Ayodhya on Diwali

Ayodhya Gears Up For Grand ‘Deepotsav’ On Diwali

The ‘Janam Bhoomi’ of Lord Rama is all set to witness the grand ‘Deepotsav’ celebrations in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of Deepawali.

The Deepotsav, which is setting a new benchmark of records, will see Ayodhya adorned with countless indigenous and exotic flowers.

Every intersection of Ayodhya is embellished with rangolis made of flowers to make the Deepotsav 2022 more magnificent.

The bank of river Yamuna has been beautifully decorated with earthen lamps set in a pattern that awaits their lighting as soon as the Sunsets.

Here, PM Modi will offer prayers to Lord Ramlala Virajman, followed by an inspection of the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra site.

The security in Ayodhya has beefed up ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya.

The Yogi Adityanath government through the organization of ‘Deepotsava’ will promote not only the state’s spiritual and religious significance but also the ‘Dhobia’, and ‘Faruwahi’ dance artists.

“The artistes of ‘Braj’ in Awadh will mesmerize the audience with the culture, language, and unique characteristics of the land of Rama-Krishna,” an official statement read.

The banks of river Sarayu await to be lit up with lakhs of earthen lamps on the occasion of ‘Deepotsav’.

This year, out of 16 chariots 11 chariots are being prepared by the Information Department and 5 will be digital, which will be taken out on open trucks by the Department of Tourism. It will be based on scenes from the Ramayana era, in which the model of the Ram temple and the model of development of the 2047 Ayodhya will be presented.

To depict the Ram Janmabhoomi Model, Kashi Corridor, Vision 2047, 1090, and the journey from the birth of Lord Rama to the coronation, as many as 16 tableaux are scheduled to be taken out this year.

The center of attraction in the Deepotsav will be a tableau giving social messages based on Ramayana-era education. Artists will ride on 16 chariots bringing alive the scenes of the Ramayana era through their art. Apart from this, various dancers from all over the country will perform and dance around the chariots.

Ahead of the festival celebrations’ commencement, various artists were seen arriving here as a part of the planned Tableau.

Artists were accentuated in their complete attire and make-up that gave them a more real-like appearance.

The tableau procession will start from Saket Mahavidyalay today and reach the Naya Ghat intersection while traveling to the city.

The festival has raised expectations with real-looking experiences that will be embraced with the presence of the Prime Minister.

Satendra Das, Chief Priest of Ramlala said that a spectral puja will be performed at Ramlila on the arrival of PM Modi.

“The Prime Minister will perform darshan and prayers of Ramlila today. He will also light the Diya and will perform the aarti after that. He will also do the ‘parikrama’ of the temple,” said Chief Priest Satendra Das. (ANI)

Cow Vaccination Reaches UP

Cow Vaccination Reaches 100% In Seven Districts, 80% In Twenty-Two Districts: UP

Intensifying its efforts to curb the spread of the lumpy virus among animals across the state, the Yogi Adityanth-led government in Uttar Pradesh has completed the vaccination of almost 100 percent of cows in seven districts and more than 80 percent in 22 districts of the state.

As per official reports of the UP government, at 97 percent, the lumpy vaccination rate is the highest in Bareilly. It is important to note that Uttar Pradesh reached the milestone of administering 1 crore vaccine doses to prevent lumpy skin disease in just 40 days. Gujarat, which has administered about 63 lakh vaccines in the previous three months, is ranked second. Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to administer lumpy vax to 1 crore cows so far.
The state government has taken several steps to stop the transmission of the lumpy virus, including among others issuing necessary instructions to all the districts in this regard. The Panchayati Raj and Urban Development Department have been directed to coordinate in spraying anti-larval medicine in all villages to stop the spread of the lumpy virus amid the recent heavy rains.

Directions have also been issued that Agra, Meerut, Bareilly, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Jhansi districts must distribute Ivermectin Bolus and Iodine Ointment.

Moreover, given excessive rains and possible floods, officials have been asked to provide information about the cows affected and dead because of the lumpy virus to headquarters immediately. Each district has been given a deadline of October 31 to complete the required vaccinations.

Additional Chief Secretary, Livestock, Dr. Rajneesh Dubey informed that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 2000 teams were formed in the state to carry out vaccinations and extensive ‘ring’ and ‘belt’ vaccinations were done.

“Cows with lumpy skin disease signs were discovered for the first time in the state during the second week of August. The Animal Husbandry Department immediately stepped up its attention and began extensive monitoring. The government formed Team-9,” he added.

