Khalistan Karanvir Singh

Interpol Issues Red Corner For Khalistan Leader Karanvir Singh

The International Criminal Police Organization, commonly known as Interpol, on Monday issued a Red Corner Notice against Karanvir Singh, a member of the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International.

Interpol updated its website by putting out a Red Corner Notice for the Khalistani leader.

According to intelligence sources, Singh is believed to be hiding in Pakistan and was a member of the pro-Khalistan terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International.

As per the Interpol portal, 38-year-old Karanvir Singh has roots in Punjab’s Kapurthala district.

Further, according to Interpol, Singh is wanted by India for criminal conspiracy, murder, offences related to the Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act, raising funds for terrorist acts, conspiracy, and being a member of a terrorist gang or organisation.

A Red Corner Notice is a request to the law enforcement authorities of Interpol’s member countries to find and temporarily detain a person until extradition, surrender, or a similar legal process can take place.

Earlier, Interpol issued a Red Notice to all member countries against gangster Himanshu alias Bhau, who is believed to be living abroad.

Giving details, a spokesman of Haryana Police said Rohtak Police succeeded in getting a Red Corner Notice issued against a most wanted accused, who is believed to have fled abroad.

The Red Corner Notice against the wanted pro-Khalistani leader comes amid a diplomatic spat between New Delhi and Ottawa in the wake of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claim of an India hand in the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

New Delhi dismissed the allegations, calling them ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’.

At a news conference in New York, the Canadian PM, however, failed to present any evidence to back his claim of Indian involvement in Nijjar’s killing. Trudeau was repeatedly quizzed on the nature of the allegations but stuck to reiterating that there were “credible reasons” to believe that India was linked to Nijjar’s death.

“There are credible reasons to believe that agents of the Government of India were involved in the killing of a Canadian on Canadian soil. That is …there is something of utmost foundational importance in a country’s rule of law in a world where international rules-based order matters,” Trudeau said.

“We call upon the Government of India to take seriously this matter and to work with us to shed full transparency and ensure accountability and justice in this matter,” the Canadian PM added.

According to CBC News, the Canadian government invested both human and signal intelligence in a months-long investigation into Nijjar’s death. That intelligence includes communications involving Indian diplomats present in Canada.

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday, however, said no information has been shared by Canada with regard to the killing of Nijjar.

“We are willing to look at any specific information that is provided to us, but so far we have received no specific information from Canada,” Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said during a briefing.

A designated terrorist in India, Nijjar was shot dead outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18. (ANI)

Pakistan Caretaker PM Kakar

Pak PM Kakar Raises Kashmir At UNGA, India To Reply On Saturday

Pakistan caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar on Friday predictably raised the Kashmir bogey in his speech at the UN General Assembly. Kakar claimed that the Jammu and Kashmir issue is among the longest-standing items on the UN agenda.

Kakar’s remarks came during his address to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York today. He said, “Pakistan desires peaceful and productive relations with all our neighbours including India,” and added that “Kashmir is the key to peace between Pakistan and India.”

India has repeatedly raised its concern over Pakistan’s support of cross-border terrorism and has asserted that terror and talks cannot go together.

India has also provided evidence at various international forums of Pakistan’s support for Terrorist groups.

Pakistan’s caretaker PM however harped on what he called the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

“India has evaded implementation of the security council’s resolutions which call for the final disposition of Jammu and Kashmir to be decided by its people through UN-supervised plebiscite. Since August 2019, India has deployed 900,000 troops in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to impose the final solution for Kashmir,” Kakar claimed.

Following the Indian government’s decision in August 2019 to abolish Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcating it into two Union territories- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Pakistan government, then led by Imran Khan, expelled India’s ambassador to Islamabad and halted bilateral trade.

India has already made it clear after the Pulwama attack in 2019 that it wants normal bilateral ties with Pakistan, adding that it is incumbent upon them to create a conducive environment free from terrorism and hostilities.

Earlier in August, former Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif had shown his willingness to talk to India.

“With our neighbours, we are prepared to talk to them, provided that the neighbour is serious to talk on serious matters on the table because war is no more an option. Pakistan is a nuclear power, not as an aggressor but for our defence purposes. We had three wars fought in the last 75 years. And what happened is it generates more poverty, unemployment, and lack of resources” PM Sharif had stated.

