Rajiv Shukla about Pakistan Zindabad Slogans

Pakistan Zindabad Slogans In Bharat Jodo Yatra A False Claim: Shukla

Congress leader Rajiv Shukla on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s claim that the slogan of “Pakistan Zindabad” was raised during Bharat Jodo Yatra was “false”.

“BJP is nervous. The allegation is false. No slogan of Pakistan Zindabad was raised during the yatra,” Shukla said.
Congress leader Rajeev Shukla and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reached Indore airport today to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Talking about the Yatra, Shukla said that the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra would be successful like other yatras of the past.

“Such yatras have never failed, be it Shankaracharya ji’s yatra, Gandhi’s Dandi March, Chandrashekhar ji’s yatra, YS Rajasekhar’s yatra, all have been successful,” Shukla further said.

A case has been registered in Chhattisgarh against Lokendra Parashar, BJP media in charge of Madhya Pradesh, who posted a video on his Twitter handle alleging that the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad was raised during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Shukla said that the BJP always does “fraud” and that is why they face FIR cases.

BJP leaders alleged participants in Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra shouted slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier on Friday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also claimed that “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were raised and said that he has ordered a probe into the incident.

‘Pakistan Zinabad’ slogans were openly raised in the Bharat Jodo yatra. It’s shameful, I’ve given orders to probe the incident. Divisive forces are brought into yatra,” CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

A controversy erupted after BJP state president VD Sharma and other party leaders posted a purported video of the yatra on social media claiming that ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans were raised at the rally.

However, Congress Party denied the claims, calling it a conspiracy by the BJP to defame Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo entered Madhya Pradesh on its 77th day of the Padyatra on Wednesday.

Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7 from Kanyakumari, will cover a further distance of 2,355 km in its 3,570-km march. It will end in Kashmir next year. It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress claimed earlier in a statement. Bharat Jodo Yatra is getting support from various political parties and social organizations across the country and the response is increasing day by day. (ANI)

Ayushmann Flaunts His Love For Rajma Chawal

Ayushmann Opens Up On Boycott Culture Against Bollywood

After delivering eye-catching and powerful performances across comedy, thriller, and family genres, actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s next release is a high-octane action flick titled ‘An Action Hero’.

The 38-year-old actor is busy with the promotions of his next along with its director Anirudh Iyer. Following promotions for their upcoming flick, the two sat down and shared some exclusive insights into their film with ANI, while also opening up on the alleged ‘boycott culture’ against Bollywood.
On the film’s relatability with the ‘boycott culture’, Ayushmann told ANI, “The plot of the film is based on this era and whatever we have seen in the last few years. Whatever has happened in the recent past or is happening now has also been portrayed well in the film. You will surely get a glimpse of it in the film. Be it a targeted online campaign against a star or how vulnerable a superstar could be, you will find it all in this film. The film, in a nutshell, portrays how society reacts to a star these days.”

On the so-called boycott culture, which has taken a toll on some big-budget releases, including Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshaye Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj, Iyer told ANI, “What’s happening is very evident but I would like to give an elaborate answer to this question. There are always two ways of looking at this — repercussion and punishment. I feel that nobody deserves to be punished this way. It is wrong. There is a slight difference between these two viewpoints and I strongly believe that one should understand this difference.”

In the film, the ‘Bala’ actor will be seen portraying the role of an actor who is being chased by the character portrayed by Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is produced by Anand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar.

It is all set to hit the theatres on December 2, 2022. The film marks the ‘Dream Girl’ actor’s first action-packed role.

Ayushmann also has several projects in his kitty, including the upcoming comedy ‘Dream Girl 2’ alongside Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, and Vijay Raaz. The film is all set to hit the theatres on June 23, 2023 (ANI)

China's bellicose ambitions

Italy Must Lead Europe Against China’s Bellicose Ambitions: Think Tank

Italian Senators through a dialogue on democracy urged the Italian government to lead Europe against China’s bellicose ambitions.

