Ram Lalla Adorns Handloom Cotton Clothes Ahead Of Summer Season

With the onset of the summer season and rising temperature, Ram Lalla, the revered deity of the Ayodhya Temple has transitioned to wearing comfortable cotton attire from Saturday.

Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra posted on X, “The vastra that Prabhu is wearing today is made of handloom cotton malmal, dyed with natural indigo, and adorned with gotta flowers.”

This shift to lightweight and breathable fabric reflects a thoughtful consideration for the deity’s comfort during the sweltering months ahead.

Ram Lalla, a revered 51-inch idol depicting the youthful form of Lord Rama, affectionately known as “Balak Ram,” has been sculpted from a rare three billion-year-old black stone by the skilled Mysuru-based artisan, Arun Yogiraj.

The Pran Pratishtha ceremony for this divine idol took place on January 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming Ram Navami festivities, the Hanumangarhi temple administration held a meeting on Friday to discuss the arrangements for devotees, temple officials said.

The district administration of Ayodhya and the police were also present at the meeting, they said.

The officials discussed provisions for drinking water and arrangements with special attention to the provision of toilets to ensure that devotees’ feet do not burn in the summer heat.

The meeting by the Hanumangarhi temple administration took place after a few devotees fell unconscious owing to heat and a lack of water.

The meeting saw the participation of senior saints of Hanumangarh, the National President of Sankat Mochan Sena Sanjay Das, Ayodhya Mayor Girishpati Tripathi, the Circle Officer of Ayodhya, senior police officers and officials from the Municipal Corporation.

Police administration and Ayodhya Mayor have assured that the visitors will not face any problems and that all arrangements will be in place during Ram Navami for the ease of the devotees.

Meanwhile, lakhs of devotees kept thronging Ayodhya after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla. Many are visiting the Hanumangarhi Ram Temple every day and their footfall has been increasing rapidly. (ANI)

Idol Of Lord Ram’s Childlike Form To Be Installed In Temple Sanctum

An idol of Lord Ram in his child-like form (Ram Lalla) will be installed in the pure white Makrana marble sanctum sanctorum of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya next month, the temple trust informed on Wednesday.

Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai said that a 51-inch tall idol of Lord Ram reflecting a five-year-old child –Ram Lalla– would be selected among three designs. “The one which has the best divineness and will display a child look will be selected,” he said.

Champat Rai, while describing the map of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple said that a total of 21-22 lakh cubic feet of stone has been used in the construction of the entire structure. “Such a big stone structure would not have been built in Northern India even in the last 100-200 years, not even in the South,” he said.

“A foundation of 56-layered artificial rock, created by engineers, has been laid below the structure. Second, a plinth comprising 17000 granite blocks from Karnataka and Telangana has been laid up to 21 feet above the ground. Around five lakh cubic feet of pink colour sandstone from Bharatpur, Rajasthan have been used to construct the temple structure. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is made up of pure white Makrana marble, which is ready,” he told reporters here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22. Preparations are underway in full swing for the event, which will draw dignitaries and people from all walks of life.

The trust secretary said that the temple is being constructed on the northern part of the 70-acre land, handed over to Hindus by Supreme Court in 2019.

“Three-storeyed temple is being built here. Work for the ground floor of the temple is complete, the first floor is under construction. The temple is enclosed by a four-cornered wall –Prakara — with a running length of nearly 750 metres,” Rai said.

He said that the uniqueness of the wall protecting the temple is that it is 14 feet wide.

“The Prakara will also be double-storeyed, with devotees to be allowed to do the Parikrama (circumambulation) of the temple on the upper floor,” he said.

The Prakara is under construction and may take upto 6-8 months more, Rai added.

Briefing about the facilities for the pilgrims visiting the temple he said, “Locker facilities for 25,000 pilgrims have been made at Pilgrimage Facility Centre (PFC). A small hospital will also be built near the PFC. A huge complex has also been made for the pilgrims for toilets and other facilities, two sewer treatment plants are also being made here where the waste material from this complex will be treated.”

The Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra said that the electricity supply has been taken directly from the powerhouse.

“We have taken a direct dedicated line from the powerhouse, 33 KW, its receiving station and three distribution stations have been built inside the premises, there will be no pressure on the electrical line of the Municipal Corporation,” he added.

The trust secretary said that in case, the fire brigade needs water, then an underground water reservoir has also been dug near the structure.

“If needed, we will take water from the Saryu River or from the ground. But ground water will go into the ground only. Construction is underway in more than 20 acres of land here and there is greenery in 50 acres. These trees are a hundred years old. There are such dense forests where the sun’s rays do not reach the ground. So the water level of the land will never go down. Water will not go into Saryu, we are working on a zero discharge policy,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive at the temple city on Saturday to inaugurate the Ayodhya airport and the railway station, which is being revamped especially on the temple model. (ANI)

Ram Mandir is the Election Trump Card of BJP

‘Ram Mandir is the Election Trump Card of BJP for 2024’

Jaishanker Gupta, a veteran journalist and political observer, says the BJP will try to milk Ram Mandir issue to its maximum in the run-up to 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His views:

As the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple, slated to be on January 22, draws near, there is little doubt that the BJP will expect to milk it to the utmost for political gains. A leader of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stature will be attending the ceremony for obvious reasons. After all, it was the Ram Temple issue that catapulted the party to centre-stage in 1990.

Like previous elections, the ‘occasion’ is definitely being used for polarization of a particular section of vote that, by and large, stirs the ‘emotion’ every time for the saffron party. This has also been accepted by Modi who said that it is a good fortune that in his lifetime that he is witness to the building of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

It was also clear from Modi’s Dussehra speech when he declared that ‘the much awaited moment is about to come and Ram Lala will find his divine seat at his birthplace. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had also talked about the inauguration of the temple and had called upon people to be a part of the celebration. This clearly indicates that the issue is going to be one of the top election agenda for the party.

ALSO READ: A Hope From Ram Mandir

For the past few months, Modi had also been projecting the 2024 general elections as one of development and legacy and he has spoken about this on many occasions. BJP also believes that in the last few years, from reviving the heritage to taking many other new initiatives, a new spirit of identifying our roots and boasting about it has emerged in the country, which will benefit the party. It will not at all be wrong to say that in this sequence, the biggest bet is from Ram temple. Modi himself can give a big message by being present on this occasion and it is believed that BJP’s election campaign can also start from this occasion.

Though BJP top notch leaders deny it out rightly, some were bold enough to accept the importance and ‘usage’ of the issue. Late Sushma Swaraj once said that the Ram Mandir issue is like a bearer cheque that could be en-cashed only once (in the elections). Former BJP president late Kusha Bhau Thakre, while replying to a similar question, once said that a boat is only useful to cross a river and you cannot carry it on your shoulders once you have crossed the river.

The theme of every election is different and every party establishes its strongest point as a narrative in its own way. In such a situation, it is natural that BJP will present and use this opportunity for Hindu renaissance along with developmental issues in the next elections. The biggest advantage for them is that it will not be easy for the opposition parties to counter it.

As told to Rajat Rai
