Delhi Witnesses Close Contest Btw AAP, BJP

As the initial trends of the counting of votes for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections showed a neck-to-neck contest between the ruling BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, both political outfits exuded confidence in winning the polls.

Counting of votes on the 250 wards of the MCD began at 8 am today.
Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Harish Khurrana said that the exit polls were proven wrong in the previous MCD elections and it will be repeated again in the city this time also.

“We are going to get more than 180 seats. If voters favour us, we can also cross 230 seats. Mayor will be from our party. I think exit polls are pointing towards the victory of Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.

He said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MLAs will collectively arrive at the party office after the trends become clear.

“AAP will win with big majority. Delhi will be cleaned. The initial trends will change as the counting of votes from EVM has begun. We are prepared and will have big celebrations. Chief Minister Kejriwal and the winner candidates and the MLAs will reach here as the trends are clear,” Bharadwaj said.

Love-Jihad MP Cong Leader

Love-Jihad Is Fake, It Never Existed: MP Cong Leader

Veteran Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Govind Singh targeted Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over his remarks on ‘Love-Jihad’.

Singh told ANI on Tuesday said, “The government speaks nothing but lies. Love-jihad is totally fake. The Constitution of India gives an absolute right to a person from any religion to have a relationship or marry anyone irrespective of faith. It is a conspiracy to change the Constitution. Love-Jihad never existed.”
The Opposition leader was reacting to remarks made by CM Chouhan at an event in Indore on Sunday where he said the state government will not tolerate ‘Love Jihad’ at any cost and if required, it will bring in stricter laws against it.

“Some people from other religions marry the daughter of a tribal family just to buy land. This is not love, it is ‘jihad’ in the name of love, and I will not allow this game of ‘love jihad’ in Madhya Pradesh at any cost,” Chouhan said.

Reacting to Congress leader Singh’s statement, BJP state general secretary Bhagwandas Sabnani said no responsible leader should make such ‘irresponsible statements’ in the quest for political appeasement.

“He (Govind Singh) or the people around him have never experienced the pain (of Love-Jihad). Congress must have decided that conversion has to be promoted,” Sabnani added. (ANI)

BJP Telangana Govt

BJP Is Trying To Topple Telangana Govt, Claims CM KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) on Sunday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is conspiring to topple the Telangana government.

While addressing a public gathering at the MVS college ground in Mahbubnagar district, after inaugurating several developmental schemes, the Telangana CM said, “The BJP government led by PM Narendra Modi is conspiring to topple the Telangana government. The thieves who came to buy the TRS MLAs were caught and put in jail.”
He further asked BJP why his government should be toppled, when people voted for his party.

“The PM himself says that they will topple our government. I want to ask them, for what reason? Didn’t people vote for us? Didn’t we win the elections? Is this the India we dream of where the PM goes to Bengal and says that 40 TMC MLAs are in touch with us,” he asked.

He further said that the country is still lacking on many fronts even after 75 years of independence, and urged the public to support Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti (BRS).

“Even decades after independence, people of the country do not have access to basic infrastructure, with the national capital itself suffering due to water and power crisis. The development that took place in Telangana, why is it not happening in other parts of the country? Expand BRS and play a vital role in national politics,” he said. (ANI)

MCD Poll

MCD Polls: 45% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 4 Pm

The overall polling percentage for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), for all 250 wards, stood at 45 percent (approx) till 4 pm, the State Election Commission informed on Sunday.

In what could be termed a lukewarm response to a high-pitched campaign by the AAP and the BJP for the Delhi civic polls, the overall voter turnout on Sunday was only about 30 percent, a marginal improvement from an even poorer turnout of 18 percent till 12 noon and just 9 percent till 10.30 am.
The polling kicked off at 8 am and will end at 5.30 pm.

The incumbent BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Congress and locked in a keen three-cornered contest for the 250 MCD wards this year. The polling process kicked off amid tight security arrangements on a chilly Sunday morning in the national capital.

Seeking to put the AAP on the defensive during the campaign phase, the BJP released several video clips purportedly showing jailed Delhi minister Satyendar Jain receiving privileged treatment behind bars.

While one clip purportedly showed Jain receiving a personalised body massage, another showed the minister purportedly digging into a five-course meal.

While the BJP centered its civic poll campaign around the purported clips, claiming that the Jail minister was receiving privileged treatment behind bars at Tihar jail, the AAP denied the charge saying that Jain was only being administered physiotherapy on medical advice.

Over 1.45 crore people are eligible to cast their votes in the civic polls, the state poll panel had informed earlier, adding that a total of 1,349 candidates, across parties, are in the fray this year.

The state poll panel had further informed that it had set up 13,638 polling stations for civic elections, adding that a sizeable workforce of election functionaries and security agencies had put in a lot of effort in making the necessary poll preparations.

The counting of votes will be done on December 7. (ANI)

Kejriwal Taking Credit For MCD’s Work: Gambhir

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gautam Gambhir on Sunday said that the party has “genuinely worked” for the people of Delhi in the last 15 years it has been in power at the city’s civic body.

Gambhir also slammed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for ‘taking credit for the work done by the MCD.
Speaking to the reporters after casting his vote in Old Rajender Nagar, Gambhir said, “The MCD has fought against Dengue. MCD is working in all three landfills. I am not an astrologer like the Chief Minister, and I can say about the number of seats that we will win. I can tell the reality. The reality is that we have genuinely worked for the people of Delhi in the last 15 years. We have not made false advertisements. MCD fought against Dengue and the Delhi Chief Minister takes credit for it.”

Gambhir further took on Kejriwal over the landfill issue and said that the Chief Minister did not work to finish it.

“He has not visited the landfill in the past 8 years, and he says that he is finishing the landfill. Investing thousands of crores in advertising will not do good to the people of Delhi,” he said.

Earlier today, Kejriwal voted along with his family at a polling booth in Civil Lines for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections and urged people not to vote for those who are corrupt.

While speaking to media persons after casting his vote, the Delhi Chief Minister said that the election is an opportunity to clean Delhi.

“I appeal to people to vote in large numbers. We can see there is garbage everywhere. It is an opportunity to clean Delhi. Vote for the party which does development work, not vote for such a party that stops the work of Delhi. Vote for the honest party. Don’t vote for those who are corrupt. Vote for good people and not for those who do gundaism, corruption, and use abusive language. We have to clean Delhi in the next 5 years,” said Delhi CM