Following this, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that India wanted neighbourly ties with Pakistan but there should be an atmosphere free from terror and violence for such a relationship.

During a weekly briefing, the MEA spokesperson had said “We have seen reports regarding the comments by the Pakistan PM on this issue. India’s clear and consistent position is well known that we desire normal relations with all our neighbouring countries including Pakistan. For this environment free of terror and hostility is imperative.”

India will now have the right to reply to Pakistan’s speech at the UNGA on Saturday morning and a sharp rejoinder is expected. (ANI)

Nawaz Sharif

Nawaz Sharif To Return To Pakistan On Oct 21: Shehbaz

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that his brother and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is set to arrive in Pakistan on October 21, Pakistan-based Geo News reported. He said that the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Amendment case has nothing to do with his cases.

Shehbaz Sharif made the remarks after holding a legal session, attended by Nawaz Sharif, Suleman Sharif and lawyers Azam Nazir Tarar, Amjad Pervez and Attaullah Tarar. He said that the cases against Nawaz Sharif were made on false grounds and were politically motivated, according to Geo News report.

He said that cases against Nawaz Sharif were made on false grounds and were politically motivated. He said, “There is no legal merit in the cases framed against Nawaz Sharif and he has never relied on the new NAB laws. He will be in Pakistan on October 21.”

Sharif criticised Pakistan’s outgoing Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and said he made controversial and political decisions that benefited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan. He alleged that Bandial went out of his way to help Imran Khan and violated his oath.

Shehbaz Sharif asked, “The 2-1 decision he gave is regrettable. To a great extent, he has restored a dictator’s black law. When Imran Khan changed NAB law through a presidential order to give NRO to his sidekicks, where was Bandial? Why didn’t he act like this at that time? That Ordinance was for four months and Imran Khan’s sponsors benefitted from that. That was a classic example of Niazi-NAB collusion,” Geo News reported.

PML-N President said that Pakistan was harmed through a conspiracy that brought Khan to power and the country’s journey to prosperity and progress halted. He said that if given a clear mandate again, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif will take Pakistan’s economy to the level where it was in 2017 when he was ousted for not taking a salary from his son.

Speaking about Raja Riaz’s inclusion into the PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif said that he and his brother welcomed the former PTI lawmaker and opposition leader Raja Riaz into the party.

Shehbaz Sharif said, “We have welcomed Raja Riaz into PML-N. For 16 months, he was leader of the opposition in the national assembly. I hope his joining will strengthen the party.” Riaz thanked Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif for trusting him.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s former law minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that Nawaz Sharif after his return to Pakistan will face all cases in respect of the courts.

Taking a dig at Imran Khan, Tarar said: “Nawaz Sharif will not put a bucket on his head. He will appear in the courts smiling and he will be vindicated on merit. There is no substance in the false cases made against him,” Geo News reported.

He further said, “We will work in accordance with the law. We will not attack the courts and we will not do anything to evade the course of justice as was seen recently. There will be open hearings and the truth will be established.”

Earlier, PML-N Deputy Secretary General Attaullah Tarar said that Nawaz Sharif’s planned return to Pakistan on October 21 will not be affected by the Supreme Court’s decision on PTI chief’s petition challenging amendments made to the country’s accountability laws during the tenure of the previous Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government. He said there was overwhelming evidence that Nawaz Sharif was an innocent man and “no case is a hindrance in his way of return to Pakistan. (ANI)

Election Commission Pakistan imran fawad

Pakistan EC Decides To Frame Charges Against Imran, Fawad

The Election Commission of Pakistan has taken the decision to frame charges against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry in a contempt case, Pakistan-based Dawn reported.

According to the ECP’s cause list, the electoral body has fixed September 26 as the date for the case. According to the electoral watchdog’s cause list, the charges that will be framed against former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry are for contempt of the ECP and the chief election commissioner, according to Dawn report.

Meanwhile, ECP will frame charges of contempt of the electoral watchdog against Asad Umar. The three leaders have been asked to appear in person. The case has witnessed twists and turns ever since its initiation last year by ECP against PTI chairman, then secretary general Asad Umar and senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry.

On the same day, Pakistan’s electoral watchdog will resume hearing in a case pertaining to the confiscation of PTI’s ‘prohibited funding’. The case is fixed for submission of a detailed response to the ECP notice, Dawn reported.

