Modi To Name 21 Islands After Param Vir Chakra Awardees

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be participating in an event via video conferencing to name the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees on the occasion of Parakram Diwas on Monday.

January 23rd is marked as Parakram Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

“Tomorrow, on the day of bravery, there will be a special program in honor of the heroic children of Mother India. Will be a part of it through video conferencing at 11 am. During this, 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman-Nicobar will be named after 21 Param Vir Chakra winners,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

The PMO further informed that PM Modi will also unveil the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.

Neil Island and Havelock Island were also renamed as Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep.

“Giving due respect to the real-life heroes of the country has always been accorded the highest priority by the Prime Minister. The largest unnamed island will be named after the first Param Vir Chakra awardee, the second largest unnamed island will be named after the second Param Vir Chakra awardee, and so on.

This step will be an everlasting tribute to our heroes, several of whom had made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

“These islands have been named after the 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees, viz. Major Somnath Sharma; Subedar and Hony Captain (then Lance Naik) Karam Singh, MM; 2nd Lt. Some People Consider BBC Above SC: Kiren Rijiju Over Documentary

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday took on the “malicious campaigns” inside and outside India in connection to the UK’s British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and said that some people “consider the BBC above the Supreme Court of India”.

The Union Minister alleged that they “lower” the country’s dignity and image to any extent to “please their moral masters”.
Taking to Twitter, Rijiju said that minorities in the country are moving ahead positively.

“Minorities, or for that matter every community in India is moving ahead positively. India’s image cannot be disgraced by malicious campaigns launched inside or outside India. PM @narendramodi Ji’s voice is the voice of 1.4 billion Indians,” Rijiju tweeted.

“Some people in India still haven’t gotten over the colonial intoxication. They consider BBC above the Supreme Court of India and lower the country’s dignity and image to any extent to please their moral masters,” the Minister added (roughly translated from Hindi).

He said that there is no hope from these people whose “only aim is to weaken India”.

“Anyway, there is no better hope from these tukde tukde gang members whose only aim is to weaken the might of India,” Rijiju tweeted.

Earlier, former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Sanjeev Tripathi slammed UK’s British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for its documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it “prejudiced, biased and full of factual errors”.

He added that the documentary needs to be condemned by everyone.

Speaking to ANI, Tripathi questioned the BBC’s intent behind the documentary on PM Modi, which he said seems ‘motivated’. He said the documentary features the 2002 Gujarat riots and the Godhra train burning incident, which preceded it, adding that the Supreme Court recently gave PM Modi a clean chit in the case.

“This documentary of BBC, which claims to examine the so-called tensions between Hindus and Muslims in India, and in that context, talks about again the so-called controversial policies of Prime Minister Modi, is not only prejudiced but is also biased and full of factual errors,” he said.

In a strong response to the BBC documentary, more than 300 eminent Indians, including retired judges, bureaucrats, and armed forces veterans signed a statement slamming the British national broadcaster for showing “unrelenting prejudice” towards India and its leader. (ANI)

BJP Mamata Nadda

Pressing the Wrong Button Brings Mafia Raj: Nadda Targets BSP MP

Noting that voting right is crucial in a democracy, Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda said on Friday that pressing the “wrong button” results in the “mafia raj” but pressing the right button results in the formation of a medical college.

Addressing a public meeting at ITI ground in Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, Nadda lauded the infrastructure development taking place in Uttar Pradesh. He termed the development of the state as ‘HIRA’
“Today, I say that development means HIRA — H for Highway, I for Internet, R for Railways and A for Airways,” he said.

Add waterways to this, he continued, as Uttar Pradesh is now connected to the eastern port by the River Ganga.

The BJP chief earlier took part in the felicitation ceremony of the ex-servicemen.

In his remarks at the public meeting, Nadda talked about the pace of development in Uttar Pradesh under the BJP government.

“Today, when I was coming (from Kashi), I saw Ghazipur has changed a lot. Earlier, it took hours to reach Ghazipur from Kashi. Today, it took just one-and-a-half-hour,” he said.

Nadda said this became possible because the people of the state properly used the power of their vote.

He said India would soon become the world’s fourth-largest economy.

Referring to India’s growing power under the Modi government, Nadda said that in 2014, 92 percent of mobiles used to come from outside and today 97 percent of mobile phones are being made in India.

