From Red Fort, Indians Were Called Lazy: Modi Targets Cong

Launching attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that there was a time in the country when Indians were labelled as “lazy” and “those running away from the hardwork” from the Red Fort.

Notably Prime Minister in the recently concluded Budget session had said that former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru considered Indians ‘lazy’ and ‘less intelligent’.

Addressing the News 9 Global Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said,” Those who ruled the country earlier never kept faith in the country’s potential. They underestimated the Indians. From the Red Fort, Indians were called sadists and those easily accept the sense of defeat. From the Red Fort, Indians were called lazy. It was said that Indians run away from doing hardwork.”

“When the leadership of the country is filled with so much pessimism, then how will the optimisim spread in the country,” he added.

Earlier, in an attack on the Congress party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his reply to the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address had said that former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru considered Indians ‘lazy’ and ‘less intelligent’.

Targeting the opposition, particularly the Congress party, the Prime Minister said that the country has suffered through the ‘mindset’ of the grand old party, which has never trusted the capabilities of the countrymen.

“The country has suffered through the mindset of the Congress party, which has never trusted the capability of the countrymen. It considered itself rulers and the public as lesser and inferior,” PM Modi said.

Reading out a statement in Lok Sabha by former Prime Minister Nehru, PM Narendra Modi said, “Nehruji thought that Indians were lazy and less intelligent.”

Also, Prime Minister Modi said that it is the work of the BJP-led Centre in the past 10 years that has made world think that India is ready to take the next big leap.

“There is a powerful launchpad of 10 years which has made the world think that our country is ready to take the next big leap. This happened because a change in the mindset that has happened,” he said. (ANI)

Modi Reviews Progress Of Announcements Made In His Red Fort Speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held an important meeting to review the progress of announcements made by him in his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort.

In his speech, PM Modi had mentioned ensuring affordable credit for poor and middle-class housing. In line with this announcement, the Prime Minister reviewed the preparations to implement this announcement.

Also in his speech, the Prime Minister mentioned ensuring solar power for households and the meeting reviewed preparations to execute the scheme.

The Prime Minister had announced on August 15 that the government is coming up with a new scheme that will benefit families living in rented houses in the cities.

“The weaker sections who live in the cities face a lot of problems. Middle-class families are dreaming of buying their own houses. We are coming up with a new scheme in the coming years that will benefit those families that live in cities but are living in rented houses, or slums, or chawls and unauthorized colonies. If they want to build their own houses, we will assist them with relief in interest rates and loans from banks that will help them save lakhs of rupees,” he said.

“If the income tax bracket for my middle-class families is raised from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, it benefits the salaried class, the middle class the most. Internet data was very expensive before 2014. Now we have the world’s cheapest internet data. Every family’s money is being saved,” he added.

The Prime Minister also spoke of India’s growing capabilities.

“During the coronavirus period, the world has seen our capabilities in the way India has propelled the country forward. When the world’s supply chains were disrupted, when there was pressure on big economies, even at that time, we had said that we have to see the development of the world. It should be human centric and humane; that is when we will be able to find the right solutions to the problems. And Covid has taught us or has forced us to realize that we cannot do the welfare of the world by leaving human sensibilities,” he said.

The Prime Minister had said that India’s prosperity and heritage are turning into opportunities for the world today. .

“Today India is becoming the voice of the Global South. With India’s participation in the global economy and the global supply chain and with the place that India has earned for itself, I can say with full confidence that the current scenario in India today has brought a guarantee of stability in the world. There are no ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’ now in our minds, or in the minds of my 140 crore family members, or in the mind of the world. There is complete trust,” he said. (ANI)

Dress Rehearsals For I-Day Celebrations Underway At Red Fort

With only two days left for Independence Day, preparations for the occasion have been intensified as full dress rehearsals of different armed forces are underway at Red Fort here in the national capital.

India will be celebrating its 77th Independence Day on Tuesday, and the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the nation on the occasion from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, recently announced the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign during his Mann Ki Baat broadcast.

The campaign aims to honour the brave freedom fighters and bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country.

PM Modi had informed, “Under this, many programs will be organized across the country in memory of our immortal martyrs. In memory of these luminaries, special inscriptions will also be installed in lakhs of village panchayats across the country. Under this campaign, the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ will also be organised across the country.”

Moreover, PM Modi on Friday urged the people of India to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement from August 13 to 15 this year.

PM Modi said that the Indian flag symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity and urged the people to upload their photographs with the Tiranga on the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website.

PM Modi tweeted, “The Tiranga symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity. Every Indian has an emotional connect with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress.”

Traffic Normalises Near Red Fort Days After Floods

Vehicular movement on the road near the Red Fort returned to normalcy on Wednesday morning, days after it was halted after severe waterlogging and flood conditions as the Yamuna river continued to be in spate, officials said.

