Will Not Allow Any Division Of Country: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that some people are trying to divide the nation by pursuing the politics of hate and said that she is ready to give her life but “will not allow division of the country”.

Addressing people after Eid UL Fitr namaz at Red Road in Kolkata, she said, “I’m ready to give my life, but will not allow any division of the country. We want peace in Bengal. We don’t want riots. We don’t want divisions in the country.”
Hitting out Bharatiya Janata Party, CM said, “All I would like to tell you is stay peaceful, don’t listen to anyone. A “Gaddar Party” with whom I have to fight and with agencies too. I have the courage to fight with them and I am not ready to move back.”

Accusing the saffron party of trying to change the constitution of the country, CM Banerjee said that if democracy will go, everything will be ruined.

“If democracy will go away, everything will go away. Today Constitution is being changed, history is being changed. They (BJP) brought the National Register of Citizens (NRC). I told them that I will not let them do that,” said WB CM.

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee also attended the event at Red Road.

Earlier, on the occasion of Ram Navami, several vehicles were set on fire after two groups clashed in Howrah. During the procession, the rioters vandalized public and private properties and set vehicles on fire. (ANI)

Ready To Pay Any Price For Speaking Truth: Rahul After Vacating Bungalow

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday vacated his official bungalow and said that he is ready to pay any price for speaking the truth.

The move comes after the disqualification of the former Lok Sabha MP.
Rahul Gandhi said the government bungalow located at Tughlaq Lane was given to him by people of the country and he had stayed there for 19 years.

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and KC Venugopal were present as he handed over the keys to his official bungalow.

“People of Hindustan gave me this house for 19 years, I want to thank them. It’s the price for speaking the truth. I am ready to pay any price for speaking the truth. For some days I will be staying at 10 Janpath,” said Rahul Gandhi after the handover.

“I’ll stay at 10 Janpath for some time, then we’ll figure out something,” he said when asked where he will go now. Sonia Gandhi presently lives at 10 Janpath.

Priyanka Gandhi also echoed Rahul Gandhi’s sentiment when she stated that her brother was suffering as he had spoken the truth.

“Whatever my brother is saying is truth. He spoke truth about the government for which he is suffering. But we are not afraid..,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal said, “They can give this house to anyone now. The way the Modi government and Amit Shah is targeting Rahul Gandhi is completely a political vendetta.”

Earlier in the day, trucks loaded with furniture were spotted departing from the 12 Tughlaq Lane bungalow.

Rahul Gandhi was sent a notice to vacate his bungalow, a day after a Surat Sessions Court on April 20 convicted him in a defamation case.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat on March 27 gave notice to Rahul Gandhi to vacate the government bungalow following his disqualification as MP from Lok Sabha after he was convicted in a 2019 defamation case by the Surat court for a ‘Modi surname’ remark.

Opposition parties had slammed the government over Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha. The Congress leader was elected to the House from Wayanad in the 2019 general elections. (ANI)

Eid-ul-Fitr: Modi Wishes For People’s Health, Well-Being

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for the health and well-being of the people.

In a tweet, PM Modi said, “Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May the spirit of harmony and compassion be furthered in our society. I also pray for everyone’s wonderful health and well-being. Eid Mubarak!”
Meanwhile, the beautiful glimpses of people offering namaz nationwide emit positivity.

Visuals from Delhi were a sight to behold. People hugged each other after offering namaz at Delhi’s Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

Speaking to ANI, a man who came to offer namaz said, “I extend my wishes to the entire country on the occasion of Eid. This is a very important occasion after 30 days of fasting. We are happy right now and special arrangements are made for the morning namaz. Delicious food items will be made in our houses today.”

“Eid-Ul-Fitr sends the message of peace, brotherhood, humanity and love. I wish all evils are removed from the country and happiness spreads everywhere. I wish the nation keeps moving forward and keeps prospering,” he added.

He stressed that the country comes first and that everyone is “Hindustani first (Indian first).

Another man, G R Siddique from Ghaziabad said, “Today is a very happy day. Namaz is being offered everywhere in India with love.”

