Shraddha Father

Shraddha’s Father Accuses Maha Police Of Showing Laxity

Shraddha Walkar’s father Vikas Walkar, who appeared in the media for the first time since his daughter’s brutal murder, claimed on Friday that she would have been alive if the Maharashtra Police had helped him.

He alleged that the Vasai Police showed “laxity” in the investigation of the case, however, hailing the combined probe by the Delhi Police and the Vasai Police.
“The combined probe conducted by Delhi Police and Vasai police is going well. Still, Vasai Police, and Nalasopara Police showed laxity in the investigation which is unfortunate. Delhi Police assured us that we will get justice. My daughter was brutally murdered. I faced many problems because of the Vasai police, if they had helped me, my daughter would have been alive,” Vikas said while addressing a joint press conference with BJP leader Kirit Somaiya here.

He further sought the death penalty for Aaftab Poonawalla in the case and also demanded a probe against the family members and relatives of the accused.

“I expect a similar lesson for Aaftab Poonwala in the way he murdered my daughter. He should be hanged. A probe should be conducted against Aftab’s family members, relatives, and all others included in the incident,” he said.

Pointing out the drawbacks and misuse of some mobile applications (dating apps), he also sought “restrictions” on them.

“There should also be restrictions on some mobile apps. Children older than 18 yrs of age should be somewhat controlled and they should be given counseling. What happened to me shouldn’t happen to anyone else. I tried to talk with my daughter but she didn’t respond to me in the last two years. I was never told what was happening with my daughter,” he said.

Vikas claimed that he had a conversation with Shraddha in 2021 and Aaftab on September 26, however, he did not tell him about her whereabouts.

“The last time I had a conversation with Shraddha was in 2021. We talked about her whereabouts, she said that she was living in Bengaluru. I talked to Aaftab on September 26 when I asked him about my daughter, but he didn’t give an answer on it,” Vikas said.

He said that he was against the relationship between Shraddha and Aaftab and was unaware of the violence that she was subjected to.

“I was against the relationship of Shraddha Walker and Aaftab Poonawala. I was unaware of the domestic violence Shraddha was subjected to by Aaftab. I feel, his family members knew everything about what he was doing with her,” he said.

Blaming the dating apps, Vikas said that his daughter came in contact with Aaftab because of it.

“Aaftab pursued Shraddha to make up her mind to leave. It was because of dating apps that Shraddha came in contact with Aaftab,” he said.

Speaking to ANI, Shraddha’s father’s lawyer, Seema Kushwaha said that the dating apps should be monitored.

“Though people have the right to use dating apps, these dating apps should be monitored. There can be criminals and terrorists…I think names of Aaftab’s family members should be there in the charge sheet,” she said.

Earlier today, Saket Court in Delhi extended the judicial custody of Aaftab Amin Poonawala for 14 days said, officials.

He was produced through video conferencing in the court today.

The 28-year-old, who dismembered Shraddha’s body and stored the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before disposing of them in the forests of south Delhi’s Chhatarpur, is currently in Judicial custody.

Aaftab is accused of strangling to death his live-in partner Shraddha and chopping her body into 35 pieces. He is also alleged to have preserved the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before dumping them in forested areas in Delhi and Gurugram.

Suitcase With Body Parts Found In Haryana; Police Suspect Links With Shraddha Murder

The body remains recovered from a suitcase at a forest area in Haryana’s Faridabad on Thursday afternoon are suspected to be of the 27-year-old woman from Mumbai, Shraddha Walkar, who was killed by her live-in partner in Delhi.

Faridabad Police have contacted the Delhi Police following the recovery of the suitcase with body parts in the Surajkund forest area.
According to police, the remains were wrapped in a plastic bag and a sack, and clothes and a belt were also recovered near the suitcase.

Prima facie, it appeared that a person was murdered elsewhere and a part of the body was dumped here to avoid identification, Faridabad Police said in a statement.

Faridabad police have shared the information with Delhi police, and on the basis of which, a team of Mehrauli police of South Delhi, investigating the horrific Shraddha murder case, also reached the spot and joined the investigation.

Delhi police officials suspect that the body remains recovered from the suitcase could be linked with the Shraddha Walker murder case.

The body parts (including the torso) found in the suitcase appears to be months old, and it is not clear if they were of a man or woman, said sources.

They said that the body remains have been sent for post-mortem examination, and things will become clear once the post-mortem report is received.

“Faridabad police officials have also said that they will keep samples aside, in case Delhi police would want to go for a DNA test,” official sources told ANI.

Aaftab Amin Poonawalla, accused in the macabre Shraddha Walkar murder case, is currently in police custody and is undergoing Perceptual Ability Test (PAT) – a psychological analysis test.

Aaftab is accused of strangling Shraddha, his live-in partner, to death and chopping her body into 35 pieces. He is also alleged to have preserved the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before dumping them in the forests of south Delhi’s Chhatarpur.

Aaftab and Shraddha met on a dating site and moved in together to a rented accommodation in Chhatarpur as the relationship grew.

On receipt of the complaint from Shraddha’s father, Delhi Police registered an FIR on November 10 and arrested the accused later.

Subsequent interrogation of the accused revealed that Aaftab killed Shraddha on May 18 after which he started researching ways to dispose of the body.

He also borrowed ideas on disposal from popular crime shows on his streaming devices, Delhi Police revealed. He also told police that he read up on human anatomy before chopping his girlfriend’s body.

Police said after browsing on the internet for ways to remove all traces of his crime, Aaftab mopped blood stains from the floor of the couple’s Chhatarpur apartment with some chemicals and also disposed of all stained clothes.

He then shifted the body to the bathroom and bought a refrigerator where he hoarded the chopped body parts, police further informed. (ANI)

Sandeep Suicide Case: Can’t Connect It With Ticket, Says Sisodia

A day after Aam Aadmi Party leader Sandeep Bhardwaj’s body was found hanging at his residence in the national capital, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said it was wrong to allege the AAP leader took his life as he was denied a party ticket to contest the upcoming MCD polls.
Meanwhile, the BJP has alleged that Bhardwaj did not die by suicide but he was murdered.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Delhi deputy chief minister Sisodia said, “This is very sad. Sandeep ji was close to me too. He used to play a very important role in the trade wing. You cannot connect the death with ticket, it’s wrong.”

Sisodia was responding to a question that the AAP leader Bharadwaj committed suicide because he was denied ticket to contest the municipal corporation elections.

AAP’s trade wing secretary was found dead at his Rajouri Garden residence on Thursday, police said.

BJP leader Manoj Tiwari today alleged that Bhardwaj did not die by suicide.

“I believe it is not suicide but murder. Sandeep Bhardwaj was assured ticket. Evidence doesn’t make it look like suicide. It’s also coming to the knowledge that a ticket for that seat was sold. Abetting suicide is also like murder. AAP chief and leadership have committed sin,” said Tiwari.

Bhardwaj was taken to “Kukreja hospital” by one of his friends, Delhi Police said.

Delhi Police said that a PCR call was received from Kukreja Hospital, Rajouri Garden at 4.40 pm yesterday about 55 year-old Sandeep Bhardwaj being brought dead due to hanging at his residence.

A crime team reached the spot of the crime and inquest proceedings under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were initiated.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday expressed grief over Bhardwaj’s death and offered his condolences.

“Extremely saddened by the sudden death of Aam Aadmi Party worker Sandeep Bhardwaj in Delhi. May God give his soul a place at his holy feet. My condolences to his family members in this hour of grief and the entire party stands with the family members of Sandeep ji in this difficult time,” tweeted CM Kejriwal.