Seven senior nodal officers from Team-9 extensively monitored Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, Agra, and Aligarh divisions. In the state, 1.32 crore doses of the Goat Pox vaccination have been ordered so far.

The vaccination campaign started in western UP, a ring vaccination was launched in the 25 lumpy virus-affected districts of Western Uttar Pradesh.

Later, to contain the spread of disease from Western UP to the central and eastern regions of the state, a 10 km wide and 320 km long belt from Pilibhit to Etawah district was created. Under the area of the belt, 100% vaccination of all the cattle was done.

The second belt was created from district Etawah to Auraiya which was about 155 km long. 100% vaccination of all the cattle was ensured in this area. In addition, the Goat Pox vaccination of cows is being done at a fast pace in the entire state by conducting ring vaccination within a radius of 10 km around all the municipalities and municipal corporations.

The Government ensured that all the cows in shelters and ‘gaushalas’ across the state were vaccinated against the virus. Priority was also given to the vaccination of all the cattle at the inter-state and intra-state borders.

In 31 districts of Western UP, 98 dedicated cow shelter sites were opened in which infected cows were protected separately. The lumpy virus has so far infected 76713 cows in the state, of which 56054 (73%) have recovered while the rest are undergoing treatment and their health is showing steady improvement. (ANI)

The Jhoolewala At Ram Mandir

Aslam, The Jhoolewala At Ram Mandir-Themed Ramlila, Spreads Joys

Bustling noises of cheers and laughter echo on the grounds of Lav Kush Ramlila as the annual festivities of Dussehra make their way to people’s calendars every year.
Today is Vijayadashami. It is that time of year when Ramlilas, the theatrical enactments of Lord Rama’s life, are performed in various corners of the country, fun fairs are held, crowds swarm to see Ravan effigies burst into flames, and the aroma of traditional sweets fills the air.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the past two years were a blow to small-scale businesses and vendors. But this year’s Navaratri, the nine auspicious nights preceding the Dussehra festival, has returned to the good old charm of festive love and celebrations.

Among many who spread joy is a man who brings smiles to people’s faces with the merry-go-round and giant Ferris Wheels!

Known to have been one of the best in business for four decades, Mohammed Aslam gives the magical touch to Lav Kush Ramlila every year with fun amusement rides.

“I have worked with Luv Kush Ramlila committee since 1992 and plan to keep working with them because I get a lot of respect here,” said Mohammed Aslam as he expressed his gratitude.

Like many business establishments that suffered at the hands of COVID-19, he emphasized how the pandemic played a spoilsport for his business in the past two years as well- “past two years, in fact, were quite stressful in terms of business.” Not just me, my staffers were also distressed due to the lockdown.”

However, a few minutes later, he exuberantly expressed how well the business is picking up and that he is extremely happy to see Ramlila making a comeback this year!

Mohammed Aslam, a resident of the walled city, conducts many fairs across the Hindi heartland but says he is happiest during Ramlila because of the joy and brotherhood the festival binds people with.

Luv Kush Ramlila is held at the iconic Lal Qila (Red Fort) every year and thousands of people gather at the Mughal-era fort to eagerly watch the pages of Ramayana come to life.

Not just that, gorging on fantastic street food delicacies, taking an adrenaline-pumping fun ride, and just soaking in the festive mood with loved ones, make it an exciting place for people from all walks of life—age, gender, and religion no bar. This year’s specialty, however, lies in the beauty of the backdrop of the Ram Lila—a replica of the famous Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Talking about the schedule this year, Ramlila began on September 26 and will culminate with a special appearance of ‘Baahubali’ superstar Prabhas on Wednesday. (ANI)

Rural Tourism

UP Govt Launches Drive To Boost Rural Tourism In 18 Districts

In a bid to familiarise the nation’s youth with the village culture, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath has launched a phase-wise campaign to boost rural tourism on September 17.

In the first phase of the campaign 18 districts have been selected where rural tourism will be promoted. From each of these districts, the government will pick two villages to boost tourism.

“Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of villages in the country and has enormous potential in the agricultural tourism sector”, said Mukesh Meshram, the principal secretary of the Department of Tourism.

The campaign will be the start of a process of promoting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the villages in the state.

“In addition to encouraging better agricultural practices, cow husbandry, craftsmanship, handloom, handicrafts, unique pure foods, biological and agricultural diversity, etc., we are beginning the process of promoting our rich historical, religious, and cultural heritage in the villages”, Meshram remarked.

