Son-In-Law Will Do Best For UK: Narayana Murthy On Rishi Sunak

NR Narayana Murthy, Infosys founder and father-in-law of next UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak congratulated his son-in-law as he exuded confidence that the first Indian-origin PM will do his best for the people of the United Kingdom.

An Oxford, and Stanford University alumnae, Sunak is famously married to Akshata Murthy, the daughter of billionaire Narayana Murthy.
“Congratulations to Rishi. We are proud of him and we wish him success. We are confident he will do his best for the people of the United Kingdom,” Infosys founder said in a statement.

On Monday, Britain’s Conservative Party announced Rishi Sunak as their leader. Thereby, Rishi Sunak is now set to become the first Asian-origin person to lead the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rishi Sunak on Monday and said he is looking forward to working closely together on global issues.

“Warmest congratulations @RishiSunak! As you become UK PM, I look forward to working closely together on global issues, and implementing Roadmap 2030. Special Diwali wishes to the ‘living bridge’ of UK Indians, as we transform our historic ties into a modern partnership,” PM Modi tweeted.

Sunak’s change in fate was triggered by the resignation of Truss after her high-profile sacking and resignation in her cabinet, following a heavily criticized mini-budget that left the UK pound tumbling.

Following Truss’s short stint as British prime minister, Rishi Sunak and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson were seen as frontrunners for the UK PM bid.

But Boris Johnson ruled himself out of the Conservative party leadership race despite claiming he had the required support. The former UK PM said he had come to the conclusion that “this would simply not be the right thing to do” as “you can’t govern effectively unless you have a united party in Parliament.”

Sunak is born in Southampton to parents of Indian descent who migrated to Britain from East Africa.

Earlier in April, reports of Akshata’s non-domicile status and alleged tax evasion had created a furor. Sunak had said his wife has been paying all taxes. Her spokesperson had earlier said that Akshata Murthy “has always and will continue to pay UK taxes on all her UK income”. (ANI)

PM In Kargil For Diwali, Says Female Officers Will Add To Army Power

Highlighting the reforms in armed forces by the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the induction of women officers will boost the country’s strength.

Prime Minister landed in Kargil on Monday to celebrate Diwali with soldiers. “For me, all of you have been my family for years now. It is a privilege to spend Diwali with our brave jawans in Kargil,” Prime Minister Modi said.

“Over the last eight years, we have laid emphasis on implementing reforms in the armed forces. We have open positions in the forces for women. Women’s power will strengthen our armed forces. The induction of women officers under ‘permanent commission’ will result in the growth of our power,” he said.

PM said the armed forces are the pillar of the country’s safety and security. “A nation is safe when the border is secure, the economy is strong and the society is full of confidence. India wishes this festival of lights paves way for global peace,”

He said it is because the armed forces are protecting borders that every citizen in India sleeps peacefully.

“From this victorious land of Kargil, I wish the countrymen and the world a very happy Diwali. There has not been a single war with Pakistan where Kargil has not hoisted the flag of victory. Diwali means ‘festival of end of terror’ and Kargil made it possible. Our Army in Kargil crushed the fountainhead of terror and people till date remember the Diwali of victory the country celebrated,” Prime Minister said.

He said while the jawans are protecting the borders, every citizen in the country is working towards strengthening the nation.

“Just like all of you are protecting us at the borders, we are working within the country to fight evils like terrorism, Naxalism, corruption. ‘Naxawad’ had taken a huge part of the nation in its grasp, but today that stretch is rapidly decreasing,” PM Modi said.

During the Ukraine war, he said. The Tricolour became a shield for Indian stranded there. “India’s respect has increased across the world. It is happening because India is standing successfully against its internal and external enemies,” he added.

Prime Minister said the Centre is developing hi-tech infrastructure in the border areas with seamless connectivity.

He said in the age of technology armed forces are ready, with new training, new reforms and new technology

“I commend all the three armed forces who have decided that over 400 types of defence equipment will not be imported but rather be built in India. When our jawans fight with made-in-India weapons, they will not only feel proud but also have an element of surprise to defeat the enemy,” he said.

PM Modi said when India’s strength rises, it is beneficial for global peace and prosperity. (ANI)

Preparations For Modi's Rally

K’taka Min Inspect Preparations For Modi’s Rally On Nov 11

Three ministers of the state government visited the BIA on Saturday and inspected the progress of the preparation with regard to the public address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11.

Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister and Vice-Chairperson of Kempe Gowda Heritage Area Development Authority, member of the Authority Minister R Ashoka, and Bangalore Rural district in-charge minister Dr. K Sudhakar visited the spot on the instructions of Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai.
They also discussed the suitable venue for the public address by the Prime Minister. They visited the “Arena Complex’ spread in 40 acres which is in proximity to the statue and the other venue near the airport railway station.

“They opined that the place near the railway station is quite far off from the statue from where the statue is not visible. However, the final decision would be taken after consulting with the Chief Minister,” an official statement said.

