Efforts Made To Enslave Students Of North East, India: Rahul

Amid the rift with Assam Chief Minister, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that efforts are being made to enslave students of North East and India, adding “There is no need for any student to be afraid.”

He also alleged that the Home Minister of the country picked up the phone and called CM Himanta and said that Rahul Gandhi should not meet the students of Assam.

“We are being stopped everywhere. The Home Minister of the country picked up the phone and called CM Himanta and said that Rahul Gandhi should not meet the students of Assam. That’s not important whether Rahul Gandhi comes here or not. What’s important is that the students must be allowed to listen to whomever they want to. But it is not happening in any schools and colleges in Assam. You are being told that you cannot speak your language. You are being told that you cannot have your history,” he said.

He further said that efforts are being made to enslave the students of North East and India.

“Nobody can stop you from thinking about the India that you want. Nobody can stop you from reading or writing in the language you want. Nobody should stop you from believing in any religion you want. You have come here because you are not ready for what the Chief Minister wants you to follow. An attempt is being made to stop the student from thinking. If students are stopped from thinking then India will be destroyed, India will not survive,” Rahul Gandhi added.

“There is no need for any student to be afraid, you are the future of this country,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, As Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed its journey on the 10th day on Tuesday from Assam, heavy security was deployed at Khanapara Area, the entry point of Guwahati for the Yatra.

There was barricading and heavy deployment of police officials in the Khanapara Area, where Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra will reach today.

According to Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s official handle on X, the Congress will hold a press conference later today. After that, the yatra will resume its journey and it will halt at Bishnupur in Assam.

Bhupen Kumar Borah, Assam Congress President said “Rahul ji’s name is not in any corruption case. Who is Raavan? Today, women in Assam are the most unsafe in the entire country. So wherever Ravana is, women will be unsafe.”

Rahul Gandhi on Monday who arrived at the Batadrava Than, the birthplace of revered Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva, in Assam, took a veiled dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he was denied permission to enter the shrine.

“We want to visit the temple (Batadrava Than). What crime have I committed that I cannot visit the temple?” Rahul Gandhi said.

“I want to go to the temple, what is wrong with this? Earlier we were invited but now the administration is saying that we cannot go. “Aaj sirf ek vyakti mandir mein ja sakta hain…”(Perhaps today only one person can go to the temple),” the Congress leader said in an apparent dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishta’ ceremony at Ayodhya Ram Temple. Did Rahul Think Of Nyay For 1984 Atrocities On Sikh Community: Puri

Reacting to the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi whether he had ever thought about justice (Nyay) for the people of the Sikh community who suffered atrocities in 1984.

“I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, what has he thought about the justice for the people of our community who suffered atrocities in 1984, did he ever go there and apologised to the people?… Rahul Gandhi is distracted and keeps saying anything. His people said things about Sanatana Dharma and this is unfortunate,” Puri told ANI on Sunday.

When asked about former Congress leader Milind Deora joining Shiv Sena, Puri said that he has known Milind Deora and his father Murli Deora for 30-40 years.

“I know Milind Deora and I have known his father Murli Deora for 30-40 years…he has joined Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and we have an alliance with them so we will work together,” he added.

The Maharashtra leader ended his 55-year-old association with the party which went back to his father Murli Deora.

Milind Deora’s decision to quit Congress came on the day Rahul Gandhi kickstarted his nationwide ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ from Manipur’s Thoubal.

Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi flagged off the yatra from Manipur’s Thoubal.

The yatra will cover over 6,700 kilometres over 67 days, traversing through 110 districts. (ANI)

By Suspending 150 MPs, Govt Muffled Voices Of 60% Of India: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that by suspending nearly 150 opposition MPs from Parliament, the government had muffled the voices of the people of their constituencies.

While speaking at the protest of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc here at Jantar Mantar against the bulk suspension of opposition MPs, the Congress leader cornered the Centre over ‘unemployment’.

He said that the two youths, carrying smoke canisters jumped into the Lok Sabha, earlier this month because they were jobless.

