Will Win All 80 Seats UP: Anurag

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday exuded confidence over BJP’s victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and asserted that this time the party will win all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh and set a new record.

Thakur emphasized the BJP’s historical success in Uttar Pradesh and asserted that the BJP would not only sweep all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh but also secure over 400 seats nationwide, thereby reinstating PM Modi as the Prime Minister of India.

“Earlier too, the BJP has won from Uttar Pradesh and I have full confidence that the party will emerge victorious this time too. This time BJP will win all 80 seats from Uttar Pradesh, and the party will secure 400 plus (char sau paar) seats all over the country and PM Modi will be the Prime Minister once again,” Anurag Thakur said.

Highlighting the fading influence of the Nehru-Gandhi family in Uttar Pradesh, Thakur said, “The big state like UP had given votes to four generations of Nehru-Gandhi family, and today no one is listening to them in UP. Nehru-Gandhi family has bid farewell to UP, so it’s natural to be frustrated and disappointed”.

In a veiled jibe at the INDIA bloc, Anurag Thakur said, “Overall the alliance is a ‘Thugbandhan’. Congress and its allies are habitual of criticising religious places. Sometimes insulting Lord Rama, sometimes talking about crushing Sanatana Dharma and sometimes talking about dividing North and South. What kind of thinking does Congress and its allies have?, he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched an attack on the Congress party’s dynastic politics and said that unlike the opposition alliance, which believes in putting “family first,” he puts the country first and everything that he does is for the welfare of the nation.

Addressing a public gathering in Sangareddy in Telangana, the Prime Minister said, “they (dynastic family) say that they have ideological differences with me. They believe in ‘Family First’, and I believe in ‘Nation First’. For them, their family is everything; for me, my country is everything. They sacrifice the Nation for the welfare of their family; I have sacrificed myself for the welfare of the Nation,” PM Modi had said. (ANI)

Don’t Demean Indian Culture In The Name Of Creative Freedom, Anurag Warns OTT

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on Tuesday told OTT players that the government will not tolerate any content that portrays Indian society and culture in bad light.

The minister revealed his mood during a high-level meeting held today with top executives from Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms to address concerns surrounding content regulation.
The meeting aimed to strike a balance between creative freedom and responsible content while emphasizing the need to prevent the demeaning of Indian society and culture.

As per ministry sources, the minister clearly stated that OTT platforms will not be allowed to be reckless in the name of creative freedom.

The meeting was aimed at implementing a Code of Ethics to enhance content regulation where Thakur raised concerns about the increasing vulgarity, violence, unnecessary woke content, ideological bias and the negative portrayal of Indic religions and traditions in OTT content.

He wondered why OTT platforms are being used to propagate vicious propaganda and ideological biases that demean Indian society and culture.

The minister discussed various other aspects including content regulation, user experience, accessibility for the specially-abled, and overall growth and innovation within the sector.

However, he praised the transformative impact of OTT platforms on content consumption and its ability to showcase regional content globally and nurture new talent.

During the meeting, the minister expressed his displeasure over the overt Western influence and depiction of Indic religions and traditions in bad light through the OTTs.

He sought OTT representatives to propose solutions within a fortnight to address these concerns adding OTT platform can’t act against India’s collective conscience and its diversity.

The meeting discussed the implementation of age-based classification, parental locks, and content descriptors to ensure appropriate access and viewing for different age groups.

Strengthening the Grievance Redressal Mechanism, addressing concerns related to the depiction of India’s map, combating digital piracy and establishing penal provisions for violations by OTT platforms were also key points of discussion.

For a balance between creative freedom and responsible content, Thakur encouraged OTT platforms to review scripts, identify potential violations, and promote family-oriented entertainment.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting Indian heritage, success stories and nationalistic narratives globally through collaboration between the government, industry, and content creators.

The minister emphasized the importance of upholding laws and regulations for OTT platforms during the meeting. He referred to Rule 9(2) of the IT Rules, which states that any OTT platform found in violation of existing laws may face consequential actions as provided by the respective law.

He further talked about Section 45 of the IT Act, which imposes penalties or compensation, not exceeding twenty-five thousand rupees, for contravening rules or regulations made under the Act.