Water reached the Ring Road at the backside of the Red Fort earlier Thursday as the Yamuna River continued to flow above the danger level.
Meanwhile, the water level of the Yamuna River was recorded below the danger level on Wednesday. It was recorded at 205.25 meters at 6 am today against 205.35 meters at 7 pm yesterday. At 3 pm yesterday, it was recorded at 205.26 meters.

A “slight rise” was recorded in the river’s water level on Monday due to rains that lashed some areas of Haryana on Monday.

The danger mark for the river stands at 205.33 meters. The Yamuna River in Delhi crossed the danger mark at 5 pm on July 10.

Meanwhile, as the situation is gradually getting back to track in Delhi, the State Government has lifted the ban on entry of heavy vehicles into the national capital, effective today.

“Considering the improvement of the flood situation and descending water level of Yamuna River, it has been decided by the competent authorities to withdraw all the restrictions imposed as per the orders on July 13th and 17th with effect from July 19th,” read the official statement.

Earlier, in an order issued on July 13, the entry of heavy vehicles into Delhi was restricted from the Singhu border, Badarpur border, Loni border and Chilla border owing to waterlogging. However, heavy vehicles carrying food items and essentials were excluded from it.

However, several areas in the national capital are still grappling with water logging and flood-like situations. Visuals showed the areas near Rajghat reeling under water, earlier today.

Considering the prevailing situation, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 17 teams for rescue work in flood-affected districts in Delhi. 1606 people have been rescued. Moreover, 7241 people and 956 livestock have been evacuated by the NDRF teams. Further, pre-hospital treatment has been given to 908 rescued persons.

Around 26,401 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected low-lying areas of six districts of Delhi, out of which around 21,504 people are staying in 44 camps (including temporary relief camps as well as Pucca Buildings like schools, community centres). The rest of the evacuated people have shifted to the places of their choice like their relatives’ houses or rented accommodations. (ANI)

Water Reaches Red Fort As Yamuna Overflows

Water reached on the Ring Road at the backside of the Red Fort on Thursday as the Yamuna river continued to flow above danger level, and all the shops around Kashmere Gate here will remain closed until Sunday due to the flood situation.

Due to the rise in the water level of Yamuna and resultant inundation of low-lying areas, traffic movement has been impaired on Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Ring Road) between IP Flyover and Chandgi Ram Akhara, Mahatma Gandhi Marg between Kalighat Mandir and Delhi Secretariat and Outer Ring Road between Wazirabad Bridge and Chandgi Ram Akhara, while the area near Nigam Bodh Ghat was also flooded.
Traffic on the GT Karnal Road in the national capital was also thrown out of gear as the Yamuna waters breached the warning mark.

Meanwhile, a police van was seen stuck in flood water near Delhi’s Kashmere Gate on Thursday as the Yamuna River overflowed and Chandgi Ram Akhada Chowk area of Delhi witnessed severe flooding.

Several areas of the city are reeling under flood or flood-like situations due to the rise in the water level of River Yamuna.

The water level at 1 pm was recorded as 208.62 metres, it was found to be the same even at 2 pm.

In a tweet, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that trains are passing through all four Metro bridges on the river (Yamuna) with a restricted speed as a precautionary measure.

“Due to rising water levels of the Yamuna, trains are passing through all four Metro bridges on the river with a restricted speed of 30 kmph as a precautionary measure. Normal services on all corridors”, DMRC said in a tweet.

MD of Sushruta Trauma Centre, Government of Delhi at Metcalf Road, Dr Suresh Kumar told ANI that 40 patients were shifted to LNJP hospital as flood water entered the trauma centre.

“Flood water enters Sushruta Trauma Centre at Metcalf Road in Delhi. 40 patients admitted here, including three on ventilators, are being shifted to LNJP hospital”, Dr Kumar to ANI.

Requesting Delhiites, residing in flood-affected areas, to not leave their houses if not essential, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the Yamuna River’s water level will reach its peak by 3-4 pm Thursday and then it will start receding.

“I would like to request people to not step out if it is not essential and resort to Working from Home. We have closed the schools in affected areas. We are also trying to provide all facilities at the relief camps…As per the CWC (Central Water Commission) prediction, the peak (of river Yamuna’s water level) will reach by 3-4 pm today and it will then start going down,” Kejriwal told ANI.

Amid the rising water level of River Yamuna, the Delhi government banned entry of heavy goods vehicles from the Singhu Border, Badarpur Border, Loni Border and Chilla Border. Interstate buses from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, J&K, and Uttarakhand terminating at ISBT Kashmere Gate will terminate at the Singhu border.

However, all Delhi schools and colleges will remain closed till Sunday and government offices, except those providing essential services, will resort to working from home, Kejriwal said.

