MLAs after Karnataka Assembly

10 BJP MLAs Suspended After Ruckus In K’taka Assembly Session

Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader on Wednesday suspended 10 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs after the Assembly on Wednesday plunged into chaos with unruly scenes following angry BJP lawmakers tore copies of bills and threw them at Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani’s face.

BJP MLAs Ashwathnarayan, Sunil Kumar, R Ashok, Vedavya Kamath, Yashpal Suvarna, Dheeraj Muniraj, Umanath Kotian, Aravind Bellad, Araga Jnanendra and Bharath Shetty are among those suspended from attending session till Friday for allegedly misbehaving in the House.
The BJP MLAs have been suspended for disrupting the proceedings of the Assembly session. The MLAs created a ruckus over the Congress-led state government’s decision to depute IAS officers for Opposition Meeting held in Bengaluru on July 17 and 18.

However, the BJP and JDS have given notice to move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker.

BJP MLAs even threw papers on Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani for allowing budget discussion when the House was not in order.

Meanwhile, former Home Minister and BJP leader Araga Jnanaendra said it is a democratic right to protest and added that they will continue the protest.

“It’s a democratic right to protest, we were protesting against deploying IAS officers to welcome some people who came to attend political events, some of them are also on bail after involving in criminal activity. That’s why we are demanding an apology from the Government. The Deputy Speaker was also not respecting our protest. We’ll continue our protest”, Jnanaendra said.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara called the incident unfortunate and said that nobody prevents anyone from protesting but there is some basic discipline that they (BJP MLAs) have to follow.

“…It is unfortunate. We have laid out some guidelines, some rules in the house. House rules are there. Nobody prevents them to go and protest…But there is some basic discipline that they have to follow, attacking the chair is something we don’t see in the Karnataka legislature…And this has happened. It is unfortunate and we also appeal to the speaker to take some action. Otherwise, if it is let go, I don’t think our houses will run properly…”, Parameshwara said. (ANI)

Why BJP Suddenly Revived Idea Of NDA: Omar

As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided to hold a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the National Capital on Tuesday, coinciding with the Opposition party meeting which was convened in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah slammed the party for ‘suddenly reviving the idea of NDA’.

“When was the last time an NDA meeting was held? Why have they (BJP) suddenly revived the idea of NDA? For them (BJP) alliance has become a necessity…,” Omar Abdullah said while talking to the reporters here.
Omar Abdullah was among the leaders of 26 like-minded parties that were part of the second Opposition meeting held in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

A meeting of 38 parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was convened in the national capital on Tuesday.

On the other hand, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti who was also representing the Union Territory with Abdullah said that everything on which the country stands is at stake.

“This is not a time for us to be proud of whatever is happening in the country because people outside our country are pointing fingers at us… So I think today our country, not only internally we are going through a turmoil where the very existence on which our country stands, everything is at stake,” Mufti said.

The second and concluding day of the opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru was held, with 26 like-minded parties closing ranks with a common aim of taking on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next year’s Lok Sabha polls.

In the meeting, it was decided that the Opposition front will be known as

I.N.D.I.A – the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.

On Tuesday, while addressing the media after the meeting, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Earlier, we were UPA and now all the 26 parties have given a name to the opposition and that is – Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). Everybody has agreed upon this, and the resolution for the name was passed unanimously.”

He further said, “The BJP wants to destroy democracy, Constitution, using autonomous bodies like CBI, ED, vigilance all such institutions against opposition party leaders and workers. This is a grave situation. We have come together to save this situation. How to save the country and the people of the country — this is the issue before us.”

Asked who will lead the alliance, Kharge said, “We are making a coordination committee of 11. At that meeting in Mumbai, we will decide on who the 11 will be, who the Convenor will be, etc. These are small things”.

Kharge further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid of opposition parties coming together.

“NDA is holding a meeting with 30 parties. I have not heard about so many parties in India. Earlier they didn’t hold any meetings but now they are meeting one by one (with NDA parties) PM Modi is now afraid of opposition parties. We have gathered here to save democracy and the Constitution,” Kharge said. (ANI)

UPA For Nadda

UPA Stands For Utpidan, Pakshpat, Atyachar: Nadda

Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda on Sunday took a swipe at the Congress saying that UPA stands for “utpidan, pakshpat and atyachar” (oppression, biasedness and atrocity” while his party is trying to protect the culture.

“We are trying to protect the culture and do development work, but there is an obstacle in that development, that is oppression, tyranny, favouritism and corruption within the Rajasthan government by CM Ashok Gehlot. In UPA – U stands for oppressive government. P – partisan government. A-tyrannical government,” Nadda said while addressing a public gathering in Jairpur.
Addressing a rally after launching the BJP’s “Nahi Sahega Rajasthan” campaign against the Congress government, Nadda called the Ashok Gehlot government a rule of “loot”.

“This government loots and tortures people and has broken all records of atrocities against Dalits, tribals, women, children and the poor. This is a government of looters, atrocities and misrule,” he added.

He further claimed that more than 8,000 cases have been registered against Dalits here in 2022.

“In 2022 alone, more than 8,000 cases have been registered against Dalits here. The Rajasthan government has done the work of demolishing the houses of refugees from Pakistan with bulldozers in furtherance of favouritism and vote bank politics. The Gehlot government is also doing the work of settling Rohingyas here,” the BJP President said.

He further said that the Gehlot government has no right to be in power even for a minute.

“Now-a-days a new scam is being done by the opposition, that is PDA i.e. Patriotic Democratic Alliance whereas I call PDA as Protection Of Dynasties Alliance i.e. it is a way to save familyism,” Nadda said.

Nadda further said that his party will come to the power in the state when the assembly polls which are scheduled to take place at the end of the year will be conducted.

“We have decided that under the ‘Nahi Sahega Rajasthan’ campaign, we will work to reach 2 crore people, convey the message of the party to the public and a corruption-free, development-oriented government will be formed in Rajasthan,” he said. (ANI)