Sending a message of brotherhood across communities, he said that Hindus and Muslims should spread the message across the globe.

The month of Ramzan was filled with purity and compassion for all and now the festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country.

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival is of great significance due to the moon sighting which has been part of Islamic culture for a long time. It is believed that Prophet Muhammad used to wait for news of sightings of the crescent moon as it narrated the beginning of a new month.

Ending the holy month of Ramzan and starting a new spiritual journey also marks the beginning of a new Islamic year.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the month-long Ramzan fasting and the beginning of Shawwal which is the tenth month per the Islamic calendar. Since the observance of the moon is essential for ending Ramzan month and celebrating Eid, it is celebrated in different parts on different days usually with a one-day difference. (ANI)

Yogi’s Administration Is Battered By Criminals: Akhilesh

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav while attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is busy being a star campaigner and his administration is battered by criminals.

“Criminal activities are happening in broad daylight but it is claimed that law and order are fine in the state. The public has also come to know that BJP has mastered the art of false propaganda,” the Samajwadi Party chief said on Friday.
The government has nothing to show its work, so it is wasting its time by telling the works of the Samajwadi government as its own, he added.

“The situation of Jungle Raj is in Lucknow. Miscreants robbed a woman’s chain at gunpoint in broad daylight in Krishna Nagar. Rs 13 lakh was looted from a businessman in the Kaiserbagh area. A contract worker extorted money from the girl in the name of a job and raped her. The miscreants looted the gold garland of an old man at Buddheshwar temple in Para,” Akhilesh Yadav alleged.

Former UP CM further alleged, “On April 20, 2023, a teenager was raped by showing a pistol in the Antu police station area of Pratapgarh. The bus driver molested a BSC student returning from Chandausi after giving exams. In Meerut’s Kankarkheda, miscreants dragged two sisters, beat them up and behaved obscenely. In Unnao, five BJP goons set fire to the victim’s house as soon as she was released from jail for not withdrawing the rape case against a minor. In Triveni Enclave located at Tajganj in Agra, Saresham Inspector’s daughter-in-law was looted after taking her hostage.”

“These incidents are just for counting. Every day incidents of loot, murder, molestation and rape happen in the state. In most cases, instead of helping the victim, the police work to create pressure in favour of the criminal elements. Due to poor investigation and negligence in prosecution, all the criminals are left free. Law and order are badly messed up under the BJP rule,” he said.

“Women and girls are unsafe. The public is tired of all this. By teaching a befitting lesson to the BJP in the civic elections itself, she will write the advance script of the BJP’s defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is a star campaigner in poll-bound Karnataka.

The Karnataka assembly elections are slated to take place on May 10, 2023, with the results being declared on May 13, 2023. All the 224 assembly seats will go to vote in a single phase. (ANI)

Modi meeting for security of Indians in sudan

Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting To Review Security Of Indians In Sudan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation of Indians stranded in Sudan, where fighting between its army and a paramilitary force has left over 300 people dead.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra were among those who attended the meeting with the Prime Minister conducted through video conferencing.
Ambassador of India to Sudan B S Mubarak along with the envoys to Egypt and Riyadh also participated in today’s meeting.

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar were present at the meeting.

Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa & Overseas Indian Affairs), MEA, Dr Ausaf Sayeed were also part of the high-level meeting.

At present, an unspecified number of Indians are said to be stranded in Sudan amid the military and political crisis. Thousands of civilians have fled Sudan’s capital Khartoum after fighting escalated in the region.

According to reports, over 350 people, including an Indian have been killed in the fighting so far.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had on April 20 met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York and discussed the developments in Sudan.

“We had a very good meeting. Most of our meeting was on the Sudan situation. We also discussed the G20, and Ukraine conflict, but essentially it was about Sudan,” Jaishankar told ANI.

Jaishankar said that the Indian government is in continuous touch with its citizens stuck in Sudan.

“Our team in Delhi is in continuous touch with the Indians in Sudan, advising them, saying we know it’s very difficult for everybody but keep calm and don’t take unnecessary risk. I hope that the efforts will yield something very soon,” the EAM said.

Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the MEA is in contact with the Indian embassy in Sudan.

“This is an issue on which we are keeping a very close watch and the evolving situation there,” Bagchi said.

“Our mission in Khartoum is in contact the Indian community there through formal and informal channels. Our embassy has issued several advisories,” he added.

Fighting has been raging between forces loyal to Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who commands the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The conflict began when a coup in 2021 between Sudan’s military leader and his deputy on the ruling council erupted derailing a plan for a transition to a civilian democracy after the fall of longtime dictator Omar al-Bashir in 2019. Elections were supposed to be held by the end of 2023. (ANI)

Mafia Can’t Threaten Anyone In UP Now: Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the mafia cannot threaten anyone in the state under the present BJP government.

The CM’s remark comes days after jailed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were gunned down in full media glare and amid heavy police presence in Prayagraj district.

The incident followed the death of Atiq’s fugitive son Asad in an exchange of fire with the UP Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi district earlier.

CM Adityanath made the statement while addressing the MoU signing programme at Textile Park in state capital Lucknow on Tuesday.

Claiming that the state was infamous for riots earlier, the CM said, “Between 2012 and 2017, more than 700 riots took place in Uttar Pradesh. However, from 2017 till 2023, not a single riot has happened in UP and neither has curfew been imposed in the state.”

“Earlier, the state suffered from an identity crisis. However today, criminals and mafias are in a crisis. Now gangsters and mafia cannot threaten businessmen over phone. Uttar Pradesh today promises a better law and order situation,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to list on April 24 the plea seeking to constitute an Independent Expert Committee under the chairmanship of a Former Supreme Court judge to inquire into the killing of Atiq and Ashraf, amid police presence.

Atiq Ahmed’s killers had a long connection with the crime and in their desire to become “popular”, they executed the killings on April 15 while the gangster-turned-politician and his brother Ashraf were in the custody of Uttar Pradesh Police in Prayagraj, sources said on Monday.

Atiq and Ashraf were killed by three assailants, who posed as mediapersons, while the gangsters were being taken for medical checkups at Prayagraj medical college.

The killers, identified as Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lavlesh Tiwari, “wanted to become gangsters” and hatched a plot to kill Atiq, sources said earlier.

The police said they were in the process of ascertaining if someone else was also involved in the plan to kill Atiq and Ashraf. All three youths were arrested by the police at the scene of the shooting.

Atiq was shot at least eight times, with bullet injuries found in his head, neck and chest, according to preliminary results of an autopsy conducted on his body after his sensational murder caught on camera outside a hospital in Prayagraj on April 15.

Sources said on Monday three bullets pierced the body of Ashraf, Atiq’s brother, during the shootout that took outside the hospital where the police had taken them for a routine medical check-up. The gangster siblings collapsed on the spot after being shot from near-point-blank range.

According to sources, the initial postmortem report said Atiq was shot 8 times while Ashraf took 5 bullets. “Of the eight bullets that Atiq took, one hit his head, one his neck, one each on his chest, stomach and waist,” sources said.

Both Atiq and Ashraf were buried on April 16 at the Kasari Masari burial ground in Prayagraj.

According to the initial post-mortem report, Ashraf was shot in his neck, back and waist, with the bullets piercing his body.

The Uttar Pradesh government ordered a judicial probe in the wake of the killings. Uttar Pradesh Police also announced the formation of two special investigating teams (SITs) to probe the killings. (ANI)

Congress Calls Modi As Anti-Kannadiga For Not Heling 31 Tribals In Sudan

Congress national spokesperson and the party’s in-charge for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls, Randeep Surjewala, on Tuesday claimed the BJP government at the Centre has made no effort to rescue 31 tribals from Karnataka who are stuck as violence rages in Sudan.

