We Are Fighting Against Hatred-Filled Asura-Shakti: Rahul

After Congress leaders’ press conference on freezing party accounts ahead of Lok Sabha elections, party leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his ‘Shakti’ remark and said that they are fighting against hatred-filled “Asura-shakti.”

“We are fighting against hatred-filled ‘Asura-shakti’,” the Congress leader told reporters after holding a press conference in the national capital.

After Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Shakti’ remark stirred controversy, the BJP leaders criticised him for his statement, whereas the Congress rallied behind the Wayanad MP and came in support of him.

In Mumbai, where the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra recently concluded, Rahul Gandhi said at a rally, “There is a word ‘Shakti’ in Hinduism. We are fighting against Shakti. The question is, what is Shakti? The soul of the king is in the EVM. This is true. The soul of the king is in the EVM and every institution of the country, in the ED, CBI and Income Tax Department.”

Meanwhile, party’s general secretary KC Venugopal said that they are appealing to the people to save democracy.

“That is why we are going to the people directly. We are appealing to the people. We are appealing to the people to save democracy. Come what may, we will fight it out,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi on Thursday lashed out at the Centre and asserted that there is “no democracy” in India today, alleging that the idea that India is a democracy is a lie.

Rahul Gandhi asserted that by blocking the accounts of the largest opposition party the BJP had caused great damage to Indian democracy.

“This is a criminal action on the Congress party, a criminal action done by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. So, the idea that India is a democracy is a lie. There is no democracy in India today. The idea that India is the world’s largest democracy is a lie. A complete lie,” he said.

“20 per cent of India votes for us and we are not able to pay Rs 2 for anything. It has been orchestrated to cripple us in the elections. Even if our bank accounts are unfrozen today, huge amount of debt damage has been done to Indian democracy,” he added.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi claimed that all Congress’ bank accounts have been frozen, the party can do no campaign work, cannot support party workers, and cannot support party candidates.

“All our bank accounts have been frozen. We can do no campaign work, we cannot support our workers, we cannot support our candidates. This has been done two months before the election campaign. One notice comes from the 90s, another from 6-7 years back. Quantum amount is Rs 14 lakhs and punishment – our entire financial identity. All the institutions are quiet and the Election Commission has not even said anything,” he added.

He further said that the party has already lost a month fighting the IT case and its ability to fight elections has been damaged.

“This is not the freezing of Congress party’s bank accounts; this is the freezing of Indian democracy. As the biggest opposition party, we are unable to take any action – we can’t book advertisements or send our leaders anywhere. This is an assault on democracy,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi said that there is an Election Commission in the country but it has not even said anything.

“What’s interesting to me is that there are institutions in this country that are supposed to protect the democratic framework. There is an Election Commission in the country but it has not even said anything; that you have frozen the bank accounts of one of the biggest political parties and largest opposition in the country,” he added.

Earlier on March 8, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) dismissed the plea moved by the Congress Party which sought a stay against Income Tax Department proceedings of recovery and freezing of their Bank accounts and said the Stay Application is without merit. (ANI)

One Nation One ElectionRam Nath Kovind

Oppn Leaders Oppose ‘One Nation, One Election’ In Meet With Panel Head Kovind

The chairman of the High-Level Committee (HLC) on One Nation One Election and former President, Ram Nath Kovind, on Tuesday met and interacted with representatives of Trinamool Congress leaders Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kalyan Banerjee who put forth their opinions on the subject.

The panel chief also met Communist Party of India (Marxist) secretary general Sitaram Yechury and former Rajya Sabha MP Nilotpal Basu and others as part of consultations with political parties. The leaders presented their views on holding simultaneous elections in the country.

Meanwhile, from the Samajwadi Party, KK Srivastava and Dr Harish Chander Yadav attended the meeting, articulating the party’s position with regard to holding simultaneous Elections.

Representatives of these parties also handed over their suggestions in writing to the committee.

Speaking to media persons after calling on the committee’s chairman, TMC leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee said, “Today we appeared before the committee headed by our former President. We opposed the idea of ‘One Nation, One Election’. We are of the view that there is a hidden agenda to replace the time-honoured parliamentary democracy in India towards a dictatorship or a presidential form of government in future. Our constitutional provisions cannot and should not be interfered with.”