Minister Sudhakar tweeted, “On November 11, Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi will unveil the ‘Statue of Progress’ of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda and perform Bhumi Puja for the construction of the theme park. For that, the work of collecting holy dead is already in progress across the state.”

free Country From Revdi Culture

Population Has Resolved To Free Country From Revdi Culture: Modi

In a reference to freebie politics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that a large section of the population has “resolved to free the country from revdi culture”.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came while participating in the ‘Griha Pravesh’ of more than 4.5 lakh beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) in Madhya Pradesh via video conference.
PM Modi highlighted the government’s investment of the tax-payers money into the welfare schemes such as the PMAY-G scheme and said that the tax-payers would be delighted to see their money being spent on the poor.

“When I am giving 4 lakh houses, every tax-payer would think that some poor person from Madhya Pradesh is also celebrating Diwali besides me because of the new house. But when the same tax-payer sees that free revdis (freebies) are being distributed with the money collected from him, he becomes disappointed. A lot of taxpayers are writing letters to me today. I am glad that a big section of the country has resolved to free the country from revdi culture,” PM Modi said.

He has highlighted the revdi culture numerous times in the past stating that it is “very dangerous” for the development of the country.

The Prime Minister further stressed that the new houses that were allotted to the beneficiaries will not let the poverty increase and also remove the little poverty left.

“The house that you have got is not only a place to live, eat and sleep, but it is a fort that won’t let poverty penetrate and will also remove remaining poverty,” he said.

Underlining the difference between the previous governments and the present administration, the Prime Minister said that earlier the poor were made to visit the offices repeatedly, but now the government is reaching out to the poor.

“There is a difference between the earlier and present governments. The previous governments used to pester people. The poor were made to visit the offices repeatedly. Our government is reaching out to the poor. The government is carrying out a campaign so that the poor benefit from every scheme. Today we are talking about saturation,” PM Modi said.

He said that the slogan to eradicate poverty remained only the political promise, while the Centre is providing basic facilities to every citizen of the country.

“Why are we in such a hurry? There is a lesson in the past. The basic facilities (gas cylinder, health facilities, toilet, internet connectivity, etc) were kept in abeyance in the past decades. A large chunk of the population struggled for these basic facilities. Promises to eradicate poverty were only political promises. We decided to connect every citizen of the country with the basic facilities to overcome poverty. Today, the poor, after getting the facilities, are making efforts to reduce their poverty,” PM Modi said.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, about 38 lakh houses have been sanctioned so far in Madhya Pradesh and construction of about 29 lakh houses has been completed at a cost of more than Rs 35,000 crore. (ANI)

Dhami Gifts Modi A Traditional Brahma Kamal Carved Cap

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday left for the national capital from Jolly Grant airport in Uttarakhand after his two-day long visit to the state.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gifted PM Modi famous sweets from Almora and a cap with a Brahma kamal flower embossed on it.

During his visit to the state, PM Modi pitched for the Vocal for Local initiative and appealed to people, especially tourists to spend their money on locally-made products.

In his address at a public event in Badrinath’s Mana, the last village bordering China, PM Modi said that every village located in the border areas will be now considered as the first village of India.

PM Modi also attended the ‘Saras Mela’ in Mana village and interacted with the local artisans and visited the stalls in the Mela.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for road widening projects worth around Rs 1,000 crore.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two road widening projects – from Mana to Mana Pass (NH07) and from Joshimath to Malari (NH107B) – shall be another step towards providing last-mile all-weather road connectivity to our border areas. Apart from boosting connectivity, these projects will also prove beneficial from a strategic point of view as well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after offering prayers to Lord Shiva in Badrinath, reviewed the progress of development work of the riverfront here.

Before arriving in Badrinath, PM Modi visited Kedarnath Dham in Rudraprayag and offered prayers donning a traditional pahadi outfit, Chola Dora, that was gifted to him by Himachali women during his tour to the state.

PM Modi arrived at Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun earlier in the day and was received by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh.

He later laid the foundation stone of the Kedarnath ropeway project and after that visited the Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal and also reviewed the progress of development works along Mandakini Asthapath and Saraswati Asthapath.

PM Modi then interacted with the construction workers engaged in the Kedarnath Dham development project.

In Kedarnath, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a ropeway project, which will be around 9.7 km long and will connect Gaurikund to Kedarnath, thus reducing the travel time between the two places from 6-7 hours at present to only about 30 minutes.

This ropeway is estimated to cost Rs 2,430 crore.

The Hemkund ropeway will connect Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib. It will be around 12.4 km long and will reduce the travel time from more than a day to only about 45 mins. This ropeway will also connect Ghangaria, which is the gateway to Valley of Flowers National Park, said the PMO statement.

The ropeways, which will be developed at a cumulative cost of around Rs 2,430 crore, are an environmentally friendly mode of transport that will provide a safe, secure, and stable mode of transport. This major infrastructure development will give a boost to religious tourism, which will give a fillip to the economic development in the region and lead to the creation of multiple employment opportunities as well.

PM Modi will now visit Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on the eve of Diwali to celebrate the Deepotsav festival here. (ANI)
