New Vande Bharat Express Will Be Saffron: Vaishnaw

The 28th rake of Indian-built semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express will be ‘saffron’ in colour, railway officials said on Saturday.

The new saffron Vande Bharat Express is however not yet operational and is currently stationed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, where Vande Bharat trains are manufactured.

Railways officials told ANI that a total of 25 rakes of Vande Bharat Express are operational on their designated routes and two rakes are reserved. “While the colour of this 28th rake is being changed on a trial basis,” they said.

Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inspected the Integral Coach Factory here, reviewed safety measures in Southern Railways, and also reviewed improvements in the Vande Bharat Express.

After conducting an inspection, the Union minister said that the new colour of the 28th rake of the indigenous train is “inspired by Indian Tricolour”.

He said that 25 improvements have done in the Vande Bharat trains.

“This is a concept of Make In India, (which means) designed in India, by our own engineers, and technicians. So whatever feedback we are receiving from the field units, regarding ACs, toilets, etc., during the operation of Vande Bharat, all those improvements are being used for making changes in the design,” Vaishnaw said in a press briefing.

“A new safety feature, ‘anti climbers’, or anti-climbing devices, on which we are working, were also reviewed today. These will be standard features in all the Vande Bharat and other trains,” he added.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two new and upgraded versions of Vande Bharat Express trains– Gorakhpur-Lucknow and Jodhpur-Sabarmati–at Gorakhpur Station in Uttar Pradesh, taking the total operational service across the country to a significant milestone of 50.

It is pertinent to note that India’s semi-high-speed train set, now offers its services in all rail-electrified states across the country. With 50 operational services, the Vande Bharat Express has revolutionized rail travel, providing state-of-the-art amenities and reducing travel time for passengers.

The first Vande Bharat Express was flagged off on February 15, 2019, by the Prime Minister, running between New Delhi and Varanasi. Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the train set symbolizes the ‘Make-In-India’ initiative and showcases India’s engineering prowess.

The project to manufacture indigenous semi-high-speed train sets began in mid-2017, and within 18 months, the ICF Chennai completed Train-18. India’s first semi-high-speed train was renamed Vande Bharat Express in January 2019 to emphasize its made-in-India status. The train achieved a maximum speed of 180 kmph on the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section. (ANI)

UP Committed To Providing Jobs To Young Players: Yogi

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new healthy competition has begun across the country which has instilled a new enthusiasm among the youth for sports and athletics, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday.

During a program held to distribute appointment letters to 227 constables selected by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board under the skilled player quota, the Chief Minister described the Khelo India and Fit India movements as “a new revolution in the country”, saying that these have provided a new platform for every young and talented player in the past two years.
Yogi added that the process of preparing sports grounds in every village panchayat is underway at a war footing to encourage young athletes. He mentioned that the Revenue Department is also conducting land exchanges for this purpose and sports grounds are being established near every school to ensure that children in villages do not have to run and play on the streets.

“The construction of mini stadiums at the developmental block level is currently underway in the first phase. Furthermore, a stadium is being constructed in each district”, he said.

Chief Minister Yogi stated that various programs are being conducted to generate curiosity for sports among the youth of the state. He said that Youth Welfare Committees and Women Welfare Committees are being formed in every village panchayat.

He further asserted, “So far, sports kits have been provided to 65,000 youth and women welfare committees across the entire state and various efforts are being made to enhance the facilities for athletes and encourage them at every level.”

He mentioned that Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to honour Tokyo and Paralympic athletes with cash rewards. He said that with the aim of facilitating the recruitment process and considering the passion of young athletes, the mandate of the Personnel Department has been amended and as a result, the Uttar Pradesh Police have selected the highest number of 579 players to date, which is the largest number of players ever to be included in the police force.

The Chief Minister added that Lalit Upadhyay was given the appointment letter as Deputy Superintendent of Police and Vijay Yadav as Deputy Tehsildar recently.

Divya Kakran was also presented with an appointment letter as Deputy Tehsildar during the ceremony.

CM Yogi mentioned that out of the 489 candidates, there are 304 males and 185 females. He added that among the participants at the national level, 51 have won gold medals, 41 have won silver and 61 have won bronze medals. The international participants include one gold medalist, three silver medalists, and seven bronze medalists.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that out of the selected candidates, 371 athletes from Uttar Pradesh hold the highest number of positions. Additionally, there are 39 athletes from Haryana, 13 each from Uttarakhand and Delhi, 12 from Madhya Pradesh, 11 from Punjab, 7 from Rajasthan, and 2 each from Gujarat, Odisha, Delhi, Bihar, and Karnataka. One athlete each from Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh have also secured their place.