Thakur proposed the establishment of a quasi-judicial body comprising industry experts, and judicial members to expedite the resolution of claims against OTT content. (ANI)

Cabinet Approves Rs 315 Per Quintal Remunerative Price For Sugarcane Farmers

The union cabinet has approved the fair and remunerative price for sugarcane farmers at Rs 315 per quintal, which is the highest ever, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said here on Wednesday.

He said sugar procurement has increased to Rs 1,13,000 crore and total procurement in the 2014-23 period stands at Rs 7,86,066 crore.
Addressing a press conference, the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said, “PM Modi has always been in support of farmers, that’s why the ministry was named ‘Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’. The cabinet has approved the highest-ever fair and remunerative price of Rs 315/quintal for sugarcane farmers for the sugar season 2023-24.”.

“The decision will benefit 5 crore sugarcane farmers and their dependents, as well as 5 lakh workers employed in the sugar mills and related ancillary activities,” he added.

Making a comparison with the previous governments, the Union Minister said that under the BJP government, timely payments have been made to the sugarcane farmers.

“In 2013-14, the rate used to Rs 210/ quintal and the total procurement was around Rs 97,104 crore. While it has increased to Rs 1,13,000 crore under the BJP government. Under the UPA rule, the total procurement was Rs 2,71,204 crore. While in 2014-23, the procurement of Rs 7,86,066 crore has already been done. At that time, the sugarcane farmers had to block roads and protest for getting their payments. But, in the last few years, all the payments have been timely done and the backlogs have been cleared as well,” he said.

He further added that the scheme of mixing ethanol with crude oil has also turned out beneficial in multiple ways.

“Prime Minister Modi has stressed on mixing of ethanol with crude oil; petrol and diesel. For this purpose, Rs 20,500 crore has been allocated. This shows that now they have more cash, earlier they were overladen with stocks and farmers didn’t receive payments. It has strengthened our Atmanirbharta, led to reduction in the use of foreign exchange and also propelled the growth of ethanol sector,” Thakur further added. (ANI)

Punia, Sakshi Reach Anurag’s Residence For Talks

Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik reached the residence of Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur following fresh proposal by the government for discussion on the issues raised by them during their protest.

Anurag Thakur had said on Tuesday that the government is willing to have a discussion with the wrestlers on their issues.
“I have once again invited the wrestlers for the same,” he had said in a tweet.

The wrestlers have been protesting to press their demand for arrest of BJP MP and WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations against him.

Olympics medallist Sakshi Malik had said earlier in the day that they will discuss the talks proposal of the government and take a consensus decision.

“We will discuss the proposal given by the government with our seniors and supporters. Only when everyone gives their consent that the proposal is fine, then will we agree. It won’t happen that we will agree to anything that the government says and end our protest,” Malik said in a telephonic interview with ANI.

‘Standing Up For Terrorists’: Thakur Taunts Mamata Banerjee

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday condemned the West Bengal government for banning ‘The Kerala Story’ movie in the state, and accused the opposition parties of doing “appeasement and vote bank politics”.

“Their (opposition) face is getting exposed. They are doing appeasement and vote bank politics. West Bengal has done immense injustice by banning the movie. Recently only, a girl was raped and murdered in Bengal. Everybody saw how her body was dragged by the police,” the Information and Broadcasting Minister told ANI.

“I want to ask what are you (Mamata Banerjee) getting by standing up for such terrorists. What do you get by promoting such an ideology? Such actions provide support to ISIS and other terrorist forces,” he added.

He further said that ‘The Kerala Story’ is an attempt to bring the truth forward in front of the people.

“The Kerala Story is an attempt to bring forward the truth. The movie leaves you stunned. It shows how Indian daughters are trapped in the name of love, and recruited in terror organisations. The girls are taken showing heaven but are instead sent to hell,” the Union Minister said.

Helmed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film has triggered a massive political row with various leaders reacting to the upcoming movie.

The controversy surrounding the film started when its trailer claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala had gone missing and joined the terrorist group ISIS. This statement triggered a heated political debate and many leaders questioned the veracity of the claim.