“When the Italian government under Prime Minister Conte signed the Belt and Road Initiative MoU with China, it was something “abnormal” said former Senator Luigi Campagna in the concluding remarks at the Dialogue on Democracy: The future of the Indo-Pacific, held in Rome on November 24th at Villa Malta.
The Dialogue on Democracy was launched in April 2022, to bring together members of parliament, social activists, and thought leaders from various democracies on one platform. “While action against China is important, it is essential for Italy to ally closely with India, as only this will help Italy counter Chinese pressure”, he said.

The event in Rome had Senator Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, President of the Permanent Commission on European Affairs of the Italian Senate launch the discussion by bringing into context the importance of the Indo-Pacific and the time in history today where there is a grouping of democracies and a grouping of autocracies, led by China.

While the new Italian government, led by Italy’s first female Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni is unlikely to renew the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) MoU signed by the previous government of Prime Minister Conte, it is also expected to be tough on China. Senator Terzi, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs and a career diplomat, has a long history of calling out China on its human rights abuses.

In a recent interview with the Italian magazine Verita, Senator Terzi said “The ecological transition as interpreted by China, with the senseless exploitation of African mineral resources, contributes to inhuman working conditions contrary to international conventions, to the depopulation of agricultural areas and in general to the impoverishment of vast territories. These are factors which in the last ten years have contributed to an increase in migratory flows towards Europe”.

“The Indo-Pacific is of strategic importance to Europe and Europe is unable to address this elephant in the room in one voice” said Thibault Muzergues, the Program Director for the International Republican Institute referring to Europe’s inability to deal with China with a united policy and voice. He also referred to Italy’s importance in developing an enlarged Mediterranean strategy that was directly connected to the Indo-Pacific. “We are now in a generational struggle between autocracies and democracies”, he said.

“All countries in the Pacific, except Russia and China, have a great interest in keeping the seas, from the North Sea to the Pacific, as free and liberal, not (as) Mare Nostrum, but Mare Liberum,” he added.

Laura Harth noted human rights activist and political analyst expressed her disappointment at a muted European policy which each country designed towards China depending on independent needs. While the Italian parliament was considering sanctions against China for their oppression of Uyghurs, parliamentarians were getting lobbied by Italian business people who called and wrote at the request of their Chinese partners, the Chinese consulate and embassy in Italy, and the Italian embassy in Beijing, she said. She also expressed her deep disappointment that European leaders still wait to be summoned to President Xi’s court and the pacification of Xi follows the same path as the pacification of Russian President Putin a decade ago, something that Europe and Italy are currently paying a heavy price with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Former Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Gianni Vernetti, who has written extensively about the struggles in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Tibet in his book “Dissidenti” (Dissidents, Rizzoli editors), spoke about the need stop tolerating China’s repressive policies, whether at home or abroad.

He mentioned China’s transition to absolute power, especially after the third election of President Xi Jinping as the supreme leader.

China’s aggression is not only a threat to the Tibetan or Taiwanese people but there is also no more Hong Kong left. Any hopes of the “one country two systems” promise made at unification now have been violently dashed by Beijing, a fate already faced by the Uyghurs, and Tibetans and awaiting Taiwan in case of unification.

“Europe must be united and aggressive in its answer and must lead as the head of all democracies against such bellicose ambitions,” he said.

Marco Respinti, editor of bitterwinter.org and veteran journalist brought up fears of being prosecuted even as a foreign citizen not living on Chinese territory, under new laws to suppress dissidence and free speech in China and Hong Kong.

With illegal Chinese police presence in almost all Western countries, including Italy, even non-Chinese nationals have to worry about expressing their opinions as journalists and private citizens when they speak against China, he cautioned.

Terzi summed up that Italy’s special transatlantic identity is on a different plane from even France and Germany. The current government will continue to persevere to defend democracy and freedoms, even in the face of great economic pressure from China. (ANI)

Operation Octopus

Ops Octopus Still On After Fall Of Naxal Bastion Of Burha Pahar

‘Operation Octopus’ is still continuing to dig out explosives and hidden arms and ammunition from the densely forested hilly range of the Naxal bastion of ‘Burha Pahar’ — a mountain range spread over 55 square km touching three districts of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh — which was captured by security forces in September this year.