He mentioned that under the schemes to encourage sports in the state, Olympic medalists are being awarded a cash prize of Rs 6 crore for gold, Rs 4 crore for silver, and Rs 2 crore for bronze. The team event winners in the Olympic Games will receive Rs 3 crore for gold, Rs 2 crore for silver, and Rs 1 crore for bronze. In the Asian Games, gold medalists will be awarded Rs three crore, silver medalists will receive Rs 1.5 crore, and bronze medalists will get Rs 75 lakh.

Furthermore, in Commonwealth Games and World Cup competitions, gold medalists will be given Rs 1.5 crore whereas silver and bronze medallists will receive Rs 75 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively. Moreover, athletes participating in the Olympic Games will receive Rs 10 lakh, and those participating in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games will get Rs 5 lakh.

Not As Easy As Abrogation Of Article 370: Ghulam Nabi Azad On UCC

Democratic Progressive Azad Party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Friday that bringing about Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will not be as easy for the central government as abrogation of Article 370.

“This is not as easy as abrogation of Article 370. It has all religions, not only Muslims, but it has Sikhs, Christians, tribals, Jains, and Parsis. Angering so many religions at the same time will not be good for any government and my advice to this government is that they should never think of taking such a step,” he said.
Speaking on elections in the state, Azad said, “When the Assembly was dissolved in 2018 since then we are waiting that when the elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir. We are waiting for six years.”

Ghulam Nabi Azad said that people in Jammu and Kashmir are waiting eagerly for elections in the union territory.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir are waiting for the democratic set-up to be restored in the state…meaning that the elected representatives become MLAs and they run the government. Because only elected representatives can do this work in a democracy,” the veteran politician said.

The Centre abrogated Article 370 and 35(A) from the erstwhile state on August 5, 2019. Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on the same day.

“Across the world or in any part of India the ‘officer sarkar’ can’t run for more than six months. It is essential that elected representatives are brought back to power,” Ghulam Nabi Azad reasoned, backing for elections in the Union Territory.

“We have been demanding from the last six years, five years and even three years and even now that elections are held as soon as possible,” he said pleading for elections. (ANI)

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said that more than 12 people have lost their lives so far in the violence that broke out in several areas in West Bengal on panchayat poll day.

“Violence has broken out in full swing in the Bengal gram panchayat elections being held today. More than 12 people have died so far and a large number of them have been injured,” BJP MP Prasad said.
Targeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the BJP MP asked, “Where have you taken Bengal today?” Ravi Shankar Prasad harked back to history to compare the state of Bengal during the nationalist movement with that of the present situation.

“Once Bengal was the mother of democracy, the center of nationalist aspirations. It was the Bengal of Subhash Chandra Bose, it was the Bengal of Rabindranath Tagore, it was the Bengal of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar. Is it essential that someone needs to die if an election is held?” he asked.

Posing another question to Mamata Banerjee, the BJP MP asked why the proportion of violence is so much when the state conducts local body polls.

“I have a question for you Mamataji. Earlier in Bihar and many other states many people used to die during poll. Now due to the increase in strength of the Election Commission violence has come down. During Lok Sabha elections in Bengal owing to the strength of the Election Commission, violence is less. But what is happening when your state government is conducting the gram panchayat elections?” he asked.

The senior BJP MP alleged that the Central forces are not being allowed to work properly as they are not getting support on the ground. “The central forces are not being allowed to function. They are not getting support on the ground,” he claimed.

Ravi Shankar Prasad also alleged that the West Bengal police works like a political outfit. “Mamata’s police works in the fashion of a political outfit. I don’t know if some responsible policemen are not rewarded enough or not allowed to work,” he said.

The senior BJP MP also questioned the West Bengal Chief Minister whether there is conflict in her party at the booth level.

“Your own party workers are dying. So is there conflict in your party at the booth level? I have heard this,” he said.

There is fierce tussle for control of local administrations between the ruling TMC and the BJP which will be a litmus test for both parties ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections.

West Bengal has 3,341 gram panchayats and the number of village panchayat election centres is 58,594. There are 63,239 seats at the Gram Panchayat level, 9730 at Panchayat Samiti and 928 at the Zila Parishad level. The counting of votes will be held on July 11. (ANI)

Modi Holds Road Show Accompanied By Cyclists In Bikaner

After launching development projects worth Rs 24,000 crore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a road show accompanied by cyclists in Rajasthan’s Bikaner on Saturday.

After he launched various development projects including the 500 km section of Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, PM Modi held a road show while on his way to address a public rally.
During the roadshow, the Prime Minister’s convoy was accompanied by a large number of cyclists.