The advisory organisations for 18 districts across the state have already been selected in the first phase, according to the principal secretary.

“On behalf of these institutions, a survey will be conducted to identify two villages in each district where tourism will be promoted. A plan will also be chalked out to educate the younger generation about villages and their unique specialties in order to promote rural tourism,” he said.

The representatives of the chosen institutions will contact the district magistrates of the selected districts and also speak with other stakeholders involved in tourism-related activities about issues pertaining to rural tourism.

“After the discussion, an action plan will be prepared on behalf of the chosen institutions by conducting a survey based on the primary issues. The Tourism department will continue to work to give agriculture tourism a fresh focus in the coming years”, the official said.

Earlier in the day, praising the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi said that for eight years the PM has spent working to advance Uttar Pradesh’s development have been quite motivating, the CM remarked, “When we look at India’s current development trajectory, we can see how ‘Avinashi Kashi’ (Kashi-The eternal city) marked the beginning of this trajectory”.

The CM went on to say, “Under the supervision of the PM for the past eight years, the dream of great men about the sort of India they envisaged at the time of Independence, is being realised,” noting that the Prime Minister represents UP in the parliament as a well-liked MP of Kashi. (ANI)

‘Lulu Namaaz Row Shows Lucknow’s Fall To Hardliners’

Sharat Pradhan, a Lucknow citizen and eminent journalist, says it is sad that Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb has given way to Namaaz-Sundar Kand conflict

Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, once known for its adab, tehzeeb, and communal harmony is gradually losing it all to hardliners. One glaring example is the recent Lulu Mall namaaz controversy, which I found laughable to say the least.

Let us recall what happened: A few people were seen offering namaaz in the newly-opened shopping mall. A video of the incident was widely shared on social media. This enraged some Hindu right-wing activists so much that they tried to recite Hanuman Chalisa and Sundar Kand (a chapter from the Ramayana) on the same premises in reprisal. The media played it up to the gallery and it captured headlines for weeks. This is plain absurd? And all of this happening in Lucknow makes it even more reprehensible.

According to one view, the namaaz offered in the mall was a violation of the ban on religious activities in public places. However, the mall is a private property and in this case, the police can’t take any action unless a complaint is filed by the owner of the property. So, the UP Police made the mall administration file a complaint in order to take action against those who offered namaaz in the mall.

In this whole controversy, the role of police administration is intriguing. Since the mall was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself in the presence of its owner Yusuf Ali, the UP Police couldn’t take their usual course of action – bashing Muslims. They tried to monkey-balance it by acting against the people from both Hindu and Muslim communities.

ALSO READ: ‘Those Pitting Hanuman Chalisa Against Azan Aren’t Pious People’

This controversy is also the result of an entire build-up which was created much before the mall was inaugurated. Fake messages were circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups that the mall will employ only Muslim boys and Hindu girls, an attempt to fan the Love-jihad anxieties.

The entire episode seems to be politically motivated. Earlier, we saw protests from offline retailers against e-commerce companies. Now, small businesses are enraged with the launch of this huge mall in Lucknow. They see sprawling shopping centres as a threat to their small stores.

One more thing which puzzled many was the inauguration ceremony. The chief minister himself was present. Many Hindu hardliners were unhappy with this. They couldn’t digest the fact that their ‘strong’ leader is seen befriending a Muslim.

But behind Yogi’s appearance, there was a compulsion. First, it was a huge business investment in the capital of the state, around ₹2500 crore by some estimates. Second, the owner Yusuf Ali has a very amenable relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Thus, Yogi couldn’t have missed the attendance.

Meanwhile, the recent controversy also sheds light on the present situation in the country and, especially, in Uttar Pradesh. Everything has now been given a communal colour. The saddest part is the city of Lucknow which was known for its Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb is in the news for namaaz-sundar kand dispute.

‘Rampur, Azamgarh By-polls Prove Voter’s Trust In CM Yogi’

Ashok Vishnoi, BJP’s district general secretary of Rampur, UP, says days of dynastic politics in Uttar Pradesh are over. Here, in his own words:

The BJP is overwhelmed with the results of recent by-polls in Uttar Pradesh. We have wrested the two Lok Sabha seats of Rampur and Azamgarh which were once considered the pocket borough of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.

The victory has sent a message – by and large – that nothing is permanent in politics. And any political change can only be brought by tireless working for janata, the people, the electorate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave us a mantra: Thakna nahi hai, rukna nahi hai (Forget the fatigue, work without a break). And following his advice, the BJP cadre in Rampur has rolled the dice in our favour.