“We have become the second-largest manufacturer of steel. India is giving the cheapest medicine to the world. The country has become the dispensary of the world. We are at the forefront of chemicals. India has overtaken Japan to become the third-largest country in the automobile industry,” he said.

Nadda also said during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister set up a task force and in just eight months, the country received two vaccines.

“You will be surprised to learn that whereas vaccination rates are currently 100 percent in India, they are only 74 percent in America,” he said.

The BJP said that Uttar Pradesh is moving forward by leaps and bounds under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“During the government of Akhilesh Yadav, when we used to send money, it used to go somewhere else as there was a hole in the bowl of the state government. No work was done on the ground using that money,” he said.

“Kidnapping, hooliganism, land grabbing, and mafia raj were all common at the time,” he alleged.

Nadda said BJP has provided relief to the common man.

“Today, the picture of villages has changed. People used to carry lanterns because there were no lights in the UP villages earlier. Every village in the state now receives enough electricity.”

Nadda slammed BSP MP from Ghazipur Afzal Ansari, brother of gangster Mukhtar Ansari, and said “the MP you elected from here has nothing to do with the people here”.

“Their only task is to figure out how to get ‘Bhaiya’ out of jail,” he said.

Addressing the ex-servicemen, Nadda said that the Indian Army is considered to be the most powerful army in the world. In any kind of crisis, Indian soldiers have sacrificed their lives and have protected the country and the border.

He said that India’s defense exports have also increased almost eight times.

In 2014, the country’s defense exports were Rs 1941 crore and have increased to almost Rs 12000 crore today and there has been an increase of about 54.12 percent in comparison to the year 2020-21.

Now around 300 defense items will be made in India and this will reduce our dependence on other countries.

Ghazipur is among the few seats BJP lost in Uttar Pradesh in the last Lok Sabha election. The party is putting special efforts to strengthen itself on seats it lost in the 2019 general election in the state.

Nadda’s tenure as BJP chief was extended in the BJP National Executive meeting held in the national capital earlier this month. (ANI)

TN BJP Passes Resolution Against Stalin For Disrespectful Remarks Against Governor

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday passed a resolution in the party’s executive meeting at Cuddalore against Chief Minister MK Stalin seeking his apology for ‘disrespectful’ remarks against Governor RN Ravi.

This comes after Stalin on January 14 took a veiled dig at Governor RN Ravi without mentioning his name during a Youth wing event organised to remember DMK founder Peraringar Anna.
“Today someone is lamenting that the name of Tamil Nadu should not be used. We should not give more importance to such publicity campaigns,” Stalin said.

In the BJP resolution passed today, the party condemned the state government for the incident which occurred during the Governor’s customary address at the opening session of the House in which Congress and the VCK, started raising slogans against the Governor and staged a walkout.

The resolution also condemned the Stalin government for not arresting RS Bharathi and Sivaji Krishnamoorthy who allegedly humiliated the Governor.

“If the Governor refuses to utter the name of Ambedkar in his Assembly speech, do I not have the right to assault him?” If you (Governor) do not read out the speech given by the Tamil Nadu government, then go to Kashmir, and we will send terrorists so that they’ll gun you down,” Krishnamoorthy had said.

The BJP also condemned Stalin for using ‘disrespectful’ language against the Governor.

During the meeting, it was also decided that BJP state chief Annamalai would start his yatra across the state from Tiruchendur on April 14. Further details on the yatra will be revealed later.

On Wednesday, January 9, the Governor sparked a controversy with his statement that the name ‘Thamizhagam’ would be more appropriate for the state.

Governor Ravi’s remark during his customary address at the opening session of the House on Monday, triggered an uproar, especially from the Treasury benches.

Legislators of Congress and the VCK staged a walkout.

Congress and Communist parties and other allies protested outside Raj Bhavan against TN Governor RN Ravi earlier over the speech row. CPM protested today near Little Mount. (ANI)

Cong Has Launched “Bharat Todo Yatra”: Union Min Jitender Singh

BJP leader and Union minister Jitender Singh on Thursday termed the Bharat Jodo Yatra launched by the Congress as Bharat “Todo” Yatra.