“And the makers of the movie have tried to expose this conspiracy. If a terrorist conspiracy like this is taking place in a big state like Kerala. It is the responsibility of everyone to come together in support of this movie, so that not just we are able to defeat such forces,” Thakur further said.

Earlier in the day, Trinamool Congress (TMC)-led West Bengal government banned ‘The Kerala Story’ movie citing “maintenance of peace” and to avoid incidents of “hatred and violence” in the state.

West Bengal has became the first state to ban the film, which narrates the ordeal of three women who are trafficked to ISIS camps after being converted to Islam through marriage.

There’s a continuing political outcry around the movie even as it has been made tax-free in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh.

“This to avoid any incident of hatred and violence, to maintain peace in the state,” Mamata Banerjee said while addressing a media conference.

“What is ‘The Kashmir Files’? it is to humiliate one section. What is ‘The Kerala Story’?… It is a distorted story,” she added.

Mamata Banerjee said, “What is this ‘Kerala files’? I am not supporting CPIM, they are working with BJP. Instead of me, it was their duty to criticise the film. I want to tell Kerala CM that your party is working with BJP and that same party is showing Kerala files – a distorted story. Now I am told they are preparing the Bengal files. First, they defamed Kashmir, then Kerala, and now West Bengal”.

The Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to remove the movie from the screens where it is running.

Reacting over the decision, Vipul Shah, the producer of the movie has said they will pursue legal options against the decision.

“If state government won’t listen to us we go through legal terms what possible things we should do that but as a legal way,” he told ANI.

‘The Kerala Story’ stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in the lead roles. Faced with backlash the makers then withdrew the figure and called the movie the story of three women from Kerala, in its trailer description. (ANI)

Mamata Is Sleeping…Jungleraj Has Returned: Anurag In WB, Bihar

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday hit out at the Bihar and West Bengal governments, over the communal clashes in the states during the Ram Navami festivities.

The Union Minister has spoken at the JITO Ahimsa Run at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, here in the national capital.
Attacking the Bihar government over violence, Thakur alleged that “Jungleraj” has returned in the state.

Talking to ANI, he said, “I would only say that the way the law and order situation in Bihar has worsened, and ‘Jungleraj’ has come. It is very unfortunate that the Jungleraj that was there during the Lalu regime, has returned again under Tejashwi Yadav and Nitish Kumar”.

He also said that the violence during Ram Navami festivities in West Bengal and other parts of the country is also very unfortunate.

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee government, Anurag Thakur said, “Mamata Didi is sleeping. She is providing security to one section. On the incidents of stone pelting, arson and violence during the ‘Shobha Yatra’ of the Hindu community, she kept on taking a selective stand. It is very unfortunate that Hindus are attacked under the protection of a Chief Minister, and she only plays the role of an audience”.

“What is the point of being a Chief Minister, that when you are elected, violence happens, and now again violence has taken place during the Ram Navami,” he added.

In West Bengal, two groups clashed in Howrah amid Ram Navami celebrations on March 30. Several vehicles were set on fire, and public and private properties were vandalised during the clashes.

The West Bengal police on Saturday said that a total of 38 people have been arrested, two cases have been registered and section 144 has been imposed in some areas.

In Bihar, clashes were reported on March 31, in Nalanda’s Biharsharif and Sasaram in Rohtas district where Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit.

Bihar Police on Sunday said the situation in Sasaram and in Biharsharif in Nalanda district is “completely normal and under control”. It said that 27 persons have been arrested in Nalanda and 18 in Sasaram in connection with the incident after identifying anti-social elements, and prohibitory orders under Section 144 are in force in Nalanda. India Requires Drone Pilots Thakur

India Requires 1L Drone Pilots By Next Year: Thakur

Highlighting the country’s progress in the technological space, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday said that India will become the hub of drone technology and will require at least 1 lakh drone pilots by next year.

Addressing the gathering after flagging off the ‘Drone Yatra 2.0’ in Chennai, the Union Minister said, technology is truly transforming the world at a rapid rate and it has never been more relevant than now as its applications are solving some of the most pressing problems on the planet.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thakur said, “PM once remarked that ‘India has a billion solutions to a million problems.’ As a country of a billion plus people, India is increasingly leveraging technology to stay ahead of the curve.”