On September 14, a  special court rejected the bail applications of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and the party’s vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cypher case, Pakistan-based Geo News reported.

Special court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the bail applications and reserved the verdict after PTI’s counsels completed their arguments. Later, the judge announced the reserved verdict, rejecting the post-arrest bail pleas of the PTI leaders.

Earlier in the day, the same court formed under the Official Secrets Act gave approval PTI leader Asad Umar’s bail in the case related to US cipher after a prosecutor told the judge that his arrest was not required at this stage, Geo News reported.

Judge Zulqarnain approved the PTI leader’s bail against the surety bond of Pakistani Rupees (PKR) 50,000 and also noted that Umar expressed willingness to join the cipher probe but the prosecution did not investigate him in the case. (ANI)

G20 Summit

They Were Successful In Showcasing India Before World: Pak Locals Praising G20 Summit

Locals in Pakistan reserved high praise for India for successfully hosting the 18th G20 Leaders’ Summit.

The big-ticket event, which drew heads of state of over 30 countries and delegates of leading international organisations, was hosted over two days — September 9 and 10 — at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan.

The two-day mega huddle saw the G20 members states adopt the New Delhi Declaration by consensus. The declaration even had a reference to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, with the members, while not outrightly condemning Russia, called on all coutries to refrain from using force to grab territory.

Among other key takeaways from the summit were announcement of an India-Middle East-Europe trade corridor and the formal induction of the African Union (AU) as a full member of the G20.

Speaking to ANI, a Karachi local was effusive in his praise for India over its conduct of the G20, saying, “When heads of the top 20 countries visit a country, it is an honour for that nation. Indian economy will derive many benefits out of it (G20).”

India took over the G20 presidency on December 1 last year at the summit in Bali and will continue to hold the mantle till the end of November.

However, on the concluding day of the summit, PM Modi handed over the gavel of the G20 Presidency to Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

Another Pakistani local lamented the global isolation of Pakistan, saying, “The fact that India hosted the heads of the major economies also, in a way, casts a negative light on our foreign policy. Our economy and security situation have deteriorated significantly over the last 5-6 years. The world has sidelined us.”

The New Delhi Declaration was adopted on the inaugural day of the summit.

Another local from Lahore questioned the host country, India, over inviting Bangladesh to the summit and not Pakistan.

Prime Minister Modi had formally invited his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina to attend the G20 summit.

“At a time when we are desperately trying to lift our economy from the dumps, India played host to leaders of the 20 major economies of the world. The succesfully conduct of the global event would have filled the Indians with pride. We all saw pictures from India, of (PM) Modi posing with world leaders. They were successful in showcasing India in a positive light before a global audience. The ‘Shezada’ of Saudi Arabia (Crown Prince Salman) didn’t come here (to Pakistan) but went to India for the G20 Summit. This shows the growing importance of India for the world. It was also surprising that Bangladesh was invited but Pakistan wasn’t.”

Earlier, Pakistani media outlet Geo News had reported, citing sources, that the Saudi crown prince was to visit Pakistan in the second week of September.

According to the report, during visit visit, Crown Prince Salman was expected to meet the country’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir. (ANI)

Nawaz Sharif Shehbaz Pakistan

Nawaz Sharif To Return To Pakistan On October 21: Shehbaz

Amid speculations, Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed on Tuesday that his elder brother and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan on October 21, Geo News reported.

This comes ahead of the upcoming elections in Pakistan, after the National Assembly was dissolved last month.

“Nawaz Sharif will reach Pakistan on October 21,” Shehbaz told Geo News on Tuesday.

The statement came after a meeting of the PML-N’s top leadership headed by Nawaz in London.

Nawaz —  who has been in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019 owing to health reasons — was disqualified for life in 2017 by the Supreme Court for not declaring a receivable salary.

While speaking to the media after the high-level party huddle in London, Shehbaz said that the date for Nawaz’s return was finalised after consultation with the party members.

He added that the credit for Pakistan’s attainment of nukes, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the ending 20 hours of electricity load-shedding in the country “goes to Nawaz”.

Shehbaz added the journey of development will continue from where Nawaz had left in 2017 when he was removed from power under a false and baseless case. “Nawaz wasn’t deprived of power but Pakistan’s people were deprived of development and prosperity.”

When asked about the PML-N’s stance if the elections are not conducted on time, the former premier said that “holding polls is the Election Commission of Pakistan’s constitutional responsibility and he hopes that the electoral watchdog will fulfil its responsibility fairly”, Geo News reported.