While Azam Khan was not at his venomous best, having drawn lessons from Election Commission action earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh thought it would be a cakewalk. Little did they realise that things have changed under Yogi Adityanath’s rule. The BJP has given them a rude shock for their complacency and laidback attitude.

Chief Minister Adityanathji, along with a team of 16 ministers, made it a point to reach out to every nook and corner of the constituency, and made the electorate aware about his work and future plans, coupled with the near absence of the so-called ‘entitled rulers’ of Rampur, turned the tide in BJP favour.

ALSO READ: ‘Yogi Didn’t Change Policemen, He Changed Policing’

The by-poll results have once again proved that the people have faith in Yogi Adityanathji and Narendra Modiji. It is not only the victory of our candidates but the victory of BJP’s ethics and work culture.

Another thing which the results have thrown up is that caste politics and appeasement policies are fading away. The voter has woken up. The victory (both in Rampur and Azamgarh) has sent a message loud and clear: blocks of Muslim-Yadav, Pandits, OBCs, SCs, and STs are a passé. If you want to win, you need to first win their hearts and address to their concerns. It was not a fight of Lodhis, Jatavs, Yadavs, Muslims and others this time. It was about the people and their basic needs.

The voter knew who would come to respond to their concerns. They would not vote for the dynasts and their representative who have done little to address their issues for years. The results are all about ridding the constituency of one-family business. After all, if their elected ‘leader’ is a serial offender and a frequent visitor to jail, who will stand by them in the times of a crisis?

At the same time, it has brought a huge responsibility on our shoulders. If the BJP leaders fail to deliver on their promises, or do not live up to the expectations of the voter, we too shall lose the plot sooner than later. We must not be complacent; we have to sustain the voters’ trust in us and that is our challenge

‘Yogi Will Be Remembered As The Monk Who Transformed UP’

Malaya Mishra, 52, a Chartered Accountant from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, says Yogi has shown good intent and brought sweeping changes in state administration

You may hate him, or you may love him but you just cannot ignore Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh who is now serving his second consecutive term in office. Allow me to explain why.

Uttar Pradesh is a large state, with population equal to the three largest European countries combined. Clearly, with such a large polity to cater, one cannot satisfy each and every one. Yet, Yogi has shown good intent.

It was heartening to see that one of the first things Yogi did after moving into CM’s office was to ban chewing gutkha and pan masala in government offices across the state. This used to be an ugly but ever-present characteristic of sarkari babus. He also implemented measures to ensure that government employees were both well-disciplined and punctual at work. He brought transparency in governance, in the way jobs are given and the way state is run. This is what the common masses in the state had been missing for decades.

His role as chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has been nothing short of historical. Particularly in the way he tackled the menace of organised crime through effective policing and law-making. He has changed ‘UP Wala Bhaiya’ abuse to a badge of honour. Despite high inflation, unemployment, ravages of COVID-19, farmers’ agitation, GST and demonetization, people by and large are not unhappy with his government, and this was clear from the clear electoral mandate. Frankly, Yogi’s re-election as the chief minister was not at all a surprise to many of us; we were never in two minds that he will return to office.

ALSO READ: ‘Yogi Wants To Divide And Rule’

Critics have heaped several disparaging titles on CM Yogi. Here are some examples: ‘India’s most divisive and abusive politician who often uses his election rallies to whip up anti-Muslim hysteria’; ‘A monk who believes in encounters’; ‘Bulldozer Baba’ and; ‘a firebrand cult leader in saffron robes’ besides many others. But there is no stopping this mass leader.

Mishra (left) says Yogi will keep his promises made before elections

From Sanyasi to CM, Yogi in my opinion will be remembered in future as ‘The Monk Who Transformed Uttar Pradesh’. He is the first Chief Minister of the state to return after completing five years. Yogi is going hammer and tongs against the mismanagement and malpractices in health sector and is working overtime to fight goondaism and lawlessness. So, I would like to believe that the Yogi government 2.0 will surely pave the path for further development of its citizens and state.

The Yogi government 2.0 has made it clear that in this term the focus will be on youth, education, health, women, employment generation and infrastructural development. He has raised the bar of expectations really high and in his second innings we expect him to make the state more secure, particularly for women, provide better primary education, ensure communal harmony, remove corruption, create jobs and improve the air quality of the state. I strongly believe that he is a man of his words and he will do everything to keep his promises.
