was stable between 1pm and 7pm yesterday and is receding gradually now. However, since it is receding at a rate of 0.1 metre, it will, perhaps, take another day’s time for the waters go down entirely and for the situation to return to normal. Water entered several areas as the drains were overflowing and there was backflow from the Yamuna. Pumping out the water is not an option as it would have to be discharged into the Yamuna itself, which is already in spate. The situation cannot be blamed on any individual as it is the result of incessant and heavy rainfall over North India. However, the good thing is that the water is receding slowly,” Atishi said.

Earlier, speaking on the flood situation in the national capital, Special CP, Traffic, Surender Singh Yadav, said, “As many as 4,500 police personnel have been deployed in all the affected areas of Delhi. The movements of the Kawariyas are also being monitored. We have been informed that there’s been a decrease in water level at Kashmiri Gate and other areas. But the Ring road area towards Wazirabad is still flooded. We are trying to open the Bhairon Marg by this evening.”

Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that Delhi will likely receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms over the next 4-5 days. (ANI)

Macron gifts to modi at dinner

Here’s The List Of Gifts Modi Received From Prez Macron

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on an official visit to France, was presented with several gifts — with historical and cultural linkages — by French President Emmanuel Macron during a private dinner on Thursday.

Here’s the list of gifts presented to PM Modi:

1.
A framed facsimile of the photograph “A Parisian presenting flowers to a Sikh”, July 14, 1916

PM Modi was presented with the photo which pays tribute to the Indian soldiers who fought in Europe alongside France during World War-I (1914-1918). It also evokes India and France’s long-standing shared battle to defend universal values. Notably, several Indian battalions are partaking in the Bastille Day parade today.

The photo depicts a passer-by giving flowers to a Sikh officer from the Indian Expeditionary Force (IEF) deployed in France. At the time this snapshot was taken, the Battle of the Somme, in which the IEF were fighting, had already begun.

This photo was taken on the Champs-Elysees during the military parade of July 14, 1916, by a photo reporter from the Meurisse news agency. The original copy of the photo is still located at the National Library of France.

In World War I, some 1.3 million Indians volunteered to fight for Britain, including 877,000 combatants.  Over 70,000 of them lost their lives, including about 9,000 in France and Belgium. Most of these combatants were from “warrior peoples” in the north of the Indian subcontinent, like the Sikh soldiers marching on the Champs-Elysees.

2.
Reproduction of the Charlemagne chessmen (11th century)

PM Modi was also presented with the reproduced version of ‘Charlemagne’ chessmen, which represents Indian origins of the game of chess and the long history of trade between India and Europe.

This unique item represents both the long history of trade between India and Europe, with the elephant piece recalling the Indian origins of the game of chess, and the expertise of French companies in terms of innovation and new technologies.

‘Chaturanga’, the common ancestor of European and Chinese chess, appeared in India from the 7th century CE.

Notably, Prime Minister Modi is himself a chess enthusiast. During his term as Chief Minister of Gujarat, he attended the world record event for the most games of chess played simultaneously in one location, in Ahmedabad in December 2010.

The “Charlemagne” chessmen are stored at the Cabinet des Medailles at the National Library of France, and were formerly at the Treasury of the Basilica of Saint-Denis. They take their name from the legend stating that they were given as a gift to the Frankish Emperor by the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid.

Actually, they were made at the end of the 11th century, probably in Southern Italy, given the equipment used by the characters and the presence of elephants as bishops.

3.
Marcel Proust, Le temps retrouve (Time Regained), Pleiade and English edition of A la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time)

Prime Minister Modi was also presented with some famous and historic works of French literature.

A la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time) is a series of novels by Marcel Proust (1871-1922) published between 1913 and 1927 and recognized as one of the most important works of French literature of the early 20th century.

Le temps retrouve (Time Regained) is its seventh and final volume, which was published posthumously.

The Bibliotheque de la Pleiade collection represents academic excellence and the most outstanding contributions of French authors to world culture. As Prime Minister Modi does not speak French, this edition comes with its English translation.

This volume IV of A la recherche du temps perdu from the Bibliotheque de la Pleiade includes the final two volumes of the original work, Albertine disparue (The Fugitive) and Le temps retrouvé (Time Regained), a number of drafts and outlines by the author and much academic commentary. It was published in 1989.

The English edition, Everyman’s Library, also includes the final two volumes of A la recherché du temps perdu. The translation is by CK Scott Moncrieff (1889-1930), a contemporary of Proust and the original translator of Proust into English, as revised by Terence Kilmartin (1922-1991). This version is considered to be one of the best English translations of Proust.

