Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra Pro-Tem Speaker Selection

Delhi Excise Policy Case: Sisodia Changed His Mobile Phone 4 Times A Day

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday alleged that Manish Sisodia is “completely involved” in the alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy case and alleged the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister changed four mobile handsets in one day and 14 handsets in two three months after Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) lodged an FIR against him. The BJP alleged that Sisodia did so with the aim to destroy digital evidence.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, the BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “A few days ago, Arvind Kejriwal said that Manish Sisodia has a clean chit. And the scam that has taken place in the excise policy is not a scam because CBI and ED had given clean chit to Manish Sisodia. There is no charge sheet against Sisodia.”
Patra alleged that Sisodia has a big role in Delhi’s excise policy. “He is not just neck deep but he is completely involved in the liquor scam in Delhi,” the BJP leader said.

During the press conference, Patra presented a remand note which he claimed was submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to a Delhi court in which Patra said it is stated that an FIR dated August 17, 2022, was registered by CBI against Manish Sisodia

“A person named Amit Arora had taken and given money in the case. Amit Arora was arrested by the ED and while taking its custody the ED presented these documents in Court. The 32-page remand note shows that the investigation is going on against Manish Sisodia in the excise police scam case. The allegations against him are serious. The ED and CBI had charge-sheeted those arrested. They are preparing full-proof documents on Manish Sisodia. They all have a connection with Manish Sisodia.

“As per the document, an FIR dated August 17, 2022, was registered by CBI against Manish Sisodia. The Office Memo (OM) disclosed that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the then Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna and others were instrumental in giving orders to people in excise policy benefiting few by giving them an undue advantage,” said the BJP leader.

He further alleged that Sisodia might have consulted people to destroy digital evidence in the case.

“Manish Sisodia changed four mobile handsets in one day and 14 handsets in two three months after CBI’s FIR against him. He might have consulted Delhi CM Kejriwal, AAP leader Vijay Nair, liquor scam accused Amit Arora and Sunny Marwah to destroy digital evidence,” the BJP national spokesperson said.

Patra alleged “large-scale destruction of digital evidence” was done by the accused including the ex-excise minister of Delhi Sisodia and that 170 mobile phones were destroyed by the 36 accused in the alleged Delhi liquor scam

The Delhi LG had recommended a CBI inquiry into the findings of the Delhi chief secretary’s report filed in July showing prima facie violations of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Act 1991, Transaction of Business Rules (ToBR)-1993, Delhi Excise Act-2009, and Delhi Excise Rules-2010, officials had said.

In October, the ED had raided nearly three dozen locations in Delhi and Punjab following the arrest of Sameer Mahendru, Managing Director of Delhi’s Jor Bagh-based liquor distributor Indospirit Group, in the case.

The Excise Department had decided to refund the Earnest Money Deposit of about Rs 30 crore to a successful tenderer against the set rules. Even though there was no enabling provision, a waiver on tendered license fees was allowed from December 28, 2021, to January 27, 2022, due to COVID-19.

This allegedly caused a loss of Rs 144.36 crore to the exchequer, which has been instituted on a reference from the Union Home Ministry following a recommendation from Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. (ANI)

Shivaji's Descendent Announces Protest

Shivaji’s Descendent Announces Protest At Raigad Fort Against Governor Koshiyari’s Remark

Bharatiya Janata Party MP and Shivaji Maharaj’s descendent Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhonsle arrived at the Raigad Fort in Maharashtra on Saturday to express his protest against Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi over their alleged remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

At the Raigad Fort, Udayanraje Bhonsle has announced to launch ‘Aakrosh’ agitation to mark his protest.
The Maharashtra Governor on November 19 stoked controversy as he called Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj an ‘old idol’.

Addressing a function at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Aurangabad on November 19, Governor Koshyari said, “If someone asks who your idol is, you don’t have to go out looking for one. You will find them right here in Maharashtra. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has become an old idol now, you can find new ones — from Babasaheb Ambedkar to (Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways) Nitin Gadkari.”

This statement sparked a massive furore and drew censure from Maratha organisations and opposition leaders alike.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar slammed Koshyari over his remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and said that Maharashtra Governor has crossed “all limits”.

He further sought intervention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matter.

While addressing a press conference, Pawar had said “The Governor has crossed all limits. The President and the Prime Minister should intervene in this matter. It is wrong to give big posts to people who make irresponsible statements.”

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s descendant Udayanraje Bhonsle also wrote to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the governor’s remarks demanding him to be sacked from the post.