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to the high-level committee on ‘One Nation, One Election’, saying that she did not agree with the idea of holding simultaneous elections as the Constitution does not provide for the same.

“Does the Indian Constitution follow the concept of ‘One Nation, One Government? I am afraid it does not. Our Constitution conceives of the Indian nation in a federal manner. Therefore, the Indian nation has been given a Union government and several State governments. If the framers of the Indian Constitution did not mention the concept of ‘One Nation, One Government, how have you arrived at the concept of ‘One Nation, One Election’?” the TMC Supremo stated in her letter to the panel.

After meeting with the High-Level Committee, Yechury told reporters on Tuesday, “We totally disagree with terms of reference of this committee because it is presumed that ‘One Nation, One election’ is possible and all that remains to be decided is how to implement it. In our opinion this presumption itself is wrong. ‘One Nation, One Election’ runs contrary to the spirit of our Constitution. It is anti-democratic and anti-federalism. When a govt loses its majority on the floor of the House, then its continuation is completely undemocratic.”

“India is a vast country with myriad diversities and only a federal set-up can sustain political democracy. Having elections in states at different times is one aspect of the federal system. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is totally opposed to any artificial attempt to bring about simultaneous elections which can only be done by trampling upon the existing Constitutional scheme of parliamentary democracy,” the CPI(M) stated recently.

Samajwadi Party representatives KK Srivastava and Dr Harish Chander Yadav also handed over the written submissions to the committee, stating that ‘One Country, One Election’ may lead to major gains for national parties while state-level parties are likely to suffer losses. They also voiced fears that it may further aggravate the differences between national and state parties.

According to the Samajwadi Party, there will be many constitutional, structural and political challenges in implementing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ law, as, to extend the tenure of any Legislative Assembly or Lok Sabha by even a day, the Constitution will have to be amended or President’s rule will have to be imposed. Also raising questions on constitutional safeguards or arrangements will be ensured in states where governments are dissolved mid-term, the SP leaders also questioned how a consensus will be reached to increase or decrease the tenure of the legislative assembly.

Earlier, on January 27, Ram Nath Kovind held consultations with Justice UU Lalit, former Chief Justice of India and Justice Sanjib Banerjee, former Chief Justice of Madras High Court and Manan Kumar Mishra, Chairman of the Bar Council of India, who gave their considered opinions on the subject.

Continuing his deliberations with political parties, Kovind also held interactions with Deepak ‘Pandurang’ Dhavalikar, president, of Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party, Goa. The party offered its strong support to the idea of ‘One Nation One Election’, inter alia, arguing that it will strengthen grassroots democracy.

Recently, the committee had also met a delegation of Lok Jan Shakti Party, comprising members including Pashupati Kumar Paras, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, President Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), Prince Raj (Member of Parliament, Samastipur, Lok Sabha), Sanjay Sarraf, Spokesperson, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), and Ramji Singh, General Secretary, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP).

The committee had also held consultations with eminent jurists Justice Dilip Bhosale, former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, and Justice Rajendra Menon, former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, who articulated their views on the subject.

Initiating discussions with financial and economic experts, Kovind also held interactions with Ajay Singh, president of ASSOCHAM, and chairman and managing director of Spicejet Airlines, who was also accompanied by the Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General of ASSOCHAM. Ajay Singh put forth his views in detail on the economic advantages of holding simultaneous elections for the nation.

The High-Level Committee, earlier, initiated a consultative process under the chairmanship of the former President.

The panel recently also sought public opinion on ‘One Nation, One Election’. A public notice in the matter read, “Notice for inviting suggestions from members of the general public for making appropriate changes in the existing legal administrative framework to enable simultaneous elections in the country.” (ANI)

Dilli Ka Darbaar

Dilli Ka Darbaar Can Do Nothing Good For C’garh: Shah

Coming down heavily on the Congress in Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said ‘Dilli ka Darbaar’ can do nothing good for the state.

At an event to unveil the BJP’s ‘Aarop Patra’ (list of charges) against the Chhattisgarh government in the state capital, Raipur, the Union Home Minister said, “The upcoming state assembly elections are not just about a change of regime but it is also about securing the future of Chhattisgarh. The people have to decide if they want to give another term to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s corrupt government or vote for a development-oriented government by the BJP in the state. Dilli ka Darbaar (oblique reference to the Gandhi family) can do nothing good for Chhattisgarh. It is only the BJP, which can save the state from corruption,” Shah said.