Talking to ANI after the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on the unprecedented flood situation in the national capital, Kejriwal said, “We had a DDMA meeting. Several important decisions were taken. Schools, colleges & universities will remain closed till Sunday. All government offices, except those providing essential services, will have Work from Home till Sunday. Advisory is being issued for private offices to do the same.”

Pictures and videos of commuters wading through knee-deep water flooded social media platforms, raising concerns about the efficiency of the city’s drainage infrastructure.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir took a dig at the administration over the flood situation in the capital and said, “Wake up Delhiites. Delhi has become a gutter. Nothing is for free, this is the PRICE!!”

Considering the situation, Delhi Traffic Police kept updating Delhiites about traffic affected parts of the city through its Twitter account by uploading pictures of the waterlogged areas.

In a recent alert through one such tweet, the Delhi Traffic Police mentioned, “Traffic is affected in the carriageway from Kalindi Kunj towards Okhla and vice-versa due to waterlogging and breakdown of vehicles at Okhla underpass. Commuters are advised to avoid these stretches”. (ANI)

Hindu-Muslim Done To Divert Attention: Rahul From Red Fort

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centre, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said Hindu-Muslim is being done to divert attention from the real issues.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s mass contacting campaign, Bharat Jodo Yatra, entered the national capital on Saturday. The party held a mega public rally in front of Red Fort.
Speaking from Red Fort, Rahul Gandhi said, “It is not Narendra Modi’s government. It is Ambani and Adani government. Hindu-Muslim is being done to divert attention from the real issues. Today degree holder youths are selling ‘pakoras’.”

Referring to Bhagwad Gita and Upanishads, he said nowhere in the Hindu texts it is written to oppress the poor.

“In Bharat Jodo Yatra, dogs also came but no one harmed them. Cow, buffaloes, pigs, all animals came. This Yatra is like our India, I have not seen any hatred or violence among people while walking 2,800 km, and I have not seen violence or hatred anywhere in the country. But when I turn on the TV, there is hatred all the time,” said the Wayanad MP.

Speaking from Red Fort, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said BJP feared the Bharat Jodo Yatra and wanted to stop the march giving the excuse of COVID.

“BJP is in fear due to Bharat Jodo Yatra and is taking the excuse of COVID. There is no COVID anywhere. Nothing happened to anyone. PM Modi himself does not wear a mask. All this is being done to create fear and break this Yatra,” Kharge said.

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan also joined Bharat Jodo Yatra on Saturday.

Speaking from the Red Fort, Kamal Haasan said, “Many people ask me why I am here. I am here as an Indian. My father was a Congressman. I had various ideologies and started my own political party. But when it comes to the country, all political party lines have to blur. I blurred that line and came here. I stood in front of the mirror and said to myself – this is the time when the country needs me the most. Then a voice came from inside me – ‘Kamal… do not help break India, help unite.”

Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the national capital on Saturday morning. Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi joined the yatra for the first time since it started on September 7. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra also joined. This will be the last day of the yatra in this phase as it goes a nine-day break till next year.

The foot march entered Delhi from Haryana after starting from NHPC metro station, Faridabad around 6 am.

The Yatra also visited Rajghat and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Several MPs of different parties accompanied Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra today.

Asked about the MPs joining Bharat Jodo, Jairam Ramesh told ANI that all the party leaders were invited to join the Yatra.

“We have invited all the party leaders to join Bharat Jodo. Whoever wants to come, Nitin Gadkari wants to come, he is also welcome, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also wants to come, and he is also welcome. (Former Vice) President Venkaiah Naidu and (former President) Ram Nath Kovind are also welcome,” he said.

Jairam Ramesh also divulged that the party is mulling starting another mass contacting campaign, ‘Haath se Haath Jodo’ from January 26.

“After this, the party will start a ‘Haath se Haath Jodo’ campaign from January 26 to March 26, which will convey the message of the Bharat Jodo Yatra to every booth and every block and the success the yatra earned in the 108 days will also be spread to every booth and block during it,” Congress leader told ANI.

The Centre has issued cautionary notes to Bharat Jodo Yatra amid the growing concerns over rising COVID cases in several countries including neighbouring China.

Earlier on Friday, Delhi Police issued a travel advisory, informing residents about route changes and traffic diversions to cater to Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Delhi leg.

“In view of the Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Indian National Congress in Delhi on December 24, 2022, traffic has been changed on various routes. Citizens are requested to avoid the affected roads and make maximum use of public transport,” the Delhi Traffic Police said.

So far, the yatra, which started from Kanyakumari on September 7, has covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra and Haryana.

It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress has claimed.

With this yatra, Rahul Gandhi aims to mobilise the party cadre and unite the general public against the BJP’s “divisive politics in the country”. (ANI)