“A few days ago, 2-3 youths jumped inside the Parliament House, we all saw, they came inside and spread some smoke. All the BJP MPs ran away. First of all, how did those people come inside, they brought gas cylinders inside the Parliament. If they could bring that then they could have brought anything. The second question is why did they protest? The reason for this was unemployment. There is huge unemployment in the country. The youth of this country cannot get employment today,” he said.

The security breach happened on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. Two people–Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D–jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters, and shouted anti-establishment slogans before being overpowered by the MPs.

The security lapse case, which has been at the center of discussion in the political aisle of the country since then, led to the suspension of 146 MPs from the Parliament’s Winter Session, which has been adjourned sine die, for creating a ruckus and disrupting proceedings in both Houses.

The opposition lawmakers were demanding a statement from Union Minister Amit Shah about the Parliament security breach incident.

The Congress leader went on to add that as per a survey, it was revealed that youth spend 7.30 hours a day on social media apps.

Rahul said that he asked surveyors to conduct a small survey to find out how many hours per day the youth of the country spend on their phones or social media platforms.

“After the survey, I was shocked to learn that youth spend 7.30 hours a day on social media apps,” Gandhi said.

Reacting to the Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar’s mimicry row, he said that the media didn’t question about the suspension of nearly 150 MPs but highlighted that Rahul Gandhi was filming the act.

“Media says that MPs were sitting outside the Parliament and Rahul Gandhi filmed the video (of mimicry). The media did not ask the question why and how 150 MPs were suspended,” he said.

“These 150 people are not just individuals, they are the voice of the people of India. Every Member of Parliament brings lakhs of votes, you have not insulted just 150 people, you have silenced 60 percent of the people of India,” he added.

Meanwhile, another Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, said that the protest, under the banner ‘Save Democracy’, at Jantar Mantar, is send a message among people that whatever is happening is ‘wrong for the future of the country’.

“In the history of democracy in the world, 146 MPs have never been suspended… People should know that the democracy is in danger. The protest is to tell the people that whatever is happening is wrong for the future of the country… There is only one solution, people should change this government and bring the INDIA Alliance into power,” Tharoor told ANI.

Senior opposition leaders, including Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar, Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge, CPI-M’s Sitaram Yechury, and others, shared the dais to protest against the recent suspension of 146 opposition MPs. (ANI)

Rahul Concedes Defeat In Hindi Heartland States

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday conceded the party’s defeat in the Assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, but he said that the party’s battle of ideology would continue.

“We humbly accept the mandate of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan – the battle of ideology will continue,” Rahul Gandhi posted on X.

In Telangana where the Congress is set to form the next government, dethroning BRS’s 10-year rule, he said that his party will fulfil the promise of making “Prajalu Telangana”.

“I am very thankful to the people of Telangana – we will fulfil the promise of making Prajalu Telangana. Heartfelt thanks to all the workers for their hard work and support,” the Wayanad MP posted on X.

In the Assembly elections in four states- Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh- the counting of which is in the final stages, as per the Election Commission data, the BJP is leading in majority of the seats in three States, clearly indicating that it would form governments in these states.

While in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the BJP is defeating the incumbent Congress governments, in Madhya Pradesh it has defeated the anti-incumbency in retaining the power.

However, in the South Indian state of Telangana, the Congress sees a consolation as it poised to dethrone, BRS’s decade-old rule.

In Madhya Pradesh, as per the latest Election Commission data, the BJP is leading in 166 seats out of 230 and the Congress is leading in 63 seats.

In Rajasthan, the BJP is leading in 115 seats out of 199 seats clearly on the way to ousting the incumbent Ashok Gehlot government. The Congress is leading in 69 seats in the state.

In the Chhattisgarh election, though the majority of the exit polls predicted the Congress would retain the government, the results show otherwise. As per the latest ECI update, the BJP is leading in 55 seats out of 90 and the Congress is leading 35 seats.