“If voted to power, the BJP will put the state on the path of development and progress. We have unveiled the ‘Aarop Patra’ today to make the people aware of the corruption and scams that happened under the Congress government. Since 2018, when they (Congress) came to power, they have done nothing other than looting the state and the people,” Shah added.

Praising the previous BJP government in the state, Shah said, “While Raman Singh (former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister) was at the helm of affairs, the state made noticeable progress and took forward strides on all yardsticks of development. He provided free ration to every household. People started calling him ‘Chawal wale Baba’ (the leader who provided rice free of cost).”

“We even reserved 50 per cent seats for women candidates during the panchayat elections. Chhattisgarh was recognised as an education hub, power hub, cement hub, and an aluminum hub,” the Home minister said.

Coming down heavily at Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Shah said, “What have you (Baghel) given to the state? All you did was loot the poor and work for the benefit of the Gandhi family. He should present a detailed account of what he has done in the years he has been in power. He does not even remember the promises he made to the people of Chhattisgarh.”

The BJP, in its ‘Aarop Patra,’ alleged that the Congress government encouraged Naxalism in the state and got BJP workers killed.

“The Congress party promised to construct 200 food parks in the state but could not make even a single one of them,” the party alleged further in the Aarop Patra.

“The party promised to provide potable water to every household but could not provide the same to even half of them. It spent Rs 600 crores of public money for promotional activities. The Congress also threatened journalists and suppressed their rights,” the BJP added.

The ‘Aarop Patra’ also accused the ruling party of giving “leeway to criminals for its own political benefits”.

“The Congress party gave blatant leeway to criminals for its own political benefits and made the state a hub of drug peddlers and addicts,” the BJP alleged further in its ‘Aarop Patra’.

“The people of Chhattisgarh gave us 10 of the 11 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and all seats in 2019. I am hopeful that the people of Chhattisgarh will bless the BJP again in the upcoming Assembly elections and the Lok Sabha elections next year,” he said.

“CM Bhupesh Bagghel is accountable for the corruption that happened on his watch. He did not fulfil the promises he made to the farmers, youth, women and people belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the state,” Shah added.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are confident that we will make the country the third-biggest global economy,” the Union Home Minister said.

The Chhattisgarh Assembly polls are scheduled to be held later this year. (ANI)

Priyanka, Rahul, Soniaji Are Fearless: Robert Vadra

Slamming Bharatiya Janata Party over complaints against Congress leaders on their allegations of corruption in Madhya Pradesh, businessman Robert Vadra on Monday said that governments formed by BJP by toppling governments “will not last long” and Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi are “fearless”.

Robert Vadra, who is the husband of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, told ANI that he was not surprised at the action of BJP government in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh Police have registered an FIR against “handlers” of the ‘X’ (twitter) accounts of Priyanka Gandhi,  state Congress chief Kamal Nath and party leader Arun Yadav over allegations of corruption in Madhya Pradesh government.

Robert Vadra said the more the pressure is exerted on Congress leaders by the BJP,  more strongly they will rise.

“I am not surprised. This is their method to create a perception. This was the same in Karnataka, there was ’40 per cent commission’ govt. The same is here (Madhya Pradesh). Wherever they topple government and run their own politics – that government will not go on for long and people will revolt…Priyanka is fearless, Rahul is fearless, Soniaji is fearless, we will put forth the people’s voice…They will put pressure on us either legally or through agencies or some other way. But the more pressure they put on us, the more we will rise strongly,” Robert Vadra told ANI.

Indore Police said on Saturday that a BJP office-bearer Nimesh Pathak lodged a complaint which said that “a fake letter” bearing the name of a person named, Gyanendra Awasthi, was being circulated on social media with allegations that the contractors in the state were being asked to pay 50 per cent commission.