Before beginning the roadshow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several development projects worth Rs 24,000 crores in Rajasthan including the newly developed 500 kilometre section of Amritsar-Jamnagar expressway.

“This corridor will connect Rajasthan with Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat and Jammu-Kashmir,” PM mentioned.

Commercial sea ports like Jamnagar and Kandla will also connect to Rajasthan and Bikaner with the help of this corridor. The distance between Amritsar to Jodhpur and Bikaner will also decrease. Distance between Jodhpur to Jalore and Gujarat will also decrease,” the PM said.

PM Modi further mentioned the benefits of the corridor and said, “The farmers and traders of the region would be benefited. This expressway will provide new power to West India and its industrial activities. Supply chains would get smoother and the nation would get a new speed of financial development.

“Prime Minister also said that the Employee’s State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital has also been completed in Bikaner. PM Modi congratulated the people of Rajasthan for all these development projects.

The PM also emphasised that any state develops only when its possibilities and capabilities are recognised distinctly. The PM also mentioned that Rajasthan has been a centre of infinite possibilities and capabilities.

Today, the work of doubling of Bikaner-Ratangarh rail line has also started.

PM Modi said that railway development in Rajasthan is one of the priorities of the government.

“Today new rail lines are being spread at high speed. Railway tracks are being automated. Small entrepreneurs would gain maximum benefit of the infrastructure development,” PM Modi said.

Mentioning the Bikaner famous pickle and snacks, PM said, “If the connectivity would be better, then the small industries here would be able to export their products to all corners of India”.

PM said, “Karni Mata and Salasar Balaji have given a lot to Rajasthan, hence it should be ahead of all in terms of development. Today, the Indian government is strengthening development projects constantly.”

Dhoni’s strongest format was the ODIs. In 350 ODIs, he scored 10,773 runs at an average of 50.57. He scored 10 centuries and 73 fifties for India, with the best score of 183*. He is India’s fifth-highest scorer in ODIs (with Sachin Tendulkar at the top with 18,426 runs). He is also the 11th most successful ODI batter of all time. The fact that he managed to score 10,000-plus runs at an average of over 50 while coming down the order makes his statistics even more astonishing.

Dalai Lama Says Open To Talks With China Over Tibetan Problems

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said that he is open for talks with China over the problems of Tibetans and the Chinese, “officially or unofficially” wanted to contact him.

“I am always open to talk. Now China also realises that the spirit of Tibetan people is very strong. So, in order to deal with Tibetan problems they want to contact me. I am also ready”, he said.
The Dalai Lama made the remarks while to speaking to reporters in Dharamshala before embarking on a visit to Delhi and Ladakh.

Responding to a question on whether he wishes to resume talks with China, he said, “We are not seeking independence, we have decided since many years that we remain the part of People’s Republic of China…Now China is changing. The Chinese, officially or unofficially want to contact me”.

On July 6, Dalai Lama celebrated his 88th birthday and visited the Main Tibetan Temple courtyard in Dharamshala, adjacent to his residence. While addressing the gathering during the celebrations the Dalai Lama said that he has not been angry with anyone, not even those Chinese leaders who have adopted a harsh attitude towards Tibet, according to the official statement released on Dalai Lama’s website.

“I was born in Tibet and I bear this name Dalai Lama, but in addition to working for the cause of Tibet, I’ve been working for the welfare of all sentient beings. I’ve done whatever I could without losing hope or allowing my determination to flag,” the Tibetan spiritual leader said.

“I’m angry with no one, not even those Chinese leaders who have adopted a harsh attitude towards Tibet. Indeed, China has historically been a Buddhist country as witnessed by the many temples and monasteries I saw when I visited that land,” he added.

In his remarks, Dalai Lama said knowledge of Tibetan culture and religion can benefit the world at large. He said, “I believe there is knowledge within Tibetan culture and religion that can benefit the world at large. However, I also respect all other religious traditions because they encourage their followers to cultivate love and compassion.”

He further said, “According to indications in my own dreams and other predictions, I expect to live to be more than 100 years old. I’ve served others until now and I’m determined to continue to do so. Please pray for my long life on that basis.”

Earlier in April, Dalai Lama called for a focus on wisdom and compassion as he highlighted the situation in Tibet by giving his own example and stressed upon looking at the current situation from a broader perspective.

Addressing the gathering on the second day at the Global Buddhist Summit 2023 in New Delhi, the Dalai Lama had said, “I can also share with you that by engaging in this kind of inner development and particularly focusing on Wisdom and compassion. It really can help increase our courage as well. For example: in the case of my dealing with the current struggle and situation of Tibet, if you think just only about it from a narrow-angle, you can lose your hope.”