In Telangana, the incumbent BRS has conceded defeat as the ECI update showed that Congress is leading in 64 seats in the 119-member assembly. BRS is leading in 39 seats, and the BJP and BRS are leading in 8 and 7 seats respectively. (ANI)

Cong Aims To Have 50% Women CM In 10 Yrs: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the mission of the grand old party would be to have 50 percent of the women Chief Ministers in 10 years.

“A good target for the Congress party would be if, in 10 years from today, 50 per cent of our chief ministers are women. Today we don’t have a single chief minister who is a woman. But I know many women in the Congress party have the quality to be very good chief ministers. We have to ensure that at every level, there are more and more women in the organisation and this cannot be done through events, ” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing the ‘Utsaah’ Mahila Congress State Convention in Ernakulam, Kerala.

Stressing the need for a dynamic shift in the country’s political system by minimizing discrimination, he said, “It has to be done through a process. In the political system, we have different types of discrimination, we have caste discrimination, and language, but women are the most discriminated against. There are no women in this room who are comfortable walking on the streets at night.”

Toeing the line of BJP for women empowerment, he added, “From the organisation point of view, it is very important to be aggressive on women empowerment.”

He further slammed the RSS and BJP on women’s issues and said that the biggest question is “Are the women allowed to share power in the RSS?”

“The central fight between BJP and Congress is about how women should be treated. In the picture of freedom, you will find Mahatma Gandhi always standing and advocating for women. You will see women taking the front in the freedom struggle. Congress party has many women presidents and has PM women president because we fundamentally believe women should share power in the country.”

“In its entire history, RSS has not allowed women in its organisation. The question is are the women allowed to share power in the RSS? The RSS is purely a man-oriented organisation,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He also alleged that the RSS decide what women should do and what they should wear.

“What women wear, what they do is the decision of her only. In the RSS, they decide what women should do and on what basis women should be respected. For the first time, I have seen a bill passed in parliament that will be implemented a decade later. The only bill which the BJP has passed after 10 years is of the women empowerment (Women reservation bill),” he added. (ANI)

Bye Bye KCR: Rahul Ahead Of Telangana Polls

As campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections ended on Tuesday in Telangana, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appealed to the people in the poll-bound state to get rid of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for their own good and asked the public to follow the party’s slogan ‘Bye Bye KCR’.

Rahul Gandhi alongside General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, KC Venugopal and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy held a roadshow from Anand Bagh Chowrasta to Malkajgiri Chowrasta on Tuesday.

Addressing the public at a roadshow event, Rahul Gandhi said,” If your Chief Minister is fighting against PM Modi then why not a single case has been filed against him. Why no IT, CBI, or ED cases are filed against him? I have seen with my own eyes, that BRS helps the Centre in Lok Sabha be it demonetisation or farm bills. On the other hand, AIMIM tries to cut in our vote share. Be it Assam, or Rajasthan. AIMIM, BJP, and BRS are one unit.”

“We have to do Bye Bye KCR in these elections. BRS needs to be removed from Telangana and PM Modi from Centre,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi further stated that he only fights against Prime Minister Modi stating that the PM tries to spread hatred in the nation.

“They (BJP) took away my official residence. I said I don’t want it. My home is in the hearts of people. I have 24 cases against me on directions of PM Modi,” the Congress leader said.

“My relation with you is not political, but it is a family relation. We walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. We do not want an India of hate or violence. My fight is against PM Modi because he tries to spread hate in the nation. We want an India of love. A nation is formed with love,” he added.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also appealed to the voters and said that her party would form an honest government in Telangana if voted to power.

“There has been a KCR and BRS government for ten years. Were you given employment? What was given to women? KCR family members were made ministers. Only one government in the country is running from a farmhouse and this is that government. If you form a Congress government, we will fulfil our six guarantees, and we will form an honest government for you,” she said.

The polls for the Telangana polls ended on Tuesday.

Telangana is set to witness a triangular contest between the ruling Bharat Rasthtra Samithi, Congress and BJP as the state goes to the polls on November 30.

In the last Assembly elections in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats, while the BJP drew a blank. (ANI)

Election Commission Notice To Rahul Over ‘Panauti’ Remarks

The Election Commission of India on Thursday issued show cause notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his ‘Jaibkatra’ (Pickpocket) and ‘Pannauti’ remarks on Prime Minister Modi in an election rally.