In her tweet, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra referred to a media report and made allegations against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

“A Union of Contractors in Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court complaining that payment is received only after paying 50 per cent commission in the state. The corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to collect a 40 per cent commission. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP has gone ahead by breaking its own record of corruption. The people of Karnataka ousted the government with  40 per cent commission, now the people of Madhya Pradesh will remove the BJP government with a 50 per cent commission from power,” Priyanka said in a tweet. Navjot sidhu After Release From Jail

Democracy In Chains…: Navjot Sidhu After Release From Jail

Soon after walking out of Patiala jail, where he was lodged for nearly 10 months in connection with a road rage case, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday said that democracy is in chains and that there is a conspiracy to bring President’s Rule in Punjab.

“Democracy is in chains. There is no such thing as democracy right now. Conspiracy to bring President’s Rule in Punjab. Minorities being targeted. If you try to weaken Punjab, you will become weak,” he told reporters here.
He said that he was supposed to be released around noon but they [jail officials] delayed it as they wanted press persons to leave.

Expressing his support for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was recently disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP, he said that the former Wayanad MP will rattle the government.

“Whenever a dictatorship came to this country a revolution has also come and this time, the name of that revolution is Rahul Gandhi. He will rattle the government,” he said.

On a question about the fugitive pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh, Sidhu said that on the situation of law and order in the State he will speak at the home of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Sidhu was released from Patiala Jail today, after spending 10 months in jail.

Sidhu was sentenced to one-year jail by Supreme Court in a three-decade-old road rage case.

Scores of people had gathered outside Sidhu’s residence, who danced on Dhol beats and welcomed the Congress leader by showering petals on him.

The Congress leader was sentenced to one year imprisonment by the Supreme Court in May last year in the 1988 case of road rage in which he allegedly thrashed one Gurnam Singh, who later died in hospital.

Punjab Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa said on Friday that the Punjab government has no objection to Sidhu’s release.

“The issue of the release of prisoners whose sentence has been completed is approved by the cabinet. Those who have completed their sentence will be released,” Jimpa said.

The Supreme Court allowed the review application on the issue of sentence against Sidhu.

“We have allowed review application on the issue of sentence. In addition to the fine imposed, we impose a sentence of imprisonment of one year to be undergone by respondent Sidhu,” the court said.

The order was delivered by a bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjay Kishan Kaul.

The case has gone through Sessions Court, High Court and Supreme Court. (ANI)

Sonia Congress Leaders

Sonia, Congress Leaders Pay Tributes To Parl Attack Martyrs

Congress leader and Waynad MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday remembered the security personnel, who laid their lives during the terror attack in Parliament in 2001, by saying that their sacrifice inspires us to dedicate everything in the service of the country.

“I pay tribute to the heroes of the country who laid down their lives to protect the honour of India on this day in 2001, during the dastardly terrorist attack on Parliament. The whole country is indebted to their sacrifice, which inspires us to dedicate everything to the service of the country,” the Congress leader tweeted in Hindi.

Congress Party former president Sonia Gandhi paid floral tributes to the victims on the 21st anniversary of the Parliament Attack on Tuesday.

Sonia Gandhi was accompanied by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to the Parliament.

Earlier on Tuesday, Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the nation in paying tributes to the security personnel and victims who lost their lives while defending the Parliament 21 years ago.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Cabinet Ministers, and Parliamentarians also paid floral tribute to the security personnel and victims, who sacrificed their lives in defending the Parliament during the terror attack in 2001.

President of India Droupadi Murmu also remembered the victims.

“The nation pays homage to the valiant martyrs who laid down their lives while defending the Parliament against terrorist attack on this day in 2001. We will always remain grateful to the bravehearts for their courage and supreme sacrifice,” a tweet from Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also paid tributes to the victims of the Parliament attack.

Taking to Twitter, Union Minister said, “Tributes to the brave personnel who sacrificed their lives while protecting our Parliament against the dastardly terrorist attack on this day in 2001. Their supreme sacrifice and bravery will never be forgotten.”

The tributes reminded everyone about the horrific terror attack on the Indian Parliament on December 13, 2001.

It may be recalled that it was on December 13, 2001, that Jagdish, Matbar, Kamlesh Kumari; Nanak Chand and Rampal, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Delhi Police; Om Prakash, Bijender Singh and Ghanshyam, Head Constables in Delhi Police; and Deshraj, a gardener, CPWD, had sacrificed their lives while defending the Parliament against the terrorist attack.