The London meeting was attended by Suleman Shehbaz, Hassan Nawaz, former federal minister Khawaja Asif, Malik Mohammad Ahmed Khan and Nasir Janjua.

The party’s strategy regarding the election, Nawaz’s return and the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) stance on the elections also came under discussion, according to Geo News. (ANI)

India Pakistan Asia Cup

Team India Beat Pakistan With Record Margin In Asia Cup Super Four

Fiery centuries from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul followed by Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul powered India to 228 runs win over their traditional rival Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 Super Four clash here at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday.

Kuldeep bagged his second ODI five-for as India clinched a huge 228-run win – Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf didn’t come out to bat in Pakistan’s chase. With this mammoth victory, India clinched the top spot in of Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s table.

Defending a challenging target of 356, India pacer Jasprit Bumrah breathed fire in the 5th over of the game as he removed opener Imam-ul-Haq, giving Pakistan a big blow. All-rounder Hardik Pandya bamboozled Babar Azam with an absolute ripper in the 11th over of the game.

Shardul Thakur bowled a peach to get the better of Mohammad Rizwan. It was bowled around off stump but the ball shaped away from Rizwan, who closed the face of his bat and got an outside edge. KL Rahul comfortably collected the ball behind the stumps. Rizwan departed for two runs off 5 balls, leaving Pakistan in great trouble.

The Indian pacers continue to trouble Pakistan batters with some amazing movement on the ball. Fakhar Zaman was getting restless as the required run rate was going high for Pakistan. He tried to take on Kuldeep Yadav and perished in the process. It was a fuller ball from Kuldeep that rattled the stumps. Fakhar departed after scoring 27 runs off 50 balls.

In the 21st over of the game, Agha Salman got seriously injured as he was hit on his face by the ball on the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja.

The Pakistan batter Salman walked to play a sweep shot but missed the ball completely which caught him plumb in front of the stumps on the delivery of Kuldeep. Salman took a review but ball tracking suggested that would have clipped the leg stump.

Kuldeep picked his third wicket as Shadab Khan was caught by Shardul Thakur in the deep and left Pakistan tottering at 111/6 after 28 overs.

Kuldeep broke Pakistan’s back as he picked his fourth wicket of the match, removing Iftikhar Ahmed for 23.

The Indian spinner bowled Faheem Ashraf to complete his fifer and the match ended with India winning by a huge margin of 228 runs as Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, who went off while fielding with niggles, did not come out to bat.

Earlier, Virat Kohli’s vintage performance and KL Rahul’s unbridled century powered India to 356/2 against arch-rivals Pakistan in their Asia Cup Super Four clash.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s half-centuries laid the foundation for India, while the unbeaten 233-run partnership between Kohli and Rahul added the icing on the cake as the former skipper finished the innings in style with a maximum.

Kohli finished his innings with an unbeaten 122, which came from 94 deliveries, while Rahul smashed a fiery 111 of 106 balls.

Brief score: India 356/2 (Virat Kohli 122*, KL Rahul 111; Shaheen Afridi 1-79) vs Pakistan 128  (Fakhar Zaman 27, Agha Salman 23; Kuldeep Yadav 5-25). (ANI)

Kohli Runs In ODIs

Kohli Breaks Sachin’s Record, Becomes Fastest Player To Reach 13,000 Runs In ODIs

India’s batting talisman Virat Kohli on Monday created a record by becoming the fastest to reach 13,000 runs in the ODI format.

Kohli achieved the milestone during the Asia Cup Super 4 clash against arch-rival Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday.

He broke a long-standing Sachin Tendulkar record during a brilliant ODI knock against Pakistan.

Kohli is the fifth player to reach the landmark in men’s ODIs.

Apart from Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene are the other cricketers to reach the milestone.

Tendulkar took 321 innings to get to the mark and Kohli has reached the milestone in 267 innings. Ponting (341) and Sangakkara (363) also took over 300 innings while Jayasuriya reached the mark in 416 innings.

Kohli is also the only batter among the five to average over 50. With 47 ODI hundreds, Kohli is also just two away from equalling Tendulkar’s record tally of ODI tons. (ANI)

India vs Pak Match

India vs Pak: Cut-Off Time Extended To 90 Min

The cut-off time for the rain-curtailed India and Pakistan clash at the Asia Cup on Sunday has been extended from 60 minutes to 90 minutes along with the possibility of a 20-over run-chase scenario as well.