Meanwhile, during the private dinner, Prime Minister Modi was also presented with ‘Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour’, the highest French honour in military or civilian orders.

With this, PM Modi became the first Indian PM to receive this honour. This award comes in recognition of the Prime Minister’s role in the excellent relationship of friendship and trust between France and India.

PM Modi arrived in Paris on Thursday to a ceremonial welcome. He was recieved by his France counterpart Elisabeth Borne and later addressed the Indian diaspora in the France capital.

He will also join French President Emmanuel Macron for the French National Day celebration today in Paris as the Guest of Honour.

An Indian tri-services contingent will be part of the Bastille Day Parade, while three Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force as part of the military contingent, are also set to participate in the Bastille Day flypast over the Champs Elysees, Paris.

Indian Army’s Punjab Regiment, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force have all started gearing up for the parade.

Indian Navy officer Ranveer told ANI, “The contingent is full of enthusiasm. You will be able to see during the parade that what preparations we did. We have been preparing for the last one month. Today is the final day…We are very proud that PM is here and our contingent is participating here”.

Indian Navy Lt Commander Disha said, “We are all in full ‘josh’. The entire contingent is ready to give our best and represent India on a foreign land. It is a matter of pride for us to march past the PM”. (ANI)

Will Parade At Our Ancestors Did: Punj Regiment Gears Up For Bastille Day Parade

An Indian tri-services contingent, led by the Punjab Regiment of the Indian Army, gathered at the Champs-Elysees Avenue on Friday, ahead of the annual Bastille Day military parade in Paris, France.

Preparations are underway for the Bastille Day Parade, which commemorates the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison, an ancient royal fortress in 1789 during the French Revolution.
Meanwhile, security has also been beefed up.

French security forces are seen checking the cars and buses ahead of the parade.

Earlier, on Wednesday, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced the adoption of an exceptional security plan for the French national holiday, which will be placed under heavy police surveillance due to a “particular environment (…) of violence,” Le Monde reported.

No fewer than 130,000 members of law enforcement will be mobilised across the country on Thursday and Friday, “including 45,000 each evening, equipped and organized (…) for urban violence”, the minister said.

The Punjab Regiment will be led by Captain Aman Jagtap. The Indian Navy contingent is being led by Commander Vrat Baghel while the Indian Air Force contingent is by Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy.

Expressing his happiness over being part of the Bastille Day parade, Captain Aman Jagtap, 23rd Battalion, Punjab Regiment, Longewala, who will command the Indian contingent at the Bastille Day Parade, said, “It is a proud and historic moment. After 107 years, we will parade at the same place where the ancestors of my Regiment did. For my troop and me, it is a matter of pride for me…It is not every day that someone gets to parade before one’s PM in a foreign land. It is a huge and rare opportunity for us.”

This year the Bastille Day Parade will have about 6,300 soldiers in various marching contingents. This includes a tri-services contingent of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The Punjab Regiment participated in both World Wars, having been awarded 18 Battle and Theatre Honours in the first war.

Japan's Epsilon Rocket Engine

Japan’s Epsilon Rocket Engine Explodes During Test

In the latest blow to the Japan’s space agency, a rocket engine on Friday exploded during a test, an official said.

As per the Kyodo News Agency, no one was injured in the explosion. The incident took place about one minute after the ground test for the second-stage engine began.
The Noshiro Testing Center in Akita Prefecture is developing the Epsilon S as the successor to the current Epsilon series to enhance the country’s competitiveness in the growing satellite launch market, according to Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

The first rocket in the series blasted off in 2013 and there were successful launches of five models before an Epsilon-6 was ordered to self-destruct in 2022 after it deviated from its intended trajectory.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency sent the command at 9.57 am after the Epsilon-6 rocket lifted off from Uchinoura Space Center near the southern tip of the southwestern main island of Kyushu around 9.50 am.

It was carrying eight satellites developed by private and public entities, including universities, as per Kyodo News Agency.

In a press conference after the failed launch, the agency said the decision to send the self-destruct order was made after the rocket deviated from its intended position and could not place the satellites in orbit.

The failure led the agency to postpone the launch of the Epsilon S from fiscal 2023 to fiscal 2024 as it uses the same fuel tank as the Epsilon-6.

Epsilon series rockets utilize solid fuel, simplifying launch preparations compared with those that use liquid propellants.

JAXA’s new flagship H3 rocket was also ordered to self-destruct in March minutes after its second-stage engine failed to ignite, reported Kyodo News Agency. (ANI)