‘Burha Pahar’, which touches Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur and Latehar as well as Jharkhand’s Garhwa districts, was captured in a joint operation of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) general duty battalions, its Naxal specialised wing CoBRA, Jharkhand Police, and Jharkhand Jaguar– a special force of Jharkhand Police.
Once known for the Naxal operation base led by the dreaded Naxal Arvind Ji, a Core Committee Member of Naxals who died in 2018, ‘Burha Pahar’ had been an impregnable Naxal bastion for 32 years.

A total of 646 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 18 factory-made regular arms including one light machine gun, 1,588 ammunition, 22 magazines, one grenade launcher, 85 grenades, 200 grenade arming rings, 78 pressure cooker IEDs and arrow bombs, Insas Rifles, Carbines, SLR Rifles, LMG with bipod are among several other items have been recovered since the ‘Operation Octopus’ was launched. These recoveries were made between September 5 and September 24.

Explaining operational details of ‘Operation Octopus’ Inspector General of Jharkhand Sector CRPF Amit Kumar, IPS, who played a key role in the plan, told ANI: “Burha Pahar stretch across 3 districts along Jharkhand and Chattisgarh border. It was a stronghold of the Naxals. ‘Operation Octopus’ was launched in two phases. The first phase was held in August when security personnel toured Naxal hideout spots.

“The second phase was held in September where four camps were established in the region. Our forces are sanitizing the area. Arms and ammunition of Naxals are being recovered. A total of 646 Nos IEDs has been recovered so far from the region between September 5 to September 24.”

Mentioning that “our teams are in a dominant position in the region”, Kumar said, “The operation will continue until and unless we completely dismantle Naxal infrastructure in the region.”

The officer said, “Jharkhand is on the way to becoming Naxal-free”. “Main strongholds Burha Pahar, trijunction of Chaibasa, Khunti, and Saraikela, and Parasnath Mountain are in our control. Another concentration left in Chaibasa, we will take control of it in the next 1-2 months.”

He further said as security forces build camps in the Naxal-affected areas, development works to usher in the region. “Roads are built, electricity supply comes into the region, and normal business activities are initiated.”

“People in Naxal-affected areas now benefit from health and education facilities and welfare schemes. These regions didn’t have the basic infrastructure for the last four decades,” Kumar added.

The hilly forested terrain of Burha Pahar was used as a corridor by the Naxals till the success of ‘Operation Octopus”. Security forces also made earlier attempts but success was not achieved. In 2018, six security personnel lost their lives in a major operation.

Asked about known Naxals in the region, an officer said Saurabh alias Markus baba, Naveen Yadav, and Santu Bhuiyan- all carrying bounty between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh — are active in the region.

CRPF’s 203 CoBRA battalion, 205 CoBRA Batallion, its regular Battalions (172, 218, and 62), and state police forces like Jharkhand Jaguar are still engaged in the operation since the beginning. (ANI)

Akshay Pays Tribute To 26/11 Victims

Akshay Pays Tribute To 26/11 Victims, Bravehearts

Actor Akshay Kumar on Saturday paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.

Taking to Twitter, Akshay dropped a poster of people who died in the Mumbai terror attack along with a caption. He wrote, “Remembering the innocent victims and these Bravehearts of the #MumbaiTerrorAttack who laid down their lives 14 years ago on 26/11. #NeverForget.”

The ghastly attacks, which began on November 26, 2008, lasted for four days and at least 174 people, including 20 security force personnel and 26 foreign nationals, were killed and more than 300 others injured in the terror attacks carried out by 10 gunmen from Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Armed with automatic weapons and hand grenades, the terrorists targeted civilians at numerous sites in the southern part of Mumbai, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station, the popular Leopold Cafe, two hospitals, and a theatre.

While most of the attacks ended within a few hours after they began at around 9.30 p.m. on November 26, the terror continued to unfold at three locations where hostages were taken – the Nariman House, where a Jewish outreach centre was located, and the luxury hotels Oberoi Trident and Taj Mahal Palace and Tower.

After the attack, it was established that the 10 terrorists had sailed to Mumbai from Pakistan’s port city, Karachi. Their voyage to Mumbai involved hijacking a fishing dingy and killing four of the five men crew, leaving one occupant to ferry them to the Mumbai coast.

In these gruesome attacks, 9 terrorists were killed and the lone survivor, Ajmal Amir Kasab, was caught and later hanged at Yerwada Central Jail in Pune in 2012.