“But if you look at this crisis and look at this current situation from the broader perspective of the courage that cultivation and compassion give you, then you can have a much more resilient mind. So, even in your daily life, there might be problems which may seem enormous and unbearable. Still, if you have the courage, you will be in a much stronger position to turn adversities into opportunities,” he added.

The Dalai Lama had earlier too said that majority of people in China realise that he is not seeking “independence” within China but meaningful autonomy and preservation of Tibetan Buddhist culture.

Last year he had told reporters in Jammu during a visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh that “Not Chinese people, but some Chinese hardliners consider me a separatist. Now, more and more Chinese are realising that Dalai Lama not seeking independence but within China meaningful autonomy and to preserve Tibetan Buddhist culture.” (ANI)

Wanted Al Qaida Terrorist Ikramul Haque Arrested In B’desh

India’s ‘most wanted’ Al Qaida terrorist, Ikramul Haque alias Abu Talha was arrested in Bangladesh along with his wife in a raid recently, Bangladesh daily Prothomalo reported.

Ikramul Haque was apparently arrested from the Sabuj Bagh area of the capital Dhaka.
He was arrested on May 30, soon after the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) officials of Dhaka came to know that Abu Talha, the top leader of the Dawah wing of the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), got involved in militancy while studying in Deoband, India.

Quoting CTTC as saying, Prothomalo reported that CTTC, the crime unit of Dhaka said Ikramul and his wife Faria Afreen were arrested from the city’s Madartek area on 30 May and are now in jail.

The duo were remanded several times.

The Daily Prothom Alo is a daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka in the Bengali language. It is the largest circulated newspaper in Bangladesh.

According to a Dhaka-based intelligence source, India’s ATS has been seeking Ikramul since last year, Prothomalo reported.

Later, they discovered the individual had escaped to Bangladesh. At the halfway point of this year, information about him was provided to Bangladesh’s intelligence services. One month before obtaining the information, CTTC had detained him, which that intelligence was unaware of at first.

CTTC officials also stated that Ikramul’s wife Faria Afrin is also a member of the women’s wing of the militant group.

Moreover, Abu Talha also fraudulently obtained Indian citizenship in the name of himself and his wife Faria Afrin Anikar. Indian Aadhaar cards and passports were also found in their names.

The Head of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of Dhaka and Additional Commissioner of DMP Asad Uz Zaman told Bangla Tribune, ‘Ikramul Haque alias Abu Talha is the top leader of AQIS. There are at least 10 cases against him in India. He was most wanted by Indian law enforcement agencies. Recently, after some Bangladeshis were arrested as members of AQIS in Gujarat, they also named Abu Talha as a recruiter. Abu Talha along with his wife was arrested in a raid recently.”

According to sources, in October 2022, the Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested 8 AQIS members from Bhopal in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Some of the militants arrested at that time were Bangladeshi nationals. During interrogation, they identified Inamul Haque alias Abu Talha as their top leader to Indian law enforcement agencies. \

On May 24 of this year 2023, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested 4 more AQIS members from Gujarat, India. All four of them were Bangladeshi citizens. During interrogation, they gave information to Indian Law Enforcement Agencies about Ikramul Haque alias Abu Talha as their recruiter, the sources said.

CTTC officials said that they got information about Abu Talha after arresting a militant named Khaled Saifullah from Narayanganj in 2011.

Abu Talha was then known as ‘Maulana Sabet’ in the militant group.

Khaled Saifullah then informed the Counter Terrorism Unit officials that Maulana Sabet was the top leader of AQIS. He regularly trained and recruited members for AQIS in India and Bangladesh by being in India.

According to CTTC sources, first, he went to India on a tourist visa and was admitted to Deoband, but later he collected an Indian Aadhaar card in the name of Noor Hossain.

The crackdown against AQIS started in India with the arrest of a prominent Bangladeshi leader of the terrorist organization by Assam Police in March 2022. According to sources, the arrest was a result of several months of intelligence operations run by Assam Police going back to at least September 2021. Subsequently, there have been more than 50 arrests all across the country. The latest of these was by Gujarat ATS last month where 5 AQIS operatives from Bangladesh were arrested.

Notably, the intelligence agencies of Bangladesh received information on Abu Talha in the middle of this year, Prothomalo reported. CTTC had arrested him one month before receiving the information. (ANI)

Starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles, the film is set to hit the theatres on July 28.

The trailer took us into the lives of Rocky Randhawa and Rani Chatterjee, whose lifestyles are diametrically opposed.