The BJP wrote a complaint to ECI on November 22 about Rahul Gandhi using derogatory remarks about PM Modi in his rallies.

“Whereas, a complaint has been received from the BJP (copy enclosed) alleging that you, on 22nd November 2023 in a public meeting at Bayatu, District Barmer, Rajasthan made wild allegations and spoke in a derisive and obnoxious manner about the Prime Minister. It is alleged that comparing a PM to a “Jaibkatra” (pickpocket) and using the word “Pannauti” is unbecoming of a very senior leader of a National Political Party. Further, the allegation of grant of waivers of Rs. 14,00,000 crores for the past 9 years, is asserted by the BJP, as not borne out on facts,” the ECI letter to Rahul Gandhi said.

“Furthermore, they are allegedly in violation of Section 123 (4) of the R.P. Act, Section 171G, 504, 505 (2), and 499 of the IPC, and provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.” It added.

Earlier Rahul Gandhi while addressing a rally in Barmer claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the Narendra Modi stadium was the reason behind India’s World Cup final loss.

“Our guys were playing well, they would have won the world cup. But ‘Panauti’ made us lose. The TV guys won’t tell you this but people know,” Rahul said while campaigning at Rajasthan’s Barmer on Monday.

The ECI further asked Rahul Gandhi to explain why the action be not taken against him in the matter till November 25.

“Accordingly, you are requested to provide your explanation, on the allegation made and to show causes as to why action as deemed fit for alleged violation of MCC and relevant penal provisions is not initiated by the Commission. Your reply, if any, be reached by 18.00 hrs. of November 25, 2023. If no reply is received by then action deemed fit will be taken by the Commission,” the letter said.

The BJP in its complaint to ECI asked to take appropriate action against the Congress leader. “It will spoil the electoral environment, where abusing, usage of objectionable and offensive language to defame respectable individuals and spreading false news will become inevitable,” BJP said. (ANI)

Huge Debt Of Businessmen Written Off, Farmers Harassed Due To Policies Of Centre: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that Congress is not in favor of the notion of two distinct Indias, wherein the debts of affluent businessmen and industrialists are forgiven and on the other hand farmers are being harassed by banks based on the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rahul Gandhi outlined the party’s commitment to an inclusive India and criticized the disparities created by the debt relief for the wealthy and the challenges faced by farmers.

Addressing an election rally in Dausa, Rahul Gandhi said, “Congress Party gave you seven guarantees. We want an inclusive India. We don’t want two different Indias. There is one India where lakhs of debt of businessmen and industrialists are getting written off. Then there are farmers who are harassed by banks due to policies of PM Modi.”

Rahul Gandhi further accused PM Modi of adopting an opportunist approach in dealing with the issues and challenges faced by backward castes.

“PM Narendra Modi says that there is no caste; there are only poor. When the time came to give rights, then there is no caste and when it is time to promote fighting, then there are OBCs and Dalits,” he said.

Earlier today, PM Modi targetted five years of Congress’ rule in the poll-bound state of Rajasthan and said that its leaders have “spent in running each other out”.

Addressing a congregation of people in Rajasthan’s Churu district, the Prime Minister said, “Nowadays, the whole country is filled with enthusiasm for cricket. In cricket, a batsman comes and scores runs for his team. But there is such a fight among the Congress party that these people are busy running each other out.”

Rajasthan is set to hold elections on November 25.

The counting of votes for the Rajasthan Assembly will be held on December 3.

In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP finished at 73 seats in the 200-member House. Gehlot took the oath as CM with the support of BSP MLAs and independent legislators. (ANI)

First Look In Mirror Before Pointing Fingers At Others: Owaisi Rips Into Rahul

Launching a no-holds-barred attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief, Asaduddin Owaisi, on Saturday said the latter should look at himself in the mirror before pointing fingers at others.