The perpetrators belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)– two Pakistan-raised terrorist organisations– attacked the Parliament on December 13, 2001, that led to the deaths of five Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, one CRPF Constable and a gardener and led to increased tensions between India and Pakistan, resulting in the 2001-2002 India-Pakistan standoff.

A total of five terrorists, who infiltrated the Parliament in a car with Home Ministry and Parliament labels, were killed on December 13, 2001 attack.

More than 100 people, including major politicians, were inside the parliament building at the time. The gunmen used a fake identity sticker on the car they drove and thus easily breached the security deployed around the parliamentary complex. The terrorists carried AK47 rifles, grenade launchers and pistols.

The gunmen drove their vehicle into the car of Indian Vice President Krishan Kant (who was in the building at the time), got out, and began shooting. The Vice President’s guards and security personnel shot back at the terrorists and then started closing the gates of the compound.

Indian security agencies and the Delhi Police officials said that gunmen received instructions from Pakistan and the operation was carried out under the guidance of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi said BJP Should Apologise

BJP Should Apologise For Using Vanvasi Term: RaGa

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) should apologise for using the word “Vanvasi” (forest dweller).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a new word in his speech and he called Adivasis as “Vanvasis”.
Gandhi made an announcement that if Congress comes back to power in Madhya Pradesh, the word ‘Vanvasi’ would be abolished and the tribals would be given their rights.

He made the remark while addressing the public gathering during Bharat Jodo Yatra at Tantya Mama’s birthplace, Baroda Ahir village in the Khandwa district. He also garlanded the Tantya Mama’s statue.

He said, “Vanvasi means the tribal is not the first owner of the country. They are the only owner of the forest. They don’t have rights outside the forest. The forests are slowly being cut down and then they will be thrown out of the forest.”

“In MP, most of the atrocities would have been on tribal. Adivasi means first in India. When no one lived in this country then Adivasi used to live here. Tribal is the real owner of this country. They have the first right to land, water, and forest. Their children should get rights. If their child wants to become an engineer or doctor, the government should help them,” the Congress leader added.

“Thinking about Tantya Mama’s name, the first word that comes to mind is revolutionary fearless. But when Tantya Mama was hanged by the British, the RSS was helping the British government,” Gandhi alleged. (ANI)

Refuge In Assam After Violence

Himanta’s Saddam Dig For Rahul; Cong Retorts At His Stunt

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s bearded appearance, which he said resembled that of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Addressing a campaign rally in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, the Assam chief minister said, “If he (Rahul Gandhi) wanted to change his looks, why did not he choose to look like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel or Jawaharlal Nehru? Even Gandhi Ji’s look would have been better, but why is he changing his face to look like Saddam Hussein now?”
Sarma also hit out at the Congress leader’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and said, “Rahul Gandhi is visiting places where there are no elections.”

Soon after the statement of the Assam CM went viral on social media platforms, Congress leaders termed it as a “stunt”.

“You (Assam CM) just want a headline and you get that only when you take Rahul Gandhi’s name. Himanta Biswa Sarma can say anything. He can go to any level for power. We don’t pay attention to such statement,” Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah said while speaking to ANI.

Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas also condemned the Assam CM’s remark against Rahul Gandhi and said, “He (Assam CM Sarma) is the same person who used to praise Rahul Gandhi, and now he is giving such shameful statements and comparing Rahul Gandhi with Saddam Hussein.”

“People like Sarma are criminals and he will never become the Chief Minister again. BJP must learn from Rahul Gandhi. India is in his DNA, and he considers the national flag his religion,” Khachariyawas said. (ANI)

Congress leader Ajay Maken

Cong Alleges Corruption In Kejriwal’s Electricity Model, Demands CBI Probe

Congress leader and former Delhi Power Minister Ajay Maken has targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s electricity model and termed it as the “corruption” model.

Releasing a booklet along with the affidavit, Maken said that the electricity rate in Delhi is the highest in the country. The industrial rate is Rs 13/unit and the commercial rate is Rs 16.09/unit. Whereas in neighbouring states like Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, it is very less, he added.
Between 2014 and 2019, 2,638 factories were closed or migrated, due to which 1,38,000 jobs were lost.