Detailing the advancements in drone technology in India, he said that during the Beating Retreat, the entire nation was mesmerised by the spectacular display of 1000 ‘Made in India’ drones by Indian start-up ‘Botlab Dynamics’ led by IIT alumni. As a part of the SWAMITVA scheme (Survey of villages and mapping with improvised technology in village areas), the survey of the land and houses is being prepared through drones in the villages, he added.

Drones are increasingly being used to sprinkle pesticides and nano fertilizers in the fields in rural villages.

“During COVID, drones were used to deliver medicines and vaccines in remote areas. Drones are used in Indian cricket. Drones are used for sprinkling pesticides in remote areas. 100 kisan drones placed across India,” the Minister said.

He said that recently, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had granted conditional exemption to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the deployment of drones for live aerial cinematography of the India Cricket Season in 2021.

He remarked that as part of the “Kisan Drone Yatra”, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi 100 Kisan Drones were sent to villages across the country to spray pesticides. He quoted PM Modi’s remark that “Kisan Drone is now the beginning of a new age revolution in this direction.”

Thakur reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting the use of technology in the agriculture sector in order to increase farm production.

He said today, Drone technology is essential for various fields from defence to agriculture and health to entertainment. India is also moving towards creating a strong drone manufacturing ecosystem in the country through schemes like Production Linked Incentive (PLI), he added

The Union Minister said that the Modi government strives to boost the demand for cutting-edge drone technology and services in a three-pronged approach. An effective policy that is the new Drone Rules, 2021; providing incentives in the form of PLI for Drones and Drone Components; and creating indigenous demand wherein 12 Ministries of the Central government have been given the task to take it forward, he said.

Stating that India will require at least 1 lakh pilots in 2023, he said that each pilot will earn at least Rs 50,000-80,000 a month.

While noting that currently there are over 200 drone start-ups operating in the country, the minister said that this number will increase to generate lakhs of new job opportunities for the youth.

Effective policies, incentives to industry, and ‘ease of doing business’ is providing the much-needed impetus to the drone sector which shows its huge potential in India, Thakur said.

“Aligned to PM Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ I am confident that the growing innovation and cutting-edge drone technology ecosystem will ensure a self-reliant and self-sustainable New India in the Amrit Kaal,” he added. (ANI)

Thakur On Ramiz's World Cup Remarks

No Country Can Overlook India: Thakur On Ramiz’s World Cup Remarks

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has said India is a major power in the world of sports and no country can overlook the country.

He was responding to a query about remarks of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja that if India does not come for Asia Cup, Pakistan won’t go for the 2023 World Cup to be hosted by India.
“Wait for the right time. India is a major power in the world of sports & no country can overlook India,” Thakur said.

Earlier in October, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had indicated that Asia Cup could be held at a neutral venue.

After Shah’s remarks about holding Asia Cup at a neutral venue, PCB issued a statement it can impact Pakistan’s visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

“The overall impact of such statements has the potential to split the Asian and international cricketing communities and can impact Pakistan’s visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and future ICC Events in India in the 2024-2031 cycle,” PCB said,

Following PCB’s statement, Thakur had said that India will host the 2023 WC with all teams.

“It is an internal matter of BCCI and it will handle the issue smartly. We have not done anything wrong yet while hosting international tournaments before. We have hosted World Cup successfully before and all teams participated happily. We will host the tournament next year and all teams will play in it,” Thakur had said in October.

BCCI President Roger Binny also said that touring Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 is not the board’s call, but they will rely on the government’s decision.

“That is not our call. We cannot say where our team has to go. We need to take clearance from the government if we leave the country, or other countries come here. We cannot take that decision on our own, we have to rely on the government,” Binny had said.

2023 will mark the first time ever that India will host the marquee cricketing event by itself. It co-hosted the 1987 World Cup with Pakistan and the 1996 World Cup with Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The tournament made its return to India in 2011 when it co-hosted it along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India also emerged victorious in the 2011 edition of the tournament. (ANI)