Meanwhile, Akshay was recently seen in an action-adventure film ‘Ram Setu’ alongside Jacqueline Fernandez which got decent responses at the box office.

He will be next seen in an upcoming entertainer film ‘Selfie’ along with Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty and in Anand L Rai’s next ‘Gorkha’. (ANI)

S Jaishankar on Russian oil imports

Planners Of 26/11 Must Be Brought To Justice: Jaishankar

Terrorism threatens humanity, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday, as he remembered the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

He also said those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice.
“Terrorism threatens humanity. Today, on 26/11, the world joins India in remembering its victims. Those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice. We owe this to every victim of terrorism around the world,” Jaishankar tweeted.

In 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists (LeT) carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks killing at least 166 people and leaving 300 wounded.

Last month, India hosted the two-day anti-terrorism meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), under India’s chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC).

After the meeting, a Delhi Declaration was issued which underlined that terrorists’ opportunity to access safe havens continues to be a significant concern and that all Member States must cooperate fully in the fight against terrorism.

The Declaration also recognized that terrorism in all forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.

During UNSC’s special meeting, Jaishankar highlighted that the global threat of terrorism is growing and expanding, particularly in Asia and Africa, despite the UNSC’s best efforts to combat the “gravest threat to humanity”.

“Terrorism remains the gravest threat to humanity. The UN Security Council in the past two decades has evolved an important architecture built, primarily around the counter-terrorism sanctions regime to combat this menace. This has effectively put the countries on notice that had turned terrorism into a state-funded enterprise.”

“Despite this, the threat of terrorism is only growing and expanding, particularly in Asia and Africa, as successive reports of 1267 sanctions committee monitoring reports have highlighted,” he added.

Jaishnkar told CTC members that their presence in Delhi at the special meeting demonstrated the importance that the UNSC member states and a wide range of stakeholders, place on this critical and emerging facet of terrorism. (ANI)

Satyendar Jain Tihar Jail

Tihar Jail Supt Among Others Seen Interacting With Jain

Fresh CCTV footage of jailed Delhi minister Satyendar Jain has emerged from Tihar Jail in which the Aam Aadmi Party leader is seen in conversation with some people, including the Jail superintendent Ajit Kumar who is currently under suspension.

In the purported videos sourced from Tihar Jail, Jain can be seen lying on his bed and Ajit Kumar is seated on a chair nearby while the pair apparently seem to be having a conversation. Kumar was suspended as Tihar Jail Superintendant on November 14 for allegedly providing special treatment to the Delhi minister.
At the beginning of the footage from earlier this September, the Delhi minister is seen interacting with several people who leave before Ajit Kumar enters Jain’s cell.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla tweeted the footage and posted on his Twitter account, “Yet another video of Tihar put out by the media. This time the Satyendar ka darbaar has a Jail superintendent who has now been suspended.”

“After maalish by child rapist & Nawabi meal now this! This is corruption therapy of AAP but Kejriwal ji defends this! Will he sack SJ now?,” Shehzad Jai Hind’s Twitter handle tweeted.

The new CCTV footage came after the Tihar Jail Superintendent was suspended for allegedly providing special treatment to jailed Jain.

Meanwhile, earlier on November 23, Jain had filed an application in a Delhi court seeking direction to restrain all media organizations from airing, broadcasting, or publishing any CCTV clip related to him.

The plea stated that all the national media are regularly running CCTV footage of Satyendar Jain. A parallel media trial is going against him, despite the present matter being examined by this court, argued senior advocate Rahul Mehra who appeared for Jain.

Two days back, a video emerged showing Jain having an elaborate meal inside. Jain was seen having food including fruits and dry fruits.

The video of having a meal came out just a day after footage of the minister receiving an oil massage inside his jail cell trigged an uproar.

Tihar Jail sources also said that the Delhi minister gained 8 kg weight during his time in jail, contrary to his lawyer’s claims of him having lost 28 kgs.

The new footage surfaced a day after Jain submitted before the trial court that he has not been getting privileges like proper food and medical check-up in Tihar Jail. He had also claimed that he lost 28 kg while being locked up in jail.