Singh reminded that when the BJP started the Ekta Yatra led by Dr Murli Manohar Joshi in 1992 and hoisted the tricolour at Lal Chowk with Narendra Modi, the Congress-led collision opposed it and adopted the policy of “oppression.”
“BJP leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely and Anant Kumar, were also not allowed to enter J&K and were arrested at Srinagar Airport,” Singh said.

He asked if it was possible to forget the whole episode. “At that time J&K ruling parties and Congress also adopted an oppression policy to demoralize the yatra,” he claimed.

In fact, the Congress’ Yatra is “Bharat Todo (break) Yatra, not Bharat Jodo yatra.” It was launched to “show affection to people whose politics is based on separatism,” he alleged.

Notably, Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Jammu and Kashmir on January 19 where Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah Sanjay Raut, MY Tarigami, and Mehbooba Mufti will join the yatra at different locations.

Singh further alleged that the Congress failed to do what was required for the people of J&K. “PM Modi abrogated article 370 and made the J&K an integral part of India,” (ANI)

Delhi Assembly: BJP MLAs Sport Oxygen Cylinders, Gas Masks

Delhi Assembly: BJP MLAs Sport Oxygen Cylinders, Gas Masks

MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday turned up to participate in the Delhi Assembly session carrying oxygen cylinders and wearing oxygen masks to highlight the issue of air pollution in the national capital.

The fourth part of the Assembly Session began today at 11 am.
The BJP and the ruling Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had recently faced off during the mayoral election of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Air pollution in the city has often been a source of friction between the two parties and had cropped up as a major issue during the recently held civic polls in the city.

The BJP has been blaming the AAP government for its failure to control the pollution in the national capital.

“With a gas cylinder in tow, I would raise the voice of Delhi’s two crore people who have been forced to live in a gas chamber, in the Delhi assembly. The AAP government must come clean on what they have done to make Delhi pollution free,” MLA Vijender Gupta said in a tweet.

Along with Gupta Leader of Opposition of the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidguri along with OP Sharma and Abhay Verma arrive for the session carrying oxygen cylinders and donning oxygen masks.

The air quality in Delhi continued to be in the “very poor” category with the overall air quality index (AQI) at 337 on Monday morning.

The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas, following its meeting on January 15, has decided to revoke its January 6 order where it had imposed several restrictions under stage III of GRAP, under which all non-essential construction and demolition activities were banned in the national capital territory.

However, considering the current scenario, actions under Stage I and Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan will remain invoked, said the commission. These restrictions will be implemented, monitored and reviewed by all concerned agencies in the NCR to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further to the severe category.

The commission said that the sub-committee will be keeping a close watch on the air quality scenario and would review the situation depending on the air quality and the forecast made by the India Meteorological Department from time to time.

Meanwhile, in view of the tussle between the elected government and the Lieutenant Governor in the past days regarding the powers of the government in Delhi, it is believed that the MLAs of the ruling party may come up with a proposal to discuss this issue in the assembly today.

There is a possibility of discussion on the issue that the elected government should retain the right to give orders to the officials for development works in Delhi.

It is worth mentioning that several times in the past, the Privilege Committee of the Delhi Assembly, has summoned officers on various issues and reprimanded them. The Privilege Committee has also questioned the officials, especially in the matters of the Delhi Jal Board fund and the non-supply of medicines to Mohalla Clinics and hospitals.

It is to be noted that even before the commencement of the session, the BJP is besieging the government on this issue. On Friday itself, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Rambir Singh Bidhuri raised questions about the government by holding a press conference. He said that the government is evading accountability. Bidhuri has alleged that the Question Hour is not kept in the current session, he also demanded that instead of three days, the session should be of at least ten days.

In view of all these, it can be assumed that due to allegations and counter-allegations between BJP and AAP, the current session could be stormy.

Although, according to the list of businesses, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is to lay copies of the following on the Table of the House are, 7 Annual Report of Delhi Technological University for the year 2020-2023; CAG Audit Report on Annual Accounts of the Netaji Subhas University of Technology for the year 2009-10 to 2017-18 along with Action Taken Report; 19′ Annual Report of Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited for the Financial Year 2019 -20 (Hindi and English Version); 19th Annual Report of Pragati Power Corporation Limited for the Financial Year 2019 -20; Annual Report of Delhi Transco Limited for the Financial Year 2019-20.