Speaking to media persons while holding a door-to-door campaign in support of party candidate Majid Hussain in Nampally Assembly constituency in Hyderabad on Saturday, the AIMIM chief said, “Under the presidentship of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress fought on 540 Lok Sabha seats and, yet, its count in the 2019 general elections was reduced to 50. Did he question how much money he took? How much money did you (Rahul) take from (PM Narendra) Modi? He should first at himself in the mirror before pointing fingers at others. They are in alliance with the Shiv Sena (UBT in Maharashtra) which had a hand in the demolition of the Babri Masjid. They are worried as the AIMIM has emerged as the voice of minorities and the poor. We have been fighting them and will continue to do so,” Owaisi told ANI.

Weighing in on the Congress manifesto in Telangana, the AIMIM chief said their list of poll pledges is just “ink on a piece of paper”.

“There is nothing in their manifesto. They have proposed a matrimonial scheme as part of which non-Muslims are to be provided a lot of benefits and Muslim women nothing. This shows their selective approach. Polling just ended for Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Why didn’t they (Congress) come out with any minority declaration in these states? The reason they did it here is because they know that the AIMIM has a strong footing here. They are scared of us,” Owaisi said.

Reacting to Rahul’s remark that the Congress will open ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ in Telangana if elected, Owaisi said what they represent isn’t love but hatred.

“Their chief in Telangana (Revanth Reddy) is from RSS. When fingers are being pointed at our clothes and caps, what will come from all their talk about love?” he added.

Telangana will go for Assembly elections on November 30 and counting of votes, along with those of four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3.

AIMIM has fielded candidates for nine seats in Hyderabad in the Telangana elections.

In the previous Assembly election in 2018, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, grabbing 47.4 per cent of the total vote share.

The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats. (ANI)

He Wears Suits Worth Lakhs: Rahul Takes Jibe At Modi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh and said “PM wears suits worth lakhs of rupees but I wear this white t-shirt only.”

Addressing a rally at Satna, Rahul said “I heard PM Modi’s speech, he used to say everywhere that I belong from the OBC community in every speech, he became prime minister by saying this repeatedly. On one day, he wears at least 1-2 suits worth lakhs of rupees. Have you seen Modi ji repeating his clothes ? I wear this one single white shirt. Do you know why caste disappeared from his speeches as I started speaking about caste-based census. Since I started speaking about it, Modi started saying that there is no caste in India.”

He also announced that the first step of the Congress government formed in MP will be to conduct the caste-based census.

“As soon as Congress government is formed in MP, our first step will be to conduct caste-based census statewide and as soon as our party comes to power we will do the survey of caste-based census nationwide. Till the caste-based census is not done, the backward class won’t be able to contribute. A few days back during the campaign in Chhattisgarh, I met few farmers. I asked about the rate of their land. I was astonished to know when the farmer said that I don’t know the rate of my land,” Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress leader alleged that the government takes GST from poor people and hands over all the money to big businessmen.

“Big industrialists do not provide employment. Small traders who run small and medium businesses, who are into small and medium scale manufacturing, who run shops, these people provide employment. There used to be lakhs of small units, who gave employment to our youth. When the BJP and PM Modi government came into power, they started an attack on these units. They attacked small traders, and small and medium businesses with demonetization and GST. GST is not a tax. It is an attack on farmers, small traders and businessmen. It is a weapon to finish small traders,” he added.

“GST is given by OBC, Adivasi, backward class and poor people of general category. The government takes GST from poor people and hands over all the bank money to big businessmen like Adani, and Ambani,” Rahul Gandhi said.

The former Congress President accused the BJP of plotting to overthrow the Congress Government that was formed after the 2018 state elections.

“Big industrialists, billionaires, PM Modi and Shivraj Singh Chouhan came together and stole our government from you because they knew that the Congress government of Madhya Pradesh will not work for Adani, it would work for farmers, labourers and small shop owners. I have clearly told the CMs of Karnataka and Chhattisgarh and I will say the same for MP that whatever money the BJP government has given to Adani, the same amount should be given to the people of the state. Modi Ji’s control is in the hands of Adani,” he added. (ANI)