On Tuesday, the minister’s counsel Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra had alleged that Enforcement Directorate was leaking sensitive information to the media despite the order of the Court and undertaking given in this court.

Rahul Mehra also denied ED allegations of getting privileged treatment in Tihar Jail. He asked, “What privilege are they talking about?”

“I have lost 28 kg in jail. Is this what a privileged person in jail gets? I’m not even getting proper food. What privilege are they talking about? No prison rules are violated if an undertrial is pressing his hand or feet,” Jain said.

However, appearing for ED, advocate Zohaib Hossain denied the allegations made by Satyendar Jain’s lawyer and said that there is not a single leak from the Enforcement Directorate.

Purported videos of the minister getting a massage inside his cell in Tihar went viral on social media. The Aam Aadmi Party however asserted that Jain was receiving physiotherapy.

Sources reported on Tuesday that the person administering massage to Jain was not a physiotherapist, furthermore, he has been identified as a rape accused too.

Jailed Delhi Minister was being given a massage by an accused in a rape case, the official sources claimed on Tuesday.

The Tihar Jail official sources claimed that the prisoner, identified as Rinku, was “not a physiotherapist” and has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

“The masseur providing massage to jailed Delhi min Satyendar Jain is a prisoner Rinku. He’s a prisoner in a rape case, charged u/s 6 of the POCSO Act and 376, 506 & 509 of IPC. He’s not a physiotherapist,” the sources claimed.

The purported CCTV footage dated September 13 shows the minister lying on his bed while a man seated next to him is seen massaging his foot.

Jain has been in jail since June. A Delhi court denied his bail application on November 16. (ANI)

WJC Joins Indian Govt To Mourn Victims Of 26/11 Attacks

In order to raise concerns regarding terrorism and honour the memory of people who were killed in the deadly incident, the World Jewish Congress (WJC) has joined the Indian government to mourn the lives of 166 innocent victims who were killed in deadly Mumbai terrorist attacks on 26 November 2008, ahead of its fourteenth anniversary.

According to the World Jewish Congress, the terrorist attack shook the human conscience and drew widespread global condemnation and the Jewish community, equally became a target during the attacks.
Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his pregnant wife Rivka, as well as four other captives at the Mumbai Chabad House who were killed by the terrorists, were among the casualties.

Meanwhile, in the Hague, global human rights defenders held a demonstration in front of the peace palace in Hague to commemorate the Mumbai terror attack on November 26, 2008, and raised voices against ‘ruthless terrorism’ and demanded justice from Pakistan, according to the press statement released by Global Human Rights Defence.

The three-day siege in Mumbai began on November 26, 2008, when ten terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) organisation arrived by sea and started the fire, killing 166 people, including 18 security officials, and injuring over 300 others.

The 10 terrorists travelled from Pakistan’s Karachi to Mumbai across the Arabian Sea by hijacking a Kuber fishing trawler, killing all the crew and then arriving in an inflatable speedboat after killing the captain. They docked at Mumbai’s waterfront near the Gateway of India, hijacked cars, including a police van, and split into at least three groups to carry out the attacks to maximize damage, the statement reads.

Among the attackers, two gunmen namely Ismail Khan and Ajmal Kasab attacked Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). They entered the passenger hall and opened fire, killing 58 innocent people and wounding 104.

After that, both of the gunmen fled from the site and fired on pedestrians and police officers in the streets, killing 8 police officers. After CSMT, the attackers’ new target was the hospital. But the hospital staff members sealed off the patient wards and saved many lives, according to the statement.

Kasab and Khan seized a passenger car. They then drove towards a police roadblock, where a shootout ensued that killed Khan and arrested Kasab.

Another target was the Leopold Cafe, a popular restaurant and bar in South Mumbai, which was attacked by 2 other attackers, Shoaib alias Soho and Nazir alias Abu. Later on, they attacked two five-star hotels, Taj Mahal Palace and Oberoi Trident.

Firefighters and police officers rescued more than 200 hostages on the first day. Both hotels were surrounded by members of the Rapid Action Force, Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and National Security Guards (NSG) commandos.

Security forces eventually stormed into the hotels and all nine attackers were killed by the morning of November 29, the statement reads. (ANI)