Labelling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai as “Anti-Kannadiga” in a no-holds-barred attack on the ruling party ahead of the May 10 polls, Surjewala put out a tweet stating, “31 Kannadigas of Hakki Pikki Tribe have been left stranded in the civil war in Sudan. The Anti-Kannadiga Modi Govt has left them to their fate, instead of evacuating and ensuring their safe return. Where are Mr. Prahlad Joshi and Shobha Karandje and BJP M.P’s? SHAME ON U MR. BOMMAI!”
No official statement has yet been released by the Ministry of External Affairs on the Congress leader’s claim.

Overwhelmed medical facilities have been targeted, including a major medical centre northeast of Khartoum that was shelled, evacuated and shut down. More than a dozen hospitals have shuttered, according to NYT.

Jagadish Shettar

Joining Congress Wholeheartedly.., Says Shettar After Quitting BJP

Prominent Lingayat leader and former Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar on Monday joined the Congress party a day after he quit the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the May 10 Assembly elections in the State.

Shettar who arrived at the Congress office in Bengaluru this morning was inducted into the party by Congress chief MallikarjunKharge, the Karnataka state Congress president DK Shivakumar and the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Siddaramaiah.

Senior BJP leader Amar Singh Patil also joined Congress along with Shettar.

Speaking at the occasion, Shettar said, “Yesterday I left BJP and today I joined the Congress party. Many are surprised as an opposition leader, former chief minister and party president is joining Congress. BJP has given me every position and being a party worker I always worked for the party’s growth.”

” I was among those who organised and worked for the growth of the (BJP) party. Yes BJP gave me respect and position. I won as an MLA six times and I I thought I would be naturally fielded for the seventh time,” he said

“I thought being a senior leader, I will get the ticket, but when I came to know that I am not getting it, I was shocked. No one spoke to me nor tried to convince me, not even gave assurance about what position will I get,” he stated.

“On April 11the party incharge said I had not been given a ticket. He spoke to me like speaking to a child. What should I do? I got a call in the morning and I was spoken to like I am a first time MLA or aspirant. I’m hurt. I was treated badly, ” Shettar said.

Shettar further said, “I was contacted by DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah, Surjewala and MB Patil. When they invited me I came without any other option. I am joining Congress wholeheartedly.”

Addressing reporters Congress chief Kharge said, “I do not need to give more introduction about Jagadish Shettar. His joining will boost the enthusiasm of the Congress, He is the person who not only wins alone, he is a person who is capable to win more seats. Though he was in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Jana Sangha, he is a non-controversial person. We have worked together.”

“Our target was 150, now after Shettar’s joining it is confirmed that we will reach the target,” added the Congress chief.

Taking to Twitter, Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “A New Chapter, A New History, A new Beginning…. Former BJP CM, Former BJP President, Former Leader of Opposition, Six times MLA, Jagadish Shettar joins the Congress family today. Karnataka Congress welcomes him.”

Notably, Karnataka State Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar met former CM Shettar in Bengaluru after he resigned from BJP on Sunday.

In this regard, Jagadish Shettar took to Twitter and said, “Fed up with the political events of the past few days, I have resigned from my MLA seat and will discuss my next move with the activists. As usual, I believe that your love and blessings will always be with me”.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday said that Shettar was humiliated and BJP has crumbled like a house of cards.

Shettar tendered his resignation as an MLA to Karnataka Assembly Speaker, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, at Sirsi on April 16.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had earlier mentioned that BJP president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised Shettar a big post in Delhi.

“Jagadish Shettar has been a senior and an important leader in this region. JP Nadda and Union Home Minister had promised a big post in Delhi to Shettar. Everything would have been fine if the former CM had continued,” Bommai told media persons in Hubballi.

Bommai said that tickets are being denied to some candidates as opportunities are being given to the young generation.

Shettar, a six-time MLA from the constituency, was reportedly advised by the party to stand down and not seek a fresh term as MLA from the Hubli-Dharwad Central segment, following which his followers expressed their anguish against the party’s high command.

On Saturday after announcing his resignation Shettar also mentioned that there was a conspiracy against him, which is why he was denied a ticket.

Meanwhile, former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday said if Shettar comes back to BJP, the party would welcome him.

The Karnataka assembly elections will be held in a single phase on May 10, with the counting of votes scheduled on May 13. (ANI)