“The statements made by the governor and the spokesperson of BJP are very contradictory to the beliefs of the nation it would only be appropriate if you could take measures to remove the Governor of Maharashtra. Your actions and deliberations in resolving this current standoff would go miles in restoring the confidence of the people of Maharashtra and the nation, that you stand in solidarity with the people’s belief and faith in Chh. Shivaji Maharaj. Thanking you,” read the letter. (ANI)

MCD Polls BJP

MCD Polls: BJP Promises To Regularise Weekly Markets Of 8 L Street Vendors

The Bharatiya Janata Party has promised to regularise weekly markets of eight lakh street vendors in the national capital if BJP returns to power after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections scheduled for Sunday.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, BJP’s National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “Taking cognizance of the demand of eight lakh street vendors of Delhi that their weekly markets be regularized, BJP has determinedly decided to regularize them.”
The BJP leader also reminded that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who implemented the Swanidhi Yojana for such vendors under which small traders were given an amount of Rs 10,000 to start their small businesses.

Bhatia said the BJP is committed to ensuring that hardworking people are not harassed.

“There are 12 zones in Delhi and night markets will be set up in them. Along with this, arrangements will also be made for a special women’s market.

“It will be ensured that more and more employment opportunities are generated and corruption problems will also be dealt with strictly in a legal manner,” said Bhatia.

The BJP spokesperson also said that there are 2,700 weekly markets in Delhi, which have been running for more than 20 years, but almost 80 percent of them need to be regularised.

“There has always been a demand of street vendors to increase the space, keeping this in mind, the BJP has decided that the street vendors that have been given 6/4 size for so many years. We will increase that size to 7/5 while the weekly markets will be 12/8. So that no one has to face any problems,” he said.

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri hailed the Prime Minister for his financial assistance scheme for street vendors providing Rs 10,000 each for employment survival during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bidhuri mocked key rival in the civic body polls Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“After PM Modi gave financial assistance of Rs 10,000, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal also talked about giving Rs 20,000 to vendors,” said Bidhuri and added he was ready to resign from his post if Kejriwal could show even one man who got that Rs 20,000.

“The way the central government has given free rations under the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, it has proved to be a boon in the pandemic period.

“Today 3,024 flats built in Kalkaji were given to the poor, in which about 17 percent of the poor are street vendors,” he added.

The high-stakes Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections will take place on Sunday and the counting will be held on December 7. The campaigning ended on Friday with the AAP government announcing a three-day dry day till results.

The elections to the 250-ward MCD is a high-pitched contest between the BJP which has held the reins of the civic body since 2007 and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which has been in government since 2013, besides the Congress. The cleanliness of the city and pollution are key concerns for many Delhiites. (ANI)

Uttarakhand Dhami 8 New Cities

BJP Won’t Let AAP Open Its Account In MCD Elections: Dhami

Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Puskar Singh Dhami on Thursday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will retain power in the MCD elections and will not let AAP even “open its account”.

While talking to ANI, Dhami said, “Delhi will continue what was started in Uttarakhand where they didn’t let the party even open its account.”
A day after Uttarakhand legislative assembly passed a stricter anti-conversion bill, Dhami on Thursday said, “Religious conversion was going on in a lot of places and was becoming a serious matter. So, we have made a provision that nobody will be able to indulge in religious conversion. If found guilty, they will face a jail term of up to 10 years. We’ve made a law.”

“Be it people across the country or in Delhi, everyone wants development, nationalism, and transparency and work going on under PM Modi’s leadership. Delhi will continue what was started in Uttarakhand where they didn’t let a party even open its account,” Dhami added.

Earlier on Wednesday, two important Bills were passed by voice vote in the Uttarakhand Assembly on the second day of the supplementary budget session on Thursday. A strict law regarding religious conversions in the state is now in place after the passage of the Uttarakhand Religion Freedom (Amendment) Bill 2022.

Apart from this, the Uttarakhand Public Service (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Bill 2022 will once again implement the system of 30 percent horizontal reservation for women in the state, which is considered a big achievement of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s government.

A few days ago, the state government also approved both bills from the Cabinet. With the passage of these Bills in the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday, a notification for their implementation in the state will be issued soon.

“Uttarakhand is the land of Gods, where things like religious conversion are very dangerous for us, so the government had decided to enact the strictest laws for religious conversion in the state,” Dhami had said.

He said that it is the endeavour of the state government to implement this law in the state at the earliest.

“Mother power has a huge contribution in the construction of Uttarakhand and the government had already decided that respecting the mother power in this state with adverse geographical conditions, they should be given this horizontal reservation benefits,” he had said while speaking about the Horizontal Reservation Bill for women in Uttarakhand.

The high-stakes polls to the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi are due on December 4 and the votes will be counted on December 7.

The civic polls are shaping up to be a two-way contest between the BJP, which currently holds the civic reins in the national capital, and the AAP, which is in power in the capital. (ANI)