The manufacturing sector in Delhi was growing at the rate of 12 percent during Congress rule, but it has come down to below 1 percent i.e. 74 percent in the last six years, Maken claimed.

Kejriwal’s electricity model is the reason for rising unemployment in Delhi, he alleged.

Due to the privatization done during the Sheila Dixit government, Delhi has the least power theft, while the electricity rate is the highest. The electricity theft figure was 45.3 percent in 2002, which is now only 8.9 percent, he said.

In the last five years, the average rate of electricity has increased up to Rs 2.45/unit electricity and distribution companies have earned Rs 1,746 crore annually in one year, yet why are electricity rates increasing? he asked.

“Delhi government gives money directly to private companies without audit. Instead of providing Rs 14,731 crore as a power subsidy to consumers, it is being given directly to private companies. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party had earlier said in its manifesto that the subsidy would be given to government companies instead of private companies. With this much money, consumers can get up to 500 units of free electricity. If the Congress government comes, they will do it,” he further said.

“Delhi government has appointed Aam Aadmi Party’s treasurer and MP ND Gupta’s son Naveen Gupta as director of the electricity company, Kejriwal should answer this,” he stated.

There are 58 lakh domestic consumers in Delhi. The Delhi government used to say that 90 percent of the consumers are taking advantage of the subsidy. Now only 37 lakh i.e. contrary to the claim, only 60 percent of consumers got registered in the Delhi government’s Voluntary Scheme. So till now why this 30 percent fake consumers’ money was given to a private company? he asked.

Maken claimed that unemployment has increased in Delhi due to expensive electricity in Kejriwal’s electricity model and corruption of crores has taken place in the name of 30 percent fake consumers.

Maken has demanded a CBI inquiry, terming the 30 percent fake consumer case as a power subsidy scam.

Making it Kejriwal’s “BBB” model, Maken said that it is an electricity, unemployment, and corruption model. “We will take this among the people in Gujarat and also tell the people there that, if unemployment is to be increased and industries are to be closed, only then give Kejriwal a chance. The Congress will use this booklet extensively in the MCD and Gujarat elections as well.” (ANI)

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai hits back congress

Bommai Hits Back At Cong Amid Voters Data Theft Charge

The Congress government made use of the entire information of the state but still lost the election, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday, adding that the Congress leaders were issuing ‘desparate’ statements.

Speaking to reporters on the charges by Congress leaders on the misuse of the election nomination paper, the CM said the previous Congress government headed by chief minister Siddaramaiah spent Rs 130 crore to carry out a socio-economic survey of the state, which included caste, sub-caste among other aspects and prepared a huge document.
Instead of making it public, the same was used for the election purpose, the CM alleged.

The current government was in no way connected with it, the CM said, adding that if this thing happened at a lower level, it will be enquired and the guilty will be punished.

Earlier on Thursday, Congress attacked the Karnataka chief minister alleging that he was directly involved in the electoral fraud that has come to light in Bengaluru.

“Shocking expose reveals that those in power, including Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, are responsible for theft of voters data, fraud and impersonation,” Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said at a press conference in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Surjewala demanded a high-level probe in the matter claiming that a private agency named ‘Chilume’ was authorised by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) — the urban local civic body of Bengaluru — to carry out a door-to-door survey of voters in the city.

He alleged that the agency collected the personal details of voters, which tantamounts to a breach of privacy, adding that it was a ‘fraud’ on Bangaloreans.

“CM Bommai, his officials, govt officers, BBMP people, and the state election authority are partners in crime,” Surjewala alleged.

The Congress leader claimed there was no prior intimation on the door-to-door survey, and CM Bommai was responsible for electoral fraud.

“CM Bommai is the BBMP’s minister in charge and its chief commissioner is Bengaluru’s electoral officer. A private entity, Chilume Edu Institute, applies for permission for voter awareness. On being permitted, they commit the fraud of collecting voter data by impersonating booth-level officers,” he alleged.

An FIR should be filed against him (Bommai) and he should be arrested, the Congress leader said.

Surjewala also claimed that the agency had a freehand and its staff were given booth level officer (BLO) cards.

“The agency did not even upload voters’ information on Garuda — ECI app — but on Digital Sameeksha app, which is owned by a private company, for use by MPs, MLAs, and political parties,” Surjewala claimed. (ANI)