As per the latest updates, the cut-off time for the game for time is now 12 am (local time) and the 20-over clash between the two sides can begin as late as 10.36 pm (local time), ESPNcricinfo reported, adding that the next inspection will take place at 7.30 pm.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Indian head coach Rahul Dravid were on the field, inspecting the puddles of waterIndia left by the rain.

Earlier in the day, for the second time this Asia Cup, rain played spoilsport in a clash involving traditional rivals India and Pakistan, as the blockbuster Super Four clash at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was halted after heavy showers forced the ground staff to bring on the covers.

India, given a flying start by the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, were sitting pretty at 147 for the loss of 2 wickets when the heavens intervened.

However, before the teams were forced back to the dressing rooms, Rohit and Shubman put on a show smacking the Pakistani bowlers to all corners in a whirlwind partnership of 121 runs.

Shaheen Shaf Afridi and Shadab Khan claimed a wicket apiece to bring the Pakistanis back into the game after the India openers sent them on a leather hunt in the initial overs.

Rohit (56) fell to a soft dismissal off Shadab while Gill (58) perished in the next over, failing to read a slower one from Shaheen and lobbing a catch to Agha Salman at extra cover.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then came together and looked to have stabilised the innings when rain interrupted play. Kohli (8)* and KL Rahul (17)* were undefeated at the crease when the umpires called a halt to the proceedings.

Earlier, in the tournament, both teams squared off in the group stage, with India posting a total of 266 in the first innings. However, rain washed out the game thereafter.

However, unlike the last clash, a reserve day was announced for the Super Four clash by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Friday.

If there is no further action in the Super Four clash on Sunday, the match will resume on Monday from the point where it was halted.

India will resume their innings from 147/2 in 24.1 overs, with Virat and Rahul unbeaten. (ANI)

Shoaib Akhtar about team india

I Don’t Feel Indian Team Is Settled: Shoaib

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar feels that India has struggled to pick their final eleven for the past two years which has left the team unsettled.

India’s efforts to pick up a balanced middle-order has posed a major challenge for the team due to injuries, availability of player and many other reasons.

Since Rahul Dravid assumed the position of India’s men’s team head coach, experimentation has been a regular occurrence for the team hoping to find a set-up that works effectively in the batting and bowling department.

Ishan Kishan who is prominently recognised as an opener is now featuring in the middle order. Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya come out to bat according to the situation of India’s innings. The Indian pace trio has also undergone many changes over the past two years.

The veteran speedster feels that the change in positions has left numerous questions than giving away answers.

“I don’t know why I have this feeling that India could not pick its final eleven for the past two years? I don’t feel the team is settled because now you all have injuries, three or four people have been replaced and your squad seems unsettled. It’s a strange thing for me that the squad doesn’t seem settled. We still don’t know who are the four main batsmen and who will bat at No.5, will Virat bat at No. 3 or 4?,” Shoaib Akhtar said during a virtual press conference organised by Star Sports.

He also went on to express his dissatisfaction over Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh’s absence from the Indian team.

The former pacer reflected on how India needs to strengthen their bowling department rather than focusing on adding depth to their batting line-up.

“How they have not selected Chahal is beyond me. And again, I think Arshdeep needed to be in the squad because under pressure, when you are playing against someone like Pakistan, then you need that left-handed seamer. But the problem with the Indian team is that when they get out for 150 or 200, it’s not the batsmen but the bowlers who will have to perform. How long will you stretch your batting line-up? If the first five batsmen couldn’t do anything, then what will the No. 7 or No. 8 do? So, I literally believe that you’re playing with one bowler less,” Shoaib said.

The Rawalpindi Express also talked about the Hardik-Nehra duo that has been slowly building in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the past two years.

The player-management duo’s hunger to strive for success has been quite evident since they combined together for the IPL franchise Gujarat Titans.

“Hardik Pandya again, he turns out to be an asset for India. If we look at his all-round performance, then you feel as a captain, along with Ashish Nehra, he has taken his IPL side to such heights. He took his team to a final and won it and then reached the finals again next year. I think the combination of these two – Ashish Nehra and Pandya as a captain – can take India to new heights,” Shoaib added. (ANI)
